Lyn is extremely out of place and will be the only Blazing Blade character. It has to be Intelligent Systems. Especially when a random Celica will be thrown in the game soon.

It wouldn't be out of character for Koei to do that though. Hyrule Warriors had a focus on Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword but Koei also wanted to randomly include Tingle from Majora's Mask in the base game until Aonuma (Zelda director) said not to.

As such, it could be Koei really wanted to include Lyn or Intelligent Systems requested/demanded that she be in. We don't have enough information yet.

Well, Hyrule got theirs through free DLC which I can see happening. I can see a few villains from these 3 main games though. I really cant see them going without Camus, whether he gets in the base game or through free DLC like Hyrule. Garon wouldnt be a bad choice, I dont think anyone would complain about another infantry axe user. Similar situation with Hans. Walhart wouldnt be a bad choice either. Hardin, even though he is Mystery of the Emblem, is another good choice. There are some good choices from these 3.

Now if this was the series as a whole, I would say the chances of villains on the base roster are even higher. Between characters like the Black Knight, Valter, Arvis, etc. Lot of villains across the series that people would love to play as.

Again though, they might do similar to what Hyrule did, which was throw out the villains as free DLC in a later update. Its not like it would be that difficult, they have to have some type of moveset already if they are being implemented into the game as enemies.

Yeah, I kinda expect villains by the end of DLC, especially the Black Knight due to his popularity and presence, but I think villains were a weak point of Awakening and Fates..and I haven't played enough Shadow Dragon since I couldn't get past the claymation looking sprites..so I don't know there.

I will say, from a moveset perspective, Garon could be cool if he mixes in elements of his boss fights, like a stretchy slime arm swinging the axe.

Nope. Navarre is from one of the three games so it makes no sense for him to be a clone of Lyn. Lyn was forced last second from Intelligent Systems like Lucina. There's likely a generic myrmidon moveset and instead of one copying another they copied that.

"It's not really. This is likely due to Lyn being a late addition; they were able to use Navarre as a pre-established base." -Dan

    ^ This

You're making an assumption. Koei Tecmo said MOSTLY pulling from those three titles as a focus, not only. It's possible it was worded this way due to Lyn and possibly Celica being in from the get-go but not feeling a need to have those games as a focus.

Fact is, at the moment, we just don't know who came first or even if Navarre plays like Lyn.

Sounds about right to me. Add in a few more villains to hit 35 and I think that would be a good roster. Probably Camus, Gharnef, and Garon. I would personally replace Validar with Walhart, but Validar is the larger bad guy of the two, dealing with the ending directly unlike Walhart.

Honestly, I think we may not have any playable villains since Koei originally only planned on including Ganondorf with Zant and Ghirahim as last minute additions that were originally NPC villains and then Cia, Volga, and Wizzro as an after release update purely out of demand to play as them all. I don't think Fire Emblem has many villains anyone is requesting to be playable for any reason other then being villains.

We've also seen Validar and his 'reveal' made me believe that he won't be playable due to having no fanfare and not being included in any trailers.

We'll see how it ends up but my gut tells me that there won't be playable villains in the base game.

I'm much less enthusiastic about the game after Lyn's announcement because I really don't care about Lyn that much. I would have preferred to get Jagen instead of Lyn. I actually wanted some shadow dragon characters, and since it looks like we may only be getting 3, that makes me a little upset. Sure, there's this whole Navarre thing, but he very well could be an npc, like Validar. I think they should have just owned this whole focus on 3 games thing, unless this game has significantly more playable characters than the leak let on. I guess there could be characters on the back of the box? I doubt it though, since 25 is already a lot.

I doubt it, Navarre was seen in the big group shot, I doubt an NPC would be there and, so far, the only NPC from a main series title, Validar, was shown in History Mode while the group shot was clearly from Story Mode.

It's more likely that the box simply doesn't show all of the characters in the game, perhaps instead just showing the 25 that will be put onto the cards (after all, they never claimed there would be a card for every character).

Right, yeah. That's why I say both Ikes are equally iconic now and either one could be the default in FE Warriors, I would just prefer RD Ike. Also, RD Ike would be slightly easier to use, as he already has a pre-made 3DS sprite. They'd have to make a new one from scratch for PoR Ike.

I think Tecmo Koei will make Ike's 3DS model from scratch anyway, Marth doesn't look like Smash Marth in 3DS Warriors aside from similar costume.

