  1. Thanks. Since your country of origin isn't listed I'm curious to know your nationality. I was actually surprised there is also an Australian and British edition.
  2. Hi Kon, If you want a more specific answer, I read a lot of non-fiction books that average about 300-400 pages. Since you decided to ask my question in detail I think it's only fair that I answer you back. Where I live it's very wet but there's also lots of parks, trails and other amazing things. Since it rains so frequently, I can't pinpoint an exact number but let's just say 50% of the time. I probably should have mentioned this in nickname thread but I actually enjoy running and where I live I have to accept the risk of downpour(lots of times it is not so bad). I probably should have clarified this in my op if you have not battled me yet but first got the idea of using rain effects cause Pokemon like Ludicolo get double speed through an ability called swift swim. I also did not mention the swift swimmers because I like they're names and I want other guys to take advantage of the rain for the sake of balance. I hope this was a sufficient answer.
  3. ^Thank you. This is also the only time where I feel I had to use to a Glovers and Boots video to get educated/explain something to myself and tothers. If you're confused it's only 5 minutes long, mentions people and movements in the past and it might be funny to watch as well.
  4. I really don't want to turn this into a political debate, but please just please don't turn this into a politics debate, that sesame street style youtube video was the broadest and simplest explanation I could find on the internet because there is no Universal term for hipster. Please keep in mind that I'm trying to be as discreet and explicit about myself as possible without giving away too much information. Also keep in mind that the bulk of the reading I do(I'd say 80-90%) is non-fiction regardless if it's on the internet or not. My only proper fun time is when I am playing games, spending time with friends or watching something on tv or the internet. If you started reading on the second page, keep in mind that I am the Op. I keep mentioning rain because it is so frequent based on where I live. My battle style is inspired by my social upbringing and evolution(or development) as a person which is different for a lot of people.
  5. Please just watch the youtube video, the term hipster is very difficult to perform a proper search on when using the internet. Also, the proper term for hipster should be counter-culture, as this is the definition of any movement that applies to a certain time. . Every culture is different so some arguments and word choices cant always work. Also I am the OP of this thread and my team is based on weather effects, I have a question for people familiar with the serious business memes, I saw a picture of Mr. Bean( a goofy character you should never underestimate) solely because of this ability. This is the perfect description for my battle style. I really don't how to do a proper word search for this meme, but I would love to bookmark that picture on my computer.
  6. Thank you for bringing this up. There's a motto that a Canadian says sorry to seem polite. Well if you're from Vancouver you have be to extra extra careful when talking things about things. Having watched this video I think(recently) it really demonstrates the reason why children should read history when they are children, not adults. How many people hear (please just 1 repy for this question, not the whole point) without looking at the internet can name a single philospher, religious founder, nation builder and inventor who was self-educated(doesn't mean that they did not go to school but they came up with the idea by himself?
  7. Overall I think it's in the dead centre with a few exceptions. One reason I prefer this series so much over other Srpgs like Final Fantasy Tactics is that enemies don't take as many as hits to kill. It makes winning battles a lot clearer and it makes victories more visually appealing. A much larger reason why I prefer this series over games like Final Fantasy Tactics is that isometric maps while cool to look at can slow down your ability to think critically and sometimes become obstacles in the planning process. There have been way too many instances where I tried to walk up to a character I wanted to attack and was like 1-2 spots away, turn ends(based on speed rather than your whole party) and my guy gets beat up instead. Has anyone who has played the tactics games like this feature? I think it's good on paper but it's not always clear who's always faster than whom. If more mainstream Japanese strategy rpgs had a "flat" grid map like Fire Emblem and Shining Force I would play more of them. I just think these two franchises share a lot more aspects with western strategy games than. I had a blast playing X-com a fun months ago, they're both really fun strategy games but they both share a common principle in common. Be as colorful and creative as you like, but make the layout clear. I understand there might be a drive to be unique or add flare to a game in different parts of the world, but if I have difficulty traveling through a map in even the most basic levels, I might not even bother with the harder levels. I don't dislike games like final fantasy tactics but I'd prefer to play strategy games where I know I can clearly reach points A to B most of the time. On a smaller sidenote you get a menu before you decide to attack. I don't play on the really high difficulty settings but if the Civilization series had this feature I would never send my tank against an archer or spearman(it's only funny the first time).
