Which is precisely what makes it good. Perhaps it's just me, but there is a certain type of pretentiousness that I actually find enjoyable. Honestly, the melodrama wasn't particularly forced, and yes it was pretty pretentious, but I don't think that actually took much away from it.

To be fair, I would say using the word perfect in a description of a climax community would not be absurd.

This. This, while people sometimes try to pretend otherwise, is a large part of social skills. People present different sides of themselves to different people and in different situations. Almost everyone does this, consciously or unconsciously. My bosses, for example, would think I was an entirely different person than my friends would.

Oh god. Fuck. Da- I intended to type something without swearing, so started with Oh God, and then that was my automatic response. I swear all the time, and most of my friends do too. It's not to fit in or anything, as I'm probably one of the least constrained people I know, but we just do. I've never quite understood people who have a problem with swearing, to me it's just another form of emphasis, albeit one that has a minor taboo attatched to it. I have a friend who will casually refer to me as "nigger" in public, despite the fact that neither of us are black. He doesn't do it with any sort of malicious intent, or in order to be accepted by society, he just does it. I guess some people just like swearing.

It's pretty great. But I dunno if I have a favorite Smiths song, or a favorite Morrissey song to be honest...

I dunno about other people, but when I read subs it's almost like I hear them in the voice of the character. Not quite, but it's pretty much the same to me as understanding Japanese. Now, of course, I don't understand Japanese at all, but the way it ends up is somewhat similar. I get the tone, etc from the voice and the meaning from the words. Of course you basically get all this anyway from dubs, so this isn't an argument against them, just that I don't know if whether they intended them to be read or not really matters.

Names or honorifics. Names really sound awkward to me for some reason. Maybe it's just the way they say them.
