Nice. I like the variety, although I can't imagine how useful a swan would be in combat. Then again, I've seen plenty of angrery geese, so maybe they would be effective in some way.

They sound vaguely similar to Heron Laguz.  But I'm not really sure how all these different races will fit into a Three Houses-like system.

Oh man, i remember i did the same thing. Except i ranked every Fire Emblem girl.

I don't think I can trust this list....It just screams sacrilege to me

To be fair, quite a few girls end up in Rank E solely for being or appearing 15 or younger.  Girls who can be the Avatar's children (i.e. your children) can never have a Waifu Rank above D, no matter how much I like them.

  3. Not sure if I ever showed it here, but this is my Fire Emblem waifu tier list.

Not pictured: Naga (Rank C), Yune (Rank E), Altina (Rank D), Grima (Rank D), Peony (Rank C)

These ranks were calculated from a baseline Waifu Rank of C based on quantifiable criteria such as whether a character is 18 or older, what kind of weapon she wields, etc.

Here is the calculator I made to help me make it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aSQf0Q418FNnbmgQiHHk3X_spdmdOFGVVCoVL6zvsJE/edit?usp=sharing

How'd you get your Fire Emblem Ascension project get popular

    @PeonyofLeosa Dreamworld

It hasn't.  At least, not like any of the big-name hacks like Bloodlines or Staff of Ages.  While it is probably one of the better-known English-language SRPG Studio games out there, it and SRPG Studio games in general are still mostly ignored by the Fire Emblem fangaming community as a whole, with its continued fixation on GBA hacks.  However, I'll still try to give a bit of advice.

One problem you have right now is that you simply don't have a lot for people to go off at the moment.  Just some descriptions of a few characters and that's it.  I assume you're eventually going to write more of a proper story later, so I'd work on that first and foremost.

Another thing I should mention is that our circumstances are a little different.  As I was trying to present my story with a level of detail befitting a hypothetical game (including map designs and even unit stats), it may have been better off in Concepts where people are more likely to care about such things.  Later, when I decided to turn my project into a real game, I attempted to take advantage of significant events like SF Interviews and FEE3 and use them for self-promotion, i.e. of new releases.  You, on the other hand, don't seem to have the means nor the intention to turn Song of Oblivion into a proper game, as no major fangame engine has developed sufficiently to replicate a Three Houses-like experience like the kind you're going for.  I don't even think there are any FEE3-like events to promote purely written material with.

So...  If I'm going to be honest, you may be out of luck in terms of getting your project popular.  Written works just don't attract the kind of attention that fangames do in a video game fandom.  Sorry.  My best suggestion right now is to just keep working on what you have.  Maybe if you have a large enough amount of material, somebody will take notice.

  5. Welcome!

FEBuilder is actually considered one of the more accessible hacking methods.  If even that's proving too much, and if you have the money to spare, then maybe SRPG Studio might be a good alternative?  Alternatively, if you want to stick to FEBuilder, the guys at FEUniverse might be able to answer whatever questions you have about it more easily.  They're much more focused on hacking than this place.

I just mentioned this to Ghast and I believe he will address the issue as he agreed that it was a good point, but it seems that the Resource Directory topic does not mention FEbuilder, which is why we occasionally see people still asking questions about FEditor on Serenes. I recommended that the links be removed and replaced with FEbuilder ones, among other things. I leave it to the mods to decide what is best for the forum based on the message I sent, but I hope it will lead to less people asking questions about FEditor.

Huh.  Didn't realize this was such a problem.  Maybe that explains why I hadn't heard of FEBuilder until well after I decided to adopt SRPG Studio as my fangame making tool of choice.

  7. The last non-FE game I played was Command & Conquer: Red Alert.

This would mean Westwood Studios would be in charge of the next FE game, but they went out of business.  So I guess that role would default to EA.

    F***.

EDIT: Wait, does Petroglyph Games count as Westwood nowadays?  They were formed by ex-Westwood employees.

  8. The main Three Houses characters I see getting in are both Byleths, Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, Hubert, Dedue, and Hilda.  The MCs are a given, and Hubert and Dedue have important roles as primary retainers to their respective Lords.  Hilda is less connected to Claude, but she might as well be treated as his retainer just because of how much less accessible she is.

And those should honestly be enough.  I'd prefer Warriors 2 to take the opportunities they missed in the first game to feature popular characters from outside Archanea and Hoshido-Nohr.  My opinions of Three Houses after playing it are poor and I would rather Warriors 2 not be Three Houses Warriors.

This is much easier said than done. Many, many people have tried to create FE1(1) remakes in GBAFE. Projects such as Exalted Legacy and GFE1R both had attempted to create ports with their own vision on how FE1 should be rendered in GBA Fire Emblem. However, they have all failed. Creating a polished hack takes time and effort, and the projects ended up burning out and never being released. The only GBA version of FE1 that is playable to completion is a Chinese NESFE compilation that is borderline unplayable due to severe stat inflation. Recreating all the maps and programming all the events takes time. High quality graphics take even longer to draw. Remakes are deceptively difficult to do well. You can throw together a mess covering the first few chapters, but doing the original game justice on the Game Boy Advance is a difficult task. Things like reclassing are not natively part of GBAFE and would need to be coded in, typically in assembly.

In short: no, there is not.

And that's why SRPG Studio is a better platform for remaking FE1(1) than GBAFE hacking

Seriously, though, I'm not really sure of anything substantial you'd gain from playing (if I understand correctly) a faithful recreation of Shadow Dragon, but as a GBA game.  Better graphics?  Those are subjective and shouldn't matter for a game like Fire Emblem.

Hey man I would have, I'm just waiting for the game to be finished.

I find weapon ranks to be a bit of a chore, but I also haven't played FE1/FE3 and can't speak to the superiority of that system. If weapon level is working out though, I think it's fine to stick with it.

Basically in FE1 and 3 weapon proficiency is measured in a WLv stat that can grow like HP, Str, Skl, etc.  Essentially whether or not you can wield high-level weapons can turn into a matter of luck of the RNG.  But if you wield multiple weapon types, all of those weapon types share the same WLv, meaning for example if you gain Staves on promotion, instead of having to train up a separate Staff rank, you could in theory use any Staff as soon as you promote if your WLv is capped.

I think WLv has its perks (like that it can be increased with Bonus EXP Level Ups whereas WLv can't, and you don't have to grind proficiency for weapon types gained on promotion), but a lot of players seem to hate WLv for being less organic or reliable than traditional Weapon Ranks.

  11. ...You know what? I think I'm gonna just go ahead and switch over to Weapon Ranks for v3.1. Nobody on Serenes Forest or FEUniverse ever gave feedback on two different revisions of the same major release, so I don't think people are going to care that badly if they're playing v3.0 already and are probably going to wait until v4.0 (the full, but not final release) to play the game again.
