  1. Does anyone else dislike the spoils system? I think they were going for a risk/reward system, but for me, it's just annoying, especially with an enemy drops spoils that I have no way of getting to before an enemy unit does. Perhaps it would help if, when an enemy unit retrieves spoils, defeating that enemy would guarantee to drop those spoils, rather than those spoils disappearing forever.
  2. I don't know if the game's developers actually consider it a golden ending; I just know that guides/walkthroughs and TV Tropes refer to it as a golden ending, likely not knowing what else to call a secret fourth ending.
  3. I don't know; I haven't finished my first playthrough; I just know about the golden ending because I stumbled upon info about the golden ending online.
  4. You don't; you just have to make certain outside-the-box choices beforehand to unlock it, such as defending Roland without using the traps and stuff like that. I won't say the full list of stuff you have to do to unlock it here, but I will say that you can easily find the list online by searching "triangle strategy golden ending". Yeah; that fourth route is considered to be the game's golden ending.
  5. Ignatz is one of the least popular Golden Deer, he has virtually no plot relevance, and all his options have competition (archer/sniper: Bernadetta/Ashe/Leonie, Assassin: Petra/Felix, Mortal Savant: Felix). Overall, 2/10.
  6. I finally 100% completed Pokémon Legends: Arceus... sort-of. Since this game revolves around the exploring, finding and catching rather than the battling, I figured I would do what you're told to do at the very beginning of the game: seek out all Pokémon. So, I did; I set out to complete the Pokedex. I tracked down all 107 wisps and got Spiritomb, I did all the postgame stuff, and finally, when I was told that my Pokedex was complete, I faced off against Arceus and won. …And then I looked at my pokedex and noticed that, while I had managed to catch a Cleffa, I never completed the Pokedex entry for it. I spent the whole game thinking that you had to complete the Pokedex to obtain the final challenge (Arceus), but it turns out that you just have to catch every Pokemon, so why fill in the Pokedex then?!
  7. Possibly, but I still maintain that my prediction, Edge of Eternity, is also going to flop. It's a science-fantasy JRPG that has been sitting in early access for years, and I've just learned more info about it than I had when I made the prediction, and the new info does not look good. For one thing, it's already available to purchase, and I had no idea until I saw it five minutes ago on the Switch e-shop. This game has had practically zero marketing and barely any hype for it. Another glaring warning sign was that the Switch e-shop page for it says in bold: "THIS GAME REQUIRES INTERNET CONNECTION TO PLAY. PLEASE TRY OUT THE FREE DEMO BEFORE PURCHASE." This is a single-player JRPG with turn-based combat, and it's online-only. That's definitely not a good sign. At least the sheer negativity towards Babylon's Fall is giving it media attention; Edge of Eternity doesn't even have that.
  8. Fair enough; they're alright for "protect this character" missions. I guess I just don't like them for offense-focused missions, especially when they kill enemies and steal valuable experience points.
  9. I see. Thanks for the info. Personally, I would rather that strategy RPGs just stop with guest characters; they're a nuisance rather than a help.
  10. I recently completed the demo. Now, I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the game. The game is definitely interesting, and I think I'm starting to get more used to how turns are done via individual units rather than player phase & enemy phase. I'm still not a fan of the isometric layout as it can lead to some confusion when inputting directions, but I am enjoying the gameplay overall now that I've gotten more used to it. I'm just not sure how much I truly want to play it; I'm still not a fan of the conviction system that's kind-of at the core of the game; I'm all for having choices in games, but I don't like when numerical values are assigned to them. By the way, for chapter three, did the choice only affect where you go and which character you get, or did it factor into the conviction system?
  11. Thanks for the info. In that case then, Dorothea is definitely going to be playable in Three Hopes. She's the obvious choice for being the dancer character. I don't want to nitpick, but the actual class name in that game was tomato, not potato. "potato" was that game's version of armor knight.
  12. Apology accepted. Anyway, I think Dorothea's chances of being playable largely hinge on one thing: is the dancer class viable for a Warriors game? If yes, then she's definitely going to be playable in Three Hopes as she's the obvious choice for it.
  13. I replied to each statement in chronological order in which I read them; I saw your comment, wrote the reply, then saw the "let's move on" statement and agreed with it, as I didn't want to perpetuate the conversation (that I was late to anyway). I probably should've deleted the reply to you before posting.
