  1. Noel shook her head. "My world got ravaged by a monster to the point living at surface level became impossible. I-I mean, I won't pretend I lived through it personally, but the Black Beast's damage can still be felt in those who lose themselves to seithr exposure. Honestly, I think we've all come from places with pretty bad happenings. Is a comparison really needed?" She clenched her skirt. All this talk of past experiences made Noel wish she knew what her tribulations were specifically, yet at the same time she was afraid they'd be similar to the rest of them. Perhaps, she thought, it was a blessing she couldn't remember.
  2. Noel finished her plate right when the "fighting" started. She was left speechless by the careless nature of her teammates. "At this rate, we're gonna destroy each other before the real danger starts... Ah! I said that out loud!" Noel worried how they might react, but she realized she wasn't wrong. "W-well, what I meant to say was... we should save our strength. Yeah! Now, please calm down." Noel decided to sit on one of the nearby beds once she got up from the table. It was a bit firmer than it looked, but she figured more back support wasn't a bad thing. From here she listened to Genji's story intently.
  3. It was a quiz over a short biography of the writing of the Constitution. English class. I could see why that is confusing since word definitions are a distinctly English thing but anarchy is more a History topic. :P Oddly enough I can't remember the word being specifically in the reading. It was probably a fluff question.
  4. Probably sit at home and be baffled at why people like to be scared.
  5. So I was taking a quiz earlier today and this popped up. "Choose the person who most clearly could be described as an anarchist." Option A: "Midori thought that all organized government was unnecessary." Do what you will with that information.
  6. Noel looked over at the table felt a little doubtful about it. Still, she sat down and though up something to eat. Hmm... maybe I'll have some of that kagutsuchi pufferfish I ate once... True to the voices' word, the exotic Orient Town special appeared on the plate before. She drooled on sight and took a bite of it. Just as Noel remembered: somewhat painful in the mouth but the spicy flavor behind it was worth it. She was eager to take another bite, but Thyme's question did not fall on deaf ears. "Who... are we?" She contemplated for a moment. "Well, I can remember some details about my home. Like this dish I'm eating, the structure of our cities, even a few names. But... I can't remember how I fit into it. All I really remember is my occupation: former lieutenant." She let out a sigh. "At least the important stuff is still there. You know, personality and such."
  7. No, Salve and Salve II is what I spammed. Honestly, I can't tell what Immunize does. :P
  8. So I finished the original EO on DS a few months ago and I gotta say, I'm satisfied. I don't have much experience with the endgame content because the thought of facing even harder challenges, especially since my party won't get stronger from here, is terrifying but here's my two cents on the main game. I actually found the difficulty curve to be somewhat inverted to what most people would imagine. I just did all my heavy grinding early on and managed most to kill most normal enemies without breaking a sweat as I went deeper, even brand-new FOEs didn't stand much of a chance if I just spammed all my best skills. Though I will say the bosses and side challenges ranged anywhere from "I'm gonna make you use your brain for once" to "ATLUS HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!?" Case and point things like the final boss were a lot of fun, and being forced to spend three hours on floor 8 were absolute torture. My favorite aspect of Etrian was definitely character customization. It really does pain me that we couldn't get a more meaty story out of this (though what little story there is was actually better than I expected), but the fully customize-able party made up for it by the end of the game. Right from the beginning getting to choose the name, class, and haircut of every party member is a lot of fun and it really felt like my band was my own. I like to imagine my front-liners Fiora the Landsknecht and Xander the Protector were the brave and stoic powerhouses who never wavered in keeping the back-line safe. I was a Medic who put his all into keeping his stalwart warriors in the fights, Rose the Survivalist was a silent but strong ranger character, and James the Troubadour provided moral support and a cheery smile when things got tough. Graphically, the game shines in it's ability to produce large 3D corridors, but besides that and the wonderful art for the party members, it's a fairly uninteresting looking game due to a dungeon that takes its sweet time changing up the visual theme and monsters that just stare back. Finally, gameplay wise the best part by far is its cartography. Roughing out just a few more tiles of progress before popping that warp wire was always exciting. It's a fun mechanic that really makes the game worth suffering through its learning curve. Without it combat would be the only real meat to Yggdrasil and combat is really primitive if you think about it. So in conclusion Etrian Odyssey 1 a solid 7/10. If you like character customization and are feeling particularly thirsty for grinding one day give it a shot. Have fun risking your life to crawl home with the butterfly eyes you need for jewelry.
