Oh that's just rancid.

THAT'S JUST FUCKING RANCID

Elbert's gonna lose his head again because the fucking child won't move out of the way.

This map is so bad.

It's obviously an oversight lol. Those castles are supposed to spawn enemie to impede your progress, otherwise it's just a boring-ass walk forward until the pirates. But since there's not even a boss there at the start (like in the first castle) you can just seize them ahead of time. If there was a boss at least it'd be like a reward for being able to kill them just with the fliers, but as it is...

For fuck's

FUCKING

sake.

I forgot to attack Titus with Slayne one turn. Because of this, I need to block Athol one more turn to get Bhuj. And then Elbert dies again.

You know what? I don't fucking care. I'd rather get the Bhuj. The ring of vows is garbage and so is this map. Go fuck yourself.

a pretty big oversight if so. Like, anyone would naturally use fliers here to atleast try and test the waters, right?

I do consider the map to be pretty damn bad tbh...but so do i think about all Zade late game maps in VS1. Bow Sigurd's maps are so much more fun

Didn't get shit for sparing Samantha and the kid.

I should've fucking butchered the kid.

What a garbage map that was. It makes the worst VS2 has to offer look like the average Berwick Saga map.

That's why I don't get why there isn't at least a bossman on the castles. Surely Kaga can't have just expected the player to break the map oh right Thracia 776 is a game he made.

I would contest that but then, his second post-split map is the one where you first avoid killing enemies, and second run through 1-tile corridors until you get to the boss, so.

...Eh. VS2 can't come soon enough.

Actually, it's funny I should say Road to Deliverance makes "the worst VS2 has to offer" look good, considering the worst VS2 has to offer was, in my opinion at the time I played it, a pretty similar map to Road to Deliverance. It has you running to reach specific spots of the map within time limits, with events happening as you go and reinforcements appearing in your path to hinder you. It can also get completely broken by fliers.

Except, you haven't any NPCs to escort in that one, it's home to Kaga's most bizarre, hilarious character development and the main gimmick is a lot more memorable and less annoying than "NPC Athol is useless and you can't even heal her when she steps in the range of an arbalester." Not great, due to some unfortunate terrain choices and lame usage of reinforcements, but it beats this crap.

There are a lot of enemies on the plateau who are more than capable of endangering Athol. Besides, you have to clear the plateau anyway to ensure Zade can later safely enter the tower without issue. And fliers taking care of those castles means they have less time doing anything else, whether it's supporting the charge or treasure hunting in the North.
Frankly, I always block Athol as long as I can get away with before moving on. I find that I need all the turns that I can get.

Of course one way to cheese it would be to sacrifice one of the towns and simply block Athol indefinitely, while you clear out everything ahead. The first town has fairly low stacks, just some corrupt overseer getting away with ill-gotten cash.

Welp, guess Elbert won't get to show off his Provoke skill yet again.

Sparing Samantha would be rough anyway since she keeps healing the pirate boss.
Considering she is actively helping child slavers, I am not particularly inclined to pull any punches against her.
Her kid is generally not causing any harm. But if by chance she does cause any problems, oh well...

Never actually seen her teleport in front of Athol, though. I thought she just always teleports adjacent to random blue units.

Honestly, this might just get me to look at the boat map in VS2 with kinder eyes. Sure it's cringe, but at least there I'm in full control of the cringe. I don't have to deal with the green unit.

...Then again, there's the graveyard... Here I can at move at full speed throughout. Ah, we'll see. I'm so looking forward to that VS2 replay. It'll be nice to talk more freely about it too, last times I was under oath of silence.

I mean, that jerkass Pandolf gets to keep his laurels either way. If Elbert dies Athol swears to investigate him, but if he doesn't she just leaves. And Elbert already sent his brigade off, there's nothing stopping Pandolf from doing the same thing he does after she leaves.

Still probably better to save him but honestly, as far as stakes go, I feel like letting Tasha get Cecily'd or letting the pirates get away with 30 fucking children is a lot worse.

That being said, yeah, the first town is probably the least harmful to fail. Kinda poopy not to be able to eat the rich but it's better than the Kaga situations going on elsewhere.

