Gryz
Yeah, rain-n-snow can be good for atmosphere. And removing the terrain penalties wouldn't be a problem considering there's already nightmare modules that can do it. ... Maybe snow deals slight damage to every unit? That sounds like a job for pointless ASM, though, and... yeah, it's a pretty shit idea. Just putting it out there. Oh no... Imagine if the "cold damage" was set-up like poison and you had to watch every unit take a hit. The start of the enemy phase could take over a minute! Emulator speed up button activate! Also, it would be super LOL and anticlimactic if the chapter was won by a snowflake. Hector: "Dawson's plan may have been successful, if only he remembered to bring a sweater." EldricKnight
mmmmm... I don't think snow would be a good choice of being in Hector's Tale, unless if you make the lake freeze as well. Additionally, shouldn't this battle take place somewhere in spring/summer instead of inside the middle of a catastrophic environmental calamity? Gryz
Actually, no one has mentioned sandstorm yet, so lets throw that in too. This battle is so epic that the laws of nature start to fall apart! Sandstrom adds fog-of-war AND turns all the plain tiles into desert tiles. Everyone will love this!
deranger
Well Ostia's pretty close to the center of Elibe, so if there's anywhere that can get every weather condition, it's probably Ostia. I mean, it's on-a-mountain-range-overlooking-a-desert-ish.
Crimson Red
>____> Arch fuck you always stealing my ideas ...just kidding bro I love you, but seriously remember how forever ago we were talking and we were both like "haha it feels like everytime you (Arch) comes up with an idea I'm always like "I already did that, I just didn't show it off to the public"" and you called bullshit? XD well you probably don't give a shit but you can also probably see where this is going Chapter 26 of a hack of mine also has times of day implemented and special events that only happen during certain days. IIRC I made like 1 turn equivalent to one hour on a 24-hour based day and the map has a turn limit of 3 days (72 turns) though I implemented this back in like February 2012 IIRC so I'm not sure, and to make it worse I had to completely disassemble my events because I lost all my event scripts so I don't even have the events labeled -_- but yeah, this is a hilarious coincidence, Arch XD Personally I am not adding random weather effects in though, then it just looks like a gimmick (though I can see how they might fit in to Hector's Tale). Having a time limit actually ties in with the story of the plot (I don't believe in RPGs where you can go on tons of sidequests right before the final boss is about to end the world. No, any good villain wouldn't wait for you to finish your fucking sidequests XD) tl;dr I'm lmao that once again I have to come out of nowhere to be like "NO YOU WEREN'T THE FIRST" (well, I didn't have to but I couldn't help the laughter <3 it's not like I did anything overly awesome...) even though I might've not been the first, either... I'm also kinda curious how you manipulated events to make the changes, since you may have found a more efficient way than me (I had a little problem with certain tile changes on the map resetting when the time of day changes so I have to code these events that manipulate tile changes so they make a little sense and don't randomly close and re-open and whatnot: and actually, adding in small details like "you can only visit villages during the day time" is kind of awesome in its own way, if only because it feels a little more realistic than the typical map...). I'll be suuuuuuuure to bother you on skype in a few weeks ;)

Arch
A bit of bad news, guys. I'll be out of commission for about three weeks . Bad timing, seeing as my summer vacation had just started and I was getting all geared up to finally get moving on Elibian Nights. My laptop (with all of my hacking gear) had to be sent in for repair, and I don't have a free computer to migrate all of my hacking resources to. So yeah, I won't be making any progress for three to five weeks. On one hand, it sets things back a fair amount. On the other hand, I can still develop the project. I try to devote a bit of time each day to Elibian Nights, so time spent away from the ROMs will likely become a bit of time spent on the drawing boards. Who knows what I might come up with? Original Alear
I've been playing this, it's enjoyable! Thanks for your hardwork Arch! (hopefully you'll read this at some point, well, if you don't, eh) I doubt this is an issue with a hack, since it seems like something that probably has something to do with FE7 itself. It's also easily avoidable, and can be fixed with the restart chapter command. But when I turned off the game midway through checking an achievement and then resumed the game later, roughly half the achievement characters were wiped off the screen. This also messed up the achievement dialogue somehow (I think I talked to one of them and this prompted the game to start Hector's tale). I think it's kind of unfortunate that Florina doesn't have a fili shield in the nomad chapter since there are so many enemy bow users...but I guess in the end, it doesn't matter much if she dies or flies in a corner anyway. Arch
I read your message (I do my best to read all of the replies), and I definitely appreciate the compliments! I doubt this is an issue with a hack, since it seems like something that probably has something to do with FE7 itself. Unfortunately having the game forget about those loaded characters is a consequence of FE7. It only happens if you restart mid-dialogue on the achievement screen, so I feel like rewriting how the game stores things in memory wouldn't be worth fixing that glitch, seeing as it's fairly minor. I think it's kind of unfortunate that Florina doesn't have a fili shield in the nomad chapter since there are so many enemy bow users...but I guess in the end, it doesn't matter much if she dies or flies in a corner anyway. Have Florina talk with Lyn next time you play the chapter .
Arch
Well, I've got a bit of hacking ability restored. My mother had the sudden urge to buy a laptop for herself, but hasn't touched the thing in a week. So, I slipped in a few programs (Nightmare, FEditor, and VBA). I just expanded the item array, which means I've got 97 new item slots to toy around with. I've gone on a bit of a "new item spree:" As always, I'm interested in hearing feedback from the fans. If you guys have any good ideas on how to use my 92 remaining slots, be sure to leave a comment with those ideas! Items can be generic (for all units), or, perhaps, for one character in particular (if you feel a certain character deserves a PRF weapon). Let me know what you guys would like to see added! Psych
Sword wielding dancers? Or something to make Ninian more useful. Half of your team is mounted and the other consists of Eliwood, Rebecca, and Natalie who aren't exactly best on foot. I just feel like Ninian isn't able to keep up with the horses and actually be useful.

