  1. I would be in favor of branched promotion, since I've already stated that third tiers wouldn't work to well. Even Shadow Dragon, which was rather barebones as a remake, had multiple difficulties, so I expect them to be here too. On the topic of warp, instead of being able to warp anywhere, witches could instead cover their normal movement range by warping. This would allow them to move unhindered by terrain (I got this idea from Stella Glow's Hilda).
  2. I really like that archer design. With that in mind, the complicated designs in Fates seem even more garish than before. I already liked the new artstyle before, but the archer model really clicks with me for some reason. It actually looks like what a medieval archer would wear in battle, unlike what the previous two games did.
  3. Considering how terrible Konami has turned out lately, I'll be rather pessimistic about this.
  4. Sounds interesting. What exactly is this "Corruption"? Also, is the snake king literally a snake or is it just a title?
  5. There doesn't seem to be place reserved for skills on the stat screen. Does that mean skills won't be in the game? Also note there's no strength/magic, only attack. Meaning both will be covered by the same stat, just like in Gaiden. The four symbols underneath the stats intrigue me a bit. The magnefying glass probably shows a closeup of the battle animations with stats, like tipping on the character portrait in Awakening/Fates. The Cursor will probably show the minimap, and since the bars are highlighted,it's probably to summon the stat screen, which is currently shown. But what is the fourth symbol? It looks like a sheet of paper with something written on it, so it could be a recap of the story so far, or a reminder for possible map gimmicks.
  6. Well, there are multiple threads with Act 3 in the title and about different groups, so I wanted to make shure what was meant.
  7. A Light Mage... I'v got an idea for that. My original character idea doesn't fit, because being a fire mage is part of her backstory, and the whole glass cannon thing would also have been part of that I need to flesh my new char out a bit more first. The original idea is something that has been in my head for some time now, but what I'm going to play is brand new for me.
  8. So, I'm interested in joining this RP, seeing that you currently accept new players, and after skimming the opening post and the characters, I have a few questions: 1. Should I read the entire story so far or is it enough if someone provides me with a summary? It's four threads, and I can be a bit of a slow reader. 2. Which players/characters are active? If you are accepting newcomers, some of the older players probably left. It would also be useful if the opening post contained links to the character profiles. 3. Following from 2, which roles are free to be filled? 4. From a gameplay standpoint, how's the active group built in terms of classes and such? My first choice for a character would a glass-cannon type of mage, but if the group already has someone like that or needs something else, like a tank or a healer, I can adapt. I would rather have a distinct role in battles than filling the same niche as others already do.
  9. Haven't seen that movie in ages. My clearest memory of it is that it went way over my head when I was a kid and I had no idea what was going on. I was actually thinking of something like Avatar: The Last Airbender.
  10. Come to think of it, there are unused animations of her using the Durandal, and in Binding Blade, Eliwood (unlockable for trial maps) had an S Rank in lances and only A in swords. Maybe he was originally supposed to be a lance wielder, to complete the weapon triangle with Hector and Lyn, and he would have gotten Maltet for the last battle. Anyways, back to the topic: I had an idea for a lord who's some kind of mage, and the apprentice of a great sage. They are unrelated to the continent's political situation, but the various faction want them to pick a side, because that sage - and his student - are seen as important by the people of the world, and are said to hold important secrets. He/she wants to find a way to not become a pawn of one of the nations who want to use their abilities as a weapon.
  11. The Black Knight would be an obvious candidate for the Lu Bu-stand in. After all, both are known for being crazy strong foes you should stay away from.
  12. I would prefer Anna to appear as an NPC. Having the series mascot as a playable unit always seemed weird to me. Awakening got away with it because it was supposed to be a send-off to the then dying series, but having her return in Fates, especially as DLC, just doesn't fit anymore. She's almost always been a more hidden character, appearing mostly in secret shops, optional modes, or hidden scenes, having her out in the open as a soldier feels off. Speaking of secret shops, I think Anna should be taking the role of the trader that lets you exchange items between the two armies.
  13. I would like to see a morally ambigious protagonist who's not a noble, and cares more about the wellbeing their group and themselves than about who's good or evil in this war. They could for example be a mercenary leader who ends up joining the invading army, because it's better for the gang than fighting against it. Eventually, they grow a consience regarding people they're not on first-name basis with discounting the fact that only about five people in the entire series have last names and only start rebelling against the evil empire when they realize that, while quislings like them are going to benefit from the empire's new world order, the rest of the world is left to pick up the scraps. By then, they will have trouble gaining the trust of the good guys after fighting against them for so long.

    Waifus

I would define the term Waifu (and the male counterpart, husbando) as a character that you genuinely like, but the fondness is greatly exaggerated in a tongue-in-cheek-manner Awakening and Fates have become known as Waifu Simulators becaue they both have self-insert characters that can take every potential waifu/husbando as their actual wife/husband.
