Why do they bother assigning the Corns to the different fams when M!Corn isn't supposed to be story relevant like F!Robin?

Probably not, it's possible the arrows are meant for them both or just a hint at them doing what they did for almost all Hoshido and Nohr Noble cipher cards and having Male Corrin class change to Hoshido Noble and Female Corrin class change to Nohr Noble...or they just did it for fun.

    5 hours ago, Arthur97 said:

But they specifically said female Robin wouldn't be in the story mode. And it makes more sense given the duality of Fates and how each Corrin was associated with one family.

Only for the box art and cipher cards. I sincerely doubt they'd include both genders of Corrin in the story if they weren't doing so for Robin.

Corrin could be the exception to the rule - while I'm personally a bit doubtful I'm not ruling it out entirely either.
I mean there's no spot for Darios either on that poster (Rowan and Lianna are too close) and he's...well we know he's in the game.

Unless the European image is different from the NA one, aside from logos on boxes, then Lianna isn't actually seen on the poster since that section, aside from Rowan, is hidden behind a case.

That said we don't actually know if Darios is playable yet. Remember that Cia, Volga, and Wizzro weren't initially playable and both Zant and Ghirahim almost weren't. However, even if he is, that poster image is still clearly not the final product.

One of the few sister characters that came out of Japan that I actually like and aren't annoying ONII-CHAN cliches. Not saying Elise is 100% of the time, it's just that when she is (like in her random anime cutscene) I feel like killing myself from cringe.

If only because the English release drastically lowered her Moé traits..Hopefully that carries over to this localization.

    Yeah I know... Unfortunately...

If they don't appear as DLC though I will be very shocked.

They probably will, though I kind of expect we'll see Ike, Roy, and Lyn first, they're the only ones appearing in both Smash Bros. and the Choose Your Legend event to not appear yet (along with Hector and Tharja if you include those not in the Top 2).

    12 minutes ago, Pokechu said:

I think Sakura could be revealed by herself like Elise was, and they could reveal Azura and Male Corrin at one time since they kind of go together. It's really strange how we haven't gotten Azura yet.

I don't think they'll only reveal a single character in Famitsu, they may do the remaining Fates characters and perhaps Tharja since it just seems unlikely for her not to appear considering her popularity..unless they want to keep some characters as surprises.

    3 minutes ago, Tactician_Iris said:

True she could be, and I agree on that leaving Azura out would be...odd.
The thing that gives me pause on Azura compared to M!Corrin is the lack of a logical slot for her on the poster - but even then, she could be added below Hoshido/Nohr's royalty.

It's possible that she'll be placed above Corrin and that Corrin is actually placed slightly lower then in the preview pic.

I'm very happy that single-system multiplayer (and potentially co-op) is 100% confirmed. But would we actually need a Pro Controller/a second pair of Joy Cons, or can we just split one pair of Joy Cons? I would presume the latter is possible since the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors could be played with the Wii Remote + Nunchuck, and a single Joy Con could more or less be considered a hybrid of the two. And if it's not possible, then shouldn't it say that "Addional controllers are required"? Guess Nintendo was always funny with how they phrase things.

I think they confirmed offline co-op for Switch some time ago.

Chances are two Joy Cons or a Pro Controller will be required. Even Wiimote/Nunchuk (4 face, 3 shoulder,  + & -, 1 Dpad, 1 control stick) has more buttons then a single Joy Con has (which is 4 face, two shoulders, + or -, 1 control stick).

They always use the word 'may' for some reason.

It's not even that I've pulled him so many times, it's that for me he is useless, his hammer is incredibly situational, brash assault doesn't fit into any of my characters and his mustache bothers me.

Anyways back on topic, I have no clue how to feel about the website's current condition, I wonder what it says about NoA's confidence in this project, I understand issues being a thing but if I was to be overly cynical about it I would think that they just translated some lines from the japanese site and just threw it all together in a weekend. I mean we are less than two months from launch and we still don't have the full website. I wonder if someone forgot about it.

The Hyrule Warriors site was largely the same at first, honestly..it still has less info then the Japanese one.

Fire Emblem's sales have ALWAYS been front loaded, meaning the overwhelming majority of lifetime sales happen during the first month, with insane drop off in sales afterwards.

But this isn't a straight Fire Emblem title, half of it is a Warriors title..so we should be looking at their sales as well.

Hyrule Warriors continued selling well even after the initial release month, it also comes out directly before the Holidays so you should factor that in as well. In addition, there aren't a ton of Switch games to compete with aside from Super Mario Odyssey and Fire Emblem has had a definite boost in popularity since the release of Awakening.

I think it will do just fine in sales.

Also, I got my reservation for the Special Edition in on Amazon, yay.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I have hope, not expectations. You won't hear salt from me.

That's all I'd ask, I hate seeing people set themselves up for disappointment and then acting like they were denied a sure thing.

I do hope for a pleasant surprise, but currently my hopes are to see Lyn, Roy, and Ike as DLC shortly after launch. Provided Tharja is just left unrevealed and how likely Tiki is to be in (I love both so even just Young Tiki is fine), that only leaves Lyn, Eirika, and Nephenee out in regards to my favorites..and I suspect only Lyn will end up in this entry out of those three.

