[FE8] Draft Tournament III

I've decided: Seth can be treated like other undrafted units. When creating this thread I was assuming this was the case anyway. I'll edit the OP to reflect this decision.

Sorry for any early inconveniences any of you may have faced while under the impression that you couldn't do anything with Seth.

On that note I'm off to bed and probably going to advance a bit further. I'll post any advances in, say, 8 hours or so.

Goodie. :)

Ch5: The Empire's Reach (12/44)

Yay Natasha. Pretty simple strategy, Vanessa grabbed the Dragonshield and then joined the other two headed north, clearing enemies and pressing towards the boss. Killed Joshua, and while Garcia, Eirika and Natasha pressed on to the boss, Vanessa visited the Armorslayer and Secret Book villages. Eirika damaged the boss, Garcia got the kill.

Ch5x: Unbroken Heart (11/55)

Simple, sent Ephraim, Kyle, and Orson charging in. Skipped the chests. Orson got the boss kill because I wanted to shave turns.

Ch6: Victims of War (7/62)

I hate this chapter. I really do. This took a few tries but finally worked out. I sent Eirika, Garcia and Natasha northeast while Vanessa went the long way around the bottom to engage the boss. The 3 of the main force were swamped with enemies, but fortunately Natasha has good enough avoid while standing on mountains to usually only get hit once. She actually only died once, the other restarts were mostly because I decided to try and be more aggressive with Garcia than I needed to be. Vanessa tore the boss apart on turn 7, before the spider was even in sight.

level HP ST SK SP LK DF RS
Eirika 14.44 27 08 15 16 10 08 05
Garcia 13.31 33 14 11 09 06 06 01
Vaness 10.21 24 08 12 15 10 09 11
Natash 02.16 19 03 05 08 07 02 07

Yea, all the EXP gain for Natasha on that chapter was from taking blows.

Don't forget you are allowed to use Seth to meashield Song.

Played some chapters throughout the night and morning, and I got to Ch.6.

Ch.2: The Protected (6/14)

From what I remember doing last night, Gilliam stayed near the shop and took on the 2 that comes from the left. Eirika ran off ahead to get to the village, killing all the bandits along the way. Boulder got the 2 villages in the North. Due to not being able to rescue Ross with Vanessa, he died, but Garcia took out that bandit and archer as an NPC. Chapter done in 6 turns.

Ch.3: The Bandits of Borgo (13/27)

colm get. It took a few restarts because Colm would get killed by the bandit in the North room. Gilliam and Eirika go east while Colm takes the 3 chests. Garcia picks up the door and chest keys and gets the chest in the South, while Colm teams up with Eirika to clear the rest of the map out.

Ch.4: Ancient Horrors (9/36)

Sent Colm south to get Lute. Garcia went to the North village. Eirika and Gilliam stayed in the top half of the map while Colm and Lute cleared the bottom half.

Ch.5: The Empire's Reach (11/47)

I planned on sending Lute solo around the western route, but backed off because the enemy had decent hit on her. So I sent her around the other side of that wall instead where she finished off by killing the mercenary the other side of the wall in the North. Everyone else went up the centre-right towards Joshua. Eirika and Colm killed the 2 bandits that come on the right, then Colm went back and got the Dragonshield. Gave Joshua's Killing Edge to Eirika, as well as the Armorslayer which she used to one-round the boss. Managed to visit all the villages.

Ch.5x: Unbroken Heart (12/59)

Did some trading amongst the units, gave Ephraim the Javelin. Ephraim ignored the chests, but kept Forde behind to take out the Mage and Fighter, and the 2 chests. Kyle stored some items for Forde so I didn't have to discard anything. Orson and Ephraim went around towards the throne. Orson took out mainly the Fighters and magic units that were capable of dealing decent damage to Ephraim, while Ephraim went for the throne, criticalling the boss. While Eph was doing that, Orson went off to take the Elixer from the Archer, then he ran back and traded that and the Silver Sword to Ephraim, keeping a Steel lance and vulnerary while Ephraim siezed.

Gentlemen.

PROLOGUE

3 turns clear.

Rapier get. Orange windows get. Lack of Autocursor get. Animations off get.

CHAPTER 1

7 turns clear.

Franz get. Eirika missed three Rapier shots in a row at 69 and cost me a whole turn, but it's not worth resetting over. She's level 4 now at still at 4 STR. I'd BETTER not see a fucking repeat of that one run...

CHAPTER 2

7 turns clear.

