  1. Haha, fair enough, I just whizzed through the gameplay once I realized they were tutorial Chapters and only spent time reading the story part.
  2. Out of curiosity, how many of those were like my first runthrough where I didn't know the game was gonna force me to marry him if I didn't get him a wife in time? It's mostly sarcasm - I mean, this IS me we're talking about - but there's some personal opinion in there too. When I look at Awakening's story, Lucina watches her world literally go to heck, refuses to accept that result, finds a way to go back in time to try to fix things, ends up fixing things(Ch.6), has to watch it all fall apart again(Ch.9), accidentally lets her emotions get the better of her while trying to fix things again thus blowing her cover(Ch.13 if memory serves), joins Chrom's group supposedly to help them deal with Walhart(though it was probably to keep an eye on Robin), ends up being forced to make a choice with no visible right answer(sack her father's best friend and possibly her mother/husband or watch the world burn) but is willing to sacrifice her own wishes for the sake of the greater good(especially true if you married Chrom or her), even going so far as to be prepared to duel her own mother/husband to the death should you refuse to just lie down and die, then she chooses to trust Chrom in spite of her misgivings when he says they'll find a way to overcome the future, has to watch the ordeal at the Dragon's Table without knowing Chrom and Robin planned ahead, thus assuming she'd failed once more, panics and loses her regained hope during the cutscene of her and Chrom running from the Dragon's Table after Grima pulls its literal Deus Ex Machina, still trusts Chrom and refuses to give up, and eventually sees the whole thing to its conclusion with the happy ending. From what I could see, Lucina was growing all throughout the second half of the game, while Chrom gets character growth in like Chapters 8 to 11 and the main extent of that growth is basically him figuring out there's more than one way to deal with a war while dealing with his sister's half-suicide remarkably well, though I suppose part of that is because he's a prince at war and can't afford to let his feelings overcome him until at least after Chapter 11 happens, so it's possible he spent much of the two year interval between 11 and 12 grieving about Emmeryn(only to find lol she lived cuz Paralogue 20). If you made the comparison of Lucina being overshadowed by Robin, then yes, I would wholeheartedly agree considering a random amnesiac tactician manages to avert world catastrophe and makes it look as easy as " " does, with Robin's only two failures nullified by Emmeryn turning the first failure into a meaningful plot device(what can I say, she had the high ground and she made full use of it, Gangrel never stood a chance) and the second failure being overturned by the power of Pikachu's Tears friendship. I'd say Lucina is by no means overshadowed by Chrom, rather that she is on par with him and if anything both of them were equally overshadowed by Robin. Essentially, if you ask me Lucina and Chrom do the dual Lord thing much better than Alm and Celica and also Ephraim and Eirika. This is, of course, my opinion, so I get it if you disagree. Wait, it takes people two hours to get to the Route Split?
  3. So you start the game with L'arachel as your Lord... Why does this not surprise me? XD
  4. It would depend on the person, of course - there are some people I know who would give it a shot if I just showed them Camilla's Cutscene in Birthright, while others might be interested were I to show them Radish Man(Lodestar Azama w/ Daikon).
  5. This is going to sound sarcastic, Ana, just a heads-up. Ah, yes, that did so much good for him. Let me pick him up off the floor of Arena Ferox and let him know he needs to stop crying about not being in Smash and being relatively obscure despite it being HIS game.
  6. I'm a touch curious as to why people always say Lyn got the shaft because she's a woman. Almost everyone I've asked about why Lyn didn't get the same character development as Eliwood and Hector just says "it's 'cuz she's a woman" and leaves it at that, with the occasional ridiculous remark about how misogynistic our world is(thanks for not adding something generic like that Ana - I do agree IS seems to take a somewhat odd stance on the matter). Do we have any sort of proof that was the actual reason, or are people just making assumptions based on the timeframe Fire Emblem is based off of(the modern perception of medieval England or thereabouts, when most women stayed home while their husbands went off to war or whatever it is people think that timeframe was about) and subsequent entries in the series(IE Eirika, Celica, etc)? Just something I've been pondering for a bit and thought I'd ask the community's thoughts on.
  7. Glad to have you along! If you feel so inclined, I'm sure people on here would love to see your drawings at some point - perhaps make a thread where you can post your art? There are quite a few people who have those linked in their signatures you can also check out if you ever run across them scouring the Forest.
  8. Just curious, do you know you can directly respond to someone's comment and depending on how their notifications are set up let them know you responded to them by clicking that little 'Quote' below each post? In this instance, Birthright did exactly what it was supposed to do for the duo - be the beginner-friendly one. The two were marketed as Birthright being aimed for newer players, with a basic goal for each map(hence why they're ALL Rout, obnoxious though some players find that), a more generic Fire Emblem Plot, easy-access grinding/farming, etc., and Conquest being aimed for series veterans, with more varied map objectives(supposedly; I felt a touch cheated there, with what, two, three Chapters with non-Rout objectives out of 19 Conquest-specific Chapters since the first 6 are vanilla?), a different Plot(not executed properly, but props for trying I guess), very limited grinding/farming(you get the three Invasions that happen over the course of the Story and that's it), etc., leaving Revelations to try to be the middle ground, which most people on here agree it failed to do horribly. See statement above. As for Beruka, I have a friend whose Charlotte commonly hits 100% Crit Chance. Not sure how he did it, but it was hilarious to see!
