  1. Sending it via PM would be preferable! It'd prevent clutter here and it means that we can go into greater detail in both planning a character and a role in the story for you.
  2. Cool as Ice Arteria passed Serge in the locker room, grinning as the mercenary shouted at her. "He fought well, but he died in such a dull way. A waste of my time, there are many more I would have preferred to toy with." she rasped, visibily bored and unaffected by Abdul's defeat at her hands. "Serge, the kill means nothing if it has no meaning attached to it. I could kill you right here and now and all it would serve to do is make my brother short one plaything." Sitting herself down on one of the benches, Arteria began admiring her weapon, her eyes running from the hilt towards the edge. "Perhaps the Princess will cower in fear as I cleave into the flesh of her allies... or maybe she'll relish in the beauty of her own loss." she muttered, lost in her own mad ramblings. Octon passed Serge as he left to enter the arena. The young man had been wildly enthusiastic when he had been with Abdul, but there was a new harsh determination in his eyes. Gripping his sword, he stepped out into the arena. Lilith rose slowly, looking over at Arteria. "Friend of yours?" she asked, passing Serge to make her own way to the arena. "You've got a vagrant to worry about first, it's not guaranteed either of you will make it to the final." Win to Lose "I'll cheer so much that Serge throws in the towel just stepping into the arena." Esclabor replied, smirking as Cass issued her challenge. Even after Cass' demands he seemed overconfident in his fighter's ability - and whatever aid Nelon had provided. "Ceirch came top of his class, makes sense anyone he teaches or instructs does well. Just wait and see, Princess. I heard that Serge was picked up at the Dank Codger, he's definitely not a wimp, but you can only crawl so high from the gutter without help." Nelon nodded his head obediently. "I shall do my best, Princess. If Serge is able to find a viable strategy, it should be possible for him to succeed. However, as motivated as he may be, I am uncertain he can devise one in such a short amount of time." he replied. Both barons were stunned by Arteria's brutal execution of Abdul, neither of them having seen her swordplay at work. "Who is that little bitch..." Esclabor gasped, his bravado completely knocked back. "She just gutted him, right there and then... perhaps it's a good thing Shaggy was such a cheap investment." Octon and Lilith stepped out into the arena, the crowd's response still rather weak as they recovered from Arteria's brutal display. Lilith looked up at Alain, giving him a confident nod as she got into position. "Here's Octon, I think this is his second time, will he manage to get past the first round this time?" the announcer called out, a hint of uneasiness present in her voice. "Or will the newcomer, Lilith, put him in his place?" The battle's start was rather sudden, and it was rather obvious that Lilith had Octon outmatched. Her strikes were cleaner, her footwork was better, the young man was struggling to fend her off. However, despite the clear mismatch, Octon's attacks glanced her a few times, even as his wounds grew more severe. It had barely been a minute and Lilith's flurry of strikes had Octon gasping for breath, blood trickling down his face. Lilith smirked, as terrifying as her next opponent would be, this match's outcome was clear. Or at least she thought it had been. Slashing across the man's chest, the swordress was very much surprised to hear metal on metal - he'd blocked her blow. Pushing back with his sword, he sent Lilith staggering backwards, raising his blade for an attack of his own. It had almost been too quick to see. Stepping past Lilith and cutting across her with a single slash, Octon turned around, only for his opponent to drop to the ground - knocked out cold. The crowd cheered, although Esclabor looked noticeably displeased. "And Octon claims his first victory! Will he be able to stand against Ither? More importantly, will he be able to stand after Ither is finished with him?" the announcer proclaimed. "We're moving on to round two, and with some excellent contestants, it's anyone's guess who will come out on top!" You shall not pass Tytila Castle was on a far different level to Hull's own, the towering structure making Freya's own location seem small in comparison. Two guards, armed with spears and clad in slate gray armour, stood at either side of the large wooden door. Putting their spears across it as Freya approached, it appeared that she wasn't entirely welcome to set foot any