  1. for me it was my second anime. =P ...haruhi suzumiya was the first. Haruhi was my second... :3
  2. Except he fucking well doesn't, since if he stopped to actually look shit up or back himself up for a moment he would see that not only does less God not equal more crime, but the fact that if you examine church attendance rates anywhere (these where the quickest I could find), and then examine crime statistics, you will see that the most religious states like Louisiana, or Mississipi, have more than double the crime rate of the lowest church attending states, Vermont, and New Hampshire. So, I actually have EVIDENCE here. But I'm not a retard, so I won't immediately jump to a retarded conclusion like Beck would have 8 thousand times by now, and say something like "Church attendance causes crime", because I doubt it does. But atheism sure as fuck doesn't, and if you agree with Beck on this, you are a moron. My point is, this is a man who will go on air and say something completely fucking absurd and wacky, that no rational human being would even consider, and this is ignoring the fact that any and all evidence of this flies straight in his face. Washington DC is on the low end, and it has one of the highest crime rates in the country. :/ And again, I'd like to point out that we're missing context. The entire thing coulda been a bunch of bullshit that he was putting out to set up for a counter argument, which he does. A lot. Remember that fake frog he threw into the boiling water the other day? he did something similar building up to that, too, and then denounced it in the end. ... This is not a counter argument. No, no it isn't. You didn't really make an argument anyway. But alright, I'll dance. The numbers on the whole do not support Beck, and even if states with lower church attendance DID have more crime, it would take more than that to imply causation. Again, it is absurd to assume that being an atheist has anything to do with you being an immoral person, or a person who commits crimes. And if Glenn Beck is just building this shit up? Well, maybe he is, but somehow I doubt it. Partly because he bitches about lack of religion and killing God way too much. Well, yeah, understandably. When Public schools start banning Students from having in-school prayer groups and stuff, that DOES stomp on our freedom of religion. I'm not saying make all public schools catholic schools or anyhting of the sort, I'm just saying that it's getting to the point where the Government is actually becoming involved with religion when it's not supposed to, even if it's intended to avoid such a problem. Except that wasn't what they where doing. There was absolutely no move to ban people from practicing their religion. Except prayer in public schools has been banned in various ways. *sigh* No, there's a fucking difference. You are allowed to pray in school. People in positions of authority such as teachers and the like are not allowed to ENCOURAGE prayer, and for good reason. It would be like letting teachers tell kids how to vote in a way. There is no law, anywhere, that prevents children from praying in school, there IS a law that prevents STATE FUNDED prayer groups, because your country has seperation of church and state. These rules do not apply to children. Take a closer look. That same law actually bans faculty from praying in school. Take a closer look at what I wrote. I said that the faculty in public schools, that is, employees of the government, should not openly pray, or instruct students to pray in these situations, since there IS a separation of Church and State in your nation. Basically, faculty are banned from leading or instructing children in any sort of religious sense. EDIT: couldn't resist, hey Nishi, remember that huge uproar when Obama was going to go tell kids to stay in school? :3
  3. So, uh, in Canada, at the national level, we have a House of Commons, and a Senate. Our House of Commons is regionally representative, with approximately 1 Member per 100,000 Canadians. Our Senate is appointed as opposed to elected, and basically has a very wacky layout. Our Senate cannot create bills or anything, they simply have de juri power to vote on them after the House of Commons has passed them. It's pretty much just ceremonial, because they mostly know that they cannot go against the will of the people, but they technically have the power. Ours works pretty well. On the other hand, we have several parties that are always vying for control of our government, and we currently enjoy a minority government, so your results may vary. Quite a bit.
  4. Oh Christ. Yeah, so, uh, embarrassing fact, Lucky Star was the first anime I ever REALLY watched. I very quickly branched out after that.
  5. Wow, so I'm not the only one who thinks like that? It's not that it's hard not to, it's that there's absolutely no REASON not to. :3
  6. Man, you are really retarded. Wilson did nothing more than call out the president on a lie. In the middle of a speech, but considering that what the speech itself was... And again, it did have truth to it. There were so many blatant lies in that speech it made me want to puke. Please, tell me all the things Obama lied about. Fucking list them out for me now. Please.

  9. Phoenix, let me give you a very simple explanation: If you are making an objective or absolute claim (that is a claim about the nature of reality, or a claim that something is true), it is patently absurd to use anything other than scientific evidence. If you are NOT making an objective or absolute claim, and instead are doing something subjective, then scientific evidence may not be so necessary. Belief in aliens, ghosts, god, or any other similar phenomenon, in essence, belief that something EXISTS, is an objective claim. If they exist, they exist. If they don't, they don't. There is no way around that. Therefore, any sane (lol) person will require scientific evidence to acknowledge their existence.

  14. Just going to point out that you know, real evidence that Scientists use is the type of thing that can be verified and helps us do things like cure diseases and build computers. Imagine how fucked our species would be if scientists used "personal evidence". "Oh, you have a broken arm? I believe that chopping it off and having your friend piss on it will make it way better!"
  15. Then join MySpace <_< . I want a lover I don't have to love I want a boy who's too drunk to talk
  16. Yeah, with A LOT of hairgel. See the new live-action Dragonball movie for an example. That friggin movie finally came out? :o It came out a while ago. It's on DVD now. Same with Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. Which actually manages to fit into the cannon... Only just barely. It's a rather large pile of steaming shit, even for a large cannon. And either way, it's useless to cram it in there unless we have somewhere to fire it. I suggest the sun. You must have it confused with the Jean Claude Van Damme Street Fighter. LoCL was actually fairly good, if it wasn't for the overexaggerated sound effects... I'm not going to comment. Except I am.
  17. That's not a stereotype. ...You're joking, right? Do you even know what a stereotype is? Apparently not, enlighten me please, oh grand and mighty genius.
  18. I love SF because I don't actually have to say anything because someone else will have already said what I would have said. But yeah, I'm sure if it was implemented properly it could do pretty well.
  19. I want a lover I don't have to love I want a girl who's too sad to give a fuck
