  1. Don't do your math when attacking a boss with many low-level units.
  2. To me it's an impossible choice between Western(style) Action RPGs and classic turn-based RPGs. Like them both in their own way, as long as they match my interest in a game, so why chose? Fire Emblem is a strategy game first and the RPG-elements make it a very unique game, which is why I wouldn't compare it to either of these genres, but to the strategy genre instead.
  3. Not to derail the discussion here so let's make this short, but the reason why I'm so cynical from time to time is actually because I like the Fire Emblem (and Paper Mario) series so much. I would also appreciate it, if you stopped accusing me of being offensive towards casual players. What I'm not a fan of is making drastic changes with the intention to target a different audience, while essentially ignoring the long-time players. If you knew me well you might actually understand where I'm coming from and that I'm fairly reasonable. And about your last sentence: "why do i feel like i just took bait", you didn't because there isn't any. It's these subtle accusations. That's all I have to say, have a nice day.
  4. (The following will actually not be sarcastic) You know, about that part about Miyamoto, I do not buy the saying that he is the reason of all this. In my eyes, Intelligent Systems lost their creative talent years ago. Miyamoto is always in favour of focusing on gameplay instead of story and likely had his fair share of influence on designing the game, but he could not have been the key reason Sticker Star became what it was. It's the same story as with Sakurai and the developement of Super Smash Bros. He clarifies that he's the director and only what he says is going to happen, which is why people always blame/praise him for different aspects of the game, when in reality it's an entire team that's beind everything, every decision.
  5. I don't understand why anyone would have a reason to complain about this game. It's Intelligent System's game, they can do whatever they want and you should like it unless you're an obvious negative nancy and hater. I mean, yeesh! Can everyone just not question them and let the developers do what they want? The game having the title "Paper Mario" should be enough for everyone to be satisfied. If you don't like the story, dialogues and constant jokes about paper, remember they were always an optional part since you can skip them. Don't like gameplay elements like "battles"? Tell you what, they can be skipped aswell to save paint and thus they are optional. Your complaint is invalid, wouldn't you say? Sure, the gameplay is less complex and easier to pick up than before, but let's not forget that focusing on the casual audience and making everything literally look like paper are the appeal now, and it lead to Sticker Star selling more copies than any other game in the series, essentially SAVING the franchise. So really, there is no reason to be close-minded here. P.S.: If anyone happens to find my sarcasm or similarities to other InSy franchises lying around, please feel free to keep it and have a laugh. ^^
  6. Would've chosen the Tellius series as a whole, but chose PoR as my favourite simply because it's the first game. Both are excellent and have everything I like about Fire Emblem, Radiant Dawn might have the upper hand because it has more content and widescreen support.
  7. Did not expect Bayonetta to be the only fighter receiving changes, 62mb and all, but apparently the amount of attribute changes don't affect the size of the patch since everything gets overwritten with each patch. Now, these changes.. they're lovely. Guess all that's left so say now is: Ban Rosalina!
  8. I'm no expert in forging, but I'm pretty sure steel is more rubust than silver, yes. Now, obviously the damage-output of each weapon is related to gamedesign (whether you get your arm chopped off with steel or silver IRL makes no difference), but we can't forget that silver weapons do break quicker than steel ones, so they got that right. Oh another thing is that steel is usually heavier than silver in the games. In real life, silver has the higher density.
  9. I have a bad feling about this. When I think mobile, I'm thinking "small game", "simple, on the go gameplay" and "casual audience". ...Will this just purely be a "waifu" petting simulator? The final nail in the coffin? (Writing this just in case: No, I am not flame baiting. I just used to like this series too much and am concerned.)
  10. The soundtrack in awakening and fates is good to some extent.
  11. It's good. I don't care too much about storylines in Fire Emblem, so I can't argue whether it's well written or not, but what I know is that the general scenario is pretty cool and that it doesn't make me feel uncomfortable or cringe while playing the game, which is basicly all I expect from a good story. That horrible voice acting, though. I like it, it's fun.
  12. Oh, how do I wish they would look back at the older games and realize what made them great, not only concerning the strategy gameplay.. Some people say I should lose hope, but I just like this series so much.. Well anyways! I don't play the newest entry in the series, but Defend missions is something I miss aswell, eventhough I wasn't a super huge fan of them.
