  1. I'm late! But if y'all want to talk about COVID, there's a sticky thread for that.
  2. The "fair" thing is making this topic. So thanks~!
  3. We're going to obey the weapon triangle and go with Mamori. She's also the one that's munched on some premium skills, to boot!
  4. Good, I can write out what I wanted to after the voting's over. I'm not a professional writer, but maybe my suggestions will help?
  5. That's only part of it, at best. Maybe one day I'll do a chapter run that shows off just what I mean.
  6. If you're doing manual calculations, then just about every equation became more complicated post-NM. For those who don't run the numbers before moving, it's not really a concern. If you're trying to figure out if someone's going to survive before you move them (or if they'll get a kill on a given phase), then those other factors you're handwaving as "not complicated" are important.
  7. I think you should read that quote chain all the way backwards, because what you're saying doesn't really help me. --- Hey everyone else, there's more FE games than Fates. If y'all want to complain about Fates, there's a subforum for that (and as a bonus, I'll tell you what you're doing wrong on Chapter 19).
  8. 3H is way more complicated when it comes to math. Earlier games showed the odds of you and your opponent landing a hit (not the true odds, thanks 2RN), which IMO is what I'd rather see.
  9. I think something got crossed here? Are you talking about the odds of not eating a crit or the odds of not being hit?
  10. FE has something that many SRPGs don't, and that's the ability to calculate everything ahead of time. The general rule is (attack power) minus (defensive power), with stuff like effective damage being thrown in (effective damage equals "dish it out to the enemy, but avoid it on your end"). Check enemy ranges to make sure that a single unit doesn't take more damage than it can handle in a turn. Evasion can also be calculated, but it's far more complicated in Fates/3H than it was in the GBA games. SRPGs are strategy games at their core, which means you'll need to think at least to the enemy phase. While the specific calculations won't carry over, understanding how SRPGs work will carry over through the genre (it's why I'm having a blast with Super Robot Wars, even if the thought of Hector in a giant robot is a little terrifying).
  11. Check the Let's Plays subforum for what happens when I try to weave a story within a walkthrough. Hint: It's probably not a stellar idea.
  12. I, uh, have issues. At least it's not about giant robots! Title: Moonlight? Word count: 1,234 (no this wasn't intentional)
  13. Is the word count still enforced, or no? Might make a difference in future prompts.
  14. Report doesn't mean "this person's in trouble". It's basically a way to flag the moderator's attention. If you explain that the topic should be elsewhere, whoever picks up that report can move it if necessary. Also works for accidental double-posts.
  15. Yeah it's a big deal, and it's being moved. Which means @vanguard333 and @indigoasis use the Report function next time. I happened to see this, but I'm not here all the time.
  16. At this point, it's better to split it into its own topic. But I will leave it for those who care about the topic to do so. If I don't see another topic about it, I'll assume that no one cared enough.
  17. Takes a bit of Noctis-only battling, but it's something on the ascension board (I think that's what it's called), and pretty cheap. Everyone has a different fighting style, so check 'em out! You'll need the Royal Edition for that, and it's a pretty hefty download if you only have the base game.
  18. If you're invested enough in it, sure. I'm not, which is why I haven't said anything on the matter.
  19. Hey, that's fair! There's also ways to make the game spicier, like equipping that accessory that stops experience gain or just not using curatives at all. I've heard others have found more enjoyment in the game with a level 1 run.
  20. Ahem, this is the politics thread, not the failures of higher education thread.
  21. As much as people dump on Final Fantasy XV, the mechanics behind Noctis are a lot deeper than they seem. But I usually go with Ignis for main fighter, because I enjoy picking on elemental weaknesses! Absolute favorite system was Tokyo Mirage Sessions, because it became a puzzle later on. Being able to swap your party members freely in battle without taking a turn meant that I could experiment.
  22. Just a reminder that the usual SF rules are in effect, so it's not only smut that's disallowed. I'll be a bit lenient on stuff like double-posting, but it must be within reason. As for the prompt, I have no idea how to approach this. Maybe something will come to me later this month.
  23. Gah, I'm late, sorry! Anyway, that "thing" that Tomas can do is gain Res in certain physical classes, like Paladin. The odds are stupidly low, but it's funny when it happens!
