  1. 1/11: They're interchangable so both

3/12: Cain because he's more useful than Abel could ever hope to be

4: Noish for passing down critz

    6: They're interchangable so both

7: Sain because personality is now more of a thing and I guess he's just overall better too. No one can beat the badass known as Marcus though

8: Kyle, though I generally prefer Franz and especially Duessel over the Christmas duo (assuming Seth ban lol)

9/10: Oscar is probably my favorite cavalier in the series so extreme bias here

13: Stahl just because he has the most adorable supports. I guess he's really good during maingame too.

  2. I regret maining Falcon in Melee because so many other characters are just better but I don't regret maining Falcon in Melee because he's super fun to play in friendlies. I also regret spending a lot of time playing Wario in Smash 4/Brawl because PM's moveset is just so much cooler (no Wario Land bias).

  3. Battletoads and Ghosts 'n Goblins for their notorious difficulties should be well known (though I think Ghosts 'n Goblins is a bad game, but Ghouls 'n Ghosts is amazing) but a lot of people have no idea what they are. Also Castlevania should be well known for being a perfect example of memorization and planning gameplay in a platformer and a perfect example of howstiff controls really benefits the overall design, but, once again, a lot of my gamer friends have never seen any of the Castlevania games.

One would also have to consider how the current generation of gaming may not know anything about any old non-Nintendo series due to many series, like Castlevania and Contra not having proper sequels in a long time. Despite the fact that those two games are cornerstones of the gaming world, people that are just getting into gaming won't have a proper system to play the games on and will probably never hear about them except from word-of-mouth from any other gamer who grew up playing those games, which is what I have to do to some of my gaming friends. Nonetheless, you'd be hard pressed to find people that don't know about other cornerstones such as Halo or Minecraft.

  4. He just has a vastly improved combo game, the other bad aspects about him are still bad but he can get a lot from just a dthrow/upthrowand his grab itself is pretty good. Also his nair and upair got super buffed (nair got some kind of weird windbox or something that pulls people in), and those were already some of his best aerials. Pre patch I'd say he's C or even D, but after the last patch his combo ability puts him up in B.

  5. I've been playing Lucas a lot more as of late, and I think he's high tier material now. His zoning and spacing game is phenomenal with PK Fire and his air speed, not to mention his fair and zair. He can even reflect with a quick fsmash to help him win a projectile war. Also, since his recovery is huge, his dair hits multiple times and ends in a meteor, and the fact that almost all of his aerials can KO, he is an extremely potent edgeguarder against characters with okay to even good recovery. His aerials also have low amounts of landing lag, which is always good, and his hoo-hah puts pre-patch Diddy's to shame (though his grab game isn't nearly as good). PK Magnet is also ridiculous, healing about 15% off of Mario fireballs for starters, meaning characters like Mario, Luigi and Pikachu have to think a lot more before using a projectile since Lucas can just heal an extreme amount of % with it, not to mention it has a hitbox on cancelling and cancels very quickly with little endlag if it doesn't absorb anything so it can just be thrown out whenever. His major flaws are his bad approach game and his bad grab, but everything else he has going for him overshadows this.

I think Lucas has a great matchup against Ness since he can just wait until Ness uses PK Thunder while recovering and just Magnet it, which is something Ness can't do in return due to just how much further Lucas's PK Thunder goes compared to Ness' and because Lucas also has a tether. This might be a moot point in customs but most Ness players will probably run default PK Thunder for the KO power. I think he'll struggle with Sheik because needles can't be absorbed but hey who doesn't have problems against Sheik. Rosaluma is also a matchup in Lucas's favor since hitting Luma with PK Fire will still hit Rosa if Luma is near meaning she can't just use it as a shield most of the time. I don't have too much experience with other matchups but it's looking good so far for him.

I haven't tested Roy and Ryu so my opinions of them haven't changed much. Oh, and I consider Mewtwo low tier after much thought. pls give him more weight Nintendo.

  6. Anyone know some Lucas combos?

at low %s, dthrow -> nair -> fair works depending on DI and at higher %s (including KO %s!) dthrow -> uair works, though you'll have to do a quick double jump

for something more advanced, dthrow -> footstool -> 3rd hit of dair -> ftilt is a jablock combo that can lead into itself for a good amount of %s but I haven't tested DI on it and whatnot

The problem with Lucas's combos is that they're almost entirely dependent on dthrow and his grab game is pretty damn weak since its slow, even for a tether, and doesn't have much range compared to other tethers (though his zair is super long) but he's more of a mobile poking character than say Ness so it's not that big of a deal for him

  7. For the inputs, the QC and HC motions can be done slower than you think they need to be done. Trying to do them too fast usually results in input error. DP (Shoryuken) motions are just a pain regardless and should probably be the ones you practice the most on. Too bad charge characters would be impossible to implement in smash.