Ross is a warrior til the very end. Managed to hit all the villages, but I'm not sure why I did. I really wanted a Pure Water?

CHAPTER 3

11 turns clear.

Hey there hot stuff. Neimi get. Saved Colm because I can't let him die.

CHAPTER 4

10 turns clear.

L'Arachel you're here for --oh right. whore. YEAH JUST GO AWAY AND TAKE TWO OF MY DRAFTEES. I actually use the Pure Water I sacrificed a turn for in C1 to get Franz to take all the Beholders out early.

CHAPTER 5

11 turns clear.

Could have finished it a little faster, but I wanted to get the Dracoshield and that took a turn or two of detour. I took the time to secure the other villages for a free Guiding Ring. Franz could have gotten the kill on Turn 10 but I ran out of Vulneraries on him. Damn my poor planning.

Commentary: The objetive of this map is hilarious. "Guard Duessel".

All I had Tana do here is kill the fleet carrying the Secret Book.

Chapter 11

Before starting, I gave a Speedwings and Secret Books to Duessel. Now he can double every enemy except the boss. And he needed +4 Hit since his Hit was going to be a little shaky against sword-wielding enemies, that is...with a Hand Axe.

The next thing I did was promote Joshua and Ross. Finally, they became monsters.

Last thing I did was go all the way to Ide and buy 2-range weapons (Javelins & Hand Axes)

Begin.

Unit Lvl HP Str Skill Spd Luck Def Res Support
Ephraim 19 36 15 17 17 18 12 6

DURACEL 9 42 18 15 14 8 18 9

I sent Duessel through the double bridge equipped with a Steel Lance straight to the boat.

Ross took on the southern bridge equipped with Hatchet, and later a Hand Axe.

When the Deathgoyle and Beholder reinforcements arrived, I sent Ross to the first ship, and Duessel kept helping Ephraim on the middle ship.

I deployed Joshua thinking he would be of some help. But he hardly got a kill or two. All he did in the end was be rescued by Duessel only so everyone atacked my characters that had 2-range.

CHAPTER 5x 12 turn orson roflstomp. One miss that shouldn't have happened out of the two that actually did would have made it an 11.

INTERIM

Fed Franz the Dragonshield.

CHAPTER 6

Simplicity itself. Franz right, Eirika and Neimi waffle around and self-improve.

CHAPTER 7

9 turns clear.

CHAPTER 8

10 turns clear.

ahahaha franz promoted

IT'S EPHRAIM ROUTE TIME! :awesome:

CHAPTER 9

19 turns clear.

Not bad. Amelia cost me two turns to recruit and keep alive, unfortunately. Franz's twin weaknesses came into play in Gheb's room with the Armorslayer. Urgh.

INTERIM

Neimi eats a level 12 promotion to Ranger so she can rescue Ephraim.

CHAPTER 10

10 turn survival clear.

mind...spinning...

Neimi carried Ephraim down to Duracell while Franz cleared the way. I then proceeded to hide in that corner, bait Cormag into attacking a naked Duracell instead of Franz who would destroy him and then wall Ephraim in with a green Cavalier and Neimi and then I managed to actually get the village thanks to Cantoing Neimi in all that time. Couldn't even deploy Amelia.

JESUS.

INTERIM

Cormag receives a Secret Book, a Speedwing, a Pure Water, and my thoughts and prayers.

Ch7: Waterside Renvall (5/67)

I'm loving Vanessa. She rescued Eirika and dropped her directly in front of the boss on turn 3. Eirika destroyed the boss turn 4 player phase, dodging or taking minimal damage from the other weak enemies nearly. Seized the throne on turn 5 with 3 HP left. Garcia and Natasha went east to get some EXP. Vanessa chipped a random archer for some quick EXP before the chapter ended.

Ch8: It's a Trap! (10/77)

Admiral Akbar would love this chapter. Anyway, it was as straightfoward as can be, the trio mopping up the entrance enemies with Natasha's support, Garcia and Eirika charging the knights and taking them down, and Eirika rushing the throne asap and critting Tirado allowing for an easy kill. Kyle and Ephraim just killed stuff for some EXP.

A New Journey

Going Eirika's route, since it's easier and I get to make much better use of Saleh.

Between the chapters, I refresh some weapons, got Kyle an Iron Lance and gave him a Secret Book to eat ala Bartre.