further. "Our apologies, but we are under strict instruction to not allow anyone in unaccompanied by a member of nobility." one announced, unmoving from the spot. "It is nothing personal, but there is no telling who you are. Security comes first!" The other guard was perhaps a little more understanding, or at least he recognised Freya's armour. "Oh? You're one of the visitors from Wyke, right?" he asked, lowering his spear slowly as he turned to his comrade. "She might be looking for some of her own people, gotta be some nobles she reports to. We saw a pair head out the doors a while back, two women, no clue where they went though. Word is that we got one of your guys studying at the Academy, maybe they went to go see him?" "That's quite enough gossip, you're on duty." the first guard lectured, still keeping his spear in position. "Might as well tell her what colour underwear you've got on." Devil's Mask Ferdinand chuckled, giving Sidney another sly smile. "My songs often remind people of things they've done, it's the beauty of music... anyone can relate to it. No song sounds the same to two people, they'll both get something different from it." he soothed, a small group of people gathering around the pair. Letting out another laugh, he stepped back from Sidney, running his hands through his green hair. "It must have been a trick of your eyes, I smile for my music and little else. As with my songs, people often attribute the meaning they want to what they see, wishful thinking, maybe?" The people around them nodded agreeably, either accepting his sentiment or simply admiring his choice of words. "However, if you're still curious, you would be more than welcome to join my group at the Golden Experience." he offered, extending a hand. "We're always looking for individuals with an interest in the arts, perhaps you might be able to find your place in the Tytila musical scene?" Iron Pants Graham nodded his head, smiling for the first time in perhaps weeks. "I understand Owen, as soon as I'm strong enough to help you, I'll do my best to be by your side." he replied, interrupted by a ringing of a bell. Turning towards the far side of the hall, Graham looked down nervously. "That's a sign for us to go back to our quarters... I'll get in trouble if I spend too long getting there." Thwomp looked on as Graham hurried away, the young man's armour clunking as he ran. "He good person." Thwomp commented, listening to Owen as Graham disappeared from sight. "Thwomp is lucky to train in Raewald, we have more places and things than Wyke. Thwomp try to teach Graham to use head instead of body. When opponent bigger and stronger, you need to think about winning. Sometimes, big people forget things they learn when little."
  3. I am THE SHIN, and I'm totally around. Thank you very much for showing interest, the best thing to do would be to familiarise yourself with the setting - the descriptions in the original post should provide some basic details. When you know the countries, check out what's happened so far in the plot summary, then you should be roughly prepared to start drafting a character together. The roles are all used up, so it would be easier to try and come up with a role you'd be willing to play. I'm very flexible in what you can ride with, but I'd implore you to make it at least relevant to the setting. So nothing like a random orphan turned mercenary or a nihilistic edge lord bent on revenge against some non-established threat. Here are a few examples to get going; A disillusioned soldier from Deira uneasy with their country's invasion of Wyke A Raewaldean noble looking to take part in the brewing conflict A reformed bandit from Magonsaete, hoping to find a new life on the continent These are only examples and it is very much appreciated if you're able to come up with something coherent! If you need help, just ask! Stats work as intended within the OP, but if you get stuck, feel free to drop me a message. Try not to minmax, the system's designed to accommodate fun rather than power gaming! There's no rush, so take your time in considering what kind of character you'd like to play!
  4. Most RPs happen here as play by post, it's incredibly unusual to see anything that's done via IM. It also makes things hard with timezones, you're either waiting a while on people or exluding them, so it might as well be play by post. What is slightly more feasible is an RP central hub. However, whilst a nice idea, I'm not sure what it would really accomplish. RPs tend to have their own dedicated chat groups and as shown by the roleplay chat section, there's very little discussion outside of specific roleplays.
