shadowofchaos
I'm wary about this part. 「オーブ」を賭けて You "wager" orbs. In what context that is, I have no idea... but the wording makes me a little uneasy.

Pretty sure Japan, where gambling is explicitly illegal in most contexts and why Pachinko is/was so popular. And why there's a lot of murmering about attempts to legalize gambling (Though i think in that case it's just for hotel casinos) In fact, there was a type of gacha game that had to be completely changed because it was deemed too close https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complete_gacha iirc, this is also why gacha games tell you rarity rates and probably why Heroes has the guaranteed 5* thing. So because of that I don't see Nintendo allowing a literal betting pool into the game, I'm guessing "wager" is not what we think it is. At the very least if you put an orb in, I'm guessing you will always get that orb back.

As in, you're not wagering the orbs you already have but what you could potentially get. That's how @FEHeroes_News has it worded.
Othin
I'd imagine they're probably referring to having an orb cost to play the event for a chance to win more orbs. That sounds annoying, but would it qualify as any more "gamble"-y than the rest of the game?

Essentially to circumvent "gambling" you're wagering rewards you could have gotten. It still makes me uneasy. Which is why I put wager in quotes. However, there are two issues with the idea at any rate. A) If the map is fixed, you can basically grind infinite orbs by using a fixed strategy such as mkv's. B) If the map is random, it risks falling into the trap of being considered too close to the illegal kind of gambling.
Alkaid
Sounds like a recipe for rage fuel if it's in any of the forms suggested. Hopefully it's not as it sounds.

That's what I thought at first, but I read it again, and since the whole phrase should be 報酬の「オーブ」を賭けて, I realized it was just their way of saying you're challenging Alm and Celica for the orb rewards. Lushen
The other possibility (I hope not) is you use orbs to enter the BHB instead of stamina.

I addressed this previously. Short version: if it's fixed, that can generate an infinite amount of orbs. If it's random, it's a little too close to gambling. And if the orbs are finite, it's a deathtrap. That suggestion wasn't in the other post, but I can add it now, I guess.

Xaos Steel Wing
So if I understand correctly, the Bond Battles are basically Grand Hero Battles except the reward is orbs instead of exclusive units. New modes are always welcome, but this seems like just a variation of the GHBs.
Zeo
The idea of gambling is too sketchy and catery to the top tiers. Even if the difficulty is infernal. You've got top players with perfect Reinhardts and it costs 3 orbs with a 5-6 orb reward and they're farming into the 100s. We just have to see how it actually is. The idea of wagering orbs is nonsense for F2P. Happy Independence Day everybody. Edited July 4, 2017 by Zeo
Lushen
I'm surprised we don't have anymore information. It's not like IS to tease us with something and not explain what it is...oh wait... In all seriousness, I'm more interested in this than v1.5 just because I have no idea what this could mean. I'm excited for its potential, and scared for the same reason. mewyeon
I'd only play this at the lower levels, if you have to wager orbs. Otherwise, I'm not about to risk it lol I'd rather just use the orbs I have to summon more peeps. Edited July 4, 2017 by mewyeon

Just like previous special maps that aren't Hero Battles or Grand Hero Battles. I am pretty sure (and hopeful) that the theories about gambling are simply reading too much into words with little context. Otherwise, I blame Twitter limitations. I guess they didn't want to bother having multiple tweets to explain more. Edited July 4, 2017 by VincentASM