Ch9: Distant Blade (16/93)

Ugh. I redid this chapter a whole bunch because I really wanted it to work out and to get a notably lower turncount than the poor saps who went with Ephraim. Basically, Kyle, Garcia and Natasha went west, and Vanessa and Eirika did their usual antics and flew together down south. Tana hid in a corner because she's not even a good shield. Eirika was deposited on the shores of the southeast part and began wreaking havoc with her high avoid and the judicious use of an Elixer. Vanessa visited the village but got badly hurt from an archer, so she backed off into the ocean and spent a couple turns drinking Vulneraries before returning to snipe off enemies in the huge mob formed around Eirika with her Javalin. Meanwhile, Kyle and Garcia very cautiously moved left, with Natasha lagging somewhat behind because most of the enemies refused to be one-rounded. After clearing the top-left clusterfuck of mercenaries (which are very annoying for Garcia, by the way, needs a swordreaver or promotion), the west side became much easier and luckily the killing edge myrm missed flat out (I didn't even see his hit rates, probably for the best). As Kyle and Garcia approached, Eirika and Vanessa had slimmed the mob considerably. Amelia got plowed over, I didn't even bother getting her for the Speedwing, which I may later regret. Finally, Garcia helped finish off the last of the enemies while Kyle went after the boss, taking down the surrounding Mercs and slamming into Binks with an Axereaver, no contest. Had to take an extra turn to kill the last archer because I'm an idiot and forgot it didn't move. Thank GOD that's done. The next chapter might just be worse though...

level HP ST SK SP LK DF RS
Eirika 20.00 30 10 18 20 13 10 06
Garcia 18.23 37 17 12 10 09 08 05

Natash 04.26 20 04 05 08 09 03 08
Kyle 14.68 34 15 10 13 07 10 03

I'm loving Kyle's STR and SPD, they're both looking excellent.

Ch10: Revolt at Carcino (9/102)

Another drag-and-drop chapter, Vanessa brought Eirika past Pablo's gate to take him on solo, only this time it had to be a bit further away because of the ballistae. Everyone else went south, I also brought Tana (weaponless) to recruit Gerik and co. Garcia and Kyle fought their way past some enemies with sporadic support from Natasha (again, the tendency of enemies to pile up and my lack of people to form walls curbed her usefulness). Tana flew around the archer to the west and grabbed Innes, who did the usual recruitment chain. Meanwhile, Eirika fought her way over to Pablo, who took a few turns to kill because he could 2RKO Eirika if he hit twice at around 54? displayed, so Eirika only attacked on enemy phase until he was nearly dead. Otherwise, everyone just killed stuff. I didn't recruit or kill Marisa.

level HP ST SK SP LK DF RS
Eirika 20.00 30 10 18 20 13 10 06
Garcia 19.03 38 18 12 11 10 08 05

Kyle 16.80 36 16 12 15 08 11 03
Gerik 11.22 33 14 13 13 09 10 04

Jesus christ Kyle. That speed...

Between chapters, I promoted Garcia to Hero with Gerik's crest.

Ch11: Creeping Darkness (13/115)

Not satisfied with this result, but my patience with redoing chapters is beginning to wear thin. At least I got all the treasure, although L'arachel died (I recruited her first and stole her torch staff though). Everyone went east except for Vanessa, who dealt with the stuff that spawned at the entrance (this was probably a mistake). Fought through everything, mainly with Kyle, with Gerik killing what he left behind and Garcia later taking the point around the Deathgoyle's door. Eirika opened chests and did little else. Natasha healed and, once she got it, just spammed Torch for EXP and Staff Rank.

level HP ST SK SP LK DF RS

Ch.6: Victims of War (7/66)

This took several restarts due to deaths.

Unhappy with Lute's level-ups. So far just getting one or two stats per level. I sent everyone East. I sent Colm ahead to take out the boss. I took a risk in attacking the boss with him since Colm was hurt with 14 HP remaining, and the boss could do 14 damage to him. Anyway I attacked on player phase with Colm surviving, then the boss attacked in enemy phase and killed himself.

My goal here was to recruit Marisa and kill the boss.

Marisa got a kill before the chapter ended. 50 Exp.

Joshua, Artur & Duessel head to the left side of the boat.

Ephraim stayed in the boat and took down a great number of enemies. It's too bad he was borderline on leveling when the chapter started, so he wasn't getting any Exp once he hit lvl 20.

Tana made an honorable sacrifice by ferrying Ross of the middle of the map. She died to an Archer.

Promoted Kyle to Great Knight.

