VincentASM
Awakening received a 9/9/9/9 (36/40) score from Famitsu, making it one of the highest rated Fire Emblem games, tied with Mystery of the Emblem and Sword of Seals. What did the reviewers have to say? "The basics are the same, but a lot of refinements have been made, so the game feels fresh to play. The Dual system, which lets nearby characters provide support in battle, enhances the game's strategic aspect and is a nice touch. Long-time fans will love the large amount of content and the communication features further prolong the game's life." "The character designs are love-or-hate. The various game systems will make players feel satisfied. The Dual system adds a new layer of strategy. Casual mode is nice." "The Double system, which allows two characters to combine as a pair, greatly increases the strategic aspect. Support relationships between units grow as they become closer, but there's also room for self-imposed challenges. You can enjoy the game fine without worrying about details regarding battles and movement." "The story is straightforward and easy to understand. Beginners and advanced players can customise the difficulty, to create a pleasant playing experience. The gameplay is easy to pick up and there's no stress at all. The Dual system makes the relationships between allies more fun." (Thanks to TheEnd for clarifying some key points) EDIT Magazine images * The Iwata Asks interview already hinted at this, but there is a difficulty level above Lunatic. * As well as stocking rare items, travelling merchants will also sell regular ware at a discounted price. * Characters who can marry can obtain an "S" level support, which is the highest level of support. * The confession scenes only occur for My Unit and his/her partner and, in true monogamous fashion, you can only view one of these scenes per playthrough. * The first paid DLC map is modelled after Chapter 1 of Shadow Dragon. * Various illustrators will be providing artwork for future sets of paid DLC. Super Mecha Death Christ
The character designs are love-or-hate. Interesting. I think this is something a lot of people will agree with. Toilet head!
Velth
No comments on the marriage and children system? were they not impressed by it? All in all that's a very good score. Edited April 11, 2012 by Velth
Popo
Thanks for sharing! I'm curious to know what the other ten pages are about, but it's good that the initial reviewers seems to be impressed with the game. :D
VincentASM
Since I'm here, I do know Famitsu has Frederick's confession CG and the first DLC map (with Marth) is modelled after Chapter 1 of Shadow Dragon (@ ChinaFE). The other info right now is kind of vague and I don't know how reliable they are.
H-Bastaki
fair score, although i think the game deserves more, Frederick.....
Agro
Eh, Famitsu's reviews have about the same credentials as a Vietnamese doctor in Australia (read: none), so I think I'll wait to hear the verdict from some other people first.
sunshineYON
I never pay attention to magazine/aggregate site reviews of video games. But Famitsu is suppose to be a big deal(?), I suppose. I heard a while back that they are very conservative with their 40's. This might have been about Wind Waker, so it was a while back... EDIT: They are not generous. H-Bastaki
btw will the score change after the game is released? shouldn't they review it after they play it?

Its probably the most respected Japanese magazine for reviews, but that's probably not saying much. I do know some people like knowing Famitsu scores. btw will the score change after the game is released? shouldn't they review it after they play it? Nah, don't worry, these guys have already played and finished the game. Hopefully. Edited April 11, 2012 by VincentASM

There was some controversy over the score they gave Dirge of Cerberus (28/40, or 7/7/7/7) because everyone thought it was shit. Wind Waker's 40 was well-deserved though, I think. BrightBow
Personal, I don't see how they expect anybody to trust their reviews when they are made before a games release. I mean obviously you don't get access to a game so soon by handing out bad reviews too them. Case in point: Wind Waker. As much as I love it, the game takes a deeeep dive shortly after revisiting the fortress. 2 Words: "Triforce maps" There is no way it deserves a perfect score with a flaw like that. Well, at least we will probably get some new information out of it. Edited April 11, 2012 by BrightBow
Popo
btw will the score change after the game is released? shouldn't they review it after they play it? I'm pretty sure that major reviewing magazines/websites get advanced copies, similar to how movie critics get advanced screenings.
Shun One
I'm pretty sure that major reviewing magazines/websites get advanced copies, similar to how movie critics get advanced screenings. This. Also, about what I expected. The comment about the designs is spot on and exactly what I thought about them from the on-set. Luckily for me, I love the new look so it's a big bonus for me. Wooster
I haven't trusted Famitisu for the past decade. High scores used to mean something from them.
goodperson707
and 36 is pretty good score and they are very conservative in the 40's only 19 games have gotten one

Othin
One opinion may not be worth much, but it's a good sign regardless. Yay high score! Hopefully that means NoA will announce it... I don't think it works that way.
Leif
One opinion may not be worth much, but it's a good sign regardless. I don't think it works that way. Agreed, New Mystery had a similar score, and it wasn't released here. I believe though since FE13 has many new features, I believe it will come out to America since it can at least have a change to appeal to western gamers. Book of Ereshkigal
Doesn't sound like a bad Idea. Now, this game better have a support viewer :p
