eclipse
After dissecting Myrrh in Klok's topic, I decided to try an experiment of my own. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a screenshot of the randomizer, so you'll just have to take my word for it. PRE-PATCH: - Any non-HP growth that was above 60% was dropped to 60% (this affected Tethys, Myrrh, and Ewan's phantom) - Myrrh's HP growth was halved (from 130% to 65%) RANDOMIZER STUFF: - I set the growth variance to 50%, for the most chaos I could muster - Con has a variance of 5, with 4 being the minimum (I think) - Weapon MT has a variance of 4 - Movement ranges from 5 to 8 - Randomized affinities - Everything else is what Klok outlined (here) ACTUAL RUN STUFF: - Skirmishes get fought if and only if they're in the way of a store I need to get to - The Tower of Valni/Lagdou Ruins are BANNED - RNG abusing will be used as necessary (and it WILL be necessary) As a result. . . Prologue We're gonna go big or go home. THE HELL IS THAT ON THE THRONE?! Wait, the staffbot's still around? Uh, hi Valter, nice hair? Valter: Dodgehappy Bishop Seth (now Rennac): Pile of Bones Hi Eir--WHAT IN THE EVERLIVING FUCK IS THIS?! Looks like it's going to be The Rennac Show, since Kyle can't deal damage yet. Speaking of. . .this is Seth's replacement. He reminds me of Garath from Dream of Five. . .after consuming a room full of Skill-boosters. Oooh, nice! Rennac starts with two of these bad boys. That, on the other hand. . . Archanea called, they want their OP axes back! So much for dark magic. That is one tanky boss. These guys look about right, for a Prologue battle. Let the Rennac Self-Improvement montage begin! Not like Kyle can do much else besides heal. ;/ The boss, realizing that attacking Rennac is a monumental waste of time, aims for Kyle instead. THE HORROR! Can't even OHKO the boss! "I took a Flux to the face, what do YOU think?" Chapter 1 The first, most important thing is to check the might of Iron Lances. They suck. A+ on movement, D on CON. The latter's going to be a recurring problem. This is Franz. . .erm, Ewan. HP's a bit low, but he looks promising. Fire's stronger than Flux! This is Gilliam's replacement - prettier portrait, and a class that's the exact opposite of his! Little low on offense, but should be able to function as a dodgetank! Fiery Fang has six MT. This is my puppy in action. Badass palette, decent damage, and will deal it twice~! WHY. So after hitting the enemy, Ewan's rank dropped from A to C. Oops. In what appears to be stellar AI programming, the soldier attacked Tana instead of Ewan. Congratulations on gaining three stats you don't need! Tana please don't ignore the "dodge" in "dodgetank". . . .this is going to end badly, isn't it? "Hey, check out my shoes." Ewan doesn't fail to disappoint! In a bout of mercy, Ewan isn't 2HKO'd! Geez. I might be able to kill the boss one day. . .ah, who am I kidding. I'll have Rennac soften the boss a little. Uh-oh. Rennac mistook "soften" for "turn into pudding". That's an identity crisis if I saw one! NEW UNITS HP: 40 Mag: 75 Skl: 35 Spd: 0 Luk: 30 Def: 90 Res: 30 Princess can't dance, but boy can he facetank physical hits! I'm going to have to keep him the hell away from the front lines, because he'll be doubled for all eternity. HP: 20 Str: 50 Skl: 0 Spd: 0 Luk: 0 Def: 170 Res: 60 I think his DEF growth is glitched (several promoted units do this). He's going to be carried by his amazing Skill base, which should stay good until the very end. HP: 35 Mag: 5 Skl: 50 Spd: 40 Lck: 65 Def: 0 Res: 35 He'd need his HP and Magic growths constantly, or he'd end up being an abject failure. I don't have the patience to turn him into a Summoner. HP: 60 Str: 50 Skl: 50 Spd: 5 Lck: 50 Def: 10 Res: 110 Mage-tank, assuming she procs a lot of Strength. That Speed's gonna hurt her later on. I hope I can get a better weapon for her! Still, no 0% growths means that she's doing better than the other three! Edited September 19, 2015 by eclipse
Jedi
The adventures of a pile of bones who can kill stuff and a Pupil who wants to go the distance will begin, with the help of some rapier toting priest and their pretty little dog. Soen
Damn that Rennac. He's gonna carry you for a while, if you get screwed with growths. Too bad for his 6 Con, which is going to make is Speed even lower later on. Can he use other weapons? Kyle looks promising. He'll be shit later on, but he has great staff potential and eventual monster bombing if you make him a Bishop.