Ch12: Village of Silence (13/128)

Another annoying rout map. At least my team is finally complete. Sent Vanessa north over the mountains to take out the eyes and the gargoyles up there, sent Kyle, Gerik, Garcia and Natasha east, and Eirika and Saleh dealt with the stuff around the entrance. I ended up having to have Kyle rescue Natasha for a while, Saleh was also more frail than I thought he would be but using terrain made him alright. Eirika's dodge shines as usual, as did Vanessa (one turn she was brought down to 6 HP and dodged several consecutive attacks). Finally, I recruited Ewan towards the end and killed the last few peeps. Vanessa hit 20, so I really need Cormag's whip now.

Ch13: Hamill Canyon (6/134)

I could've done this chapter in about 2 turns, but I needed Cormag's whip so I decided to wait. Kyle isn't even fair. His speed is as high as his strength and because of that he rips everyone to goddamn shreads. What the hell. Saleh and Vanessa went north, Gerik south, Garcia and Kyle east, and Eirika, Ewan, and Natasha remained in the center. Eirika weakened the soldiers down south for Ewan to get some kills, everyone else just killed who they could. Saleh came back to the center and held off the western fighter/merc reinforcements until Cormag arrived. Ewan just continued to throw cheap shots around, getting EXP. Kyle and Garcia destroyed everything. Once Cormag was recruited, Kyle one-rounded Aias effortlessly, ending the chapter.

Ch14: Queen of White Dunes (12/146)

Did a lot of planning for this chapter for the quick clear. Everyone blitzed through the right door (where Rennac was) on the second turn. Vanessa (carrying Eirika) moved as close to Rennac as possible and dropped her while everyone else cleared out the room. Gerik went off alone in the middle route to get the Guiding Ring and some EXP for himself since he would have trouble keeping up with everyone else. Recruited Rennac with Eirika and paid the 10k Gold since L'arachel died. Got the Hero Crest and the two chests on the top right for a Spear and a Hammerne with Ewan since he's so slow. I left Rennac where he was and sent the rest rushing towards the throne, blitzing over the enemies on the way. Traded the Member Card to Vanessa and sent her to the secret shop, buying a Physic, a Barrier, and some various Killer weapons. Kyle attacked Carlyle with a Swordreaver, taking a counter and then having Saleh finish him with Elfire on the next turn. Gerik meanwhile was dealing with the Cavalier reinforcements, who luckily didn't hit very hard so his Elixer sustained him. Eirika took the throne and ended the chapter.

Ch. 7: Waterside Renvall (12/78)

I incurred the 4 turn penalty here, bringing it from 8 to 12 turns. I ferried Eirika using Vanessa up to the boss, into the forest on the left. I decided to get the energy ring with Colm, which would explain why I didn't complete this chapter sooner. However Vanessa died to the ballista to the east after meatshielding Eirika from the Soldier with the Slim lance while she was taking out the boss. Meh. I may have done it just as quick even if Eirika travelled around with the rest of the crew.

Ch. 8: It's a Trap! (11/89)

Well this one was a bit simpler. I sent everyone north towards the chest. Colm went east, killing the Fighter, Myrmidon, Mercenary and Knight, then followed up the rest of the crew that went north. Forde and Ephraim came along and killed everyone up the path to the chests. All enemies were killed by turn 11, with Eirika finishing the boss with a crit kill Rapier blow on player phase of turn 10. Only thing left here were the 2 chests to the west.

CHAPTER 12

6 turns clear.

On PP6, Franz finally breaks through and smacks the boss with a Steel Axe. On EP6, Franz weathers all counters (killing Marisa in the process) and counterkills the boss. I didn't recruit Ewan and therefore forewent his Energy Ring. Amelia's probably gonna get benched real soon.

Stats update at random interval!

Ephraim 15.32 31|13|12 |15 |13|11 | 5
Franz /12.53 44|23|15 |21 |13|17*|10
Neimi / 3.05 25|11|16 |14 |13| 7 | 7
Cormag 13.17 31|18|14*|13*| 6|13 | 3
Amelia - 9.15 16| 4| 3 | 4 | 6| 2 | 3
L'Arachel 3.49 18| 6| 6 |10 |12| 5 | 8

Yes, Amelia is still Recruit 1.

CHAPTER 13

11 turns clear.

Franz drank a Talisman in the middle of the chapter for great justice. I might have shaved a single turn but he took Selena to ONE HEALTH with his Hand Axe volley - and leveled from the chip - and gained STR. Figures.