  9. I found her Corrin set interesting because I got the feeling that she suddenly realized somewhere in the A that oh yeah, I do have a decent person hidden under here…crap, I let it show, better hide it quick. The B and C, meanwhile, are…actually pretty par for the course compared to her Awakening Supports - a little harsher, perhaps, but these aren't people she's been through literal hell with like her Awakening Supports, so a little harsher may be in order. Her S, however, is frankly of embarrassingly bad quality as far as S Supports go, and falls far behind the Severa-Robin S, where she is attempting to actually improve herself - a part of her that honestly is completely missing from her as Selena. For the most part, I find myself somewhat agreeing with you, but for me there are exceptions - even after SoV, Heroes Palla is still the most Bae Palla(er, just looking at the basic artwork poses, not the battle or damaged ones), though for some reason her SD portrait is a very close second, Heroes Catria is her best look, and Est…eh, I could be convinced either way there, actually. I think the voices killed a couple of them for me, though - Minerva sounds a good five years older than I expected from her artwork bare minimum, and I expected Roy's English VA to be closer in pitch and tone to his Japanese one than what we got, though Ray Chase did do a very good job all things considered. Again, Palla is my best example of where I was pleasantly surprised by the VA, though it was a little awkward to have the first thing she said be "Oh! Oh, you startled me, you trickster, you." considering I was in a public place.
  10. The problem I had with Selena is that we don't have Cordelia in the game to show where I think most of her personality came from - her issues with losing her mother and not wanting to get close to anyone so she couldn't be hurt again, with this spilling over into her other Supports with Awakening Gen 2. Because of this, we mostly just have Selena being a (Self-Censored) for the heck of it without any real explanation - the closest thing I've seen to showing anything about her past to anyone who hasn't played Awakening is her A-Support with Caeldori, which implies she has an inferiority complex stemming from her family(though I don't know why she would marry a perfectionist like Subaki and then complain about everyone around her being perfect, I just pair them to watch her cry) and not much else. Even then, this is locked behind an extra $20 paywall thanks to Revelations not being available in physical copy bar that Special Edition that was available for like three days after it came out 2+ years ago. It's possible I'm missing something in her Supports that goes into better detail, but I didn't see anything that said that kind of thing to me, and I've almost finished seeing all her Supports.
  11. Huh, that's weird. I knew people who liked them got looked at funny - heck, I started automatically clarifying whenever I said Sakura was my favorite to say it was as a little sister, not a waifu - but I didn't realize there was open dislike for them, at least not to the level I often hear about Camilla.
  12. Ana, you said you're done. Just back out and let it go. And no, I'm not trying to argue with you here - we both know you don't want to argue on this, you came to just state your opinion and leave, nobody worth worrying about will think any worse of you if you walk away when they're trying to fight you. I'm in Ana's boat as well; all replies to my comments will be ignored. Possible exception being how dumb I regard the answer I receive for my below comment to be. Never to the first question, always to the second, because the possibility that I may have a gun and may be willing to risk legal backlash by using it is usually enough to deter potential intruders to my home. Also @eclipse will you please do us the favor of moving this to Serious Discussion?
