Loki Laufeyson
My grampa used to have a saying: "Want in one hand, shit in the other. See which one fills the fastest." Wisest thing ever.
Percivalé
my dad knows all of these obscure wise adages in Spanish and every once in a while he'll share some with me like one, translated: "At night, all of the cats are black" meaning we're all human in the end and no better or worse than the other and eventually we'll all die

He even knew Spanish but would rarely use it. That man was goofy as hell with his racism. He also had a huge beef with the Japanese but that had to do with WWII. Ooops. euklyd
When I was trying to decided between two things, my dad would always tell me "Flip a coin. If you want to flip again, you probably actually want the other one." He's said more profound things, but I really like that one.