  7. 6 hours ago, Anacybele said:

Dude, it's not JUST those, it's Smash too. Also, RD Ike appeared in Echoes via Amiibo too now. So he effectively has more appearances than his PoR self now. PoR Ike has PoR (of course), Brawl, and now Heroes. Awakening doesn't count because that art is entirely different to either version of Ike. It's its own design. RD Ike has RD, Smash Wii U/3DS, Fates, Echoes, and Codename Steam, plus the Amiibo. And he'll surely be in Heroes eventually too. It's not just one or two minor appearances, it's ALL these bunches of appearances and the Amiibo.

Now, I'd be fine if PoR Ike was the default and the Ike Amiibo unlocked an RD Ike alt though. I would just prefer RD Ike as the default for the sake of variety. Nobody in the game is a muscular mercenary guy so far, just like in Smash. RD Ike also fits the slow and powerful style he's been getting lately better.

While true, it's literally only because the amiibo unlocks Ike in those titles, it wouldn't make sense to have the RD Ike amiibo unlock PoR Ike..as such it's still up in the air.

btw, i never played HW, so i don't know how they handled dlc with that game, but these are my hopes and thoughts

In Hyrule Warriors we had 3 initial packs (sold individually or as Season Pass (which came with Dark Link costume if bought), 4 costume packs, and 3 free DLC updates.

Ocarina of Time Costume Pack (Link & Zelda)

Twilight Princess Costume Pack (Link & Zelda)

Skyward Sword Costume Pack (Link & Zelda)

King of Evil Costume Pack (OoT & TP Ganondorf)

Update 1 - Playable Cia, Volga, and Wizzro (the game's OC villains)

amiibo Unlock - New Spinner Weapon for Link.

Master Quest - New Weapon for Link (Epona), new costumes for Cia & Lana, new Master Quest Adventure Map, new alt colours for characters unlockable (except DLC, includes Update 1 pack characters though).

Twilight Princess - New character Twili Midna (True Form Midna), Postman costume for Link, Ilia costume for Zelda (essentially almost playable Ilia), new Twilight Princess Adventure Map, new alt colours for characters unlockable (except DLC, includes Update 1 pack characters though).

Majora's Mask - New character Young Link/Fierce Diety, New character Tingle, OoT costumes for Sheik & Impa, Termina Adventure Map, Masked Costumes for Most Characters unlockable (except DLC & Link, includes Update 1 pack characters though), Fierce Diety costume for Link unlockable.

Boss Pack - New Playable Beast Ganondorf Mode, New Unlockable Giant Cucco Mode, Unlockable Boss Colours for Link, Zelda, Lana, & Cia, Cucco Colours Unlockable for Ganondorf.

Update 2 - Legends Announcement Gift Classic NES Costume for Link.

Update 3 - Free DLC Character Medli

Also packs released to download Legends characters & weapons into Wii U version.[/spoiler]

Then Legends released with its own Season Pass (which unlocked Ganondorf's Wind Waker robes costume) as well as individual packs, 1 update, and 1 unreleased outside of Japan costume. Legends itself included all previous DLC as unlockable content as well as brought in characters from Wind Waker (Toon Link, Tetra, King Daphnes), Skull Kid from Majora's Mask, and new OC Linkle. Ganondorf gained a new Trident Weapon.

Classic Link Costume - Only Released with Japanese Hyrule Gold Edition New Nintendo 3DS.

Update 1 - Free Medli DLC Character.

Master Quest Great Sea Pack - Master Quest Great Sea Adventure Map, New Unlockable Colours for Some Characters.

Link's Awakening Pack - New Playable Character Marin, New Boots Weapon for Linkle, Koholint Island Adventure Map, Unlockable Colours for Some Characters.

Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks Pack - New Character Toon Zelda (Spirit Zelda), New Sand Rod Weapon for Toon Link, Phantom Sea Adventure Map, Unlockable Colours for Some Characters.

Link Between Worlds Pack - New Character Ravio, New Character Yuga, Lorule Adventure Map, Unlockable Colours for Some Characters.

The Season Passes were fairly cheap.

With this as a template though, Hyrule Warriors added more content for Twilight Princess & kinda OoT & TP with the Epona weapon and then added content for OoT's direct sequel, Majora's Mask. Hyrule Warriors Legends was better at this, adding new content for Wind Waker and then as DLC adding new content for games not included or direct sequels to those already in the game (Free Medli DLC character & Phantom Hourglass map as the sole exceptions to that).

