  1. Sumia is good for flying Chrom around. But the options of Sumia other than Chrom himself are just really bad overall... Gaius is as frail as a piece of paper and Frederick is not very good for long term, though he does help Sumia's growth a lot with his powerful defense. And Henry comes in way too late. The game is definitely rigged to make you pair Chrom with Sumia, which is quite annoying.
  2. It's in the best interests of the US to support Europe though, since Western Europe has been historically a shield against Russian influence. Now, please don't feel offended by what I'm saying, but I feel libertarianism is one of the most bizarre political stances that exist nowadays. It denies at least 500 years of political development. In political science terms, it's almost like trying to pass geocentrism as a valid scientific thesis today.
  3. Yeah, there's also that. In my country's case it has even become a pension fund for politicians, haha.
  4. I actually don't know about the specifics of Planned Parenthood so I can't really comment on it. Sorry! Though, to be fair, usually abortion is granted by public healthcare when legalized. I have no idea how it works in the American states where it's legal. I don't really understand why it would be a part of Planned Parenthood, though, since abortion is not birth control and should not be used as such except for emergencies.
  5. Ana, you've improved a lot over the years, great work!
  6. Being out there is a great help, but internet can work if you can find someone that lives close to you. Drinking gives you a little push, but I don't recommend doing it if you have anything resembling a stomach problem, or you'll wake up the next day feeling as if there was fire coming from your throat. There's a lot of crazy and wonderful stuff out there, though, so if you don't overdo it, there's no problem. :D Nevertheless, if you're too shy, fear not, for the internet is a great help! I know of quite a few people who first met online.
  7. One of the most awesomest periods in the history of mankind, Pokémon was everywhere, it was the coolest thing and I loved it, I ran through batteries in my GBC faster than anyone due to how much I played. You ask of competitive, well here was GSbot, which was a mIRC-based thingie where all the pros were, and there was Netbattle, the precursor to Showdown, a much more refined app but also more n00b-friendly so you'd often see people using Mewtwos and Lugias and whatnot. Netbattle had its own forum. But really, the scene was cooler than today in its own way, Pokémon websites were numerous and each specialized in its own thing, the odd one still exists today but most have vanished. I used to be a lurker at Gengar and Haunter's Pokémon Dungeon, which had the (self-proclaimed) best online Pokédex, nowadays all those websites are unnecessary since Bulbapedia exists as the main source of information and Smogon has its own calculator. There were no (official) tiers, and people simply weren't ban happy, otherwise Snorlax would've been banned in GSC as it was the main offensive force and it was very difficult to take down. Generally, bans were agreed on a match to match basis, as you could put a message in your Netbattle profile so others would know you didn't want to play Ubers, for example. However, Netbattle did have plenty of settings that would make their way into Showdown, such as OHKO bans (which were created by the community, not by Nintendo) and the standardization of sleep/freeze clause in 6vs6 (the rule was originally intended for 3vs3 only). Matches took longer and were more "chess-like" because there weren't things like Choice Bands so it was much more difficult to punch through walls and stuff. People tried all sorts of things, like Baton Passing boosts to Tyranitar and Marowak, but ultimately the defensive Pokémon were the best ones. The metagame certainly wasn't very developed, but how could it be? There was no central "authority" on it and the game simply wasn't very complex. The reason competitive took off after 3rd gen was only because Gamefreak made the game more suited to it, with the advent of EVs and new items.
  8. I don't think they'll ever get remade, but I hope they are, so the Hoenn fans can witness the true epicness of Sinnoh unbound by the limitations of the DS compared to Hoenn, haha. :D
  9. The protagonists need to have it, the others, not so much. Development is a fact of life, it's difficult to make good characters without developing them in some way.
  10. Our purpose as species is the purpose of any species: to proliferate as much as we can. Unfortunately for the planet, we have reached a point where we're becoming too much for it. :D
  11. I'll be very clear and people may not like what I have to say, but I find it necessary to do it. I think these subjects aren't as closely related as people think. They both deal with life, but they're not really the same thing. I don't find the conservative take on it hypocritical, because their opposition to abortion does show the conservatives value life, to an extent. The thing is that a foetus being gestated is simply something different from a grown up person who's in the death row. The foetus does not have any flaws of character whatsoever, because it's not yet born, while criminals are considered "broken beyond repair", which is why people support death penalty. I'm in support of legalizing abortion and banning the death penalty. But, especially in the case of abortion, this will not come without negative consequences of its own. The experience of countries with legalized abortion is good, and sometimes abortions drop in number. But a woman has numerous reasons to abort a foetus. Accidental pregnancy is just one of them, but what about the women who abort because the foetus has some sort of non-lethal malformation or a condition like Down's Syndrome? A woman who aborts a foetus in such conditions is not a terrible person, but it's not exactly a "good" thing either. If anything, it's a bit selfish, even, almost on the level of people choosing pets over children these days because pets are much easier to take care of. It's part of the world's "sanitization", so to speak. The absolute removal of risks and obstacles. That being said, as a male, I fully support the legalization of abortion knowing of all these things, I just don't share the enthusiasm because in the end it's just a matter of the good things (freedom) supplanting the bad. The death penalty thing is problematic by itself because you simply can't tell the victim of a crime (or their relatives in the case of a deceases victim) that it's "wrong" for them to wish ill upon the criminal. That's simply not how we function as people. However, vengeance should not be a part of the criminal system, because the entity responsible for punishment is the state, not the victim. As a citizen living under a democratic state, you relinquish certain liberties in the name of order. Can you imagine what would happen if everyone sought revenge after being victim to a crime? It would be pure chaos, that's for sure. Death penalty exists to intimidate, but it doesn't really work because people keep taking the risks. There are countries where drug dealing is punished with death, and this doesn't stop people from doing it anyway. If it doesn't work, why should the state keep doing something that's bad for PR nowadays when it could perhaps try to give a criminal a second chance? In the end, I do have my stance on it but I don't think it's particularly easy to choose one over the other.
