I ventured all the way back into the dungeon thinking I could get the empty message for the chest we left behind but it had disappeared. Well then.

Did something happen?

My girlfriend of 6 years left me abruptly and suddenly even after I move to a new country to be with her...you know, the usual.

I was going to sit through the credits of Bloodstained for an achievement. Then I did some googling and I realized why there's an achievement just for sitting through the credits.

The credits in Bloodstained are over an hour long. Holy fucking shit.

Well, that's it for Bloodstained. Took me a little over 50 hours, though around 40 of those were spent failing, which is... funny, if nothing else.

What can I say. That was absolutely wonderful. Excellent game all around, lots of variety in equipment, awesome spells, great visuals, a godly soundtrack, extremely fun bosses (for the most part), an excellent fun filled with unique areas and fun challenges... Honestly, it's just all around amazing. I had so much fun with it, and while at the end I did start feeling the burnout a bit, that was mostly because of my self-imposed challenge to get all the boss medals. And then Steam didn't even give me a sad little achievement for my troubles. Meh...

About the only fault I can find with it is that you can tell in a couple of places that they had to rush because they were running out of time and budget. For example, you know the swimming shard goof? There were plans to place a boss in that area. Focalor, the only boss from Curse of the Moon who didn't make it to Ritual of the Night. It's likely that this boss would've held the swimming shard... but they ran out of time, so they instead put the thing on a mob and the area was left without a boss. A shame. Also, the final two areas are a previous area made bigger and a really samey-looking ice cavern. Apparently there were plans for a casino area, hence the boss in the big area. I do think they managed to save it decently, those two areas are all right, but still, you can tell.

However, these little flaws are but triffles in the midst of an excellent game. It gets my wholehearted recommendation to anyone who enjoys the genre even a little bit.

And now, a little something I made: A tier list for all the bosses, based on my experience beating them flawlessly. There's a boss tier list online, but I didn't find it until after I made my own ugly layout, so eh, bear with it. No big arguments here, I just ranked them based on the enjoyment I had. This list will no doubt upset @Armagon. Beware, major Bloodstained spoilers here.

Time to leave your PC on the credits while you go do something else!

And now I need a new game. Not sure I want to play two FEs at once, so what do you guys think? Bloodstained was a recommendation, one that worked out stupendously, so I'm willing to hear y'all out again.

Nope. I am not you, Sooks. I am willing to spend 50 hours of my life trying to beat bosses without taking a hit for a shiny medal of pixels, but I will not do this. That achievement can go suck a lemon.

Touhou Luna Nights is calling your name, my friend.

Metroidvania a la Bloodstained with all the banging Touhou music you know and love.

Tight controls, lovely pixel art, and fun bosses.

And it's conveniently on sale right now.

Oh god, I'm so sorry. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.

Well, I'm back from work. Time to write my thoughts on DS, then.

DRAT! I was looking for the Power Bombs, got into a room with poison gas, and died unable to escape it in time or figure whatever the heck I was supposed to do! There goes about an hour of play time I think. I'll drop the game for the rest of today, I'll look up a guide to see exactly what I'm supposed to be doing.😑

Reaching the Phazon Mines marks the beginning of the endgame for MP1, I hazard. The Space Pirates are showing it, since I'm invading their central base now and they're sending everything at me. A few of their computers said "The Hunter is here, all hands on deck! Whoever kills her gets a nice bounty. -And try to keep her armorsuit of unknown technology intact for future study". Although their much-vaunted experimental Elite Pirates weren't very elite, the one that busted out of its glass died in two Super Missiles if I counted right, barely scratching me before that. It's the Wave and Power Troopers who are laying the hurt on me, more so the Waves since they can't be Super Missile'ed and the Wavebuster is prohibitively expensive. Ice Troopers are easy, freeze & one ordinary Missile smashes them to pieces. I also read two of the three Pirate Data that got rewritten in later releases -which I'll have to rescan for now.

I think I'm at 9 approaching 10 hours? I've 8 Energy Tanks not counting the one I simply cannot get, and 125 Missiles now, halfway there -but I know I've missed a few of these. Energy Tanks seem to be less hidden than Missiles- which is quite ideal. So far, I've found only one Chozo Artifact not the freebie. I remember where another one is according to my now-gone guide, but I'm intentionally delaying on it to get an upgrade that'll make it easier to obtain.

Hmmm... See, I just beat a metroidvania after spending 50 hours on it and 15 bucks isn't something I mind missing a sale on too much.

That being said, it does look good. It'll go on my wishlist tomorrow. But right now I'd like something a little different.

Ahhhahahhahhaha... Well, okay. I can't argue with that. I gotta appreciate that you used my own weapons against me.

...then again, TWO can play at that game!

Not really sure, frankly. Whatever makes me go "oh yeah, that's the one." Which is the method I follow most of the time.

Gotcha. If you do play it, I hope you enjoy it.

------------

Over halfway through Yuito's story, and I'm thoroughly enjoying Scarlet Nexus. The story is solid, characters are (mostly) likable, music is dope, gameplay is fun - all around great game so far.

One thing to note - I like how there's bond episodes (the conversations are very nice), but no actual romance mechanic. Just chats between teammates. There's definitely romantic implications in some instances, but nothing like FE or Trails where the MCs can make almost everybody their waifu/husbando of choice.

Anyway, speaking of great music.

I agree with the comments. Big Sonic vibes from this track.

The only one I got so far was Lifegiver, purely because how could I not notice the little room attached to the Tower of Light? And I knew I needed the Gravity Suit.

I'm holding off on the search, even if I probably could find more ATM. Once Samus has everything, then I know nothing will be off-limits, any wandering is bound to bear immediate results, no roadblocks where I'll have to come back later. That, and the more time spent with the Plasma Beam and the stylish final suit, the better.😎

Awesome, well I wont spoil on how to find any of em, then!

Nothing like preparing for the search!

Don't suppose you'd be feeling up to trying Kiwami? (Or potentially Kiwami 2.)

Was alright, I suppose! I keep forgetting to eat before my shifts, so I end up spacing out, but I really enjoy being a cashier.

Alternatively, Ori and The Will Of The Wisps is supposed to be amazing, and the soundtrack is S-tier.
