  1. I've got a new topic/poll for Smash Bros. players http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=63705
  2. As you can see in this chart, there are many characters with swords, and many characters with reflectors, but NO CHARACTER...can reflect missiles with their sword. Thus, I propose that a Sin & Punishment character be added to Smash to fulfill this niche. Of course, this would fulfill other niches as well - a sword fighter fully equipped for ranged combat - a Sin & Punishment rep (Seriously, why don't we have one yet...) - and a character that would finally get me to stop abusing Dedede's Jet Hammer. Indeed, the possibilities are endless. Who's with me? (EDIT: Please do not vote "no" if you haven't played a Sin & Punishment game. Some users have personal bias against me, and I don't want that to affect poll results.)
  3. INTJ - Architect - Imaginative and strategic thinkers, with a plan for everything. Why aren't all FE players INTJs? Instead, most folks here are INFP - Mediator - Poetic, kind, and altruistic people, always ready to help a good cause. I have concluded that FE is not a strategy game. What is it?
  4. Last I checked there were 5 playable FE characters. 1. Marth, the true swordsman. 2. Ike, the burly swordsman. 3. Lucina, the user-friendly swordsman. 4. Robin, the campy swordsman. 5. Roy, the inverse swordsman. 6. Corrin, the weirdo swordsman. See? That's five! .........oh. Nevermind. And you know what sucks? NONE of them can deflect projectiles with their sword. #Sin&Punishment4Smash
  5. But have you seen the Fire Emblem fanbase? The reaction to 5 playable FE characters was a riot.

    Hello!

Great! Now put this in your profile. Many other users also mention other games they play, hobbies, personality, etc.
  7. I believe it was $7 at launch, but about a year ago its price was cut to $3.50. It also got an update with a few bonus levels where you fly through rings (not like Superman 64)
  8. Greetings, folks. This is a review of AiRace Speed, a futuristic racer for the 3DS eshop that released on September 19, 2013. The gameplay of AiRace Speed can be summed up as follows: Imagine piloting the Arwing from Star Fox, except it's going at F-Zero speeds through winding tunnels filled with instant-kill obstacles. It's as much a fast, intense death race as it sounds like. The controls are simple - you can steer in any direction, bank left and right to improve your turning, brake, and use the nitro. Nitro acts as a boost that rapidly accelerates you to your highest speed, and it's infinite - the catch is that the faster you go, the harder it is to avoid the insta-death obstacles. So will you take it easy and settle for a bronze-star time to unlock the next level, or will you go full throttle and push the limits of your speed and skill to the max? There are 18 levels. Most contain three laps of increasing speed (your min and max speed actually go up after each lap), time requirements for bronze, silver, and gold stars, and three optional objectives - A. Win without crashing. B. Win without releasing the nitro or crashing. C. Win without touching any walls. There are also 42 achievements, which mostly necessitate completing these challenges, but include a few others as well. Two of the levels are infinite and randomly generated. After every 20 obstacles, you'll pass a checkpoint that increases your speed. Brakes are disabled to prevent cheesing your way through, but you can still use nitro if you're feeling dangerous. After several levels you can even exceed the speed of sound while using nitro. You only get three lives for these levels though. The presentation is quite nice, if a bit repetitive (one you've seen one sci-fi tunnel, you've seen them all). The frame rate is sadly not 60 fps, but 30 fps minimum, which is still good because a frame rate drop would adversely impact the gameplay. The speed can get very fast...very fast - and the highest challenges are as hard as you might imagine. One excellent touch is that all the obstacles are uniquely highlighted in yellow, which makes them easy to identify quickly. There are also online leaderboards, but because of the simple gameplay and how hard it already is, I didn't actually care about achieving a high rank. There is no multiplayer of any kind. No online, no local, not even computers to race. The tunnels aren't large enough to accommodate many players, and I commend the developer for their razor-sharp focus, but for a game with "Race" in the title, the irony is palpable. This is a single, solo, solitary experience about YOU. How fast will YOU go? Can YOU earn all the achievements? Those are the questions, and caring about the answers is necessary to enjoy this game. One thing that really soured the experience for me at the end was these two achievements... Crash Maniac: Crash 1000 times overall. Super Captain: Fly more than 10 hours overall. After completing the game, I had 6 hours of playtime and 340 crashes. If I already experienced everything the game has to offer, where am I supposed to get this extra 4 hours and 660 crashes from? The game does not have enough content to justify these achievements (for a skilled player, at least), and instead creates grinding in a racing game. (NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) Other than that, this is a great game. It's one of the fastest and most challenging games on 3DS. It's cheap and has a demo, so racing fans should check it out. 8/10 (Great!)