I love making new weapons~ I don't know much about yours, so I dunno if you have these already, but here's some ideas I've used for my own hacks. Some of these are also featured on ballistae. - Heavy for the three types (like FE10) - Physical ranged swords (FE10 again) - More weapon ranks for hand axes and javelins (they had good ideas) - Devil for all types - Sealing, has effectiveness vs. mages, causes silence (not sure if the GBA series can have that without ASM) - A unique weapon that adds HP - Guard weapons, adds to defenses - HP-cutters - Master double-attacks, can't forget those~ - Dagger weapon class - Magic spears/axes/bows - Second-level reverse-triangle weapons for swords and spears like the Swordkiller/slayer - Obvious, but may as well say crossing over even more weapons that show up in other FEs Edited May 19, 2012 by Pukachi
gloomtail93
^ Agreed with the guy above, lots of good ideas. Specifically for crossovers, some of FE5's special weapons are really cool. I know Daimthunder is already in this, but maybe some other ones too like Grafcalibur, the King Sword, the Dragon Lance, the Pugi, or Rewarp. Or, if you have any enemy Druids or Summoners, you could give them Stone from FE8, and then make the Kia staff useable or something? Just throwing out random ideas. (If any of these are already in this game, I apologize, the only clips I've seen are when MageKnight quickplayed this >_<)
Nayr Farros
On the subject of Isadora, perhaps you could reclass her away from Paladin to give the party in tale 1 a bit more diversity. If Izzy's official art is to be believed, she resembles the Eirika battle sprites. Isadora's ending said that she was trained to be a lady until she got married, meaning she was diverting from her knightly training. So you could give her the On-Foot-Eirika or Beta-Eirika battle sprites and give her a new class name signifying this.

The Blind Archer
If Izzy's official art is to be believed, she resembles the Eirika battle sprites. Stopped reading there. Nintenlord
- Sealing, has effectiveness vs. mages, causes silence (not sure if the GBA series can have that without ASM) Effectiveness against mages is easy, but silencing would require some ASM. Not much though, worst case scenario is that you'd have to copy/paste the routine that does poisoning and then do some item ID testing to see if the weapon gives poison or silence. Anouleth
On the subject of Isadora, perhaps you could reclass her away from Paladin to give the party in tale 1 a bit more diversity. If 2 paladins is unacceptable, you'd also need to reclass one of Wil/Rebecca, one of Kent/Sain, two of Rath/Dayan/that other dude. I think Isadora is already very distinct from Marcus with specialisation in Swords instead of Lances and a very different stat spread. Isadora's ending said that she was trained to be a lady until she got married, meaning she was diverting from her knightly training. So you could give her the On-Foot-Eirika or Beta-Eirika battle sprites and give her a new class name signifying this. So instead of Isadora being actually distinct by virtue of being a sword using paladin of which there are no others in Eliwood's Tale, or in fact in the entirety of this hack, you would prefer her to be superficially distinct from Eliwood with the same move type and weapon ranks but a different animation? Feaw
Plus that you'd be effectively downgrading/crippling Dora becuase of the loss of her horse and extra weapons choices (and I just don't see her as Eirika's class, wether it's her promoted form or not). And of course 2 paladins isn't a bad thing at all (hell, even back when Lowen still was one, it didn't matter). Also lul calling her Izzy.
