  1. "Which makes her just about as useless as a Twilight Princess HD Remake" OMG I laughed so hard. XD
  2. One could avoid this by turning custom battle animations on, and setting dancer to off, IIRC? Priests and Clerics also cannot double. I remember in my age-old hack, making a staff that actually did damage. It worked fine...until the unit tried to double. Then the game was just like "UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH wait a sec." Had to give the staff 20 weight to prevent that from happening. Which is a terrible thing to do lol.
  3. Defeatist: When it looks like I'm going to lose no matter what, all stats are halved. I'm awful like that when it comes to video games.
  4. So, since my former playthrough was off topic far too boring, I decided to do something a little more interesting this time around. Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, A 5-Character Run. This challenge idea came to me waaaaaaaaaaay back when, and it's inspired by Ephraim's end-game statement: I will be doing Ephraim's route (as honestly, I have ALWAYS played Ephraim's route, and do not truly have as much knowledge about Eirika's route for this sort of thing. Besides, I like Ephraim's route more than Eirika's. I like Ephraim more than Eirika, period. In fact, I'm an Ephraim fangirl so SPHEAL WITH IT. THE CHOSEN HEROES Ephraim (Lances*) Franz -> Great Knight (Swords*, Spears, Axes) Ross -> Fighter -> Warrior (Axes*, Bows) Neimi -> Ranger (Bows*, swords) Artur -> Sage (Light*, Anima, Staves) * = S rank. I tried to make a lineup that covers as many of the ancient weapons as possible... Utility Characters Eirika (Forced unit for first 7 chapters) Vanessa (For rescuing in ch2, distracting the spider in chapter 6) Any character which recruits another character RULES! 1: Only the five chosen characters may participate in combat. 2: All other units must have their weapons stripped off of them to prevent accidental attacking 3: The prologue, ch1, and possibly chapter 5x are exempt to the above rules for obvious reasons. 4: Eirika may see battle for the first 7 chapters, but after that, must not be used. Not even in the final chapter, despite being forced in that one. 5: Utility characters may be used, but they are not allowed to actually attack. 6: Nobody may die. 7: The Tower of Valni may only be used to increase levels before promotion. So obviously, in the end this isn't going to TRULY be a five-character run, but whatever. Technicalities aside, the goal here is to win 90% of the game with only five characters and prove Ephraim wrong, only for him to say it anyway because the devs didn't think of everything. XD This will be recorded, but I won't be actually commenting in the video, as it takes far too long for me to do that sort of thing, and it's usually why I lose interest in LP's to begin with. SO, HERE WE GO! Chapter 1, where I ATTEMPT to follow the rules, but unfortunately had to break them due to issues:
  5. Some enemy wyvern guy who wound up looking younger than intended. Yay? Edit to the Big Bad. His massive nose was just too hideous. My first lake map: Okay, not really, but my first since my return to the community: Also, some other thing I did during my time away. I know it's not spriting, but I'm not opening a new topic in the general art forum for a single image, lol. A title screen that (I think?) will actually work on FEXNA. At least, it's the right size...
  6. Agreed about the hair shade. I can't tell if it would be easier or harder to sprite oldschool-style versus GBA style lol. Nice job.
  7. I like that idea the most, actually. I will definitely have to consider that one! I updated the first post with CHARACTER BIOS! :D :D And for those of you too lazy to go check it: [spoiler=Characters] (Any comments on sprites should be directed to my sprite topic, please. The link is in my sig.) Credits to bonestorm99 and shinycharmander for various sprites, and aeo for some fixes. Ryan the first Lord: A young, kind-hearted prince who desires to be a wise ruler and skilled warrior like his father, but because of his gentle nature and young body, he tends to fail at the latter. Having been the sheltered, doted prince of a happy marriage, he has yet to experience many of the evils which this world is filled with... He focuses more on speed with skill and res as the next highest stats. His defense is his weakest stat. Clarence the Lun. Lancer: A serious man from a country far, far away, who seems to be of a different species of human than Bewanians. His country has a military rule that partners every one of its members with another, and unfortunately for him, he was paired with Kedar. He has a slightly selfish, narrow-minded nature and often finds himself realizing that things are quite different than what he originally passed over. His strengths are HP, Str and Def, with lower speed and a severe weakness to magic. Kedar the Lun. Archer: A custom animation is being made by myself for this fellow. A playful, carefree man from a country far, far away. He tends to be rather mischievous at times, and prefers casual speech over honorifics. His country's military paired him with Clarence, whom just so happens to be the perfect personality type to get good reactions out of. Hides a compassionate side. His strengths are HP and Skill, with strength and speed being next in line. Like Clarence, he holds a major weakness to magic. Colan, the Cavalier: A somewhat mild-mannered man who can get very fiery when it comes to his