  13. It plays nice and looks fine to me. Sure, the visuals aren't up-to-date but that isn't exactly something I'm loooking for in a Fire Emblem game. (Artstyle though. *cough*) Only thing I wish PoR had is widescreen support, but that doesn't justify a remaster in my opinion. Also, if you're talking about that lazy, on-disc DLC holding remaster of Zelda TP, I know the original still being excellent didn't stop Nintendo from rushing the remaster. Doesn't change the fact that it's unneeded.
  14. Remasters? But those Sprites looked so good, though! No, what we need is a collection of all 16Bit system games, localized and authentic. (And perhaps throw in the NES games as a bonus.. and I don't mean in form of amiibo-DLC.) For the Tellius games, I don't see the point in remastering them. The originals still hold up.
  15. (Are you getting payed to say that?) I know this isn't the best place to discuss competitive play, but I think having a smaller amount of fighters allows for an overall more balanced game. Aside from that, I didn't say all DLC characters are bad, I said the last wave of DLC is dissapointing. Cloud is a pain in doubles, Bayonetta messes up the meta entirely and is the worst nightmare of low-tier heroes. Corrin is (and this isn't necessarily related to my opinion of fates) purely an advertisement.. plus we had enough FE representation, even daddy Sakurai thought so. :D (That should've been Isaac or Wolf) I mean, Cloud and Bayonetta lead to the joke "Pay2Win Smash 4", but that's really getting old now aswell.
  16. Smash 64 started it and was nice and simple.. the camera wasn't very great, though. Melee greatly expanded on what was Smash 64 and the competitive community is still strong today.. it still had a wonky-ass camera. Brawl is easily up there for opening the gate to modding heaven, leading to the creation of PM.. and it also has a greatly improved camera. Smash 4 is pretty damn good in terms of gameplay, but it has far too many characters, thus the most amount of bad ones in the series and the last wave of DLC was utterly disappointing.. but at least the camera is better than ever. So yeah, obvious winner is: 3DS Street Smash
  17. Evil King posessed and corrupted by evil starts war. A group of rebels wearing no armour or clothes march against him. Meanwhile death and the despair of war follows everywhere, but they're able to ignore it by marrying each other and talking about cake and disney princesses. In the end they win, because they're invincible, and then travel through dimensions. To be continued in 60$ on-disc DLC...
  18. I wish that they change up all movesets for the next Smash Bros. for two reasons. First of all it'll make the game feel fresh and interesting (sorry, Sakurai, THIS is how you do it, not by adding more and more fighters), and secondly, it'll keep Smash 4 a relevant game.
  19. I honestly grew sick of these interactive movies by TTG after The Wolf Among Us. Miss the way they used to make adventure games like the Sam & Max series or Monkey Island 5... with ACTUAL gameplay and puzzles instead of quick-time-events. If they did something oldschool like that it might be interesting, but I'm not sure how they would incorporate the Fire Emblem strategy gameplay in it. I mean they could just not do that, but then they would just borrow names which is kinda lame. Give that project to Daedalic Entertainment and they might figure something out. They made both great adventure games and Strategy RPGs in the past.
  20. Ike performing the Hoo Hah ...I mean "Aether". Dr. Mario scratching his chin, thinking: "Diagnosis: Bodied."
  21. They had that "This is life, this is death, this is Fire Emblem" for awakening commercials, which admittedly was pretty good. I might add something in the same fashion as "War never changes", though, as it's pretty much a common theme in Fire Emblem to understand/remember the sorrowfulness of War. ..As opposed to making it look like some sort of romantic setting, where everyone marries everyone.
  22. Tried filling out that survey aswell, eventhough I'm european. Got stuck when they wanted me to tell them where they should post more memes without having the option to say "The hell? How about nowhere at all?" Hope they don't start casting internet celebrites in the future, it kind of sounded like they were planning on doing something like that. Bruh, I do not want to see game theorists or anyone else in their commercials. Not sure if you can call it "unfair" DLC, but it sure is a disgusting and inacceptable marketing move. On the bright side, it seems that more people start to realize this at last, now that they actually put what's essentially on-Disc DLC in a main Zelda game.
  23. Clearly Oliver is the correct choice here, everyone. The Black Knight is sort of an obvious choice, not because the saga he's from is my favourite, but because he's had much time in the spotlight in each game. I mean, most bosses appear at the end of the game and never again after that, while the Black Knight is a nemesis to Ike and as such a more important antagonist in my eyes.
  24. Actually, in my vision, they'd all just keep quiet, because they'd know they're about to take a bloody life!