  9. 1. Impressions? 2. Favorite Treasure game? 3. Zelda or Metroid? 4. Kirby or Klonoa? 5. Pokemon - bad RPG or worst RPG?
  10. I think Dedede should at least be above Bowser. Bowser's suicide move is glitched and doesn't even work right!
  11. Some examples of games that put real good thought into the utilization of the controller... [spoiler=Sin & Punishment: Star Successor] 1. Mutually exclusive actions are mapped to the same button (tap or hold), so the player never has to move their fingers to different buttons. 2. Offensive actions are mapped to the Wii Remote, while defensive actions are mapped to the Nunchuck. This makes the controls easier to understand. 3. The Wii Remote's IR pointer is PERFECT for shooting things - a vast improvement over the original Sin & Punishment. [spoiler=Metroid Prime Trilogy] 1. Actions and buttons are paired based on the frequency of the action and the reachability of the button. 2. Holding the +/- buttons opens pointer shortcuts for switching beams and visors. 3. The Wii Remote's IR pointer is PERFECT for shooting things - a vast improvement over the original Metroid Prime. And those that didn't... [spoiler=Metroid: Other M] 1. The player must change the orientation of the controller - in a fast-paced action game - a recipe for disaster. 2. Using a directional pad for 3D movement. [spoiler=Super Mario 64 DS] 1. Using a directional pad for 3D movement... and worse, the original game was built for a control stick! [spoiler=Kid Icarus: Uprising] 1. Walking, dashing, and dodging are all mapped to the circle pad, with no button inputs to separate them. Combine with limited stamina for disaster. 2. Swiping the touch screen to turn the camera is worse than tilting a control stick OR pointing at the edge of the screen. 3. Moving while aiming and using powers is literally impossible. 4. The "scope" button, regardless of mapping, is impossible to reach comfortably. 5. This portable game comes with a stand for your 3DS.
  12. Why is Sheik still top tier after her nerf? And why is Dedede bottom?
  13. I'll try the demo and edit this post with my thoughts. UPDATE: This demo is a barrage of tutorials and unusual mechanics. It's much like later Kingdom Hearts' tutorials. That is a bad thing. UPDATE 2: Now that I (mostly) understand what's going on, I've determined that this game is about luck and grinding. There are minor skill and strategy elements, but they are not as important as the random set-up of cards, and having a horse with good stats. I conclude that this is a mediocre time waster, probably even worse than Pokemon. 5/10 In completely unrelated news, Art of Balance: Touch is currently on sale for $5.20 (Pocket Card Jockey is $6.99). Under these circumstances, I strongly recommend it over this game, and it too has a demo.
  14. In that case, I guess it's up to the developers/publishers to release the numbers.
  15. Why is sales data so private in the west?
  16. VGChartz says their sales data is an estimate. That doesn't count as fake data. What's the best source of sales data?
  17. Apparently the level Matthew gave to GameXplain (shown at the end of their video) is based on their discussion theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHCKo6Dm3cE If I get Tadpole Treble, I am absolutely making some Sin & Punishment music in the composition mode.
  18. @Doof: That game looks good! My favorite $15 Wii U eShop game is currently Fast Racing Neo. It's so fast and exciting.
  19. Did you know? The Apollo 1 set on fire, and killed everyone inside. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_1
  20. Tadpole Treble will soon be unleashed into this world! For those not in the know, it was created by Matthew Taranto, who made the Nintendo webcomic Brawl in the Family. The idea is that you move up and down to collect goodies while avoiding mines that represent the notes in the song. It also has a composition mode to make your own levels, which can be shared via QR codes.
  21. So the entire E3 will literally be just Zelda... that's underwhelming... but I'll be playing Kirby: Planet Robobot during that time, so it's cool.
  22. 1. Impressions? 2. What's your favorite Treasure game and why? 3. What's your favorite Shi'nen game and why? 4. Who do you main in Smash Bros 4 and why? 5. You must be tired of answering questions. Will you impose a limit?
  23. @~Summer~: How would you respond if the fox you met was one of these characters? http://muramasatdb.wikia.com/wiki/Yuzuruha http://muramasatdb.wikia.com/wiki/Kongiku http://orig03.deviantart.net/0d3e/f/2015/158/e/0/tanookiluigi_by_zacmariozero-d8web29.png