nation, his general or his kingdom's royalty being disrespected. He works directly under General Millicent, and serves as her right-hand man and sub-commander. Brianna the Pegasus Knight: A pegasus knight working directly under General Millicent, who is known for her serious nature and occasional temper-flares. Has her eye on a certain male in her military troop, and looks up strongly to General Millicent. Molly the Knight: A young girl with a timid, bashful personality who tends to have a hard time with her sentences, often starting off one way, pausing, and beginning again another way. She tends to look up to General Mather, despite not being one of his underlings, and keeps to herself for the most part. Rolt the Nomad/Ranger: (Starts as Nomad, promotes to Ranger) because I hate the nomad trooper's sword animation (One day I may edit his ranger sprite to include the bandana, but I'm too lazy atm.) A serious man known for his sharp tongue and aloof personality. The only person he gets along with on a daily basis is General Fremont. He can usually be found pampering his horse during peacetime, or honing his archery skills. Neila the Cavalier: A somewhat aloof woman who rarely goes out of her way to speak to others, but if spoken to, she will hold a conversation. She holds a rather tragic past which fuels her desire to improve and become the best knight she can be. She can be found during peacetime quietly talking to her horse about things. Doran the Monk: Can I just say I hate the monk sprite for the robes sharing the same colors as the cape? A light magic-user from Solar Kingdom who tends to be a little...absent-minded, at times. He tries to be a good example of Solar Kingdom's military, but it's simply not in him to do so. Often gets scolded by his childhood friend. (Same as above with the Priest sprite) A noble who would rather be spending time in the royal library with the musty smell of old tomes and ancient scrolls than to be outside or actively communicating with others. Despite this, he has a meek personality and can be very talkative at times. He and Ryan have been friends for several years, and he sometimes serves as the boy's teacher. Kendra the Thief/Assassin A quiet woman with a mysterious origin and subdued personality. She serves the Lunar King with the sole purpose of desiring his praise. She is Evoidian, but will deny it to anyone who mentions her heritage. (She is of Evoidian descent, she says) She almost always keeps to herself, approaching royalty only when her job demands it, or when her master summons her. Millicent, the prepromote Falconknight A woman whose determination to enter the military and follow her father and grandfather's footsteps made her take of a male identity and become a recruit. Upon her knighting, she admitted her deceit, but King Eric kept her anyway. Now, she's known as being a level-headed woman who challenges any man who says women shouldn't be knights. She is the general of the white-armored portion of Triannos' army. Mather, the prepromote General A stern man who takes his job as general VERY seriously. And rightfully so, as he is the second-in-command of all Triannos' army. He's known for being wise, and despite his somewhat old age, he's still quite strong. His strict personality tends to lift when he is alone with King Eric. Fremont, the prepromote Paladin: Originally a mere commoner, Fremont's extreme tactical mind led his superiors to consider promoting him. Now he is one of the Three Generals of Triannos. He tends to be a very friendly, mild-mannered man when not on duty, but feels as if he has to be serious and stern when carrying out his duties as general. 29 characters may feel a little low for FE, but I honestly prefer the number to be lower in order to preserve the overall quality. (I have no idea how people manage 75 characters or whatever. O_o; ) [spoiler=SUPPORTS!] Because supports are one of my favorite parts of FE. No, seriously, they are. And ENDINGS? YES. BRING ON THE ENDINGS. However, because I am writing ALL these supports myself, I have been mostly limiting the supports each character has to four. Endings are typically maxed at two, although Ryan has more support options and three endings because FE GBA Lords always have a lot of friends. [spoiler=Affinity LIst] Some character names are still not actually set, and thus are named with names that having meaning to me and probably not to you. :D LIGHT: Ryan Tiffany Malena Molly ANIMA: Eric Bradley Millicent Neila FIRE: Clarence Tom Red01 Solar02 WIND: Kedar Brianna Fremont Doran DARK: Sethe Lupe Rolt Luther ICE: Clark Darren Melvin Reece THUNDER: Clinton Evoid01 Colan Mather ...You have no idea how proud I am of that affinity list. Perfectly evened out (except for Thunder having an extra person) and hardly anyone supports with another character of the same affinity. (Only exception to this is Ryan and Molly, both light.) In other news, I realized today that the story I had planned was far too straightforward and generic, so I have been greatly rethinking the plot... As a result, it looks as if the chapter count MIGHT increase. Which won't be a problem for players, I'm sure.
  8. So much reporting to the police in this thread. They must be sick of the phone calls by now. Also, English patches exist.
  9. I'm on something called fast track which means I'm apparently smart enough to let a computer course teach me? I dunno. At least I'm doing work between posts, And these people wonder why they get such bad grades.
