  1. The only 4 you can pass down (using only nightmare anyway) are the 4 normally passed down in the regular game. If you replace Holsety with Thor Hammer, Thor Hammer will just poof in gen 2 (unless you put it elsewhere)
  2. I got all the maps from http://www.fireemblemwod.com/ It has all the maps from FE1-FE13, no fates maps yet, among other stuff. It's a really useful site. It's spanish though, but still very easy to navigate.
  3. I'm fairly certain that if the weapon is a holy weapon and isn't Holsety, Valkyrie or Ichieval (maybe the Gae Bolg too,) it won't be inherited in gen 2, so keep that in mind. Unless someones found a workaround for that.
  4. I get what you're trying to say, but it's really a bit of a stretch. Terrain bonuses really ruin a lot of maps (floor tiles......) and i've picked out a few that are especially bad below (not because of terrain, because every single indoor map is a crapshoot because you perpetually have 70 hit).
  5. Hannibal is really bad. His offence is bad, his movement is bad, and funnily enough his durability isn't actually that great when he gets doubled by everything and FE4 weapons have really high MT (not to mention a lot of magic in the next few maps). 0.5/10, worst unit in the game
  6. Even if she proc's continue, she doesn't do enough damage to kill Alvis in two hits. The man has 80HP/40 defence. Altenna can only do a max of 32x2 to him (if Dragon master cap is 27 strength, too lazy to check.
  7. She gets pursuit as soon as she promotes (so pretty much immediately) since it's a Dragon Master skill. Altenna also can't ORKO Alvis, she can't double him (with the Gae Bolg) even with the speed ring.
  8. Altenna joins at a really unfourtunate time. She doesn't do much of anything in her join map since she joins so late, (and isn't tied to Thracia castle, why IS), leaving only chapter 10 and endgame, both of which are filled with Status staves and magic enemies, and Altenna has absolutely terrible resistance. Her other stats are all very very good, but flight isn't terribly useful in FE4 since you don't get road bonuses and she just doesn't do anything special really. The Gae Bolg can oneshot some annoying enemies I guess, but as a holy weapon it's eclipsed by all of the but Ichieval. I'll give her a 3.5/10 (including +0.5 bias because she's cool) for just being another combat unit that joins very late and is weak against most of the enemies while she exists.
  9. You might wanna look up some secret events (i'm pretty sure they're listed as such on site), there are some very missable items that are pretty great. Other than that, the only thing I think you need to actually know is you need the pursuit skill and more attack speed to double, and attack speed is just a units speed minus the weight if their weapon (can be negative). I personally find games more fun the first time around by finding out how units perform on your own instead of choosing a team based on what someone else says (not that this matters a whole lot in FE4, since you can deploy everyone). Don't be afraid of the arena, there's no penalty for losing (other than having a 1HP unit at the start of a chapter, but hey, its free exp for your healers that are doing nothing at the start anyway!). It's pretty easy to figure out who's a good unit in FE4 anyway, thanks to holy blood.
  10. Aless on promotion has the same magic stat as Oifaye and Continue is a more reliable proc than critical, and his magic is only 1-2 points less than Celice who doesn't have any skill to augment his offence. He's probably the second best magic sword user in gen 2 after Fee (on promotion). 1-2 range really isn't that important in FE4 anyway. I get the feeling people just don't give him magic swords because he doesn't really need them to be awesome, unlike someone like Fee who really needs one for good offence.
  11. Aless is pretty good, holy weapon, mount, good skills (he even has ambush for some reason). Can dodge status staves pretty well. His caps are kinda weak, but they're still good enough. Once he promotes he can even use magic swords off a decent magic stat. That being said, he joins a little late. I'll still give him an 8.5 since he starts strong and remains strong till the end.
  12. some really dumb weapons (a lance with 50 crit in a game with no crit evade) and just the way stats work.
  13. i can host stuff now if need be, got a somewhat free stretch of 3 weeks here. plz no gaiden LA, it'd be terrible.
