  1. Mhm, IS played 3D chess when they made Rev playable only once per buy. Only one save file too.
  2. According to some FE archetype quiz, I am a DRAGON RIDER GIFTED WITH COMMON SENSE (aka the Minerva) I´m neither princess, nor girlboss, whatever that is and considering my countries history...... I´d probably not join the hero but be the villain instead. But sure, dragons are fun, so let´s go with that.
  3. ? Fates base gameplay features, access to all Fates units, both nations classes and items, the potential of United Nations Planned Eugenics, at least one easy grind map, maps just as bad as prior FE´s but none as hard as CQ´s... what´s not to like?
  4. Another thing, niche as it may be: Mercedes can serve as bait, maybe with Nosferatu and on the next turn heal another unit and with LtS herself too - essentially alleviating her own risk of death, while also helping out someone else. Probably not going to happen often, with physical enemies at least.
  5. For CQ at least, I don´t think you can block? They just spawn adjacent, I think. In TH the chapter 5 Thiefs and AM´s chapter 22 initial magic reinforcements cannot be blocked - for AM 22 im 100% sure, Thiefs I might missremember. I could swear all reinforcements can be blocked in SD, since they spawn from forts and the like, except maybe in Minervas join chapter and in the final map?
  6. To bring some Rev into the discussion: Subaki could probably make a decent AK and WF would covers his SPD issue, essentially turning him into discount Benny. WF Orochi for obvious reasons. And any child mothered by Orochi. That´s all very cool but it ignores the simple fact that your early promotion brings with it constant opportunity costs throughout the rest of the game and that can and will snowball; when lategame is harder than earlygame, and for CQ I´d mark it down as significantly harder than earlygame, then early promotion can absolutely be bad [depending on the unit and class TM - see Elise]. To top it all off, WF is a skill. Skills can be unequipped when not needed. With your theorizing here you are constantly purchasing Tonics, cooking meals which are RNG dependant and limited not only in outcome but also requirements. There´s only so many units who can have so many Rallies, Rallies like SPD requiring most likely either classchange or capturing. What does reclassing and capturing do? It uses ressources, ressources that either cost money, are again rng dependant or use time, potentially negating the supposed benefit when you wanted/needed it. Using kids requires using their parents and that influences who gets deployed where and that changes the way a map may be approached, all the more in CQs earyl game with it´s limited deployment slots. The same goes for pairing up units. Additionally, the only tools you gain throughout the campaign are more skills - dancing, meals, shelter dances are available early on. And all of that to make the easy part of the game easier.
  7. I suppose one difficulty would be the question of how much math you want in a skill description? If we take WF, block all doubling and then say turn speed into extra stats like HIT/Crit/AVO/DODGE then how´d you put that in the skills description to make sense? Perhaps turning the % thresholds from skill based to DEF based for defensive procc skills? Then again, that doesn´t go too well with Fates AI. At the same time, if WF turns speed into another stat or stats but it mainly benefits slow units, that´d just make it weird. Alternatively, a Wary Fighter might just attack once and only be attacked once, but will also always attack first - in the context of fates there´d be some fun stuff to do.
  8. Yeah, but the common sentiment strewn across "Rate the unit" threads across the internet has her marked down for problems with speed and not "if you waste resources unnecessarily on chapter 13 you can double the slowest enemies in the game in that chapter, only with no real benefit since they are also the tankiest varaint of enemies in the game and you will take significant counterdamage since you are vulnerable to the chapters Beastkillers." Not good enough in CQ. Lategame enemies are higher quality than the rest of the franchise and debuffing via non combat exists. Appropriate PU does that but enables 1HKOs and better AS on her - superior to 1RKOs in every way, since you can´t be debuffed by Daggers/Shurikens that way. Without using ressources for neither reason nor gain. You do, if you´re melee or tank. Inb4 Maid Effie.
  9. What does CQ13 not have a lot of? Hoshidan enemies. What else does it have? Some of the slowest enemy classes in the game. What did I forget to mention? The faster enemies (Samurai, Ninja, Pegasus) tend to be physically frail, thus enabling Effie to 1HKO. Having promoted units at chapter 13 strikes me as unnessecary and wasteful.