Do you need to talk to her with a flier or something so the game counts them as "spared"? Because I didn't touch them and I got nothing. Then again, they also didn't have any scenes, even though I recall them being supposed to have some dialogue... Ah, fucked if I know.

At least this time, I was able to see it, since I had a save on time to wrap up before he died. It didn't happen, but I saw it.

...someone way back while I was playtesting VS2 suggested he might be an intentional reference to Berwick Elbert, with how much he loves provoking people. I wouldn't be surprised, honestly.

She does, she just happened to teleport to the people standing near Athol, right in front of Athol. Twice in a row. I'll admit Zayid didn't need to be standing there the second time, but the first time I had absolutely no other choice, Athol would've died to the ballistician or the pirate if I hadn't made those moves.

Nah. There is no reward for not murdering any children. It's just a matter of conscience.

I put Seadall in the full Sommie suit. Watching him dance like that for the first time was an experience.

NGL his default casual attire is better. Still, the monocle alone elevates him so much.

Dressing up in this game in general is a lot of fun. Too bad IntSys decided the workout minigame was a more important use of their time and resources.

"They would've needed to make low-res models for every unit/attire combination, too much trouble."

Then... Find a different, more cost-efficient way to handle the overworld models? Instead of dooming poor ol' Pinet to uselessness?

These so called low-res models look better than the normal 3H ones and people were fine with 3H

Scratch the mini games that no one uses, put the resources into dolling up XD

Most certainly. The game does not seem to be lacking in references. Like the dialog that Neira gave to get the guard at the great yurt to stand down seems to be based on the one Shiida gave to Navarre.
Which I guess explains why it's so overly dramatic, with her telling him to strike her down if he does not want to listen.

In the desert map there is one house that tells you that there was a guy running into the desert shouting about the wrath of his thunder sword and who at this point likely died miserable. Which could be seen as a general reference to the FE3 tendency of bosses to dramatically announce the weapon they are using, but is likely a more specific Berwick Saga reference to a Thunder Sword mini-boss in chapter 7 who also does this stick, but also happens to be more susceptible to captures to underline how much of an overconfident braggart he is.

Haldyn had to be referencing Vega with his "Don't stand behind me, woman!" line. Except that he is of course a complete dork about it.

Yeah. If Tasha gets kidnapped again, her bakery in chapter 18 won't appear.

Can I just point out that everything that happened since Venecia was a means to the end of finding a route back to Meledia? And getting kidnapped allowed Tasha to get there much faster somehow.
Granted, when planning the trip through the desert, they did talk about how moving thousands of troops is of course different than moving just a few people. On top of establishing that outlaws know about routes that are not common knowledge.

I'm pretty sure I missed that both times. Or maybe I just missed it this time and forgot I did it the first time.

...Honestly that dude should've been recruitable. Has a unique face and all. There's no prepromoted axe infantry in the game.

Haha, oh yeah, Qadi. I remember him. He's funny. I don't know if the zephyr sword guy is a specific reference to anything, though - just a cheeky way to set up the skeleton that gives you the zephyr sword later on the map.

Bosses referencing their weapon is a staple of the series. Pretty sure there's a couple in Vestaria too. I'd think a better way to reference them would be to... Well, have a boss loudly reference their weapon. Bonus points if they subvert it by making it just a generic-ass weapon.

That's the one I always got, of course. It's very overt.

Yes, the point is that moving a whole-ass army wouldn't be quite so easy. Still, it is really funny. Maybe Zade should've just gotten the lot of them kidnapped.

If you're going to do this, Guardian, set aside 3 or 4 hours. Endgame 1 alone is extremely long and RD isn't moving any faster.

12 hours ago, Interdimensional Observer said:

Well, RD is, for better or worse, a little overstuffed.😆

You've only got the Endgame left. A few words of advice.:

  • Try to do it in one sitting, would probably feel better that way.
  • Buy whatever you need, strip anyone you won't be using of their skills to redistribute them. Nihil and Parity are the two you'll particularly want.
  • Bring your best, or your favorites, whichever you prefer.

...And hopefully it'll be enjoyable.😀

I'll probably do it once I get off work today, if not after some errands downtown.