INTERIM

Shopping. Neimi takes an Energy Ring, Cormag takes a Goddess Icon.

Promoted Gerik to Ranger.

Ch15: Scorched Sand (14/160)

Absolutely infuriating. I had to restart this chapter a shitload, mostly because Rennac kept dying, but Ewan was also a prime suspect and even Ephraim died once. Sent Gerik and Garcia west to deal with Caellach and his mob, Kyle south to destroy the world, and Saleh, Eirika, and Rennac east to kill the Pegasi and Wyverns over there, and get the Silver Card and Metis Tome. Ewan, Natasha, and Vanessa stayed near the pyramid to deal with the enemies that appeared around there. Luckily, Caellach had a pretty low highrate on Gerik, so he just chipped at him until he died on turn 8 or 9. Even more luckily, Saleh got a crit on the annoying Berserker with his Thunder tome so I didn't have to worry about him. Rennac's dodge sucks for a Rogue, I've been spoiled by using Thieves like Matthew, Chad and Colm I guess. But, in the end he managed to survive. Barely. Ewan is surprisingly tankish while sitting on a Fort, he got to level 10 easily retaliating against crappy enemies and killing Wyvern Riders Vanessa had chipped. Barrier and Physic make Natasha so much easier to level and so much better at healing since she doesn't need to be so damn close. Ephraim went to the Master Seal village as Kyle crossed the desert. Ever heard of The Juggernaut? That's my boy Kyle. He rampaged ever-eastward while Garcia went south while Gerik dealt with Caellach and helped Ephraim fight off the hoard of enemies that appeared where Ephraim joined. Knoll just dropped his stuff, Duessel traded his to Ephraim. Knoll died quickly and painfully from a large axe blow that crushed his feeble bones into dust. Duessel just laughed. After the northeastern Pegasi were dealt with, Saleh went south to join up with Kyle, who had by then destroyed most of the enemy forces. Kyle advanced on Valter, and because of his unprecedented speed growth (it was HIGHER than his strength at this point), he doubled Valter, who couldn't lay a finger on him. After that, I waited a couple turns while Gerik unearthed the warp staff.

level HP ST SK SP LK DF RS
Eirika 20.00 30 10 18 20 13 10 06
Garcia 05.24 43 23 14 13 12 11 07
Vaness 02.45 37 14 19 22 14 13 17
Natash 08.98 21 04 08 09 11 03 10
Kyle 08.37 48 22 16 22 13 17 07
Gerik 03.69 44 21 19 14 12 15 09
Saleh 05.63 33 19 19 15 14 10 13
Ewan 10.00 22 10 06 10 09 02 06
Ephrai 15.19 33 14 16 18 15 13 06

That was a long summary. Whew.

CHAPTER 14

16 turns clear.

I could have done it about two turns faster, but I wanted Hammerne. Oh well, take a turn or two loss for much gain later in the form of extra Warp.

Incidentally, something awkward happened when I started the chapter and found L'Arachel to only be on the tail end of D Staves - she needed C for Restore. Cue me frenetically dancing for her and Mending everything I can to get her up to speed before tackling the Berzerk staffers. Franz had to spend two turns asleep to make it so. Also, CAN RECK GET.

INTERIM

Angelic Robe to Neimi.

CHAPTER 15

11 turns clear.

Franz drops Valter on Turn 4 with a Dragonspear, and then runs around on the bottom of the map. He runs out of Hand Axes, takes Javelins from Ephraim, and knocks out the bottom-left spawn in one turn flat when it arrives.

Cormag runs up to the top of the map and gets 20 off the trash. He then equips an Axereaver, runs over to Caellach, and promotes to Wyvern Knight because the extra SPD lets him double. Cormag then does to the top half what Franz did to the bottom.

CAN RECK did a lot of fighting (?!) and managed to secure me Warp and the Swiftsoles. Unfortunately L'Arachel's still at half through B Staves. Time to abuse!

INTERIM

Swiftsoles to Franz, duh.

Before I continue, thoughts on Ewan's promotion? I'm torn between summoner and Mage knight, summoner for obvious reasons and mage knight for better move and rescue and offensive capability, and to satisfy my love of thunder tomes. That way I could S rank Saleh in light and give him Ivaldi and Ewan Excalibur.

I dunno :x

Ch. 9: 15 turns

Ch. 10: 6 turns

Ch. 11: 11 turns

I don't really have time to go into detail right now, I'll edit this post later. But Colm promoted to Assassin during Ch. 11.
