If you want a sure-fire way to piss me off, it's posting like this.

I've fixed it again, temporarily, but I'm working on a more permanent solution.

Edit: I've implemented some more protections on the server. Hopefully this will fix the issue, but I'll only really be able to tell over time.

I am now cranky as shit because my daily dosage of SF had been withheld.

And I'm hungry, so I'm going to get food and eat it whilst simultaneously reading things the Americans posted as I slept.

Why was it offline for what must have been 6 hours? This is getting fucking stupid.

Be happy it wasn't longer. I personally just am glad when things are not as bad as possible. (If it was the worst case then POOP).

Jyosua has no control over Domain Name Servers resolving...

Some where affected while others weren't. (I was using Google's DNS [8.8.8.8|8.8.4.4] and it wasn't working but I switched to OpenDNS [208.67.222.222|208.67.220.220] then it started to work again)

http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php gets resolved to http://184.154.50.181/forums/index.php

SF was never down, it's just that multiple DNS were affected.

I will not be happy about it.

Yes, it was. It appears like the DNS server was down for some reason... not sure why.

Ohh so no wonder i was getting messages saying that the website couldn't be identified, and that the DNS lookup failed (which Chrome assumed that it was a problem with my internet)

Thanks for at least telling us what was going on guys

That's not exactly true. The DNS services were affected specifically because our nameservers were down. I brought them back online and everything started working again.

Oh... but why was it working with OpenDNS but not with Google's DNS? weird...

Anyways... Nevermind.

OpenDNS probably caches, while Google tries to contact the nameservers.

So everything appears to be working fine now. Quote me in a reply to this thread if the site starts running really slow again.

For some reason I can't go into the IP chat and sending PMs is oddly slow.

EDIT: Wow, IPC is working for me again. But everything else seems slow ...
