If you're using the Avatar, I'd honestly make Lucina get Veteran and then make her get it herself. No joke, Veteran is that good in the main game. As for Sumia, it's not impossible, but largely not worth the pain to do.

no. joke. There is literally zero reason to pass on GF when Veteran is a thing. The only unit that would need GF or want it right away is Male Morgan. (he can get Veteran on his own).

Not really.  Grinding exists, Paragon exists, and getting Sumia up to 10/15 isn't as big of a deal as you're making it out to be, even on Lunatic.

Also this. It really doesnt take that long.

  2. Fiona is just....like, her potential is pretty great and i consider her the best of the Silver Knights in terms of sheer output and what she looks like at the end of my runs (compared to the others). But like...shes got this problem. And its a really big problem. By the time she joins, shes a bit low level and her bases are really bad. The maps in which she is useable are penalizing her for her mount. She doesnt have enough chapters to grow before the end of Part 1. There are ways outside of dumping BEXP (although i dont recommend that due to the only three stats at a time proc thing) on her, its still a real issue and you must go out of your way to use her and train her. Because of this, people dont find her worth it. And despite being one of my favorite characters in all of Tellius, i understand this. I dont always use her either because of the effort. She needs resources. A Secret Book early on cuz her skill stat is pants. Paragon later on to play catch up. A forge most likely, possibly an Energy Drop, etc. The pay off is ok because of her set up, but yeah its a lot of effort.

  3. Survivalist nations because i enjoy being sympathetic to the bad guy in a way, and the characters who get driven to do horrible shit because they feel they have no choice, thats interesting to me. I do like a good ol' Corrupt Political Atmosphere story though. So shoutout to Begnion.

Sorry but Final Fantasy was never my friend.

    I feel this.

Legend of Zelda : Ive been playing Zelda for 30 years and im not gonna stop playing it. Its been for the long haul. It will likely always be my number one favorite game franchise.

Fire Emblem: Well duh. I just really enjoy all the different ways to play these games.

Castlevania: While i do not follow this franchise AS loyally as the others on this list, i have been a fan since...well the NES era. I loved it even more when it went into the Metroidvania direction with SotN.

Animal Crossing: Fucken love that shit. Its so relaxing. I dont see it as a collecathon like so many others, but as a little world to escape to. I legit get attached to the villagers, and really love the decorating portions of it. The only stinker in the series, imo, was Lets Go to the City/City Folk.

Paper Mario:  This franchise is fun as hell, but lately, its been a bit of a stinker. :( but the first three installments were bomb shit and i love them to pieces. I truly hope that the games will be like that again eventually.

I'm really disappointed in the lack of impact Corrin being half-dragon had on anything. Beyond the initial transformation, it's not relevant to the plot, it's never brought up by other characters, it doesn't feature in any of Corrin's supports... it'd have been great to see people being intimidated by Corrin's dragon form, or having it affect how Corrin's siblings viewed Corrin, or having questions raised/answered ('oh, so THAT's why your ears look like that! I always thought there was something odd about you'). So much wasted potential - why even bother giving Corrin those abilities?

Yes, this makes me cross as well. Whats the point of making Corn a durgin if it does nothing for the plot? No one even really talks about it at all. So its just there to look cool i guess. I dunno. Corrin finding out they are half dragon, you'd think they would REALLY start questioning their parentage as a whole. Argle bargle.

    Y'all

Its a freaking game: Don't put too much stock into whether you do or don't.That being said, I've done so, purely for the sake of adding their support to the library.

If the whole "sibling" stance is such a concern, why marry any of the royals then? Doesn't stop peeps from wedding Leo, Xander and Takumi, now does it?

Just do you. No one's gonna penalize you for it.

fucking this. Its a game, who cares. If you care THAT much due to morals and finding it icky, dont marry those characters. I quietly apply my own morals to various things in FE (like not marrying second gen cuz...guys...im like over 30 and thats weird. And not marrying the royals in Fates.) and its enjoyable enough for me. But you are under zero obligation whatsoever to take the "wholesome" path cuz this is fiction and a video game.

Note: I did marry Camilla on my first run of the game. But it was mostly cuz my MU wasnt a self insert character and i wanted him to be a bit edgy. Gameplay wise, it was kinda cool cuz it produced a good Kana and Camilla is a bomb partner unit. (shes bomb either way). But when it came to the fluff and story, it was a disappointing match and more than a bit awkward that MU keeps calling her Sister. So i didnt repeat the process on future runs except that bullshit Revelation file where the MU married Xander for optimization purposes.

Yeah, JK Rowling's examples of Slytherin classmates was why I paused on putting Leo in there, but luckily everyone here has a far more magnanimous interpretation of the houses than some of the fans! Slytherin and Ravenclaw are my two favourite houses, and Gryffindor is my least favourite (hence why I'm still so salty over the new Pottermore site placing me in there).

I hope my assessment of Camilla wasn't seen as considering Hufflepuff to be 'the rest' house - although I admittedly placed her there by process of elimination in my post, I also think she would fit, and I think Hufflepuff is a great house! Tonks and Cedric are both Hufflepuffs, after all.

