  1. Yeah, I expect this idea has long been on the table and discussed before they started a new game, probably as far back as binding blade, but always dismissed for one reason or another.
  2. I see myself being on the receiving end on a lot more spikes in the future. Ganoncide's certainty made him so dangerous to approach when returning back to the stage. Took real guts for a player to even go for it.
  3. One of the biggest hopes I had was that every character would get unique customisation skills. Many characters have displayed wildly new abilities in games since their debut that are completely lacking representation in their moveset (Ganondorf being the prime example, but basically every character from Peach to Marth are missing something significant). Plus it would just be really awesome for the sake of variety. But I guess not getting that is a small price to pay for No Cuts. Long live PokeFloats! When you play as Ridley on that stage, Alfonzo replaces him as the boss XD
  4. So I'm not sure how widely known this is as I had to sleep not long after the trailer last night, but the whole squad based battle idea is something they've considered before. https://serenesforest.net/2016/06/20/making-of-fire-emblem-genealogy-of-changes/#more-32331 It's not the first time we've seen some old design ideas return for a new game. It seems IS are always considering every idea they've ever had. Maybe some day we'll get that bizarre Fire Emblem on Mars concept.
  5. Haha. How concidental. I first read that article yesterday and learn they wanted to out some kind of squad mechanic into Genealogy, and then look what happens today.
  6. Not the work of a genius, but I basically predicted Ridley's exact special moveset almost eight years ago.
  7. I think they could have afforded to make Ridley bigger. Ridley's too small XD
  8. So this is basically Super Smash Bros; Fan Service. ENGAGE RIDLEY MOTHERFUCKERS!
  9. Couldn't sleep the other night, so I decided to make a patch for this game. Inspired by comments made on this thread. Basically, Lyn now uses bows from the outset and Eliwood uses lances. It's nothing too exotic or anything, in fact, maybe someone has done it before, but eh, thought I'd share. The other big edition is that Darin has been given a Heaven's Seal that you can steal, allowing promotion of one of the lords much earlier. The idea is to make Eliwood and Lyn more interesting to play and hopefully more comparable to Hector in terms of usefulness. The biggest issue is that without Eliwood or Lyn, you're actually wanting for some good sword users (although I also managed to miss Raven as a bandit wrecked Percilla's village, losing me three characters in one go. *sigh* Iron Man runs). The game actually gives you a lot of really good swords during the first half. Although having 1-2 range on Eliwood makes a massive difference (not too sure how Lyn's been effected though, she absolutely rocks for me, but I think I got particularly RNG blessed with her). Full list of changes. Download Link Anyway it's out there, if anyone wants to try it.
  10. I'd be cool if Alphonse and Shareena became the default "noncanon" characters to go to for every experimental game. Instead of dozens of new OCs each game, just stick to a single pair. But well, given that Rowan and Lianna now exist, things will probably not go down that route. At the very least if Warriors does get a sequel, Rowan and Lianna will make more sense as they'll be established already (cut to two years from now where they've been removed, or worse, replaced with another pair of identical sword wielding OCs)
  11. Yeah, exactly. That's why I was arguing that of all the characters in the series, he'd make the most sense to be the protagonist of a game like this.
  12. That really depends on the skirt. Wow, that's a really good break down of things. A comment far more serious than I ever expected to get on this thread. To answer the question though, I'd say nobody cares about pantsless Link is because it actually suits Link a lot more. People see pantsless Marth and it's not actually about the lack of pants, it's the overall ridiculous look with the outdated art style, massive hair and strange expression. It comes from the same place as bad box art Megaman. That and Marth takes pantslessness to a bit more extreme levels than Link ever has. What he's packing must be pretty small to not poke out even a little bit. Glorious.
  13. That doesn't necessarily have to be the case. An item that restores MP would of course be welcome, but auto restoring measures like the rings in Gaiden would probably do a good job to make it available and adequately limited. Imagine if all the auto HP healing items instead healed MP, while all the other HP restoring methods still restored HP. Recovering 5mp at the start of every turn would give units the ability to use magic and skills freely, but over use of things like Ragnarok or Anew would quickly deplete things to zero. There could also be skills and weapons that steal MP from enemies in the same vein as Nosferateau and Plentitude.
  14. Thinking on this (because I have a mild bout of insomnia), given how Rowan and Lianna were so completely convinced Dario's was good deep down and were even willing to throw down their weapons when he threatened to kill their mother (directly after he revealed he planned to kill her regardless to accomplish his goals), there's little doubt in my mind that both of them would have fallen hook, line and sinker to the calibur of deception that Lyon pulled off.
  15. Are Marth's thighs sexy? I suppose men can answer too.
  16. Essentially he can only be attacked by one enemy each turn. Broken? Perhaps, but I think his HP and Defense totals are low enough that it wouldn't take much more than a single enemy to take him down in a lot of cases.
  17. Well yeah, Mages under the classic system are obviously going to be the norm. But I'm just shit shooting here. I personally would like them to try something like the Gaiden approach again.
  18. Why was he even in the game then? As opposed to Ike or Eliwood?
  19. So Gaiden had HP draining spells, and Shadows of Valentia expanded it with HP draining skills. It's all pretty cool and stuff, but I find that it has the down side of being pretty negligible at a certain point. HP recovery items and equipment are so wide spread, which is good, you need a way to recover your ability to use these things mid battle, but then you also get things like fortify and tile recovery and stuff and at some point only the truly absurd HP costs actually matter. At least, that's in my experience, I barely ever have to worry about the HP costs. But if recovering HP was more limited, then using spells would be outright unfeasible and also useless. So then the question arises, what about an MP system like almost every other game out there? MP being separate to HP would mean recovering HP doesn't outright nullify the system, Auto HP recovery could be a more useful and limited skill, in a way making HP more valuable by making it less useful. At least, that's the way I'm thinking. What do you think? Would this fix some of the problems with Gaiden's system? Do you even think it has problems? Or do you think the HP cost is a bit more unique and an MP system would make the series a little too samey to the rest of gaming.
  20. He's pretty popular with the Japanese fan base. Mystery of the Emblem was out and out the best selling game by a long mile until 3DS changed everything. Either him or Anna. Only Fire Emblem character to actually be part of the plot in Heroes (for a given definition of plot). Well...this one. Marth is in the game. He's plastered up there on the box, center stage. Him and his allies are in the game, an honor not given to any other character featured in a pre2013 game. Not even most-popular-guy ever-Ike is in the game (although Lyn managed to make it in some how). Whether it be popularity or OG respect, Marth has been highlighted in this very game and among all the main lords in the series, he alone would be acceptable to lead the game without being considered unfair or strange (although someone suggested some kind of Tempest Trials thing with Lucina earlier, she's popular enough and not close enough to the main protagonist spot in Awakening that she might just be able to pull something like that off. By that I mean if they focus on some kind of world hopping plot then they could make a "Lucina game" without it being seen as an "Awakening game".)
  21. Jedah moveset. Initially just wanted to do something with an Armoured Mage as I was speculating in the Who deserves to be in the game thread, but I came up with a pretty interesting unit by porting his exclusive skills over from Shadows of Valentia. Jedah: Duma's Will (Blue Tome, Armoured)
  22. Huh, that's an article I've never seen before. Thanks for sharing. With those kind of names in consideration, it's even more baffling that Kaga thought he could get away with "Emblem Saga." Which I suppose he kind of did in the end, some how.
