  1. It's kinda funny to read what people associate Niles with - it's a name I've certainly heard before, but I can't think of anyone specific. After thinking about it for a while the only thing that came to my mind was the river in Africa, heh. I always assumed they'd change Zero in localization, but Niles is something I didn't expect. I'm fine with it, but I'm fine with the majority of changes. I guess I just don't get too attached to names...
  2. I can't recognize Silas's voice at all, but I think someone at reddit thought that's Sam Riegel? No idea if they're right.
  3. Nope, Llewellyn hasn't appeared in any English gameplay footage yet. I've gotten quite fond of that name after all this time, I hope he's someone cool. The voices in IGN's amiibo vid were hard to identify, but Beruka's voice reminded me a lot of Kjelle's. Sooo... Stephanie Sheh, maybe? Or someone who sounds a lot like her. Rinkah's voice sounds annoyingly familiar, but I can't put my finger on who it might be. I'm sure I mentioned this in another topic, but I think Mikoto is Marisha Ray. I actually haven't played any games she's in, but after watching a lot of Critical Role I could swear that's her.
  4. To me, one of the most rewarding things about Fire Emblem is clearing maps without losing anyone, so I always reset. I get easily attached to the characters and it just feels so bad to leave them behind even when I know I'm not going to use them in battles. Their death quotes make me feel awful! I like playing Awakening with hard-casual, and even then I always reset when someone "dies". (I play casual because you can save in the middle of a battle - starting from the beginning can be super frustrating at times.) I'm playing Shadow Dragon now, and I'm somewhat tempted to try ironman for the first time. It's my fifth Fire Emblem, so I might as well try playing differently this time.
  5. Cool, I share my birthday with Foleo. I can only wish I shared his fashion sense.
  6. Oh, I didn't even know about those. Thanks! I need to consider if I'll get one.
  7. Huh, is Lucina's bear hat a reference to Awakening drama CDs? I wish the game audio didn't echo so much, I'm more interested in their voices than their names. Marth sounds good, though. (I just bought a Marth amiibo but I'd need a New 3DS to have him in Fates ;__;) Shortened Hoshidan names still sound bit weird to me, but I don't mind others shown here. I always thought Zero would be renamed (it just screams ~dark backstory~ to me), so Niles is okay, I guess. I like Selena a lot. I'm very happy Nyx wasn't changed!
  8. Mikoto is probably voiced by Marisha Ray (Margaret in the new Persona 4 games). Sounds a lot like her, at least. I have mixed feelings about Kaze, Hinoka and Mikoto, but everyone else was fine. I definitely prefer English!Azura's speaking voice to her Japanese and her singing sounds pretty good to me. Thank goodness the decision scene is so much better in the game! Now I have no worries about Xander and Elise, I liked their voices.
  9. Oh, but isn't it Xander who says "Are those heroes from the Outrealms"? Maybe it's easier to hear in the Japanese trailer, that's Katsuyuki Konishi for sure. I've no idea who's Corrin's VA, but it's certainly possible that the voice in the E3 trailer is just one of his voice options. Actually, that makes me wonder how many options we'll get this time...
  10. I've seen people suggesting that Xander's and Elise's lines ("he's MY brother!" and "we're your family") were possibly added specifically for this trailer to give viewers an idea what's going on in the scene (since the game isn't out here yet and not everyone knows what the premise is). But if those lines are in the game, their deliveries have got to be better than here. :/ I listened to the trailer a couple of times and the Hoshidans are actually pretty good. I like Matt Mercer and he's fine here and Sakura's voice is very lovely (it's so refreshing to hear newcomers! I liked that about Awakening's English cast too). The Nohrian siblings are quite disappointing, I can't even tell if they are the same actors we heard in the E3 trailer (so I'm just going to be in denial for now). Oh well, it's just a Smash trailer...
  11. Well, I liked what I heard of Azura's song in that... thing. A lot actually! Maybe not as haunting as the original, but very pretty nonetheless. Was anyone able to hear the lyrics? I just hope the voice acting isn't this cringey in Fates, because this didn't sound very good. I'm going to hope for the best until we hear more from the actual game...
  12. The E3 trailer sounded fine to me, but all the lines were from very intense moments. I'd love to hear some more "normal" lines soon, like Takumi's. He sounded so unexpectedly raspy in the trailer. If that's Ben Diskin, I'm surprised, since I've only heard him playing silly guys in JoJo and Devil Survior 2. I love how unique Oboro's Japanese voice is, so I'm wondering what the dub will do with her.