  10. cellar What´s joke-shaped and where do I get it? Do you hug bears?
  11. Yeah, maybe in the lategame but not in the earlygame - maybe not before Kitsune chapter. She already has a lot of offense, Generals STR cap allows her PS to activate easier and General has more STR than Sniper can compensate with Bowfaire - Effie is a unit that can effectively EP in CQ with little to medium-ish threat of immediate death, which isn´t something many other units can do - Sniper/Kinshi compromises that in favor of better PP, but PP is 1 kill/turn lest we dance/PU shenanigans and good PP is easier to come by in CQ than EP. Great Knight and maybe General might be a candidate for an Arms Scroll, i suppose, for WT control and effective damage - Bow good, but not Beast Killer/Hammer, Dual Club access kinda good. 5 base SPD tho Hoshidans are fast as fuck ´cept Orochi I am no fan of Benny - overwhelming Defense only leads through BeNeLux.
  12. who dat Flora. From Maid to General to Hero. It´d be funny. Not good but... y´know. Funny. Maybe. otherwise Subaki, but anti-hoshidan sentiment
  13. I am glad that TH has gutted the value of physical 1-2 range weapons. Archers being (1-)2- 3 range or more and mages being low move jokes that are easily collapsed on, the games might finally be ready to move beyond myriads of shoddy 1-2 range javelin/handaxe throwers in order to feign "difficulty."
  14. German Shepards don´t go for a walk, they MARCH. Dachshunde don´t shit, they lay mines.
  15. There is a Bolt Axe dropped in chapter 14 of BR, by one of the reinforcing Berserkers I think.
  16. Y´know what they say about German Sheperds and Dachshund, no?
  17. I play mostly blind. She coulda flown behind Titanias large shoulders and be safe on the 1tile bridge but the AI decided to heal in the middle of the enemies. *shrug* The Jill has been secured and thank fuck for that, because the game relies so much on you having a flier to make the maps bearable. Cringe-ass swamp tiles my foot.
  18. The very first boss of the game, who can´t be skipped and you meet him in like 5-15 minutes depending on whether or not you explore the first zone if you can even call it that. Mhm, the N:A fan standard response: it either gets good later or you´re stoopid.
  19. Nvm, this woman levels stupid. She´s 1/20 Paladin and the only stats Titania has over her is 8HP, 3SPD and 1 DEF with 12 lvls difference. goddamn She stayed safe all on her own. Unlike Marcia. *cough*
  20. There is an easy mode and it´s called using the items the game gives you. Do people think they put that stuff in the game by coincidence? There´s only so much being a hoarder excuses. Sir, respectfully, but Nier:A has great gameplay? Perchance a victim of Iudex Gundyr?
  21. Astrid acquired and stowed away for safekeeping.
  22. The attentive reader will note, that the topic has been yote into the PoR/RD general section, as I am playing both games at the same time. I have however, after cruising to chapter 14 in PoR and 3-2 in RD only 1 question: does the AI ever get better? There´s been too many cases of the AI blocking itself from attacks by moving a 1 range enemy into a space a 2 range could have attacked from and random-ass vulnerary trading when attacks could have taken one of my guys out. It´s like SoV but worse. I have apparently managed to miss a Seraph Robe by having Rolf speak to a House? Where´s the option to loot villages when you need it?
  23. The Bolt Axe Berserker in Birthright. Take everything a Berserker should be good at, receives bonuses for and shit all over it. It is a Bolt Axe but still. Every Healer without means of attack.
  24. The Settler 5 HoK is the best entry of the bunch, followed by 6. 2, 3 and 4 are just lemming simulators, with AI advantages that make CIV 6 Deity look tame. Voice Acting is worthless - sitting around for a character to blabber about their backstory for any amount of time is a waste of time. Being sung at while doing basic exploration is disrupting - music should, if it has to exist at all, be moderate and quiet. Same thing when entering a boss room and I´m suddenly getting jackhammered by a Rammstein concert. Just no.