  5. Silent Viewing "I was focused on Shaggy's lance work, princess. Military technique varies between various nations, Raewald and Wyke both appear to have different methods in their education." Nelon replied, sitting himself upright as soon as Cass addressed him. "When Baron Esclabor and I found Shaggy, it took some time to comprehend his technique." Esclabor patted his friend firmly on the back, catching him by surprise. "Baron Nelon managed to sharpen him up a little. He'd been out of work for a while, but a few pointers from the top of the class was enough to bring him up to speed. They're both pretty quiet, no wonder they got along so well. You'd be surprised at what he can manage, Lady Herman." Esclabor added in. "You should have been there for Ceirch's knighting. I think we got a smile out of him afterwards, the rest of us celebrated more than he did." Shaggy looked briefly up at Cass' group before departing, staggering back towards the locker room. Bob, however, had been dragged away, most likely to receive medical attention. The next combatants had entered the arena, a tall dark skinned man wearing a turban and a significantly smaller robed individual. Abdul bowed his head as he took his place opposite his foe, but his opponent didn't return the gesture. Instead, they dropped their robe to the ground, revealing a familiar figure. A dark haired woman with a sadistic grin on her face, none other than Arteria herself. She glanced up at Cass, giving her an unsettling gaze. "It appears there was a mix up in our registration, Ither is a woman!" the announcer called out, the crowd cheering in anticipation of the next battle. "Abdul hails from a faraway land, can his foreign skills contend with this unknown fighter?" Abdul's first strike was an impressive one, his unusual stance getting the better of Arteria. Her eyes widened as the blow struck her side, a stream of red blood pouring from her side. "So that's how you do it... how interesting. I would love to experience such a blow a second time, if you don't lose your arm before I'm done with you." she cackled, looking Abdul in the eye. "What kind of monster are you?" Abdul stammered, horrified at his foe's admiration of his attack. Lunging forwards, Arteria returned with an attack of her own, clearly aiming for lethality as she struck his shoulder. No matter how many times Abdul struck her, she wouldn't falter, always retaliating and carving into him. Panting and clutching his side, Abdul appeared ready to try and end the match with a finishing blow. However, he never got his chance. "Too predictable, it only took a few tries to figure you out." Arteria lectured, having driven her blade right through his middle and out his back.. "I'll save you a journey home, maybe you'll be luckier in another life." Blood dripping from his mouth, Abdul reached forwards, his sword falling from his grip. Abdul collapsed to the ground, his chest fluttering as he gasped for air. Shaking the blood from her blade, Arteria smirked, walking back towards the locker room. The crowd was horrified, there were only a few claps and weak cheers, the brutality of Arteria's last attack was too much for the soft Raewaldean crowd. "Ither comes out on top with a vicious display... this may be a good time for a reminder of the non-lethality policy." the announcer called out, watching as Abdul was carried away by a group of attendants. "Perhaps one of Lilith or Octon will stand a better chance?" - Forgotten Friends Ferdinand stopped as Sidney tapped his shoulder, his entourage pausing with him. The young man politely lifted Sidney's hand from his shoulder, placing it down gently. "Oh my, a fan? I'm rather touched." he charmed, his face blissfully ignorant of Sidney's ire - either that or he had a fantastic facade. "And one who knows my name, how wonderful. Perhaps we may have met in our youths? I have to apologise, but I can't put a name to your face... you remind me awfully of someone... was it Montana? No, that can't be. Last I heard she was in the depths of a dungeon somewhere..." Another member of his band stepped forward, another foppish young man dressed not too dissimilar to Ferdinand. "Groupies again, Ferdinand?" he jibed, nudging his friend in the side gently. "Save some girls for the rest of us, can't have you charming them all."
  6. Considering the vast number of health questions that you've come with here, I would still strongly recommend seeing a professional rather than asking total strangers online. From the sounds of it, you've completely confused your body with the vast array of things you've subjected it to. Sleep is relatively simple to sort out. If you keep patterns regular, you're unlikely to run into issues. From the sounds of it, you're giving yourself another problem by trying to fix the previous one - if you're drinking tea before bed, the chances are you may need to get up during the night. Other than seeing a professional, I'd recommend giving this a read. It's from an official information body and contains some helpful tips that you can try yourself.