I actually do not relate at all to Gryffindor, and thats why its my least favorite. I also dont know many people who are Gryffindor. Im Slytherin according to Pottermore and countless other sorting quizzes. Ravenclaw is the other House i really relate to. (i guess if we do the whole dual House thing, im Slytherclaw.)

I feel like Camilla could be Hufflepuff because of some of her traits, but i also feel like she could be Slytherin. I think Tonks' mum (Andromeda) was also Slytherin but not at all a blood purist. Although, Camilla reminds me a bit of Narcissa Malfoy. Willing to go the extra mile for the person she loves.

I wonder what Azura would be....Ravenclaw maybe? Niles is so Slytherin, its just silly. Peri feels like shes the Homicidal Hufflepuff.

What do you mean about Parvati Patil?  We never really see her do that much.  She probably has the least amount of character development of all of Harry's Gryffindor classmates.

Yes. And Hinoka receives the least amount of effort and development out of all the sibling characters. But tell me, do you think from what we know about Parvati Patil, that she was able to see past her own shoes? And didnt come off as woefully generic? Its unfortunate that Parvati never got any sort of spotlight except going to the Ball with Harry. Its unfortunate Hinoka didnt get much of a spotlight other than looking like a Corrin obsessed ninny. Hinoka fought stuff in the name of good, but so did Parvati in the 7th book. :S

As for your other rant, Ravenclaw obviously prizes those who are willing to consider all possibilities, instead of a very narrow means of thinking. Hermione is woefully narrow minded about a great number of things. Its one of her greatest flaws. She'd get annoyed with the Ravenclaw door riddles because the door accepts all manner of possible answers. She does not belong in that House, yer right.

Hufflepuff arent just really basic and kinda middling either. That lot are some of the most non judgmental characters in the story. They also treat everyone else fairly.

Slytherin's depiction upsets me a lot. Slytherins being really self serving by default annoys me. You can be ambitious, cunning, even willing to consider options and roads less traveled, and still not be a bigoted asshole. Jo Rowling really should have included a classmate in Slytherin who wasnt a total wet shit.

  9. im wondering if part of the reason the west didnt get all that DLC and stuff, is because the game(s) didnt have the same kind of reception as Awakening? The West was pretty hard on Fates, so perhaps the devs thought maybe it wasnt worth putting out more content for it...? I dunno.

  10. BK battle is stupidly luck based. I dont even bother with it most of the time. Ill just escape and press on. Nasir and the added dialogue and stuff in the end is nice, but theres no actual reliable strat to win the BK fight. Believe me, ive tried. The only times i was able to do it, Aether procc'd more than once in the fight.

If you didnt like Laguz units much in PoR, you may not be a fan in RD. Cat gauges are the worst.

  11. Takumi struck me as a Ravenclaw tbh.

Leo is definitely Slytherin. Hes got a level of ruthlessness to him that screams Slytherin. Hes also one who attempts to work behind the scenes. (and he looks like Draco Malfoy)

    Ryoma, yeah Gryffindor. Natch.

Sakura is either Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. Leaning on Hufflepuff. Shes got one hell of a spine and 'Puffs tend to.

Camilla, Slytherin or Hufflepuff. Her compassionate and motherly nature to those she loves most is very 'Puff. But her brutality is pretty Slythy.

Xander feels like a Slytherin to me. Kinda in the vein of Snape. He prioritizes his own (be it family and/or nation) over much else. Even if it means being hated. Even if it means screwing up really bad.

Hinoka is a generic Gryffindor with quite a bit of self absorption on top of it. Cant really see past her own shoes. (think someone like Parvati Patil)

I personally don't use grinding, but I'm fine with it as an option since it enables a much wider range of play styles. It doesn't really screw anything over for players who like challenges unless you also have terrible self control, in which case you should probably go work on that. No FE actually requires any amount of grinding to beat given enough skill, so a player who wants a challenge can just ignore the grinding options, which are generally not very in your face anyway. If someone wants to play FE because they like the characters and don't particularly enjoy a challenge, and the creators saw fit to put the means for that in, then it is none of my business someone enjoys the experience in a vastly different way than I do, when the way I like FE is still perfectly doable.

Reclassing is fun as fuck and also strictly optional, especially in more recent titles where you'll have to go buy items to do it and there's at least some reflections of personality/other relations sometimes. Hell, I liked it when Shadow Dragon put it in and I see the current implementation as a reasonable compromise between the flexibility in the DS titles and having some degree of individuality represented, which I'm ok with, but man. A team of 8 Paladins was pretty glorious. As someone who tends to care about a certain subset of characters and not much about the rest, I like that it increases replayability even if you use the same characters all the time--for example, I can build Rinkah as Berserker, or Bolt Axe Chieftain, or Dread Fighter, or Wyvern--I have options for variability even if I just want to use my favorite character over and over again.

This is pretty much how i feel. However, i do grind when i want. Its not necessary to grind and reclass, but i like that i can if i want. I think the misconception is that  because its there, you must do so in order to progress. Nah, it just creates options. Its there for the same reason Jeigans and prepromotes exist.

  13. They are mostly made for collectors these days. This is why you have special hardcover editions of stuff like that. But the others are right, the information is the most accurate, plus they are super thorough. The maps, images, item tables, etc are just too useful, moreso than a text online guide.
