  1. This is a poor theory and is so overplayed it's ridiculous. Even in the perfect fighting game where you are choosing one fighter as your 'main', characters would be designed to have bad match ups and good match ups against others. In a game where you're asked to choose 3 characters, chances that one of those bad match ups pops up is far more likely. So in a game with just theoretical perfect balance(where each character's total advatanges and disadvantages among all matchups is even, not really possible in fighting games), even if the character were well balanced by, say, being far best against 10 of 30 characters but being bad against 15, they'd still be one of the worst characters in the game unless every character were designed the same way, simply because of the amount of teams that could take him out. And, of course, the balance was bad in the last game on top of that. Spiderman was bad. His best player likely would only redeem him with an otherwise stacked team. Chances are he still couldn't compete well. He's so bad that, when players go to use a low tier character for shock or some utility vs. certain high tier characters, his name STILL doesn't come into play.
  2. Clearly, this is before the bad guys discovered cloning and unlimited funding.
  3. I played this, but it turns out, most other players that share gender and race choose the same archetype. Really takes away from the game.
  4. Not too surprised. Also! About 20 days ago, the Tales of Innocence translation was finished, so SRW J is next up and, as previously stated, should be done within the year.
  5. Well, currently, I'm trying to buy copies of MX and Impact. Impact being one of the harder SRWs (ever). But with a genuine opportunity to get a new copy of MX. Also KH2 Final Mix.
  6. At the same time, he wanted to make a sequel series to expand upon what he created(And that's what the 4th RoE movie is being dedicated to) while the fans simply couldn't get beyond the ending. So he gave the fans what they wanted in twisted fashion. There's still hardly anything there, and he could have actually still gone further with it. As for 'Gundam' and the 'Mecha Genre', it's fairly all encompassing, to the point where Code Gease even qualfies despite the mech's taking a back seat more than half the time. It's a pretty large genre that doesn't require any sort of characters or plots to qualify. If anything, Mecha probably has sub-genres.
  7. The movie was supposed to be questionable. But to say there was nothing between Shinji and Asuka the whole show is almost as ridiculous as suggesting the movie forced the relationship on to you. Shinji is incapable of showing his true feelings but falls into 'lame shy teenage boy mode' any time Asuka tries to be overtly sexual. And Asuka believes that she can do better. Not surprising, seeing as how that's her entire personality. But the movie implies nothing beyond Shinji liking Asuka. And it's left too open for much else, even the idea that they're the only two left(because the ending leaves you with shades of a previous episode).
  8. You're probably in the right. It'd be one thing if it were applied to it's own section, but we're talking about someone threatening, at worst seriously, people who like a game he(and many others) sees as poor being directly compared to someone who has a known problem with religion talking about sending people to concentration camps. The message is completely different. But, at the VERY least, it's not even logical in that spot, as it doesn't add to DW's section and could exist on it's own. Ultimately, it's an opinion based site tracking 'tropes' of opinion based reviews based on movies/games/other things. I'd go as far as to argue the entire list of 'tropes' for the site is worthless on that premise alone, but hey.
  9. Apparently that's a B-magazine from China using the original 'logo' for Z to rumor bait. That, and it's about 2 months early.
  10. Game could probably also use more equip-able items, more maps in the game, more reasons to play more than once. Really, they just need to make the game more dynamic and rewarding while specializing the characters and taking away from some of the predictability.
  11. If we ever see a fresh FE, they really should individualize each character and give you more options at promotion. Hell, if they do it with skills and do it well, they could even add some challenge in every map.
  12. Could be wrong, but the classes don't have a set luck base and thus wouldn't have a growth either. Luck, on enemies anyway, would then have to come from the individual character values for enemies. I imagine that a lot of these are now dedicated to the increase in FE4 characters. Not to mention the potential for balance flaws down the road. As such, yes. Having 0 luck would be a bit easier. And inconsequential.
  13. Well shoot, if that's the case, I guess I'll have to get a PS3 by TGS - SRW games being so damn notorious for staying tight lipped until ~three months before they come out. And seeing as how it's somewhat likely this is an OG title. . .
  14. There were some rumors about an appearance by Cybuster. Not sure how accurate that is. Too bad it's on the PS3, otherwise I'd snatch it up.
  15. I'll go out on a limb and suggest SRW if you haven't played them and are able to find OG1 and/or OG2.
  16. The issue(at least, the one seemingly made against you), as it stands, is he's already using time efficiently as he'd like, playing a video game. Ultimately, this game isn't a task or chore, it's something you chose to do. Short of a game like SRW, where certain missions require certain turn counts(And provide advantages upon completion), you'll lose nothing by getting through the game in 10 hours or 100 hours, as long as you want to play it for 100 hours(and even then, it's arguable) His examples are terrible because if you're asked to do the first, someone expects it done. You can't just take 75 shiny things 80 days later and expect to be congratulated. Suddenly, efficiency matters to you. At least, as I can't imagine a demand being so open ended. The second isn't a complete example - Gas costs on a trip to Wal-mart could kill any advantage, for example. And even if this is the flat out rate, any difference in time could potentially give the other option an edge to you. Not to mention most would consider other words for it anyway. The third example may not penalize you for time took, but I'm sure you'll hate yourself if it takes 10 times longer than it should.
  17. Also, through bonus XP and a robe and virtually any other stat up/decent luck in game, Leanne is maxable.
  18. Essentially a stand in. Like the PS3 game that still hasn't come out or the Wii game that came out this year. While Namco probably benefited from the Bandai merger, a company like Banpresto won't get a 3DS game making tool early enough for it to be of use. Especially not in OG3(likely, at this point, to be a DS title). Espect another DS game late this year and probably an additional one early-mid next year before we see any 3DS title. As for being bitter about OGs and Gaiden, not only are you not missing much of the former but with the latter chances are it's not even their fault.
  19. I thought about it. But decided against that coinage since the topic was discussing types of suits. And Gundam is near universally recognizable.
  20. Culver's Sounds gross for some reason.