  7. Even Serge began to win Esclabor grumbled as Serge was announced victorious, glancing over at Nelon - who appeared incredibly calm about the matter. "Maybe he's not as bad as I thought... but Shaggy's going to wipe the floor with him." Esclabor muttered quickly, clearly having underestimated Serge's prowess. The next match was quickly sorted, with both Bob and Shaggy entering out into the arena. Bob towered over Shaggy, the muscle-bound brute making the vagrant appear incredibly feeble. Bob raised his arm the air, his thick muscular arms covered in scars and tattoos. Shaggy shuffled forward, perhaps not even realising what was happening. "Bob returns for his fifth tournament, will he claim first place this time around?" the announcer called out, the crowd uneasy in their applause for Bob. "Or will Shaggy, a completely unknown newcomer come out victorious? Only time can tell!" Letting out another roar, the crowd went wild as the battle began, with Shaggy quickly circling around Bob before making his first strike. As dishevelled and as vacant as he appeared, the man's lance work was phenominal, deflecting Bob's own attacks with frightening ease. "Stop it you filthy little rat!" Bob roared, letting out a grunt as Shaggy struck him in the ribs. "Why... can't I hit you!" Shaggy didn't even respond, or even acknowledge his opponent beyond his attacks - his eyes weren't even focus on him, simply staring upwards. Forcing Bob against the wall, Cass and her friend could feel the impact of the brute as his back bumped into it. Shaggy had left him with nowhere to go. A final well placed blow across the chest was enough. Bob let out a groan, slumping to the ground. The crowd went silent, in awe of the filthy man that had felled a threatening foe. "The winner is... Shaggy?" the announcer gasped, looking to her two guards as if she needed confirmation. "Shaggy is the winner! He shall face Serge during round 2!" Esclabor sat back in his seat, crossing his arms smugly as he looked down at his unwitting fighter, who only stared back up like a vegetable. "Told you that he was good, the man's got a lance arm that could stop a battering ram." Esclabor remarked, patting Nelon on the back. "Ceirch and I picked out a real winner." Royal Reassurance Owen's last few sentences had Graham's full attention, it wasn't clear what had changed but the young noble had taken some comfort in Owen's words. Letting out a subdued laugh, Graham looked up at Owen. "You're right, Owen... maybe I need to try to have more faith in other people. Jeeves was always saying that I couldn't spend my entire life alone. I'm always so afraid to reach out to other people, it's hard to know what they'll think of what I say." he replied, relaxing his posture a little. "If I've got people like you to go to for advice... maybe I'll be able to learn. I've spent so long living in my own little world, I need to take my first few steps into the one that I share with everyone else." Thwomp bowed his head, his terrifying features contorting into an almost childlike smile. "Thwomp happy to help, Prince Owen." Thwomp replied, putting one of his hands behind his head. "Thwomp know what it like to be different from others, it hard at first, but there ways to reach out." Rhyme Time "They normally spend the entire evening there, it shouldn't be too hard to catch them at the Golden Experience." the young man replied, somewhat sceptical of Sidney's unusual curiosity. The musicians were slowly making their way away from the stage, they had most likely finished for the evening. "You're dressed the part, getting into the bar shouldn't be hard... if you really feel like you need to talk to him, it's best to do it there or try and catch him on the way there." Delaying Paying The store owner nodded, crossing his arms and straightening his posture. "I have no issues with that. I would not be able to start work until tomorrow morning regardless." he replied, stepping away from his counter. "If you are able to come in tomorrow, I can get started right away. Shouldn't be more than a few days to get it finished, your armour's design isn't too difficult to work with." Third Wheel Decima appeared as on edge as ever, not only had her fears been almost confirmed but Angus was looking to voluntarily meet Nona. "I see, Nona's inside, I'll knock first." she replied, bringing her hand to the door to knock. Tapping it three times, she called out to her sister. "Nona? Is it safe to come in? I've got Angus with me." Decima asked, waiting for her sister's reply. "Decima, I could be getting changed and I'd still say yes, there's nothing to be embarrassed about with Angus around." Nona replied, her tone as jovial as her reply. Shaking her head, Decima eased the door open, walking through and beckoning for Angus to follow. Nona was sat on the bed casually, her legs crossed and her arms stretched out against the bed behind her. "Angus, how good to see you." Nona chirped, giving him and Geoffrey a playful wave. "Did the meeting with Queen Ethel go well? I hope you didn't get too bored listening to all the royals around you."
  8. I did karate for a year, however I ran out of time for it. A shame, it was pretty fun.
  9. Whilst people shouldn't be unpleasant, trying to any sort of negative piece of criticism is only going to stifle your growth as an artist. I've seen several art topics on here where the OP has outright attacked anyone who dared say their work wasn't good or gave any advice, and I feel that they've been the ones who have remained most static in their work. Besides, nobody's quite as TALENTED as myself, so you shouldn't feel too bad.
