  1. How do you all have time for this I literally just started A question: if an unequipped undrafted unit takes damage without being a shield, would I receive a penalty?
  2. Matthew and... Wil? Remind me to punch myself in the face when he gets SPD screwed and Becca gets blessed in STR.
  3. Baldrick, are you still in? If not, I'd like to join. See, I've always wanted to do a draft but I'm pretty sure Serenes veterans would curb-stomp me on any mode but normal. Oh, by the way, you listed Ninils as free, but they're in the undrafted units list.
  4. If this is your first time playing, just use who you like. I'll give some general advice, though. - Spam heal and promote your healer(s) at ~level 17. They gain loads of BEXP, and the extra three levels aren't too necessary. - Mounted and flying units are generally just better. I'd only invest in one Pegasus sister, since you're on ENM. - Ninils is a blessing. Abuse them as much as much as possible during Lyn Mode so they have better avoid in later chapters. - Try to have at least one S-rank user of every tome/weapon, though I don't consider and S in Dark very useful, because Luna. - Don't disregard prepromotes, many of them turn out pretty well. (Pent and Louise slay all. I'm unbiased, I promise.) - Don't avoid archers. There are a ton of wyverns in this game, and archers deal with them incredibly well. (Still unbiased.) - Always train a thief, and keep them up to par so they don't require a guard every time you want a chest opened. - I don't recommend paying too much attention to your rank, that detracts from the fun of the game. Save that for ranked runs. Don't ruin your first experience with FE7 by worrying about efficiency and whatnot. In general, just remember that the more mounts, the better.
  5. Huh, she does. Damn. I'd still recommend breaking her Bolting ASAP, though, since an Elfire doesn't hurt as much, though, it does have a higher hit rate. Your call.
  6. My bad, I meant Rescue, which you do get during the chapter. I confused BBD with Sands of Time, oops. They're both defend/protect chapters with castles. I actually find it easier to send a unit with high RES out to burn Bolting, since your anti-cavalry weapon wielders have to enter her range anyways. It's also helpful if you don't kill her before she moves so she can't reach Nino or Zephiel. Alternatively, you could use Torch near where Ursula is, then get Pent to use Bolting on her, which I think you get in the previous chapter. Actually, isn't her position different in HHM? I might just be confused again, though, it's been a while. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, I guess.
  7. - anima/light/dark triangle, and custom spell animations. also, custom class critical animations, instead of just spinning. - limited weapon uses and no debuffs. bring back the weapon triangle. bows are not part of the triangle. no more "hidden weapon" crap. - if there absolutely has to be an avatar, make them like the fe7 tactician, who immersed the player into the plot, but weren't the protag. - no children. at all. not even a la fe4. losing the entire army you just trained is kind of annoying. also painful. - a more serious plot. less ridiculousness. at least make the final boss (?) mildly threatening. see below. - 5 support options, but the ability to A in all of them, with a select few being able to S. no more characters based on single quirks. - more defend/rout/seize multiple point chapters. less generic seize throne/defeat commander chapters. - if a the main protagonist is female, i'd like for her to be unequivocally the protagonist. no more lyn/eirika/micaiah dubiousness. - bring back fog of war and weather conditions. oh, also, status conditions. i'm not sure if those were in awakening or not. - elibe remakes. sorry for typing like a scrub. no motivation.
  8. Durandal: Percival, obviously. Rutger or Fir if, for some reason, he's using something else. Armads: Gonzales if he has decent SKL, Echidna otherwise. Sometimes I use Bartre, because Bartre. Maltet: Miledy forever. Miledy is your goddess. Bow to Miledy. (If she doesn't make it, Tate.) Murgleis: Shin, or Sue, depending on who has higher STR. Forblaze: Lilina, unless she gets screwed in SPD. Then I use Cecelia. Apocalypse: Niime, unless I bother raising Sophia. FE6!Aureola: Saul or Ellen, depending on who looks better at 20. FE7!Aureola: Serra. If she doesn't make the rank, Lucius. Reinfleche: Louise, unless Lyn has the rank, or Becca has above average STR. Rex Hasta: Whichever Pegasus sister is looking the best. Usually Florina. Basalikos: If Sain or Kent somehow reach the rank, I give it to them. Hector otherwise, though it ends up unused, because Armads. Regal Blade: Lyn, because anything is better than lolSolKatti. If she's using Rienfleche, Sain or Kent. Gestpenst: Why would you use it if Luna exists? Athos, I guess. Luce: See Aureola, which takes precedence over Luce if I have only one Light user. If I have both, I usually give Serra Aureola and Lucius Luce. Excalibur: Pent, or Prissy on the rare occasions when she reaches the rank.
  9. Rescue chaining can move things a bit faster. If you're just incredibly unlucky, and you can't handle the chapter anymore, use staves. It's really not worth the headache to conserve warp for later chapters, since it doesn't have much utility in FE7, relative to the other GBA games.
  10. As someone who prefers girls, I would love to see this implemented, but I'm about 80% sure they would screw the LGBT characters up. In pretty much every video game I've seen, a gay character has their entire character arc/development based around the fact that they are gay. It would almost be like Awakening, where every unit has their own particular quirk. People would be more surprised to find out that I am not straight, even though I have done nothing to indicate a preference for either gender, than they would be to find out that I prefer oranges to bananas, even though I eat a banana for lunch every day and an orange twice a month. Granted, 90% of people are straight, so most people expect others to be straight. It's not worth having a gay character if they're not well not well written. That being said, IS is a Japanese company, and I'm fairly sure that Japan is more conservative about LGBT than the West is, so we'll probably have more Lyn and Florina style implied pairings than open ones, which I'm more comfortable with anyways.