  14. He has access to every non holy, non light magic weapon in the game, and has pursuit, continue and critical, with the highest mounted caps. What boss (other than Julius, Alvis, and maybe Areone) does he have issues with? He'll easily kill the generic bosses on most of the castles + others like Ishtar.
  15. Leaf is great, once he promotes. The rescue staff is way more useful in gen 2 and he makes great use of it, and his offence is top notch. He still has to dwaddle through a chapter or two of unpromoted life though. 9/10.
  16. Even in more casual play, mounted units do other small overlooked tasks like saving villages, (or saving them for more money!) that people probably take for granted too. There are other things too, like killing sleep staff bishops in gen 2, that unmounted units just can't do. It's not just from an "efficient" standpoint that unmounted units are less useful, there are things that they simply don't do as well (or at all) because of their class. It's like Noish not being able to double because he doesn't have pursuit.
  17. As long as you keep backups and are ok with it, whatever floats your boat, the interface is pretty nice. I just haven't had the same luck unfourtuantely. If you have any other questions I can probably answer them in the future.
  18. I'm a bit confused what you're asking. If you open the 1st gen character editor (or the holy character editor) they're all in a dropdown menu: for example: If you want wrath and continue you'd use 0x05 (wrath is 0x01, continue is 0x04 as listed in the dropdown menu). If you add the skills value's together (01+04=05) you get the skill combination. If you wanted Continue (0x04) Charisma (0x10) and Awareness (0x40) you'd use 0x54 to attain this. Make sure you use a hex calculator though. If you're only in the prologue I doubt FE4Edit and bungled things up yet, but it has a tendency to overwrite important stuff and break the game if you continue using it. I'd recommend sticking to nightmare and hex editing only (if you know how to do so), nightmare can do everything it can anyway as far as I'm aware + more, other than some possible eventing (which is pretty much in use at your own risk territory). Or at least backup your work a lot. From what it sounds like you're doing though, nightmare seems both easier and more convenient.
  19. It tells you right in the editor when you open it in nightmare: (note this rom may or may not be edited, it's a testrom i'm using for a project of my own) I don't recomment using FE4Edit either, it has a tendency to break things. Also if you change skills on weapons it's probably a good idea to change it's name too (the new patch and edited roms don't get along well though, so I recommend using the old translation): Obviously if you wanna change the Thief sword to the elite sword or something, you could just set the steal ability back to 0x00 and swap elite to 0x01 to make things easy. "Killer" sword is a killing edge.
  20. Yeah, it's actually pretty simple. The seemingly "blank" skills are actually multiple skills from the same dropdown menu. So for instance, in the "skills 1" dropdown menu 0x03 is both Wrath and Pursuit. EDIT: only ready half of your post. You can use the "Class Skill Editor" to make other skills class skills (there are unused pointers that you can assign them too, (like 0x2000 i'm pretty sure is unused, but it's not hard to check yourself). You can also replace other class skills like Charisma (since only princess has it) with another skill. Similarly there's an "Item skill table editor" that works the same but is for weapons.
  21. if you kill the pirates with it in chapter 3 + the axe knights in chapter 5 alone that's already almost 30 kills in two turns, and giving someone who needs to promote (Beowulf or something) the hero sword to kill all the pirates is pretty standard fare. Then Sigurd's gonna be leading the pack to get the Vylon with the hero sword in chapter 5, so it's not a tall order if you think about things or plan ahead a bit - it's also something that makes life easier both during the period you're building kills on it or later on when it has 50 kills. Shanan also has a very real chance of being oneshotted by Blume (at decent hit too). You also get Aless in the same map who can get there faster and doesn't get oneshotted if you're all about reliability or w/e.
  22. there's very little reason why you wouldn't want to build kill on the best non holy weapon sword in the game. Even if you give it to someone else Celice can easily tangle with Blume with the hero sword he gets from Patty earlier in the map, and Ishtar doesn't have a prayer against him in chapter 8.
  23. The thing about units like Shanan and Holsety!Sety is they kill enemies like 8 times over, where most of your units do a fine job of killing enemies without holy weapons. Having overkill offence doesn't actually help Shanan kill many units that other units like Delmud and Oifaye can't.