  10. Dorothy - Basically another Wolt, the two aren't particularly different except you can replace Wolt with her if he gets massively screwed by his first few levels. 2.5/10 Saul - In the long run, Niime will replace him as a staffbot, but he has the best staff rank in the early game which is pretty key considering how slow it goes up. He can also kinda fight too, although don't expect him to finish stuff off. 7.5/10 Sue - Inferior to Shin, just like Horace is, but she's a straight upgrade for Wolt/Dorothy. She'll double pretty much everyone forever and her poor might can be fixed somewhat by throwing better bows at her. Mobility really helps too. 6.5/10 Zealot - Slightly buffer than Marcus but he comes after most of the nasty maps, however, your losers really appreciate having a second crutch. He lasts a little while, but his overall contributions aren't quite as good as Marcus. 5/10 Treck - His stats are fairly underwhelming, he's worse than a trained Alan but I guess he could act as a replacement if you were really hurting for another cav. Later on he misses a lot of doubling thresholds and his hit is really shaky. However, despite this, he's at least mobile and has a chance for some self improvement on the isles. 4/10
  11. Tarquin had found the chicken mascot a little unusual, but Nikolai had been entirely defeated by it. Either he had been reminded of something from his terrible past, or the power of modern advertising was simply too much for him to manage? Tarquin didn't need to worry about it himself. Being tricked by advertising was for people who didn't have the money to afford things, someone as clever as Tarquin couldn't possibly fall for any devious tricks like that. Some people just didn't think sometimes. Content with his self-perceived insight, he decided it was in their best interest to comply with the recommendations - if only for Nikolai's nerves. "I think we'll change our order to that, then." Tarquin replied, having been won over by the powers of commercialisation. Julia looked at the pair as if they were children, they'd somehow taken several minutes to make an order anyone else could have done in seconds. Passing his card to the girl to pay for the meal, Tarquin's decision to observe people making purchases and his previous experience at the bookstore had been incredibly useful. Julia sighed, the queue that had formed behind the boys was rather substantial. Stepping to the side to await their order, Tarquin tugged at Nikolai's sleeve, wanting to make sure he was OK. "So far so good." Tarquin whispered, giving the googly eyed mascot a quick glance. "I think this is the part where we wait, the giant chicken thing should leave us alone now."
  12. I was waiting for the day I could link this. Here's a brief set of notes about making the most out of signing up to an RP. I heard the guy who wrote it is really handsome!
  13. Misplaced Optimism "It's a nice thought, but what the peasants think doesn't mean squat. There's a reason everyone listens to your father, people at the bottom follow what those above them say. Even if you get them on your side, nobility's going to roast you alive, and anyone who stands with you. We don't know what Wyke's going to be like when we get back, you might just be enough to send it into chaos." Esclabor replied, still somewhat bitter about his previous mistreatment by Cass. Adele had raised a few additional points, but even they hadn't been enough to win him over. "Just because people don't agree with you doesn't make them fools. You're the ones breaking the norm, you can't expect people to all share your views or be thrown aside because they don't agree with-..." "Thomas, that is enough. As unorthodox as the union of Princess Cassandra and Lady Herman is, we cannot assume the worst is guaranteed." Nelon interjected, attempting to prevent the discussion from becoming too heated. "They are no longer children, they must make decisions for themselves. If the outcome is in their favour, then there shall be no issues. However, I am certain that they acknowledge things are unlikely to be ideal and straight forward. Esclabor sighed, still not content. "I hear you, Ceirch. I just don't want to go seeing their heads on stakes, not really my kind of decor." he replied. "It's a sad day when marrying Kearney is a better alternative... well, might as well enjoy watching Serge getting thrown about." Even Steven The two men had entered the arena, the crowd surrounding them in the stands. Many of the crowd were commoners, although there were pockets of nobles sat in the more optimal seating, brightly coloured clothes standing out from the washed out tones of the peasants. The announcer, a smartly dressed woman with two armed guards following her, stepped out into the middle of the arena. A loud bell sounded, quieting down the audience. "Welcome to Tytila's Colleseum! Our first battle is between two unknown fighters! Serge and Steve!" she called out, her voice being drowned out by the cheers. "Will either progress beyond the second round? Or are they simply interchangeable footstools for their next opponent? Let the battle begin." Steve stood at the other side of the arena to Serge, his eye still twitching as he gripped his blade. "He looks really scar-... fuck... what I am doing?" he panicked, his hand shaking. "No, Steve, he's just as much as a... a loser like you. He probably bums around bars and does any job he finds."