Crusticus
"Hey, check out my shoes." WHAT ARE THOSE? Sorry about that... anyways, it seems like every Kyle/most lords I've seen in a randomizer is just lame in every way, so having one with decent enough growths (barring speed) is good. Can't say much for the rest of the squad going far except for Rennac.
eclipse
Finished Chapter 2, but don't have time to upload it. Instead, have some observations I've made regarding randomized growths. - I have yet to get a unit whose HP growth breaks 100%. Furthermore, the enemies have abnormally low HP and Speed. I suspect this is because something resets the enemy growth values/HP growths back to 0%, at least with HP, most enemy Speed, and a few instances of Strength. - The exceptions are prepromotes. Take Rennac and his 170% Defense growth. His vanilla Defense growth is 25%. I think there's some sort of overflow that happens, but I don't have time to research how negative integers work in regards to computing ATM. - Enemy prepromotes seem to work a lot better, but there's still some issues with growths, like Entombed's and their 3 DEF (Chapter 12 spoiler). Perhaps this is because I screwed with my growth rates before applying the patch. Mostly, my "fix" was there to make Tethys/Myrrh behave like everyone else, and they mostly do. Would love this bug to be resolved, so I can really swear at the game.
B.Leu
I have to say, the games seems to be very nice to you, then again, considering the handicaps you're giving yourself. Also, LolEwan. :p
TheMoniker
This is great. Healer lord? We're going where no randomizer run has gone before... technically, since every run is different.
AnonymousSpeed
Well, it is technically possible for the same thing to be rolled by two different people. I don't think this is popular enough for it to be particularly likely, but it's certainly feasible for that to happen.

Can't say much for the rest of the squad going far except for Rennac. My Kyle is the prettiest dancer in town (but otherwise he'll be quite useless, indeed). This is great. Healer lord? We're going where no randomizer run has gone before... technically, since every run is different. I have TWO Healer Lords. Finished Chapter 2, but don't have time to upload it. I have my Vanessa with 245% HP and nothing else really, but it's an exception.

eclipse
IMGUR WILL LET ME UPLOAD AGAIN! Chapter 2 The first thing of interest is Moulder. Those bases OMG! Nice stats, awful weight. This is Vanessa. . .somehow, Lute kept her default class! But became bigger. . .and can run faster. . .and yeah. So in the weirdest twist of fate, the Chapter 4 guys showed up in Chapter 2. GG. She comes with an awesome weapon, too~! Ross grew up! That's a typical Knight. . .if Knights had better movement. In a weird twist of time, Ross became Garcia. Hand Axes look pretty good here~! Decent bases, 'cept for Luck. Someone's not going to eat criticals! . . .well, decent for ME. Sucks for this chapter (as someone kept dying), so I did a LOT of RNG abusing, to make sure that the greenies survived. Lute is a tank. Rennac wants one. 23 Skill at this point is totally OP. Rennac goes on clean-up duty. Remember Ewan's godawful levels last chapter? One of them was HP, which made him just bulky enough to survive this Bandit. It has Mag/Res, therefore it is a good level. You continue to be a disappointment. Chapter 3 First, we look at the shops. Slim Swords are sadly outclassed by Iron Swords. See? Iron Lances are. . .uh, cheaper, and have more uses. RIP my wallet. Meh. It's gonna suck if I get hit by this. Now, for the chapter itself! Neimi is replaced by someone who's just as useless. ;/ Colm got manlier. . .girlier. . .I CAN'T TELL! That's MINE. Oh dear. All the Speed in the world doesn't matter if you hit like a spring breeze. EWAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! Gillam traded his cool-looking armor and defenses for. . .actually, I have no clue. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO GET SPEED. Tana's low Strength is beginning to hurt. One step closer to greatness! GO LUTE! GET OUT! Artur tanks the Mercenary like a proper front-line unit! Paper-thin status: confirmed I need another plan. Going for the crit! When Rennac stands there and smiles at you LIKE THAT, you are kind of fucked. Told ya. Perfect! NEW GUYS HP: 0 Str: 65 Skl: 0 Spd: 45 Luk: 55 Def: 80 Res: 0 HE WILL NEVER GET A SHIN LEVEL! HP: 90 Mag: 45 Skl: 65 Spd: 20 Luk: 0 Def: 60 Res: 20 Guess who's getting the Hoplon Guard? HP: 50 Str: 100 Skl: 50 Spd: 60 Luk: 55 Def: 30 Res: 10 Has a growth in every stat, and is everything a Knight shouldn't be. Welcome to the team! HP: 0 Str: 115 Skl: 0 Spd: 0 Luk: 65 Def: 15 Res: 70 It's vanilla Ross! But worse! To the bench with thee! HP: 5 Str: 55 Skl: 70 Spd: 0 Luk: 40 Def: 30 Res: 40 0% Speed is allowed on units who can take a hit. . .so not you. OUT! HP: 95 Mag: 0 Skl: 40 Spd: 165 Luk: 5 Def: 0 Res: 0 -> 3 DEF -> 0% growth -> 0% MAG, too. Nope.

A little late on this reply, but I just wanted to throw out that I had a 180% def Rennac, but I've also had 100%+ HP units on the same patched ROM. Didn't think much of that DEF growth thing until I saw this post, so... I guess that might count as some support to the overflow concept? Maybe some tests can be done with multiple randomized ROMs to see more parallels like that.

eclipse
First off, thanks everyone~! You rock~! I did this to test the randomizer itself, and see what breaks and where. I hope this data point will be useful for debugging~! Gilliam's Training Grounds. . .erm, Chapter 4 Artur starts by cracking a joke. Fodder. Fodder that hits back. Gilliam gets warmed up. Tana finds a scratching post. They're stupidly bulky, hit RES, and Tana doesn't care. HI MYRRH! (notice the lack of unpromoted units up there?) You're a bulky dude if Rennac can't OHKO you at this point. TACTICS! That mage diddling around in back is Artur's replacement. Speed AND Defense would be nice, but I'll take the Defense for now. SPEED. YES! Building walls for no good reason. On one hand, typical Tana level. On the other hand, she can tank magic like no one's business. Down to the last one! Here's the boss. . .bandit. . .Great Lord. . .thingy, who is weak to Horseslayers and Lute. (13 - 13) * 3 = I got this Uh, he doubles? Kyle, you green-haired devil. Artur gets a better level. Meanwhile, Gilliam had better things to do with his time. SWEET~! It's, uh, not bad? (forgot Duessel's bases, sorry) This guy hurts a bit more than the others. "What was this about leaving me in the village, jerkface?" This is Lute's replacement. How charming, game, now please give me something decent with a sword/axe. Gilliam learns as much as he can from the shambling undead. . .which isn't much. Lute is not amused. Not worried at all. HELL YEAH! New guys HP: 20 Mag: 0 Skl: 0 Spd: 0 Luk: 100 Def: 60 Res: 90 That's the worst possible set of zero growths. OUT! HP: 0 Str: 15 Skl: 60 Spd: 0 Luk: 115 Def: 50 Res: 45 Unlike Kyle, he can't hide in back to mitigate his bad Speed. . .and he can't tank very well with base HP. . .AND Gilliam/Artur outclass him. Maybe if he had 45% Str, 115% Spd, 0% Luk, and 15% Res.