  14. Dorothea is definitely very likely. She's a very popular character and she's the obvious choice for a dancer unit. Her main drawback is that she doesn't have plot-relevance, but not every character that's made playable needs to have plot-relevance. Plus, this is Koei Tecmo, so there's also fanservice as an incentive for Dorothea to be included. Overall, I'd say 9/10. I agree; let's move on. Her supports with Ferdinand were definitely great; I'm normally really not a fan of the "grudge held for years was born from a misunderstanding that could've been cleared up" trope, but I didn't mind it with them and at least it made sense.
  15. So... basically an even more flexible Eevee? Seriously; you're basically describing, "What if all of Eevee's evolutions then had a second evolution and Eevee was then made the starter Pokémon (again)".
  16. Ashe... His only plot relevance is through Lonato: an ultimately minor antagonist, he's reasonably liked as a character; not extremely popular but not unpopular, and he has some decent competition for the role of archer unit. Overall, I'd say 5/10.
  17. I'm currently playing the Hyzante version of chapter 3. I'm trying to be careful since I'm up against all mages, but the AI ally unit Exharme just rushes out and gets himself killed every time. Uncontrollable AI ally units are one of my least favourite things about strategy RPGs, so I was wondering: are there any consequences if Exharme is defeated in this chapter?
  18. I agree; Kasatai was definitely very interesting as a character, which is very impressive considering his character only appears for one chapter and he isn't even the actual boss of that chapter.
  19. It's that time of year again in many countries that spring springs ahead, so we lose an hour of the day, and I have to ask: why? A common misconception about Daylight Savings is that it helps farmers. It doesn't help farmers; definitive proof that comes from Canada: out of Canada's ten provinces, one province doesn't use daylight savings, and that one is Saskatchewan: the one whose economy is most dependent on farming. Farmers generally want nothing to do with daylight savings, and in fact, many oppose it. Then there's the idea that it saves energy. I'm sure it did in the past, but energy demands have changed since then. Does it still save energy anymore? Anyway, I just thought this might be something to discuss; what do you think of daylight savings?
  20. I don't know enough about Gilbert to really say, but probably a 2/10 at the most generous.
  21. I see. I knew that the units don't counterattack; I just remember that, when I got the shieldbearer, the bit of text about him said he could counterattack, so I was surprised when he didn't. Anyway, I'm currently at chapter 3, and I have to decide to either go to Aesfrost or Hyzante. I know already that this doesn't really affect the plot, just what mission you end up doing in this chapter and which of two mutually-exclusive units you get; one being an archer and the other being an ice mage. Since I'm just playing the demo, I plan to do both versions on separate save files and then decide on one if I get the game. But still, any advice about the voting system in this game?
  22. Okay; I decided to give the demo another try, and this time I completed chapters 1 and 2. I am warming up to the game a lot more, though I still haven't gotten used to it yet. It introduces a million things at once, and provides the player with knowledge about maybe 70% of it, particularly when it comes to the combat. It normally does not take me long to get used to a turn-based strategy game; I understood Valkyria Chronicles and Fire Emblem fairly quickly. I'm not sure what it is that's keeping me from getting used to this game. I also wasn't a fan of the shieldbearer lying to me; he said he would counterattack enemies that attack him, yet he just sat there doing nothing whenever he got attacked.
  23. Leonie isn't well-liked, and she has competition for cavalry (though if they go for bow cavalry rather than paladin, her only competition is Bernadetta). That said, she has her connection to Jeralt that she never stops talking about when around Byleth from being a former student of his, so she at least has some relevance in terms of character dynamics. I agree with those saying she's the least likely out of her, Marianne and Lysithea, but more likely than Raphael and Ignatz. I'd say 6/10. It would've been a 5/10, but then I realized that her unpopularity is such that it make them want to include her anyway in an attempt to redeem her her character in the eyes of the fanbase; what TV Tropes refers to as rescuing from the Scrappy heap.
  24. One reason there hasn't been any complaint about Legends: Arceus not having different versions is that it is an entirely single-player game; you can trade Pokémon with other players, but it is tacked-on almost as if it was an afterthought; everything else about the game is a single-player experience. Of course, another reason there aren't any complaints is that a lot of people see Legends: Arceus as a spinoff title. Anyway, the idea of implementing version differences in a game that isn't split into two versions has actually been done before: in Pokémon Platinum, when the player started a new file, the game would give that file a number called the trainer ID; if that number was odd, they would only find Cranidos fossils, and if it was even, they would only find Shieldon fossils. It wasn't much, but it was something.
