Holy shit you're right.

EDIT-I predict we next revisit this topic september or october 2015.

EDIT2: the funniest thing IMO is that I was about to type out a post that was nearly word-for-word the same as what I had in the linked topic.

hahaha serenes wouldn't even make the top twenty, mate

Couldn't you at least answer the question? Coming to the thread just to insult this place is rude.

I don't think I can name my next favourite site, so for now let's just say amazon.ca since my pc kindle is so loaded right now.

I have to say TvTropes, although I have a feeling that site has the murderous intent to drain time and youth out of people who like entertainment.

Wow. I was wondering when someone would finally say this. It took an amazing 177 questions for that to happen lol.

Anyways! What makes you cringe? I don't mean out of an innate phobia or (preferably) anything relating to a previous question's answers. All the action or thing or whatever has to do is cause you to literally cringe - answers preferably should be SFW or at least don't link to porn or some crap because I'm sure there's cringeworthy stuff there. Answers can pertain to whatever but I'm sure there will be more internet related answers.

Honestly, while I don't fear it or anything, slapping people (and I mean in an serious matter meant to harm or express discontent as opposed to playful slapping) really makes me cringe. Maybe it's because of the personal feedback or just the fact it represents a societal double standard I hate. I'd probably also have to go with a classic groin kick or anything that clearly looks painful (slammed toes, etc).

Most modern comedies. As an example, I can't seem to tune into "Miranda" without cringing at how ridiculous it is and turning straight back to another channel. I'm well aware it's popular and there has to be a reason for that, but it's just not to my taste.

On the other hand, old comedies like "Open All Hours", "Hogan's Heroes", "Red Dwarf", "The Thin Blue Line", "Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister" and many others are just fine. There just seems to have been a gradual shift over the years from comedies that used effective wordplay and creative plots to get their laughs, to a more slapstick physical comedy approach which to my taste is a bit on the "cringeworthy" side. You can occaisonally see it happening within a show - "My Family" seemed to gradually slide between the two approaches over its rather long life, getting more and more cringeworthy as it went on.

It's definitely the style that bugs me though, because the resurrections of "Red Dwarf", "Birds of a Feather" and "Open All Hours" (not so much that last one, given that "Still Open All Hours" was mostly a retread of the exact jokes gone before) have been highly enjoyable for me, and they deliberately emulated the older style. That said, even old comedies can be cringeworthy. "Fawlty Towers" was generally enjoyable, but occaisonally Basil Fawlty (John Cleese)'s rants went over the top and into "start cringing" territory.

I can see why a lot of people like the new style, but it's not for me personally. Hence why I get more amusement from "QI" and "Mock the Week".

People making fools of themselves. I'm not sure when it's cringeworthy, and when it's merely hilarious, but that's what comes to mind.

I think someone here might need a hug...

Seeing people in pain or others getting hurt, it bothers me quite more than I ever expected it to... also blindingly, near catatonic stupidity

Certain noises like people cracking their knuckles, people who pick at scabs and the like(pleasepleasePLEASE don't do this around me its so gross), being around people with severe foot-in-mouth problems where they actually say something extremely foolish or ignorant and everything gets so awkward that you want to leave, remembering embarassing things I did when I was younger, seeing bronies or people wearing "meme" shirts

uhh yeah theres probably more but those were the first things that came to my head SO

That, and... squishing buggies ;u; Especially if they're large enough... I try to just throw them back outside if I can. (well this could apply to anything really, it's just that I've only ever squished bugs...)

I dunno, I just don't like pain or life-losiiiiiing (or taking)