eclipse
OMG I HAVE PROPER ACCESS TO SF AND I CAN UPLOAD TO IMGUR! Rennac is OP. . .erm, Chapter 5 Generic soldier hit hard. Axe guys lol. Rennac fanboys. OH SHIT. The prince of Jehanna has been replaced with the prince of Frelia, who has ditched his bow for a gender-locked staff class. Despite the buffs, the soldiers don't hurt that much. Blame the suckiness of Iron Lances. THWOMP. Gilliam continues to be amazing. Could be better, but Kyle needs all the defense he can get! So does Artur. Gilliam's rise to greatness continues. Good stuff from Lute. Typical Tana. ;/ By using Innes as bait, I was able to distract the bandits and save the northern village. That looks like a typical Knight vs. Fighter battle. HELL YES! Steel Lances have been ever-so-slightly nerfed. Steel Bows are unchanged. . .which automatically make them better than their lance counterpart. Or because Rennac is one hell of an OP dude. Rounding out the Steel weapons are Steel Swords. Unchanged, but since Iron Swords got +2 MT, they kinda suck. My knight is a purple-haired girl that wants to set you on fire. The things I do to save a village. . .also note that Rennac with an Iron Bow doesn't auto-hit this guy, even if said guy's in a forest. WTF. MAGIC~! THIS IS NATASHA'S REPLACEMENT! Her bases speak for themselves. That. . .might take a while. Thanks to a whole bunch of factors, I can still OHKO this boss. Since the boss doesn't move, I can sit back and peck at the boss until I'm bored. Or until he dies. Hastening the boss' death. GOOD NIGHT! Pocketed the Guiding Ring, and am off to Ephraim's story~! New guys HP: 35 Str: 0 Skl: 70 Spd: 20 Luk: 50 Def: 85 Res: 60 If she had a kid with Gilliam, that kid would be amazing. The enemies are really bulky, so her 0% Strength growth nullifies whatever else she had going for her. 'sides, Gilliam does it better. HP: 0 Str: 5 Skl: 85 Spd: 55 Luk: 70 Def: 10 Res: 45 These kinds of growths are acceptable on a dancer. However, Innes has a horse, shouldn't be anywhere near the front lines (so his HP growth is moot), and he can pick up everyone in the army (AND Barrier doesn't care about a crappy Magic stat). I'll see how far I can get him, but don't hold your collective breath.

eclipse
Let's see how fast I can type! Chapter 5x Hello Ephraim. . .as the prince of Renais is replaced by the missing prince of Jehanna. lolwhat Seth is now a floating eyeball. My first flying unit! Crimson Eye: Hits like a truck. Once. (it's heavy) Colm grew his hair out! He comes with an inventory that sorta reminds me of a certain mercenary. . . Iron blades are worse than Steel Lances. Our Judas. This confirms that Gilliam will promote to Great Knight, barring movement shenanigans. I'LL TAKE THAT! Even if it's nothing more than a glorified Iron Lance. Seth is going to have a field day. Seth is not going to stomp this chapter. Ephraim food. . .if he didn't have WTD! SETH FODDER. . . .dammit game, just when I was hyped by Orson's inventory! Lightning sucks. Bulky monks. Lucius deconfirmed. The monks are bulkier than the shamans, WTF. Ow. Normally, I'd start Joshua's training, but since he has TWO SWORDREAVERS, I disarmed him so he can bait the soldiers instead. Colm has no such qualms about the weapon triangle! Orson will NOT touch that Shadowkiller! En garde! Zero AS means diddly if you take zero damage! . . .the hell, that's like a Tana level. . . .THE HELL, THAT IS A TANA LEVEL! FML. I swear, if that's his idea of a perfect level. . . Other people who don't care about weapon triangles: Seth I'm gonna pretend that the shaman summoned Seth, because it's less depressing than the truth. Seth is Tana 2.0 confirmed. ;/ "Is that all you're capable of, human?" . . .well shit. That's better! I invoke my right to RNG abuse. "How did this fucking EYEBALL hit me twice?!" Hey Kyle, stop breaking the fourth wall! New guys HP: 0 Str: 55 Skl: 80 Spd: 35 Luk: 20 Def: 0 Res: 65 . . .WTF, it's Ross who traded Skill for Defense. He's a Journeyman 2, though. . . .let's see how everything else pans out before I make my final decision. HP: 40 Str: 0 Skl: 145 Spd: 0 Luk: 10 Def: 50 Res: 40 Never mind, his growths are worse than Tana's. Normally, he'd be benched outright, but flying magic sniping might be useful in certain situations. HP: 50 Str: 90 Skl: 40 Spd: 40 Luk: 45 Def: 20 Res: 45 GET ON MY TEAM, NOW! HP: 45 Str: 0 Skl: 25 Spd: 105 Luk: 35 Def: 15 Res: 95 He might've seen some combat before being retired (because lol5moveand14strforever). He just sped the process up. eclipse