  8. I don't hold to 25 as a hard number, some units, like the Robins, Corrins, and Twins could share cards. It's also possible they would omit OCs from more then just a group shot card..who knows?

If it is 25 total though, that's fine with me. It's still more then Hyrule Warriors had and DLC both free and paid is still likely, including a possible Legends style story & characters DLC update.

No, I'm saying I can't see him alone, without any of the other C1 Aritian guys.

Exactly my point. The best hope we have is the random loggers that didn't come back for Mystery. At least New Mystery gives them a chance...

They had him in Tokyo Mirage Sessions though..just sayin'

If the roster will indeed consist of 25 characters, then I sure hope we get to see more Shadow Dragon guys soon, not to mention villains. Wouldn't we need at least one bad guy from every represented game?

Also, where was this photoshopped poster I heard so much about?

Not necessarily, villains were included with other games due to the popularity of their villains, at least partially  (look at Ghirahim's popularity for instance in regards to how many wanted him in Smash).

Koei Tecmo also stated in a Hyrule Warriors interview that they hadn't originally intended Zant & Ghirahim to be playable but did due to interest in them (this is also why Cia, Volga, and Wizzro weren't initially playable until a patch added them). They also technically didn't have a villain for Ocarina of Time since Ganondorf sported a new OC design for the game more based on his Twilight Princess design and Demise from Skyward Sword.

In all honesty, I can't think of any villains from those three games that are all that popular as characters in their own right or that I'm just raring to play as..outside of maybe Aversa since I like her aesthetics..but even then there's a lot of other characters I'd rather play as from Awakening.

I think we may have more original villains and perhaps Grima since they could just use Robin's model and moveset for that role (heck, if they get separated during the story, they could play an imposter card like with imposter Lana and imposter Zelda in Hyrule Warriors using Grima) or have the big bad from Fates in a way controlling Takumi for a bit (or a reference to it through units like Takumi being controlled against their will akin to him and those in the Revelations path)

The poster in the Special Edition picture looks incomplete, like they photoshoped out unannounced characters in order to show it off and avoid a Robin/Lissa/Lucina accident like the Japanese Treasure Box Edition reveal.

  10. I'm so hyped for that Fire Emblem Warriors Special Edition..I haven't missed one since Fates, including Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. I'm already loving the music, just like in Hyrule Warriors, and I'm a bitch for artwork, be it posters, artbooks, or cards.

In regards to other conversational topics..

1] The poster looks incomplete, probably photoshoped to take off unannounced characters.

2] 25 would actually be a pretty large 1st game roster for just about any game..it fits their promise of being the largest 1st game spin-off/crossover Warriors title.

3] While you can all hope for Ike & Roy to be in the base game, please remember that it is unlikely still and don't bemoan it if they aren't there since you had ample time to accept the possibility. That said, if Ike, Roy, and Lyn aren't at least in the first round of DLC, I would be shocked.

Speaking of, I hope DLC characters are treated more equal in Fire Emblem Warriors then in Hyrule Warriors. I think DLC characters deserve Alternate Costumes and Colours like the rest of the cast (especially considering how many good options Ike, Roy, and Lyn have thanks to their base games, Awakening, Smash, and Heroes).

@Torii I'm surprised; stuff like draw distance and enemy count doesn't seem to have been decreased. Hopefully this means there's hope for something like a 540p/60FPS option for handeld to match the 720p/60FPS option when docked.

Does the dock really heighten any of the Switch's specs though? It may possibly run 720p/60fps in handheld.

Regardless, I'm sure there's a 60fps option for handheld too.

Yeah, Mario Warriors sounds like a terrible idea.

I don't think so. Mario is one of the few series that can work with any genre..and it certainly has enough diverse characters to make fun movesets for..as well as diverse mooks like Goombas, Koopas, Hammer Bros, Boos, Shyguys (particularly if using some Yoshi series variants), then even some from Wario & Donkey Kong. For villains, they could fight Toads, Yoshis, Bob-omb Buddies, and other good guy mooks.

Throw in characters from Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, and maybe get permission from Square-Enix for Super Mario RPG, as well as spin off series characters from Donkey Kong, Wario Land, and WarioWare (Ashley in particular) and they may well have a hit on their hands.

The only possible thing hindering it would honestly be Miyamoto and his 'main series only' demand that he's placed on all spin-offs except Mario & Luigi (he's what neutered the Paper Mario series)

Hopefully we do get more news for Archanea, we have 1 thing from all of it and that's just Marth. I mean you can count Tiki but she hasn't been "officially" confirmed.

Well, that makes sense, it was just Chrom until the Awakening trailer, it'll be the same for Marth when we get a Shadow Dragon trailer.

Nice. Sadly I would have liked Camilla more if she wasn't overly fanserviced like she is in cutscenes and had to be 500% doting on Corrin. As for Tharja, wish we had an explanation of this obsession with Robin. And not the reincarnation of Rhajat one.

