It's annoying because she is a character I liked and was the mother of my Kana in my first Birthright path, and I loved her support with the male avatar as she came across as just a very warm, kind character - which I think is enough characterisation for her. The problem I find is I felt that a lot of characters in Fates had to have this one weird/over-the-top [personality attribute, and I feel that was just slapped on Reina's character because they worried her character might be a bit bland without it (which I disagree with, it would be nice to have a genuinely warm, normal character in Fates). This was particularly annoying when Peri also had this insane, bloodthirsty attitude along with her messed-up mentality, making it feel like IS ran out of personality ideas so Reina was just given this to be a bit more strange. I did like her but found this bloodthirsty personality both unbelievable and unnecessary to her character.

New 7 minute video
Hoshidokoala replied to Calico's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
It seems, maybe just design-wise, that Leon and Python are complete opposites with Leon being a pretty-boy type, and Python looking a lot more rough and ready, with the pompadour, which was a typical symbol of delinquents in Japanese gangs. Maybe this might extend to his personality, so he might be a bit like Brady from Awakening? -

Sure it looks ridiculous, but so did Cavalier and Fighter panties in Fates - this game looks so promising so I don't see why a certain class design would ruin your experience with the game? -

Oh ok, you're right but it looks like the sprites would have been better suited if they swapped them with each other. -

here is the screen with most of the characters on Alm's route - I presume Tatiana is the green one, Delthea still has her ginger hair, but who's the female unit below her? Could it be the Rinean character we've heard about recently? -
How classes work in Echoes

Ok, I wasn't sure with the diagram if they carried on keeping their levels or not -
How classes work in Echoes
Hoshidokoala replied to Hoshidokoala's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Don't we see Leon as a level 1 Sniper in some of the Pax footage from 2 weeks ago, if my mind serves me correctly? Does that imply that the characters start over with levels once they promote? -
As a newbie to the series (since Awakening), I've always loved the diversity of class systems, but I'm completely in the dark about Echoes' class systems, their promotions and which ones are better than others, apart from knowing that they have a lot less classes than in the more recent games. I just want to know how the class system works in Echoes, can units reclass and which promotions are optimal. Thanks :)

Hopes for Famitsu Scans 22/3
Hoshidokoala replied to Hoshidokoala's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I'm not sure myself but it's releasing in Japan in about 4 weeks so it's quite probable that there will be information and characters every week? I'm not sure, I'm just hoping for some more stuff -
Hopes for Famitsu Scans 22/3

Oh, how come? Just curious ahah -
What do you all want to see in the upcoming famitsu issue (I think scans should appear tomorrow?) I really want some more information and art of some of the characters, and for a bit of a more detailed look at the village exploration guide.

Btw I noticed that Mathilda still has blonde hair (random fact) also i loved the dungeon looks, particularly the coral reef one, and the forest map looked nice too -
An interesting detail I noticed

The Shura archetype would be cool! I feel like it would be neat if he perhaps is pushed aside by his own empire and cast out after failing and is recruited out of pity afterwards, losing his ignorance and arrogance he once had (idk?) (and BTW Hidari is a woman) -
Best Character Redesign
Hoshidokoala replied to Hasnbaakoajsbakaiaja's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I can't believe you're making me have to choose just one favourite design!! I love all of the designs, particularly Boey's, Silque's and Lukas's. In the end though I went with Silque just because I love her outfit and her hair, although this decision was too tough to make! Lukas was definitely a close second -
Old Artwork & New Artwork

Maybe Clair will have a bit more depth to her if Faye has adopted a very similar personality to what she had in Gaiden, maybe expanding on the whole Gray-Tobin-love-thing. And I cannot wait to see Forsyth's redesign as well as Clair's. As for the "Christmas Duo", hasn't there almost always been a red and green duo in almost every fe game (eg, Cain + Abel, Sully + Stahl, etc.). I did like Forsyth's old hair but its still cool (he seems to have curtains from his sprite though). Also, do you reckon we might see a new character on Celica's route this week (if famitsu is updating every week)? I can't wait for all of these refreshing updates on the characters, both new and old -
Character redesigns
Hoshidokoala replied to Kaminari's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I'm hoping that Hidari keeps Delthea's ginger hair in her updated artwork and I am particularly interested in seeing Mathilda, Forsyth, Python, as well as everybody else! I absolutely love her aesthetic she brings with the characters, and can't wait to see if there will be any more new units too! -

I do like Silque's new design, it makes her stand out a lot more than Genny and makes her really look like she's from Zofia so she sticks out a bit in her Cleric's garb from Alm's troops. Kamui looks amazing and his Asian-styled appearance is really cool. Lukas I think is my favourite design so far due to his hair and colour scheme. Faye also looks adorable. The only ones I feel are slightly out of line from the other artworks are Kliff and Gray due to their different faces. I do love all of the art so far and Hidari's style perfectly suits the games! -

Japanese Website Renewal
Hoshidokoala replied to VincentASM's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Oh I know, I'm not too bothered by it, its just the lack of any piece of clothing covering her legs apart from a modesty cloth is a bit unrealistic. She still has a great personality and as I said before, all the art is amazing! -

I did like Kozaki's art style but I think that Hidari's perfectly captures the artwork I'd expect from a fire emblem game. Every character looks really cool (I do wish Mae was wearing a little more) and Hidari's style is perfect for the game.
