  1. You could've saved yourself so much manipulation by giving Ilyana wrath ;)
  2. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't work. It would be very easy to test though, just boot up a 1-4 save and drop Sothe on the tile with the hidden master seal.
  3. That was awesome, can't wait to see more!
  4. What was up with all the Laura shoving? Some of it was clearly unnecessary, I'm thinking you're trying to make her build a support with someone? And what's her long-term use going to be? 3-13 purge on Ike? I must say it is pretty entertaining to see Micaiah develop so much in a single chapter. 17 speed going into 1-6-1 on hard mode is pretty hilarious.
  5. Apologies for the double post, but I have a completely separate idea that could go a long way towards trivializing manipulations. If you find the memory address governing the RNG (100 million times easier than actually cracking the RNG formula using ROM disassembly), what you could do is over-write the RNG seed mid-enemy phase. This way, you don't have to deal with compound probabilities, so everything would be as easy to manipulate as a single outcome (ex/ a level-up, a crit, a low% dodge). In fact, if you could use this without messing up your video recording, you wouldn't need to use suspends at all. For example, if you wanted a crit followed by a perfect level-up, all you'd have to do is find a seed with 11 relatively low RNs in a row (say, values between 0 and 5) to ensure a hit, hit, crit, hp, str, mag, skl, spd, def, res, lck. That can then be re-used at will.
  6. I guess I misunderstood. You have some kind of setup that automatically resets the game on any character death (or similar undesired outcome) until it reaches the end of chapter screen, and then check the RNG seed of the successful outcome? That would actually be a pretty clever type of brute force algorithm, and a lot more tolerable given you don't even have to be playing the game, just checking up on it once every few hours (or once a day for the crazy manipulations). You should definitely PM me your setup, or at least your script. I'm a computer science graduate so I could probably help improve the code.
  7. I don't understand Camilla's hostility towards Ruadath. If I was doing an LTC and someone else was doing one at the same time, I'd want to collaborate with them, not be petty and competitive. Nobody gives a shit who is the best tactician or who gets the best results, it's just a hobby for fun. I also don't understand how anyone can bear resetting constantly for 3-4 hours a day over a week-long period. Wouldn't you get motion sickness or something from such a shocking amount of repetition? It would make a lot more sense to invest like a week to a month cracking the game's RNG script using ROM disassembly, generating as many RNs as possible into a spreadsheet, do a search for the sequence of RNs matching your requirements and manipulate the game's starting seed with the Wii's internal game clock to achieve that outcome. That way getting batshit crazy 1 in 50,000 chances would take minutes instead of days. I might actually try to do that if enough people are interested. My time is pretty limited now that I have a career but it would be an interesting programming challenge to take on.
  8. I calculated the odds of everything working out in your favor on the last enemy phase of 1-4. Ilyana crit 14/2 skl + 10 elthunder bonus - 3 boss luck = 14% chance Micaiah dodge & crit (x3) Dodge: 10x2 spd + 13 lck - 125 hit = 92 display hit, or 98.80 real hit So (1-0.9880)^3 x 100 = 0.0001728% chance (lol) Crit: (11/2 skl + 50 wrath bonus – 2 enemy luck )^3 = 15% chance Micaiah near perfect level-up (6/8 points, missing str and def) 0.4 * 0.8 * 0.4 * 0.35 * 0.8 * 0.9 = 0.032 or 3% chance Sothe crit 20/2 skl + 10 kard bonus - 2 enemy luck = 18% chance Let’s ignore the Micaiah dodge chance for the time being since we already know that you hack the enemy’s skill stat to 0. The odds of getting everything you need is then 0.01134%, which averages to 1 in every 8818 tries. Even relaxing Micaia’s level-up requirement to include only speed (35% instead of 3%), you’re still dealing with a 0.13% chance, which averages to 1 in 755 tries. Now let’s factor in the tiger’s hitrate on Micaiah. Even if you set a tiger’s skill and luck to 0, it still has 90 hit from its fang. Micaiah at neutral biorhythm has 33 avo, so the tiger still manages 57 display hit, or 63.45 true hit. Odds of dodging that 3 times in a row is (1-0.6345)^3 * 100 = 4.88%. Now compounding that with our earlier generous estimate of the combined 0.13% chance gives a ridiculous 0.006% chance, averaging 1 in 15754 tries. Obviously, if you don’t rig the tiger’s hitrate down, the odds of dodging 98.80 real hit three times in a row is astronomically low, averaging 1 in 578,703 tries. --- I would highly recommend you rename the topic something like “FE10 HM Proof of Concept LTC” or something similar because you wouldn’t even see these type of outcomes in a TAS. Well, technically you could spend hours doing frame perfect path tracing to get the 1 in 44 million outcome you want, although I suspect it’s possible that there doesn’t even exist an RNG seed that produces such an outcome. In addition, FE10’s RNG isn’t affected by path tracing, so you’d have to rely on the Wii’s internal game clock somehow. I’m curious if you perhaps hacked other things in the game, such as the hit and crit rate of weapons and the growth rate of your units. I know you’re not resetting 15,000+ times to pull off a single enemy phase, and this would be trivial to pull off if you did things like giving Ilyana’s thunder tome 255 crit and the tigers’ fangs 0 hit. With all that being said, I am fully in support of this run because it’s cool to see the game pushed to its limits. I just hope you restrain from gloating about your turn counts or tactician skills as others have claimed in this topic (I only skimmed through because lol20pages) since what you’re doing is almost literally impossible without hacking.