  8. Oh Okay I get it now. Thanks for providing the extra clarity.
  9. is it possible for friends to watch the battle on their home computer if I have the exclusive code? This is the more important question I have. I've already watched it on my vs recorder. I already remember the battle in vivid detail. My friends who are interested in X/Y, old and new aren't aware of how much hidden potential the combat system has if you can just find the right Pokemon opponent. Probably should have mentioned this sooner, but I was hoping to mention Fire Emblem in the facebook title to grab people's attention? It is a 20 plus turn battle.
  10. by code do you mean friend codes? Or is it a individual code you see inside the vs recorder? I'm trying to break down my questions as best as possible. Yesterday was a frustrating day for me. I wanted to upload this specific battle yesterday but I had the global-link issue(Canadian card, American assumption). This was further compound by a couple "friends" on facebook spamming dumb gennwunner comments including,"use blastoise mang," which is so irritating and ironic cause I am using(but I taught mine aqua jet).
  11. Okay. I already recorded the video on vs recorder and the person I battled is on my buddy list also so I hope the next part should be easier. where do you go to search for the battle and then share it. I'm not sure where to go. Yesterday I mentioned that I was confused about the global link because I mentioned that I have a Canadian game but the global link assumed (I don't know if it's my fault or the system's) that I was American. I'm really eager to share and upload a battle that I'm sure you guys would like to watch and my friends as well. I've talked about weather a lot in other threads and after several experiments I think rotation is the best battle system for me since it feels more balanced. When I try to explain this concept to my friends some sort of get it while others don't. I was in this really long battle against a friend on another forum who used a trick room boosting team(which is a trump/trap card) against my rain boosting team. On paper that sounds balanced and on execution it is also balanced. I'm sure you guys reading this will be surprised how long it goes on for and so will my friends. Once this help is provided I will make sure to bookmark how to share battles in the future. I want to share this one first because I enjoyed it the most.
  12. Could somebody give me a step by step way how to record battles. I'm a little confused about the global Link system. Plus I had to ask you guys for help earlier today on how to get my gamecard setting matched with region.
  13. You'd be put to death by firing squad or sent to the gulags if you bring up one single flaw with Thracia 776.
  14. I know my opponents name if that helps. It's a really long and awesome fight. Did anyone record a fight against me, preferably a close fight? I'd like to watch and show it to friends asap. I wanted to get friends codes from people I know Irl started but my first person who responded to my request made a dumb comment and now the whole post/potential fc exchange was ruined.
  15. I'm curious to know what everone's longest video is? I had a rotation one that lasted close to 20 minutes (32) turns. It was my all rain rotation team vs a all trick room team. I lost in the end but I tried very hard to set up buffs with my bulky types. Could somebody please give me the link to the page where I can watch battle videos , there's a lot of global links I have to remember. If it's in my vs recorder(its a keeper) can it be watched faster.
  16. Thanks for the help Richard. How long does it typically take to be load most videos. i ask because I really wanted my Greninja/male(spy-ninja/ninj spy) female name question answered on Facebook but one of my first comments was "use blastoise mang" so my creative name idea got thrown down the toilet cause I actually am using Blastoise in battle :(. I'm so annoyed that I am going to ban/block for a month if he even tries to delete him if he even attempts to delete.
  17. Glad you get the reference. Does the game have enough characters for a character/space!
  18. Where do I go on the registration site to edit my profile. My game is Canadian but the website thinks I'm American. This is really confusing and frustrating me.
  19. I want to start watching battle videos cause I think I have played enough but I may have made mistake on the registration. Actually I'm not sure if I'm at fault or the site is. The registration assumes I'm American, but my 3DS and email account are Canadian. Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't know how to phrase this I wonder if some European players know how to fix this since you guys are visting an English website afteall.