  12. It's neither good nor bad, it just happens, whether it's due to colonization or simply an attempt to make communication less difficult. German as we know it today for example wasn't even a thing before Luther translated the Bible to German. The German populations spoke in countless dialects (some persisting to this day) and Luther's Bible translation helped unite people by language. It's not progress, nor is it bad, it's just change. It cannot be considered progress because I consider English (which is the dominant language today) not as efficient as some of the other major languages (including my own primary language) and even minor ones. Progress implies replacing something with something better. I remember reading that some indigenous languages are far more precise when communicating things related to nature than the languages of the major European colonizers. On the other hand, the European languages were more suited to the world they wanted to create and expand. It's all a matter of perspective.
  13. The UN is shit anyway, it's just a glorified League of Nations. Women in Rome could theoretically not be subject to anyone, they could be autonomous but they couldn't be head of a family (pater familias). It was rare, though. Possibility of existing queens means nothing, historic queens led countries due to lack of alternative, most dinasties did absolutely everything they could to pass the crown down to a male. Since nobility is based on blood, women were really the last resort to preserve the lineage. Even in fiction like Game of Thrones the rule is observed, Daenerys Targaeryen for example was last in succession and wed to Khal Drogo like a mule for the remaining Targaeryens to acquire command over his army, but Rhaegar was dead and Viserys was a weak clown, so the "right" to the throne was passed down to Daenerys after Drogo killed Viserys (and even then, I believe Drogo would be the one to sit in the Iron Throne...). What really matters are the civil rights among the peasantry, and even in absolute monarchies led by queens the women really had it rough. There was also no such thing as "LGBT rights" in the Ancient World because there wasn't yet a concept of homosexuality as "identity". Men who subjected themselves to pederasty in Athens would go on to marry women and form families. Transexuality was also not known of course.
  14. I like Lillie but unfortunately she's too young, so I have to settle for the grown up version Lusamine, who is actually also an interesting character herself but is probably mentally broken beyond repair.
  15. People fight vaccination because they don't know what it is and because of conspiracy, it's always been like that, sadly lately the anti-vax camp has developed hoaxes to (pseudo)scientifically "justify" their stance (much like the anti-global warming camp) and people are falling for it because of conspiracy once again. I've always thought vaccines are one of the most ingenious things mankind has developed.
  16. IMO this is the right time to release a Fire Emblem Warriors. FE solidified its status in the West with Fates and the public is used to the Warriors gameplay because of Hyrule Warriors. Plus FE world lends itself well to Warriors treatment like Zelda world did. Honestly I think it's a better idea than SMTxFE.
  17. Wyverns are tanks and have better strength, but they suck against magic. Wind magic will only dent a Pegasus, but will severely damage a Wyvern. Then again, the opposite is true for arrows, so there's that. Pegasi are usually faster, too, which can be important. 1-on-1 the Wyvern always wins, though, because axes beat lances.
  18. The wall is one of the most hilariously delusional things Trump has promised, and for good reason. There's absolutely no way he can "force" Mexico to pay unless he threatens military action or economic sanctions. I could see him doing the latter, though, which would be absolutely silly, and if the only thing stopping him from doing so is hostility from most other countries, he can definitely afford the negative publicity. In fact, there's little he can't do as the POTUS because the USA, as the superpower they are, are notorious for making a mockery out of international law and just doing as they please (case in point: invasion of Iraq). Also, I believe his supporters would gladly pay for it if he couldn't make Mexico pay, so there's that, too.
  19. Well considering ISIS bombs Iraqi cities every week with tens of casualties I'd say Iraq is in critical situation regardless of the US army's presence there.
  20. You send the betas only to people you trust, and they give you feedback. Ideas are not protected by copyright, though. Everything that's publicly posted online is considered published and its commercial value is considerably reduced, BTW.
  21. Of course they'd make the most broken Pokémon in the game easy to catch... Of course. Typical Gamefreak.
  22. There's no answer that satisfies everyone. If the USA election had been decided on majority vote, there would still be a political rift much akin to what happened in Brazil and Venezuela after their latest presidential elections, and look where it has led them (presidential impeachment in the former and pure chaos in the latter). Realistically speaking, Clinton's win in majority vote was much narrower than Trump's win in the electoral college.
  23. Either way, even though Sinnoh is one of my favorite regions, I don't want it to be remade. I was already vehemently against Hoenn remakes and they unfortunately happened. If they remake Sinnoh they'll probably introduce some BS to the story the same way they did in Hoenn with the Delta Episode and the multiverse. Not to mention that, given their track record, they'll probably build the remakes around the vastly inferior Diamond and Pearl games instead of Platinum which is the only proper way to experience Sinnoh...
  24. As someone with history in my family: 40 is the age for people with history, 50 for people who don't. Lost my father to it. The thing is that the most effective exam requires a doctor inserting the finger into the man's anus. Most urologists are men. I guess you can identify the problem here. The vast majority of (straight) men find it demoralising, so they postpone examination until it's too late. Prostate cancer is a silent disease and symptoms tend to appear only when the cancer is already quite developed.