  13. I'm actually looking forward to finally experiencing the story myself, too. I've seen all the cutscenes and know some big spoilers, but everything else I know is vague at best. I'm aware of how many here feel about the stories, but nothing I've heard sounds too terrible, so I'm curious to see if I react to them differently. Conquest still intrigues me the most, especially since people have had such mixed reactions about it. From what I've heard, it's more character driven too, so I'm definitely looking forward to that.
  14. Localized names and English voice acting. The Japanese voices are wonderful, but I liked Awakening's English audio a lot and I hope Fates's is as good. I especially look forward to hearing critical lines. My Castle. I like how we can visit others' castles. Gameplay. The game just looks so much fun to play. The new weapon triangle, unbreakable weapons, attack and guard stances, new classes... And the characters, of course. I like so many of them already.
  15. As far as I know the video just says part 4 is confirmed, but according to Crunchyroll more details will be announced on November 19th. I'm so happy more JoJo anime is on its way, especially since Diamond is Unbreakable is one of my favorite parts. So many good characters and fights, I can't wait to see it all animated.
  16. Since I don't have definite favorites yet, I'll just vote for different characters every day. Today Xander and Flora, tomorrow some Hoshidans. It'll be fun to see how much the results differ from that Famitsu popularity poll.
  17. Thank you so much for the translations and scans! I'm not really a big fan of the artwork here, but Kazahana, Takumi, Oboro, Nishiki and Shara look quite nice. If I'm not mistaken, the same artist drew all of them, too! Only Shara was drawn by someone else. But yeah, I'd love to see Kozaki's official art soon.
  18. Super hyped. I couldn't resist reading some spoilers and watched a ton of gameplay and I still think it looks fun. I'm also very curious about the localization - this was the first time I followed any game's Japanese release closely, so it will be interesting to see what names get changed and so on.
  19. Awakening: My first Fire Emblem, bought in on a whim when it was released in EU. It has its shortcomings, but it's the most fun I've had with a video game. I'm currently playing it for the third time. Sacred Stones: I got curious about other games in the series earlier this year and started with this one. I've beaten Eirika's story, saving Ephraim's for later. Very pretty game, quite easy but still good. Blazing Sword: Beaten Lyn's and Eliwood's stories, saving Hector's for later. Enjoyed this one as well. I'm currently playing Binding Blade (I'm on chapter 6, I think?) and after that I'm planning on trying FE11 & FE12, and after that.. well, who knows, maybe Path of Radiance or Genealogy of the Holy War, both seem pretty interesting. Oh, and I'm definitely buying Fates when it comes out.
  20. I just watched all Volume 1 videos and really enjoyed them. I've always wanted to listen to the drama CDs, but I find them hard to enjoy when I can't understand the language - having a visualization like this makes listening to them so much more fun. Good work!
  21. It seems Awakening was featured in Nintendo Direct in October 2012. Was that the first time English footage was shown?
  22. Finally, a spoiler free thread! I'm not sure if it's wise of me to keep coming here, the whole place is like a minefield of spoilers. I happily spoiled all the characters for myself (well... I don't know anything about their personalities or their places in the story, but I always like to see what the characters look like) and some support stuff but I really don't want to know any details about the main stories. The Iwata Asks interview made me really confident about the game, I hope I don't end up expecting too much from it! Someone asked about how to have willpower to stay away from spoilers - I always just listen to the soundtrack. I don't need to know when the tracks play in the game, the music itself is evocative enough. I haven't listened all the tracks yet - there's a playlist on Youtube with 107 tracks! - but man, it's fantastic. Really love how Hoshido and Nohr not only look, but sound different as well.
  23. I'll listen to the soundtrack and look up all the recruitable characters and the official art for the game. I want to avoid story spoilers (but I won't be too upset if I get a few things spoiled), so I need to unfollow some people on social media, blacklist tags etc. Playthroughs are bound to show up on Youtube, so I'll probably watch them for a bit and then inevitably get bored because I don't understand the language (which reminds me - I need to avoid comment sections too). That's how it usually goes anyway.
  24. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/bfwj/character/index.html This doesn't really prove both of them are playable, but I just wanted to point this out... It's not from a battle, but if you look at the screencaps in Gunter's and Felicia's profiles, you can see Jakob and Felicia appearing in the same scene. So both of them exist no matter which gender you choose. And yeah, Felicia mentions Jakob in her dialogue, like we saw on that Treehouse stream.
  25. Nohr / Normal / Casual / Resets I might try hard difficulty when I play Hoshido and will grind a little then. I'm picking casual only because I like having an option to save in the middle of a battle.