  9. Noel was surprised that the voices were actually critiquing Shepard's actions. She knew their guide would help them along, but she didn't expect it to have standards. She then looked at their newcomer Genji and asked, "So you're a ninja? You look pretty different from the ninjas I'm used to. Less noisy as well." She smiled and said, "Well, whatever kind of person you are, I-I hope we get along until we solve... uh, what we're here for! My name is Noel Vermilion." She suddenly appreciated how simple that introduction was.
  10. After thinking it over for a while, I'd prefer a leader who cares about what happens to the army's individual soldiers rather than purely who's gonna win. I choose Lucina because while she's never really shown leading others, I imagine she'd do a fine job considering her father was able on the battlefield (plus the avatar's tactics could be reused by her if she remembers them). But more so I think she be the most considerate of the lives she's risking after the amount of death and horror she lived through. I certainly wouldn't want to serve someone who didn't really think about minimizing casualties. Again, this is mostly a speculatory pick but I can be creative can't I?
  11. Finished against Taav. The match definitely had some great moments. :)
  12. Noel didn't seem to gain any new items, but she did feel inspired to try some new moves out. When Thyme tested cure out on her she smiled again as the healing enegy flowed trough her. "Ahhhh... I don't think any other healing will compare to that. Thanks for that Thyme!" She saw the new man in armor. He reminded her of the hero Hakumen, but there was too much green on his armor to be "the white void". Noel decided to allow him to speak first, instead playing a few battle scenarios in her head featuring the new attack ideas. Lead off with a kick... follow with and overhead... or let a barrage loose! So many choices...
  13. Glad to see I'm not the one one who resets their files because reasons. :P This kind of thing happens to me on darn near anything. Anyways there's way too many games to list here but one I can think of from recently is Etrian Odyssey. It took me a while to make a save file I really liked (tough I knew as soon as I beat the first boss).
  14. I've been playing it on the Nintendo DS. Just kinda came across it at a GameStop and said why not.
  15. I'm gonna wait until I play more of the games before I vote, because all I've played are dissidia, theater-rhythm, and IV. :P [spoiler=Will probably trigger you]Though honestly I was shocked at how much I was finding unlikable about 4. I mean, I see why people like it but the combat system is so clunky IMO! It feels like the game wants to be an action-role-playing game, but it chooses to use menus instead, and trying to handle 5 characters in real time is a pain in the butt as a result. If they did they system like World of Final Fantasy, Child of Light, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, ect. I'd might find it pretty good but... yeah. Also the story is really dated if you think about it so that doesn't help. Ironically, because I want to make my next purchase not have a combat system similar to 4's (and yes I'm willing to give the main series another go) I'm looking into titles the fan base at large dislike (like XIII). Btw Dissidia 012 is awesome and totally my favorite haha.
  16. Happy birthday Nowi! Not sure where you got Seliph's Blade from but I'm not complaining!
  17. Yep, this looks good! Also yeah probably a safe bet not to throw in the joke passive. Besides if Calamity Trigger is any indication, having the other party members insult her features would cause the next enemy for the team to fight be HER (rip Bang). As for world suggestions I'm not picky.
  18. This sounds fairly accurate. Noel's base damage in BB is pretty low, and with the exception of Optic Barrel she depends on being close to land hits. Her greatest strengths are having the run-speed to close that gap, and turning one successful hit into a long string of hits (fear the Drive button!). Or just have her do this:
  19. Yeah, I'm not sure which one would be better myself. I guess I do lean more towards a fresh start though cause I'd rather not infringe on the original plans. Also maybe to get more people, but that's probably just me being wishful since I used to play D&D with 13 other people at once. Though a mechanics overhaul could make an enlarged player pool possible.
  20. Probably get terrified she broke in and tell her to leave (and cover her thighs better).
  21. Male- Kaze, because he is without a doubt the most likable male in the game. He never clings to a gimmick in order to stay interesting, he just picks a personality and runs with it. And thankfully its a good personality. Shoutout to Takumi and Hinata as my runner-ups. Female- Azura. Just Azura. Maybe not the most interesting character plot wise, but at least one you can sympathize with (or maybe it's just me). And Rena's singing. It's so good! Avatar gender- Male, because I'm not female. And I guess I consider avatar characters as vessels for the player as opposed to puppets we design and drop into the world. When you look at it that way, I'm going male no doubt. Game: Birthright. I haven't finished Revelations yet, but I don't really need to in order to caopare them gameplay-wise because Birthright is more manageable for me already (too many characters for my taste in Revelations). Conquest just makes me feel like a jerk (and it's maybe a bit too tough). Overall Birthright's more fun because it let's me play the way I want to without making me feel like I missed something for doing it.
  22. This is totally compounded by Kana's mother support. Why the frick-frack is Peri telling someone to not kill stuff?