  20. Could use some help here with uploading videos. Since I'm from North America whenever I tap into the global link, by default the site keeps assuming I am American even though I am Canadian. How can I edit my profile on the site so it recognizes my proper nationality. This is really tedious because I have to type global link Canada to enter registration which makes for clunky navigation. I really want to start sharing videos but I can't if one part of registration assumes I am American and the other Canadian (my real nationality and location of 3DS).
  21. Could somebody please tell me how to share PR video battles. Some people keep spamming my facebook and I think this might help.
  22. is it possible to share Pokemon battles with friends If I know who my opponent was and I kept the battle in vs recorder? If so I'd like to know how to post it in facebook.
  23. Hi Carter, there is a fix for that if you have pokemon. http://kotaku.com/most-players-will-never-know-about-the-best-change-in-p-1452781951 This should really be posted in the OP.
  24. The game has been out for almost two almost weeks and I'm sure a lot of us have been exposed to enough Pokemon old and new to give your critters unique names. For any Pokemon players confused by my board name the "osa" at the end of my name is just a suffix(it doesn't mean I speak fluent spanish), which is also the same linguistic approach to create Pokemon names.I thought going with osa was more creative than adding a bunch of underscores and xs next to my name. In games like Pokemon, Zelda, or rpgs where you can name yourself I just name myself Greg*something. I thought it would be a cool idea to hear what names you're giving your Pokemon. Some might be obvious others might be more subtle and involve local/cultural references. I'd like to hear everyone's six core team members (if you want to go that high). Maybe it will say something about you or even your battle style. 1. Nickelback: What I plan to name my Bibarel. Most people reading this will think of a certain band that's the antichrist of hipsters. In actuality the nickel is what's on the Canadian nickel. 2. Lord Slug: Obvious one it's Goodra. Not my fave Dragonball Z villain but the name seemed appropriate. 3. Prank Patrol: Klefki's ability. Also a reference to a bad tv show in my country where you wait for the buildup of prank that turns out undewhelming. 4. Vancouver: Politoed. If you've ever been to this city, Seattle or Portland, you should know it rains a lot. Ironically if you actually live in the west coast a large share of the population hates the rain, but continues to live there which I find odd from a climate science perspective because many animals go extinct if they can adjust to changes or climate. If people had that attitude but as a different species they'd go extinct pretty fast. 5. Conky: Conkledurr. It's the name of the dummy you can see in my avatar if you look closely. If you play competitively you know conkledurr is both powerful and a bit silly looking, but holy smokes does he pack a punch if you're not careful. 6. Spy-ninja or Ninja-Spy: I put the last one in brackets cause I wanted to make a tacky poll. If you've played with me or talked to me lately. I am having a lot of fun with Greninja. I got this idea from a movie a few years back called ninja-assassin. I thought the name was silly cause being an assassin is kinda a ninja's job. I want to know which name is best based on gender. I was hoping to ask my IRL friends this question but where I live generic hipster comments like "use blastoise mang" or "does the gameboy pocket connect to the 3ds". Those are two actual quotes btw.I'm not sure what's a good cut-off. I like using Pokemon from all gens but I honestly I find the idea of a frog that's a ninja more creative than a big turtle with a few guns on its body. Plus its battle style reminds a lot of Edge from Final Fantasy IV. If you read through all this I like to use goofy ones who are deadly but deceiving hence the Gregnofool part of my name. I'd also really like to know how my ingame name translates when read in a different language. In English it looks silly cause I didn't even use a character/space to spell out my name. I also appreciate being able to battle online. If this series didn't have an online multiplayer feature where I'm from all I'd see are gen 1 starters and Mewtwos.
  25. Just to speed up trading with me. My top two priorirty pokemon is the drizzle poliwag, and iron fist conkledurr since I want to train them ASAP. Everything else I might want or need takes lesser priorirty or is obtainable ingame.