I'm not entirely sure how to do the collarbone punch input or mid elbow punch. I did manage to pull off a Tatsumaki to Shoryuken in one match though and that focus stun to side smash is stupid deadly especially if you do the dash cancel.

idk what the mid elbow punch you're talking about is (light utilt?) but heavy ftilt is the collarbone punch. I actually prefer to do a focus -> dash -> heavy input shoryuken since that thing KOs so friggin early its not funny

  8. Castlevania 3's final level. Not only do you have to beat 3 pretty diffiicult forms of drac and a very tough level overall with only taking 4 hits (an extra 2 if you pick up the wall meat), but if you die on Drac, which happens a lot, you have to start a the first checkpoint rather than outside his door like in CV1, Super CV4 or hell, the Japanese version of this game.

  9. Sheik needles should have been nerfed. A character that good does not need one of the best projectiles in the game.

That and a nerf to fair would be appreciated, mostly a range one because I'm fine with it being a combo tool. Still I i think we should see some more buffs to low tiers to make them more on par with upper mid or possibly high tiers. I mean Falco got super buffed in this patch and I would love to see more characters get that treatment.

  10. Fair enough, I didn't play enough of Roy or against him to get a good feel so I just sorta thought of Marth and his flaws and based my opinion off that. My biggest problem with Roy is not having enough options in neutral. Yeah, he has disjoints, good speed and grab range, but he lacks a projectile and has the same endlag problems Marth has. But, I will change my opinion from lower mid to upper mid with the arguments you stated.

  11. I just want to note, for those that say Lucas will be good because Ness is really good, Ness has tools that Lucas doesn't have such as a good grab game, a very strong kill throw, a dangerous to intercept recovery, ways to combo PK Thunder to PK Thunder 2 for a KO and a PK Fire that sets up said grabs.

Anyway, Lucas I think will be upper midt ier. He has decent dthrow combos, huge recovery so he can go pretty deep, a tether to mix up said recovery, a surprisingly good projectile clanking tool in PK Fire since the explosion will still hit people, an arguably better PK Magnet than Ness', a decent ground game, and a relatively safe fsmash that comes out surprisngly quick and KO's at decent percents. However, he still suffers from a lack of range on his standard moves, he has 2 good KO options in fsmash and upair (dsmash may be an option but I haven't tested how safe it is), and his PK Thunder 2 is easier to edgeguard than Ness'

Roy will probably be lower mid tier, he still suffers from the game wanting him to space badly when an important part of a fighting game is spacing properly. Howver, a lot of his moves were straight up buffed. Flare Blade has a lot less endlag, hitting with the tip is overall stronger than in Melee, he can dthrow into Blazer at a lot of %s, and Blazer KOs at high %s now.

Ryu will probably be high tier, his projectile game is just okay, but he has no problems punishing players for bad bad decisions, can combo a jab or light dtilt into a Shoryuken that KOs at relatively low %s, Focus attack can punish a lot of moves and can either KO itself or lead into a KOing Shoryuken. Honestly, Shoryuken is just an amazing move that gets better with any stage with a platform since it will be even harder to punish, seriously, this thing has very few endlag frames on landing, KO's early, you can run into it etc. As a Megaman player, the real Shoryuken makes me really jealous.

Mewtwo will probably be mid tier. He's big and light, yeah, and has a few problems with characters that can really get in, but he has a butt ton of tools at his disposal which offset these flaws such as his specials, which can really confuse people and are good for mixups in general. Oh, he has a really good jab too.

These are just opinions but the main thing I wanted to get out of the way was the misconception that Lucas will be strong because Ness is.

  12. 1. Mother 3

    2. Final Fantasy V

    3. Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

    4. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

    9. Brave Fencer Musashi

    10.Pokemon Omega Ruby

  13. NES Batman final stage. You have to go through the stage itself, which is hard as is, afterwards you have to fight an admittedly easy boss, then the Joker himself, who can take 1/3 of your health with most of his hard to dodge attacks and can take hits like a champ. Oh yeah, dying at any time puts you back at the very beginning of the level.