  14. Hello there! It's very nice for both of you to show your interest but all of the main story roles have been allocated. Considering this, I would ask you both to get some idea of both the setting and current events by reading the thread, then coming up with an character concept. If there is something you're not sure about, feel free to ask!
  15. Thany - She's got butts for offense for a little while, but her mobility and flying powers are a real boon considering your next flier is Tate. She definitely dominates the mid-game until Miledy gets going. She kinda falls off in terms of offense towards the end of the game, but Miledy or even Tate or Zeiss can easily take over by then. 7/10 Chad - He can steal some swag early on, but he's quickly replaced by Astol and buyable keys. He's never going to fight ever, but there stuff in chapters 3 and 6(?) that he can snag that's only obtainable by him. 3/10 Lugh - His stats are pretty OK and he can chip without you having to rely on a 70%. I've never found him particularly amazing in the long run, but he doesn't run the risks being being doubled like Lilina does and is significantly easier to get going. He might hit D staves if you're lucky, but his endgame role is a walking 1-2 range fireball launcher. He can cheese wyverns with Aircalibur too. 6/10 Clarine - She's mobile and her stats are generally pretty OK. She has butts for magic and the odds are she'll never tickle anyone with more than Thunder, but being able to move, heal and dodge gives her a great degree of flexibility. Saul probably has more utility with staves, but Clarine is definitely a healer worth having around. 7/10 Rutger - I actually think he's overhyped, he kills everything up to 8x, but the isles gives everyone else a chance to catch up and you probably want to save your Killing Edge for bosses. His strength doesn't hold in the long term, and the late game enemies are really tanky. Still, there's some bosses that are scream worthy without him early on, and Gel in Sacae and a lot of the nomad bosses are a pain otherwise. 8.5/10
  16. Friendly Contest Abdul laughed gently, putting his hand on top of Serge's. Octon followed shorly after, their three hands united in the middle of a small circle. "As long as you're not too beat up after I show you my stuff." Octon boasted, smiling confidently. "Abdul and I have known each other for a little while, we get along pretty well. You seem like a decent enough guy, no harm in making a few new friends, right?" Lilith smirked, letting the three men make their conversation, she didn't really have any interest in making any friends. Shaggy was still stood gormlessly by himself, almost unaware of the other people around him. One of the arena attends had popped his head through the door, it was time for the first match. "Serge and Steve? You're up." he called out. The ginger in the corner stood up suddenly, muttering something to himself. It was likely he was Steve. Not too disimilar in build to Serge, the young man's eye twitched as he hurried to the door - nerves likely having gotten the better of him. Nameless Noble "Never heard of a Sidney Faren, miss." the younger man replied, furrowing his brow. "Ain't heard a name like that at all." The old man was pleasantly confused, he didn't appear to get any of the subtext in the conversation at all. Looking back at the stage, the young man pointed his thumb at the singer. "That's the son of Duke Aldus, Ferdinand. His dad's real important, used to be really good friends with the king. I've seen him about a few times, looks really scared nowadays." he muttered, keeping his voice low. "Ferdinand's a real charmer though, the ladies go nuts over him... heard he's not exactly pleasant though." Wedding Invite There was a silence after Cass revealed her wedding plans, both Nelon and Esclabor had been left completely speechless. Nelon appeared particularly puzzled, the revelation something that had probably not even crossed his mind. Esclabor began to laugh though, shaking his head merrily. "Makes more sense than marrying Kearney, your kids would probably end up half bear." he jibed, using any excuse to make fun of Angus. His expression became more serious than either Cass or Adele had ever seen it. "You think that you can pull it off though? I don't particularly care about true love or any of that nonsense." he added, his tone almost patronising. "Being Princess doesn't mean shit when you pull a stunt like this, it won't fly when we get home. I'm loyal to royalty, but I'm not going to burn with you supporting a mad whim. I hope you understand that your dad can't just fix them if you ask nicely, some things just don't fly in modern society." Nelon had taken more time to choose his words, either out of politeness or needing time to think. "Princess, forgive my insolence, your choice is one that I do not oppose... but is now truly the best time to arrange a wedding?" Nelon asked, remaining calmer than Esclabor. "Baron Esclabor raises a valid point. We are in a foreign nation with limited supplies and our home nation is under siege. I understand your feelings, but these are difficult times. I do not wish for them to become more difficult for you." Get Thwompy... or Thwompless? "Never thought I'd see someone askin' for less armour." the store owner replied, scratching his bald head. He leaned forward across the counter, examining Freya to an extent where his faces was only inches from her. "I think I can work something out for you. You'll end up sacrificing some durability in the long run, but it should be more flexible at least. People always go for the joints in armour, so covering them up always makes it harder, both to attack but also for the wearer to move." Freya is given options! 