  13. A coworker of mine once just lost it at work and shouted at another coworker "YOU SOGGY SARDONIC ANCHOVIC LAMPSHADE OF DEATH!" …to this day I have been unable to discern exactly what he meant by that. Make of it what you will, but his tone of voice suggested it was not an insult to be used lightly. Also great Avatar choice! YES I'M USING THIS ON SOMEONE BEFORE THE MONTH ENDS
  14. I feel like Warriors kind of killed that a bit, though. Admittedly, if you ask me Warriors kind of meme-d out a bunch of the characters, like Camilla, who was already on shaky ground as it was…not to mention I'm still pissed off that Celica is in the game in the first place. EDIT! Hey, just realized that can be my on-Topic comment for the year! Um…watch out for some acid, though, I'm a touch bitter about this particular subject... (maybe)Unpopular Opinion: Celica should never have been even considered for Warriors, brings nothing to the game unless you really like Celica(especially considering she's just a Marth clone and doesn't even have a unique moveset), and frankly hurts at least half of the characters she Supports with, especially her Marth Support, which brought my opinion of both of them down quite a bit for their inability to recognize such an obvious fact as their coming from the same world but different times. "But SoulWeaver, she just wants to stop the fighting, you warmongerer!" We already have Corrin filling the pacifist role, thanks, and while having FE protags be pacifists isn't a major problem, this is a WARRIORS game I'm talking about. "But SoulWeaver, she represents the newest game they want to push!" And Alm would have done the same while actually fitting the game's style of kill hundreds of nameless grunts in the name of Pikachu's Tears…I mean, friendship and the power of bonds. Actually, even with a clone moveset Alm would have been more unique than Celica too, just because he's left-handed and so everything would have to be mirrored. Heck, Tobin or Gray would have fit better too. Or the Whitewings, who also hail from Shadow Dragon and would thus have fulfilled a dual purpose of representing SoV and beefing up the cast numbers for SD. Or, to be honest, I think Valter or Narcian belongs in this game more than Celica. FREAKING NARCIAN. WHO IS DEFINITELY NOT ABOUT THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP AT ALL. AND STILL WOULD BE BETTER FOR THIS GAME THAN CELICA if only to give us more Axes IS why. "But SoulWeaver, we need more women in these games, you misogynistic (self-censored)!" First off, you watch your phraseology young lady. Second, so switch her with a woman who doesn't feel so ridiculously out-of-place in this game, like, give us Severa/Selena, who, while more into shopping than chopping, still fits better, though admittedly Awakening has enough playables already(yet still no Owain yet…be patient, SW, it's just a wait until March, just…keep it together). Heck, if you're going to push SoV anyways, give us Sonya, or Delthea, or Clair, or Mae, or heck, Yuzu, Emma, and Shade are all just sitting there and ALSO count as Fates characters technically, so you can continue the unceasing pushing of Fates while you're at it. My apologies for the rant in the midst of all this talk about how Female Lords need more representation. Heck, I like Celica, I've got nothing against her in SoV(except that there's no way for her to recruit both Deen and Sonya, but that's not her fault), but her choice for Warriors has been bugging me for a while now and I needed to get it off my chest. Feel free to ignore it.
  15. I actually have no idea if it works, I'm stockpiling these codes because I'm setting aside money to order a JP 3DS and copy of Fates so I can play the…should I say 'uncensored and uncut' version? That makes it sound a lot worse than it was, but it's essentially what I'm doing, and free Themes are always a plus! If someone else decides they want it and has a JP 3DS, they're welcome to take priority over me as it's no real skin off my back.
  16. Ghast's Support Science video on Peri explains that that's her fault, not his(you should look it up, he makes an excellent argument for why she never should have existed). Support Xander isn't just randomly acting in complete opposition to himself, it's because some idiot created Peri(probably trying to create a second Henry without actually understanding that there was more to Henry than that), who really should have been executed by the Nohrian government long ago, and the idiots higher up the chain decided what the hey, let's put her as Xander's retainer, which forced the writers to create an S-Support between two characters who honestly never should have met because, as I just said, she should have bit the dust long ago, and of the two Xander was the one who ended up worse off for it. Also, thank you for letting me know I am not the only person who dislikes Forrest. I was starting to wonder what the heck was wrong with the world.
  17. Doesn't that just explain the benefit Armors have over Horses - being able to just sit there and tank?
  18. I usually put up with Pega-Sumia - who is WAY too fragile to be fighting in this war, by the way - until I can swap her to Great Knight, at which point she obliterates, but that may be a bit too lategame to apply here. I use Cordelia because I like her, but a little over half the time I swap her over to Merc the second she can use that Second Seal both for your mentioned reason and because I find Pegs to be a touch squishy and Merc fixes the issue for the most part. The Weapon Triangle doesn't feel as big of a deal in Awakening compared to other games to me, though. WHAAAAA?!?! HOLY SNAP I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON I DIDN'T LIKE HIS HAIR! I've been trying to figure out why his hair bugged me for forever, thank you for bringing words to my feelings! Completely unrelated to anything on this thread, I believe I just realized who your current Avatar is. As a certain albino genius once said: "Brother, omega props."
  19. Ah, my bad for not mentioning enough people, I only got a little ways into TWEWY because the controls were too frustrating to pick up at the time, and have played through most of KHDDD and so figured those five were the main ones they'd focus on. Hm…I think Lissa might be convinced to carry a teddy bear, but I get the feeling there…hey, what about Nah? I mean, she's a touch young, but teddy bear?
  20. EEEEEYYYYY, been forever, Kirokan, glad to see you're still alive, and working on another fabulous set of translations to boot! Truly, a kind favor for us all. Anyways, looking forward to seeing these, and thanks again for the translations!
  21. Why stop there? Make an entire TWEWFE Tempest Trial while we're at it, with Tiki as the Free Unit representing Neku and four other Units representing Shiki, Beat, Rhyme and Joshua as the Banner!
  22. …you do realize those were obviously designed for people with three arms, right?
  23. You sure? I could have sworn it worked the other way around. Eh, fine, A Rank Arthur then.
  24. For some reason I only saw the headphones and thought it was a TWEWY Tiki. Someone make a TWEWFE Banner happen.