  11. I have a keen feeling that the storyline for Nohr won't quite meet my expectations. The "revolutionize from the inside" part sounds interesting, and I hope they pull it off well, but it sounds like the kind of plot that would difficult to write without making it seem dull. Video games are based more around game mechanics and less around plot, so the revolution probably won't be as grand as I'm hoping. Kind of like the Emmeryn thing- it was fairly moving, and the whole "Plegian soldiers are deserting while chanting her name" was a nice touch, but I feel like they could have done a lot more with it. Also, you know, bringing her back to life kinda lessened the blow a bit. Also, I'm afraid that forging is going to cancel out weapon debuffs. -STR or -SKL isn't going to do shit when we can casually as MT or CRT to a weapon. Especially since we'll have a lot of money left over from not having to buy all those killer weapons that we didn't break. Also I'm afraid they won't bring back FoW, which I'm really looking forward to. I'm also kind of afraid that Hoshido Phoenix Mode is going to scare newer fans away from the older games. Also I hope they do characterization better this time around. I'm hoping that, since most of the units have connections to each other, the supports will be more meaningful.
  12. Oh, I can't wait for Nohr. Arenas! Turn based maps! Lunatic Phoenix Ignorance Run! Also, IS managed the removal of weapon uses much better than I thought they would, though I'm not too pleased about the new weapon triangle. The new weapon distribution of the classes looks interesting, though. Pegasus Knights with bows is pretty sweet. Also, archers might finally get recognition thanks to the nerfing of javelins and hand-axes. Might. FE doesn't seem to like archers much. Still, magic is going to be epic win in this game. (I'm crying softly because waiting for the NA release will be actual hell. Also because I am poor.)
  13. *claps* Finally, archers can be useful! I've always had a soft spot for this so this is excellent news. This also makes tomes so much more OP.
  14. In the last Fire Emblem game, merchants will disappear, and Anna will slowly gain a business monopoly. The Lord and Co realize that their weapons and costing more and more, and decide investigate the mystery of the disappearing merchants. They track everything back to Anna. In the final boss fight, she unveils herself as Random Number Goddess, and has the most broken stats ever. None of your units can land a single hit on her. They are all massacred. The Lord, trembling in fear, faces her. She offers him a sword that can actually damage her for 1,000,000 gold. Of course, this is after you've spent all that money on those infini-use weapons, so you have no money left. She shrugs, crits the Lord, and takes everything from your convoy to sell at ridiculous prices. In all seriousness, Anna will probably remain consistent through Nohr and Hoshido, though I doubt she'll be recruitable again.
  15. ACording to my recollection, puns supposed to bring Myrrth or Merricment. Est this really the Barst you Guys can do? Ewan I can do better. I Knoll I'm Ferry Wiling to commit a murder right now. Ayra going to make better puns now? I'm just Jakeing, I don't mean you Malice. However, I have a Nagaing feeling that I need to Soothe my Pent up wRath. I'll stop Dragon my feet in this forum and Leif.
  16. All in all, I'd say that RNG is a pretty important facet of Fire Emblem. Without it, there wouldn't be nearly enough variation. Honestly, half the charm of FE is it's luck based RNs. True, there is some BS that tends to happen, and I'm not the only one who ends up screaming and raging when 90% chance misses (which is even more frustrating if you're playing an FE game with 2 RNs and you end up missing on a ~99% chance). But it also forces you consider your decisions more carefully, and requires you to actually use tactics, which is fairly rare in this genre. Plus, the games would be incredibly boring without RNG. It also raises the replay value of FE, which is already pretty high. As previously mentioned, most units can turn out very differently, and you're inspired to play the game again using different units.
  17. Healing twice in one round, if your healer has enough speed.
  18. Why hasn't Zephiel been mentioned yet? Battle Before Dawn, anyone? Playing FE6 afterwards hurt me.
  19. Having staves equipped and attacking through light magic would be pretty cool. Also I really miss light magic.
  20. Alternate routes only accessible on subsequent playthroughs might be cool. Kind of like with Eliwood's/Hector's Route, except with individual chapters. Beat the game to get access to alternate chapters.
  21. I'm going with FE5, because the Jugdral games are underrated on most other websites. Even on SF, Genealogy gets significantly more love than Thracia does. Second choice would probably be Genealogy, though. Most people tend not to bother with the SNES games, which is a pity, because they are phenomenal.
  22. I always thought Genesis was fine. It was one of the more challenging maps, but it requires you to actually plan ahead and use extreme caution. Eight deployment slots isn't really that bad, and you can easily fit several competent fighters/staff users in those slots. The Berserker is much more tedious, but you can still wait for the enemy thieves to get the items first, and kill them afterwards. However, I also find the Berserker very, very tiresome if I'm trying to get both the Wolf Beils. If not, two combat units + a staff user can finish that chapter perfectly fine. Battle Before Dawn really was fine, with the exception of Jaffar. His tendency to charge into a horde of Swordreavers/Swordslayers was awful, and if you were even slightly unlucky with RNG, he'd end up dead before turn 4. Getting to Nino in time isn't too hard, however, and Zephiel will stay on his pillar with +20 avoid unless he needs to heal. It's mainly Jaffar that's susceptible to unlucky RNG. That being said, I personally find this chapter incredibly annoying and unfair, because every other time I play it, RNG screws me over, but that's only my personal experience, and maybe I'm just really unlucky. FE7 is harsh about slot deployment, but not entirely unreasonable. Just my two cents.