As such, DLC for Fire Emblem Warriors could go either route, adding more Awakening/Fates/Shadow Dragon, adding New Mystery of the Emblem content, or expanding into other games.

I do think that if Tharja isn't in the base game that she'll be a Free DLC Update character like Medli was.

  9. 11 hours ago, Lord-Zero said:

@Deva Ashera: That is also true. Now that I think about it, the current FE Warriors roster doesn't have an infantry mage.

Yeah, I wouldn't count Robin(s) as an infantry mage myself since, even if only for a special, the Levin Sword is still used.

Based on popularity, I'd have to say Tharja will likely be announced as our pure, unmounted mage and Validar will likely use her moveset considering he's based on the male Dark Mages from Awakening and I can't honestly see most of Tharja's moveset looking too feminine considering her personality (only her specials would likely show of her 'feminine attributes').

Ah yes, we're definitely getting Validar either in the vanilla roster or as an early update like Cia, Volga and Wizzro in HW. While I don't like the fact that Sakura seems to be a 90% Takumi clone, I like the combo strings so far. I hope the complete combo chains are different for Sakura.

Maybe, depends on if he's more based on a generic mage moveset or not as well as how many NPC History Characters there are.

For a franchise based around tons of characters where the most important differences between them are the personalities and the stats... I think it's understandable to see semi-cloned characters.

    Ditto.

I don't mind characters sharing movesets anyway since, in this game's case, it gives me an option of using a character I do like, or prefer, even if I love the base moveset whereas if I'm forced to use a character I don't like, there's a chance I'll be mostly familiar with their moveset from a character I do like that shares it.

I hope all the game's songs are as good as these ones.

If Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors Legends are anything to go by, they will be. That game had a killer soundtrack in regards to both remixes and original songs. I'm hoping Nintendo can and will use songs from both Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors in the next Super Smash Bros. title.

  13. 1 hour ago, Sbuscoz said:

Probably, but imo they should use this opportunity to gave them a moveset with personality, I don't care if Leo cast his spell in the same pose as the others but make the attack, or at least the effect, unique, as he doesn't has a reason to use any other tome that isn't Brynhildr.

He doesn't, but you can equip him with different tomes that aren't Brynhildr in both Fates and Warriors so having a few non-Brynhildr attacks makes sense while also adding a bit more variety to his attacks.

  14. 2 minutes ago, Sbuscoz said:

I explained myself poorly in my first comment, so I'll try again.

Obviously I prefer having a character as a clone than not having it at all, and I'm fine with clones... on lesser characters. My issue is: characters like Leo or Takumi should have a moveset on their own, Elise and Sakura doesn't have a legendary weapon, so it isn't that bad, but imo Leo should use more brynhildr and less "random tomes", and Sakura, or the archer moveset, a bit slower (but that's me thinking that the strongest show doesn't suite her).

I know they do it for efficiency, the reason I called it lazy wasn't the clones themself or the animations, but the combination of the point above (the unique movesets) and not having enough clases and clones to pull it off right now imo.

I hope this time I've explained better.

I'm fine with your example of 5 heroes, they would be included in the "lesser characters" tag, read above to see what I meant with lazy, it probably can be resumed in "I'd be fine with the system, but I'm not with the one from the game as of now".

Don't Leo & Takumi still have the same animations as other male mounted mages and archers respectively though? I forget since I don't really use either of them. That said, it's possible that they taught Elise and Sakura how to use tomes/yumi.

Multiple people (not listing names) on the Discord have given up on the game because they included a swordie from a non-focus game. With Navarre and Celica, we've got 11 sword wielding characters-- there are a total of 14 sword lords in the series.
Their express purpose for limiting the roster was to avoid having too many swords. They were already cutting it close (pardon the pun), but with three more swordies-- two of which are outside the focus games --they have utterly demolished what credibility was left in their PR. Though I personally don't see it as a reason to drop the game, the PR department has dug its own grave. They may as well just have included every sword lord at this point, which just revives roster complaints.

It's still valid enough. If they had to include almost or every lord there would be no room for non-Lord sword users. This is about the ammount of sword weilders I was expecting, ratio-wise. Lyn, like Lucina, may have been a demand from Nintendo/IS.

Beyond that, while Celica has a sword, she'll probably be more like a Red Mage and sling spells as well as swing swords and not a pure swordswoman.