300G - +1/5% Speed, -1/5% Def 500G - +2/5% Speed, -1/10% Def 900G - +2/10% Speed, -2/15% Def 1200G - +1/10% Speed, -2 Def The Thwomp Graham sighed, still unable to find full comfort in Owen's reassurance. Looking up at Owen, tears filled his eyes. "I'm so scared, Owen... I want to be strong, I really do." he sniffed, wiping his eyes. "I need more time, I can't help anyone like this, not even myself." The giant looked down at Owen, his frigtening face still constrasted by his gentle gaze. "Me Thwomp. I one of city guard. Sometimes Thwomp helps train people, he see Graham not happy, so he spend few days helping train." he replied, bowing down onto one knee - still nearly eye level with Owen. "Prince Owen, Graham say many things about you. Thwomp glad Graham has friends like you. He don't talk to many people here, finds too scary." Live Rehersal Angus' mutterings hadn't gone unheard, a sudden tap on the shoulder alerted to someone's presence. "Angus?" Decima asked, having approached the Baron from behind. Quickly moving to his front, Decima appeared incredibly concerned. "Is everything OK? Nona should be inside, but Morta's not here. You didn't have another fight did you? I haven't seen either of you since this morning. She's never been so far from home, I hope she hasn't gone somewhere dangerous by herself. We can go check with Nona, maybe she's seen her?"
  17. As much as everyone would love me being their all powerful tyrannical overseer, actually having responsibility would mean I couldn't continue my SHINannigans. Besides, I think Powermaster would be a far better candidate, so much in fact, I'm surprised that he isn't on the moderation team already.
  18. A magic ring could pretty much put him at that benchmark too. Again, he'd probably miss a few more targets, but he's likely to be a higher level with Lex as his dad.
  19. Having more magic doesn't really help Corple out much. He's never going to fight, and he'll always have enough res to avoid status staves. Even with Lex, Corple's hitting 20 magic, so I'm hard pressed to think of much else he'd achieve.
  20. Faraway Lands Abdul looked over at Serge, not having paid too much attention before he'd interjected. "One could say as much, my good man. However, I am almost certain my own journey has been several time longer than your own." he replied, giving the mercenary his attention. "It took me three months to travel from my home country to here, it was no easy task, but I was able to survive. However, I had not expected such a strange culture... whilst I have learned much, remaining among these people is not something I would wish for. It was difficult enough to acquire your language." Octon laughed, patting Abdul on the back firmly. "They're not all bad, some folks might give you a hard time from being foreign but it don't matter to me!" he laughed, attempting to reassure his companion. "See what you manage, you can always try again next week if it doesn't go your way this time. You might have to though, I'm not letting anyone else get first place without a good fight." Betting Buddies "Not at all, Princess. I would have assumed that something like this would very much interest you. Thankfully you possess the sense to not enter yourself." Esclabor replied, both him and Nelon unsurprised by Cass' interest. "I've got a man of my own in the fights. He's not exactly very flashy, but I figure it was worth the investment... especially if we can bolster our funds just a little. I'm not sure if Serge stands much of a chance, but we'll have a good view from these seats." Nelon had remained quiet until addressed, almost lost in thought as his friend spoke. "Myself? I feel that Serge has potential, but his emotions cloud his judgement. It very much hinges on the quality of opponents he faces, but from what I see, he is almost guaranteed to lose to Baron Esclabor's fighter. It would require a great deal of composure for him to do so." Nelon added, looking back down at the arena. "There are also a few minor flaws in his technique, something that can be capitalised on if one is aware." Esclabor sat back in his seat, grinning smugly. "The guy's got guts, but he's got nothing on my Shaggy." he boasted, crossing his arms. "He might have been ex-army, I wasn't too sure, he doesn't really say much. Found him outside one of the bars in the rough part of the city, only wanted a quarter of the winnings too." Songs and Wrongs "I don't know personally... but I hear they all gather at the Golden Experience in the evenings to discuss their work." he replied, leaning in closer to try and focus on Sidney. He gazed curiously at her for a moment, before