  15. I would prefer to keep the worlds seperate. At most make some cryptic background references that imply that the story of one game exists as an old folktale in the other, and have series staples like the weapon names and such be the same. Explicit crossovers between different verses should be kept strictly non-canon, either as dlc or a spin-off game (like FE Warriors) that exist for the coolness factor: "I wonder how the new casts faces off against their predecessors!"
  16. Granted! But the stat inflation in the series continues at a Weimar Republic-like pace, so a boost of four is worse than an generic curate's Level Up. I wish that Netflix made an adaptation of the Skulduggery Pleasant novels.
  17. This is some speculation based on the character's endings in Gaiden, so I will put it into a spoiler just to be sure:
  18. I'll get Kyubey to grant that wish for you... I wish for the Elibe games to be remade.
  19. I would interpret it as a literal promotion: Because a soldier performs so well (reaching Level 10 or higher), they are given a new rank and a fancier uniform, with the promotion item being a medal signifying this higher rank. Having gained such recognition from their superiors, the soldier is motivated to give even more in battle (stat boosts) and broaden their abilities and knowledge (new weapon ranks/skills).
  20. Things I would like to see: Bringing back light magic and bringing back all the disappeared dark spells. I also like the idea of light giving buffs while dark causes debuffs. But don't split up anima in three different elements. I like the concept of maid/butler: An offensive support class that focuses on debuffs and healing. But I find the notion of household servants on the battlefield a little ridiculous. They could reimagined as the Medic class, which also uses Daggers and Staves and does actually fit into a war. Spear Fighters should stay, and Soldiers should return. Similar to Myrmidons and Mercenaries, the former is a speedster while the latter is more balanced. Knights are seperated into Sword Knights, Lance Knights and Axe Knights. Generals get to choose one additional weapon upon promotion, Great Knights gain all three weapon types. Cavaliers are also seperated into weapon-based subclasses. The glorious return of Pirates/Brigands Also, some ideas I had regarding the skill system and class changing, since this is being discussed here too: Class Skills are tied to their class and replaced upon class change. For example, if Billy the Outlaw switches to Mercenary, he looses Locktouch, but gains Strong Riposte. Personal Skills and skills learned from scrolls are not affected by class changes. A capacity meter like in the Tellius games determines how many skills a unit can have. If a unit has strong, expensive class skills, it might have to unequip one of them to use a scroll skill. Every class has one class skill, and a second one is gained upon promotion. Going back to our example, Billy promoted too Adventurer and now possesses Locktouch and Pass. If he switches to Hero, these skills will be changed to Strong Riposte and Sol. Branched promotions exist, but only one branch can be chosen. The other can not be reclassed into, except if it is a possible promotion for the units other class tree. Billy the Adventurer uses a Heart Seal and can now choose between Hero and Bow Knight. Had he directly promoted from Outlaw to Bow Knight, his only reclass choice would be Hero. However, overlapping promotions are only tied to one of the two original class trees. If Billy switches to Bow Knight now, Locktouch will be replaced by Strong Riposte, because the Bow Knight is now tied to his mercenary class. In total, every unit can have up to four skills: One Personal Skill, two Class Skills, and one skill learned through a scroll. Also, the main class and one alternate class are all a unit gets. No new classes through S/A+ supports, no inheritance (the latter because no f***ing second gen again goddammit)
  21. One thought that I had today: If you play Classic, let a unit die, and switch to casual afterwards, will that unit be revived or will it stay dead? Just curious.
  22. I don't want third tiers. The main reason they were in RD was so the returning characters could start promoted (to contrast the inexperienced BD members), but still have the usual 30-40 levels to gain. Also, most of Gaidens third tiers became new classes in other games. The Dread Fighter became an unrelated melee class, the Soldier seperated from Knight (Turning the latter into a first tier and the Baron/General into a second tier), Bow Knight became an alternative to Sniper instead of it's next tier. The only class that returned as a third tier was Gold Knight. And if third tiers do return, I hope mastery skills won't be a thing (or at least, much more limited). Giving everyone a chance-based supermove is overpowered and quickly becomes boring, because anyone could suddenly unleash a nuke. Overall, I feel that most third tiers have a "the same but more" feeling to them. The one that truly averts this are Snipers (Getting a horse in Gaiden and additional range in RD), but the first option became an alternate second tier in later games and more range is redundant when it comes to Gaiden (presuming bows keep their huge range in Echoes), so they couldn't gain anything interesting either.
  23. According to Google Translate, the writing above the bars means "fast stock" or "early stock". Maybe it could be related to the Food Option in the menu?