  9. I'd be willing to give this a try using tools assistance. P.S. I've been working on a heavily improved RNG lua script behind the scenes. It would make LTC shenanigans dramatically easier to pull off. If you're interested, I can PM you a link to the github repository.
  10. That has almost everything to do with the time of day. On day 1 the runs past 2 am were averaging around 70k viewers.
  11. Another thing is that viewer count isn't even accurate after a stream goes back online, takes a while for the true count to show.
  12. That run was absolutely legendary, and I was especially pleased with the sensational commentary. Thank you so much Gwimpage for running this game at AGDQ and pulling off such a perfected performance.
  13. Yeah, this is basically your last opportunity to donate to the bid war, so get those donations in ;)
  14. It really depends on if he gets transfers, master crown and/or 1-E speedwing (all of which give +2 spd). You can do all of that in a speedrun but maybe only the crown in a regular efficient playthrough.
  15. It's painful to see all this Tauroneo hate. Who cares if he has low availability? You could say the same about laguz royals and yet nobody considers them bad units. Same goes for Geoffrey, who is completely useless in part 4 but MVP by a mile in the two maps he's in (2-3 and 3-9). In 1-6-1, Tauroneo's the only character who can carry Micaiah (who is a liability with all the javelin peg reinforcements) without really sacrificing his combat. If you had Zihark or Volug carry her instead, their lack of doubling would matter more since they don't leave armors with like 5 hp after one hit, and more importantly lose a ton of avo, which actually matters because unlike Tauroneo, they aren't invincible. More importantly Tauroneo one-rounds everything in the map with a JAVELIN. Even Sothe with forged knives can't claim this. If you're playing for efficiency but not LTC, having Jill rescue-drop Tauroneo in the top-left corner of the map is a really reliable and elegant way to handle the map. In 1-6-2, Tauroneo is the only person who can reliably kill the boss in 2 turns. Even if you pour all your resources + master crown onto Jill, she still risks dying on normal mode with the 2 turn kill. In 3-12, putting Tauroneo on the ledge with a hand axe means HALF THE ENEMIES DIE IN 1 TURN. At best Jill gets the other half of the kills, which is putting Tauroneo in very good company. What frustrates me the most is you're all acting like Tauroneo is dead weight in part 4, even though he's perfectly fine in 4-2 and 4-5. In 4-2 he can handle the south path basically on his own, which is really key if the quality units in each army are spread really thin. The first 3 enemies are generals, which he can easily hammertime. Then conservatively assuming he's only third tier level 1 going into the chapter, he's only 2 speed short of doubling every non-SM enemy in the map, which is a mere 2-4 levels away. I just checked a video and a level 4 Tanith gained 46 exp on the first general kill in 4-2, so Tauroneo could easily get that many level-ups handling not even half the southern enemies, even faster if you want to give him one of the 3 paragons for some reason. More importantly, it doesn't even matter if he doesn't double because he 2HKOes cleanly with a forged hand axe, has no trouble surviving, and can use either a brave axe or brave lance to 1RKO anyway. In short, he's a very low-maintenance clean-up option for the southern portion of the map. I know someone mentioned that his def is lacking. Maybe if you compare him to Gatrie or Haar you'd have a point, but what matters is how he compares to the enemies. At third tier level 1 he has 45 hp, 26 def and 89 avo before supports. Hitrates range from 130-140ish (40-50 display) and attack ranges from 34-40 mt (8-14 damage). This means on any given turn he can fight at least 4 enemies without even facing a chance of death, which is really damn good, especially for a unit with a 45% def growth who's levelling so quickly. I didn't even mention resolve either, which basically makes him invincible through godly avoid (15-25 display hit = 4.65-12.75 real) if you choose to keep it on him. Might not be a bad idea either if you're going for a luna proc on Ike in 3-13. In 4-5, assuming a third tier level 6 Tauroneo, he has 48 atk with a silver poleax, enough to do up to 60% damage to cats and 80% damage to tigers. That's incredible considering how durable these laguz units are. Durability-wise, he has 48 hp, 28 def and 95 avo. Cats deal a pitiful 6 damage (8HKO) while tigers deal 18-21 (3HKO), both at around 50-60 display hit. Getting 3HKOed by tigers might sound bad but based on the map's enemy density, there's really no reason he should be facing that many enemies in a single turn. Obviously he isn't godly like Tibarn or anything, but that by no means makes him awful. I would easily put him in my top 10 units, both in casual and speedrun & LTC settings. I think the reason people generally underrate Tauroneo is they avoid using him (bias against pre-promotes), overrate the importance of availability and place too much importance on units being absolutely dominant (if you don't 1RKO the whole map with high move while being invincible like Haar or Tibarn, you're useless huehue). Edit: I will admit to a certain bias in that Tauroneo's usefulness is inflated in a speedrun since being a low maintenance unit counts for a lot more in such a setting (ie don't lose tons of time levelling up some random quality unit like transfer Boyd). Just wanted to present a different perspective to what was being offered in this thread.