returning to an affable smile. "My eyes aren't so good nowadays, I swore I remembered you from somewhere... but that's my eyes playing tricks on me again. But yes, they meet there most evenings, sometimes people try to overhear some of their songs!" Another young man had overheard their conversation, leaning in to join it. Plainly dressed, he at least seemed to have appreciated Sidney's expensive clothing. "I wouldn't get your hopes up on joining them, even if you can sing or have money. They're a really stuck up group." he warned. "They're nothing like the bards, they're in it to tell the stories that they want people to hear." Past and Fate Graham looked down glumly, most likely still concerned about his father's wellbeing. "I know you're trying to help Owen... but I'm not brave and strong like you." he lamented, unable to take comfort in Owen's words. "These things really scare me, it's why I wear so much armour, it lets me hide away and not worry about getting hurt. Every battle I was in was terrifying, I relied so much on everyone else to keep me safe. I feel so powerless, Owen. I sometimes want to run away from it all, I can't be strong like you." The large man had stepped forward at last, towering over the two nobles. "Graham... people not born strong, they work for it." he added, putting his hand on his shoulder. "It hard to look back and remember hard things. That why you here, we help you get body strong, but mind too." Unpleasant Reunion Tartus looked at Claire, as if he were trying to remember her. Shaking his head in defeat, he listened to her request. "Well, Claire... it took Morganna a good few years to produce something that was even remotely serviceable, and that girl knew her bookwork inside out." he replied, tugging on his beard again. He stopped suddenly, his expression brightening as he made a sudden realisation. "There's someone I know who may be able to help you with the initial steps. She's an unusual woman, but her understanding of the theory of illusions is superb. In fact, she was able to assist me in some of my work. She's rather elderly, but in very good health. She should be sitting near the staircase, just ask for a woman called Constance." Constance is free to post!
  21. Corple suffers from his late join time and low level. A staves are nice but Lana and Leaf have pretty much got things covered. However, as superfluous as he is, he is the only staff unit with A staves before promotion, and it's not actually that difficult to train him. With Lex as his father, Corple can get to promotion in his join chapter simply by spamming Libro and he doesn't actually need very much to be happy - a return ring is all he needs for funds/being able to recruit Hannibal. He's never really going to be a fighter, but he at least has access to Prayer and Continue. A magic dad is nice but he'll function roughly the same with anyone. Lex and Claude generally work best. The former benefits both him and his sister since it allows them to get levels quickly. There's always the possibility of Holsety!Corple, but he's easily the worst user despite being the one whose combat improves most from it. 4/10 - He comes late and doesn't offer anything new, but he at least gives options when it comes to utility. He at least brings more to the table than the likes of Roddlebad and the HITMAN. Leen is basically her mother but better universally. She's not really doing much in her join chapter but dance utility means more in gen 2 than it did in 1. She's never going to really fight, but she really doesn't need to. She's also really flexible with her dad, but again Lex allows her to cheese the arena and gain enough levels for some reasonable durability. Prayer and Continue are nice, but if you're relying on them, you've done something seriously wrong. 8.5/10 - A real boon to have around, moving your mobile death squad and helping your other fools move ahead is nice. She's also really flexible with her dad, she's one of the few people who can say Ardan helps her. Sharlow is basically Corple with Elite and the Berserk Staff. He enrages me because he reminds me of Horace, but there's not much that he and Corple can achieve over each other. There's some silly little tricks you can pull with Berserk, but its hefty price tag limits its use. His main drawback over Corple is that he really struggles with money and getting staves, but again, you've got other people to use them. He's never going to fight ever, his magic's pretty good but he has no means of hitting more than once. He's also stuck with using all the lame tomes. 3/10 - Minus half a point because I know Horace likes him, but in reality he's not significantly different to Corple. Laylea again is very similar to Leen, but she has Charisma. In reality, Charisma does nothing to help usually because she really can't afford to be on the frontlines. However, she does let you obtain the Barrier Sword, which can sometimes put your losers' res just above sleep thresholds. Most of what's been said about Leen applies to her too, but the lack of inheritance and skill flexibility puts her just below her counterpart. 8/10 - Basically a slightly less equipped dancer, still pretty good though.