  10. (Especially math, and especially when a computerized voice is trying to teach it to you.) WOOOOOOOOOOOW. Not sure what's worse--that or the dude voicechatting with his friend behind me LOL Totally. Defiant is the way to be, yesz. Fries are too mainstream. I desire ONION RINGS.
  11. On the school comp! When I should be working! And if you think that's a naughty thing to do, you should hear the guy behind me, VOICE CHATTING WITH HIS FRIENDS on the school computer, during school. :D
  12. Okay, so for my next attempt at Kedar's sprite, I simply...edited Lyn. Yay? For the visually impaired: I THINK I got rid of all the girliness? Also fixed Lyn's stupidly impossible vertical quiver for a diagonal one. This is the only frame I've done, but I want opinions on it before I continue.
  13. Well, I was under the impression that anything posted on this subforum is going to be a joke topic or otherwise something of nonsensical value. Otherwise, it'd be on another subforum. Appearance-wise, Leafeon for the win. NEVER! I didn't get the joke anyway
  14. Obviously this is a joke topic and was not meant to be taken seriously. XD I chose Sunkern because it is literally the WEAKEST Pokemon overall. (when you add its base stats together, they're the lowest of all Pokemon. Unless a new Pokemon was added that's even worse...) There's a Pokemon named Ghastly? NEVER KNEW THAT.
  15. Please, that would have been far too predictable.
  16. This. Also, we need them to release second gen and PS2 with the same functions. If they already have it made so that you can use wireless on the games, it shouldn't be too hard to do this. If they did, however, I would be scrambling for a Nintendo card so fast! I want to relive Pokemon Stadium 1 / 2 again...WITHOUT my transfer pak crashing 99% of the time. <_<
  17. Allow me to ask: Do you REALLY need the tactician?
  18. [spoiler=Sonic 06 spoilerz]Sonic's death in Sonic 06. I don't really like him as a character, but the main reason I like his death so much is that the creators did everything they could to make it dramatic... Unfortunately, there's a certain level of dramatics that can occur to a scene before the dramatic effect circles around and winds up in the hilarity section. (At least, for me there is.) Sonic's death passes that level and I find his death one of the most awful, hilarious deaths I've ever seen. I AM A TERRIBLE PERSON. I AM SORRY. Also, I liked Pichu in SSBM. Recoil effect and all.
  19. ^ I'm not sure what made me completely and totally forget that. I will try again at a later date--I actually have something in mind for how I will attempt this next time. FOR NOW, HOWEVER... I made a map! On one hand, I should have used the Ruins tileset for this. On the other hand, the ruins tileset didn't have all the pretty indoor pieces I wanted for the place where the legendary sword slumbers. Sadly, that means THIS tileset doesn't have everything I need for ruins. SHAME. Most of the cracks on the building are for appearance's sake only. The walls outside, however, can be destroyed for weapon experience or whatever. (If walls give that...?)
  20. It's a safety hazard. That's why. :P
  21. I need to be able to see this WHILE I'm spriting, lol. I've studied archery myself, and actually own a "toy" bow although I've never taken classes. I will have to find some gloves somewhere and play with it for a bit to see what's best. I'm beginning to think the true issue here is the sprite I was using for reference: [spoiler=sprite sheet] Not only is she at a different angle, but a lot of the issues you pointed out are also an issue with her--she's holding the bow straight out, and her quiver is clearly vertical while the arrow she's drawing is diagonal--that's not gonna work. Also, she pulls the arrow from the quiver AND brings it down in front of her with a single blur frame. The problem is that Kedar wears his quiver on his back. That's the whole reason I haven't edited the archer/sniper animations already. I'm going to do some intense studying of vanilla bow classes and see if I can't come up with a way to solve this issue.
  22. Yo-Kai Watch. It was so promising. It failed me miserably. My friends all complain about the combat system, but honestly my gripe isn't even about that. My gripe is the CONSTANT side-tracking, detours, errand-running and general inability to get anything done right away because obviously the player needs to be sent across town 5 times before they can progress the "Story." T_T I put it down and have not touched it since.
  23. Not sure how I changed the angle of the body... ...but now that I think about it, Lyn is facing a completely different direction for her bow animation. I should have taken this into account before I started. This would be easier if I could actually physically see somebody doing this, and therefore, would have an actual reference. -_- Dunno what you mean by #1 though. In my recent edit, which I haven't animated because ANIMATION WORKSHOP WILL NOT SAVE OMG, I do have his arm up a pixel higher, as well as his shoulder. Dunno which frame you're speaking of. Give me a frame number. ? As in closer to the chest...? ...I guess a turn would be needed at some point. ...Too bad I have no idea how to actually custom an animation. It's this thing here. And it's...not at the right angle, either. *sigh*