    I only recognized the similarity in the voices because the moment I watched it, I had rewatched some vids with Labrys from Arena. Damn, was that story heartwrenching. ;-;

Yeah, despite being a girl that enjoys her some T&A, they probably overdid it and I didn't care much for the Corrin doting either. In her supports though, particularly the one with Hinoka, she can be sweet and even kinda cute.

Tharja, and Camilla, realistically are most likely explained by being the extreme center of attention, harem keeper, everyone thinks you're amazing trope being very common in Japanese self-insert media..it's kinda sad. In game though, who knows, maybe she misinterpreted your ability to change her mind to join you as something 'special'.

Yes it was..Labrys made herself one of my fave Persona girls with that.

  15. Ah, thank you both. If anything, that means it's still up in the air since Intelligent Systems or Nintendo could still say to include this or that character anyway or to not include a certain character, like was the case with Tingle in Hyrule Warriors prior to DLC.

  16. Not a bad prediction..I definitely agree with Tiki and Tharja.

Also, given that Lucina was on the chopping block, and that there are still some characters left who are more popular than her from the Fates cast, Azura's not a "surefire thing".  Very likely, yes, but not a guarantee.

    Where was that said?

No, you're not the only one.

Well, the magic users seem to be the ones who will wield multiple elements in this Warriors game, so eh.

(I did enjoy the multiple light lasers though. Better luck next time Camilla.)

Glad I'm not the only one.

I'll have to check out that video when I get home..Camilla looks soo fun. I was worried since she (along with Tharja, Lucina, Eirika, Lyn, Nephenee, and both Tikis) is my favorite FE character.

I am not that annoyed by the voices, but it does take some getting used to. Though my biggest shock was to find out that Labrys became Hinoka.

It does, yeah, which is why I think people are having issues with it.

Lol I thought that about Hinoka, Amy Rose, and Labrys only with Makoto Nanaya, one of my top fav. Fighting game characters.

  18. Am I seriously the only one not bothered by the voices?

I mean, the acting did sound awkward in the trailer, but the actual voices sound fine to me. Camilla actually sounds her age now, being youthful (she only looks mature due to body type and hairstyle) and I don't think her nor Hinoka sound like lolis as someone claimed. For Hinoka, that's just how Cindy Robinson sounds, go listen to her voice Makoto in Blazblue, Labrys in Persona 4 Arena (though with a Brooklyn accent put on), or Amy Rose in Sonic Boom (TV Show).

I don't think it's them being 'bad' that is bothering people, it's sounding different. Sometimes, on a subconscious level, different can equate to bad.

Again though, I grew up in the era of ACTUALLY bad voice acting with the likes of Mega Man 8 and X4 and various other PSone era gems so I'm likely just not as bothered by acting not being superb.

Even still, the voices don't sound awful to the point of wanting to mute or change to Japanese..I think some of you are overreacting..

I was joking around for the most part and there are plenty of people on SF that like it. That said, it seems like the general western fanbase doesn't really like it. This Reddit survey sample for example.

Honestly, I only had a dislike of Shadow Dragon due to the ugly sprite work in that game..like some failed claymation thing..ick..

I love the characters and story, just like I do with any Fire Emblem title.

  20. 2 minutes ago, Namarid said:

From what's been revealed the only character that I would remove, and possibly replace with a another highly requested character, is Lucina because she's a clone of Chrom essentially.

I don't think Lucina is a clone of Chrom (or Marth as I've seen some claim), she seems to have her own moves with a few similar ones akin to Link & Toon Link in Hyrule Warriors but likely come from different combo set-ups.

  21. 7 minutes ago, MediocreLee said:

All the characters look great.  I do have to say though, that Hinoka's English voice sounds very off.  If I remember correctly, in Fates she had a pretty husky voice, but her voice sounds like someone with a higher pitched voice is trying to be husky.  And while Camilla's voice is alright in my book, it's also a bit higher pitched too.

Hinoka's voice actress is definitely still Cindy Robinson though, I'd recognize her voice anywhere since she also voices Makoto Nanaya in Blazblue (at until they stopped doing English voices :C) and Labrys in Persona 4 Arena.

The voice actress for Camilla sounds like the same persona but doing it a bit higher pitched.

As others have noted, this is likely just another change in voice direction seeing as Takumi's VA pointed out the change between Fates and Heroes, maybe Tecmo Koei is doing voice direction for this one.

All in all though, I don't mind the voices..granted, I grew up in the 90s when actually bad voice acting was the norm (Mega Man 8 and X4 anyone?)

  22. I'm slowly but surely getting my big wants for this game, not that I'm surprised by that at all considering their popularity.

I have Lucina & f Robin from Awakening, and f Corrin, & Camilla for Fates, that just leaves either Tiki (child seems a shoe-in) and Tharja..at least for the games represented, I still hope to see Lyn, Eirika, Hector, Ike, and Roy as DLC.

Well considaring male Robin seems to be part of the team that helps the brother and sister, I assume that would be weird to have female Robin on the same side.

Honestly, Female Robin is more likely to just not be part of the story at all since it'd be weirder to have two Robins partake in it period. She's probably just an alternate skin for male Robin.