Chapter 6 . . .is bullshit. Oh, right, screenshots! Speaking of, you'll see some level-ups and stats not align. That's a testament to how often I reset this chapter! Physical attackers, got it. These guys drank Red Bull. Their Strength is still threatening to my team. ;/ Dat HP. Lute's gonna be busy. This is the kind of shit my party had to go through. Fortunately, Halberds aren't that accurate. I LOST THIS GLORIOUS LEVEL TO A RESET! Where's an exorcist when you need one? I NEED that Defense! He needs it, too! Though he was the only unit in this chapter to not die, ever. I'LL TAKE IT! Lute and Rennac rescued Innes and Kyle. "But why would you bring Innes?" Torch spam. Remember, I banned most other forms of grinding! That's a perfect level from Artur! Normally, that's a lame level. Normally, I don't use Kyle to fucking tank. ;/ Despite her stats, she's extremely good against the soldiers! Tana's brother decides to show me the power of Shin. HEY JERKFACE, THAT HURT! Gilliam decided to learn from it anyway. . . .and then I had enough and had Rennac RNG-critkill him. Yes, I lost the villagers. No, I don't care, my guys survived! Chapter 7 GIMME! These bosses are insane. Dark magic no longer sucks! How to disappoint with a four stat level-up: The Tana Edition She can still tank mages. Artur does it better. SUPPORTS! Lute seems to like him. Rennac shows off an amazing level. . .well, amazing for him. This is the closest Gilliam will have to a blank level, until he maxes Strength. That's better! STRENGTH! Gilliam's insane Strength allows him to neatly ORKO this archer. Kyle liked talking to Lute, too. RNG abuse is go. I forgot why I took this screenshot? Not marrying you. eclipse
Let's see how fast I can post this~! Chapter 8 These are the tanks I have to deal with. Thank goodness their Res growth is crap. Lute gains one of two stats that I care about. RENNAC, FUCK YEAH! Ephraim/Joshua's forces show up, and Colm gets this level. See what I said about Lute, and apply it here! Why did I bring you along again? Cavaliers are tankier than Myrmidons, but have the same shit for Res problems. I didn't want to deal with the reinforcements head-on, so I bumrushed everyone to Ephraim/Joshua's position and had them set up. Sniping, courtesy of Seth's 22 MT versus Res. THANKS. Now that Joshua has a proper axe, he can take revenge on these jerks. Halberd OP. Tana gained Defense! Not horribly threatening, thank goodness. BTW, that's a level 8 Archer with 14 Str. Not as OP as Zeiss, but getting there! Kyle gets a pretty damn good level. Rennac is going to have a field day. +3 MT to a Silver Lance, be afraid! I'm REALLY GOOD at this! It's, uh, Skill? Lute gets the other stat I care about. Th-that's as good as you get. . . Shamans are relatively bulky, so it's a testament to Elfire that Lute can 2RKO this guy. Oh, and they hit like a damn truck, at 12 Mag. I think I need to start rigging Speed. Let the battle of attrition begin! Everything is an even number except for CON. asdfa;ljdf;ajfkad THAT'S MORE LIKE IT! Tana dislikes the word "attrition". And that's sexy. I decided I'd use supports in my attempt to not die. Fire/Water isn't that stellar for both Kyle and Lute (Lute wants offense, Kyle wants defense, and this combo sucks at both). I'll take the extra accuracy! GO GILLIAM GO! THAT'S STILL GREAT! Best tactician, right here. Eir sums up my thoughts of the game so far. Route split time~! But I already chose, so tee-hee~!