  16. This topic fails for not mentioning Devdan solos. I wonder if a Devdan solo has even been done by anyone on Earth. I would do it but then map animations make me froth with rage. Btw I agree with everything you said Mekkah
  17. The estimates are usually generous to account for worst-case scenarios, as a no-reset run for a seasoned Radiant Dawn runner takes at most 2 hours and 50 minutes. There aren't any glitches used in either POR or RD.
  18. Actually, Radiant Dawn has been ahead in the bid war throughout, sometimes as much as double the Path Of Radiance bids. You can keep track of the bid war here. At the moment Radiant Dawn has raised 1,193.33$ compared to $792.61 for Path of Radiance. Keep in mind that Gwimpage himself vastly prefers Radiant Dawn and in fact only offered the bid war with Path of Radiance to increase the odds of a Fire Emblem game getting into AGDQ at all. The same goes for me and Kirbymastah, which basically covers every speedrunner of the Tellius games. I've offered a brief summary of why I prefer Radiant Dawn, the main reason being the lack of map animations makes the pace of RD literally twice as fast. Of course, you're free to judge for yourself what you'd like to see at the event, so here's a link to the best recorded single-segment runs of each game. I'd recommend you watch at least a small sample of each run before making a decision. Radiant Dawn in 2:42:28
  19. Using transfers, new cursor techniques and better strategies, we've been able to cut down another 10 minutes from Radiant Dawn easy mode single segment. The new time to beat is 2:42:28, with sub 2:42 within reach. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvcbJG-Hd5o Hope you enjoy, as this is my last serious run of this particular category. I'm moving onto normal mode single segment planning at the moment ( ).
  20. Don't be afraid to use pre-promotes since with very few exceptions (Sanaki, Sigrun, couple others), they are superior to units who require more leveling due to having much higher growth rates than they really should. Build up some key earth x earth supports in part 1. You can't go wrong with a Zihark x Nolan/Volug/Jill pairing. Do NOT miss beastfoe in 1-4. Forging 1-2 range weapons is pretty broken. In part 1 this means forged knives for Sothe, otherwise it's forged javelin/hand axe parade for parts 3 & 4. Avoid using paladins (except Titania) and magic users for combat (except Elincia). Have Reyson use most of your laguz stones when you recruit him. Getting 4-way vigor from turn 2 onwards is a huge boon. In 1-E, give Ilyana brave sword, hammer, celerity, savior and a couple other useful items (probably a gem or two). Give Haar celerity + savior for pretty much the entire game, sometimes switching celerity with pass. Don't worry too much about part 4 since each route has its fair share of safety buttons: Micaiah has Naesala & Skrimir, Ike has himself & Nailah, and Tibarn has himself & Elincia. Then in 4-E you have all the royals. Resolve is h4x.
  21. Yeah, FE4 speedrunning is basically zzzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzz.
  22. I've noticed in your past 3 videos that you seem to get an unusually high amount of crits. Any particular reason for that? Supports, +crit forges? Also, if you were to redo this run, would you be able to work out a funds situation that isn't quite so tight?
  23. That was a great Lifesphere + Starsphere trade chain you had going there in C20. Also had no idea Linde was so OP with a levin sword. Sounds like you're really tight on funds but with the silver card, the extra energy drop for Marth will only cost 1250g, which is easily affordable by selling iron & steel weapons. Why do you need such an expensive dragonpike forge anyway?
  24. What about buying the stat boosters in the secret shop of C21? You can buy 3 energy drops, just devote one to Marth. Not sure if you can reach that secret shop in LTC settings though.
  25. I must admit I was amused when an attacker dropped the starsphere, only for Marth to retrieve it from the convoy same turn.
