As such, she was on my computer, me sitting next to her, going through my college account. Nothing wrong there. Then she opens a new tab and, would you know it, decides to check the history (she says she was looking for the college website, but I know the truth). Normally, this wouldn't be an issue. Honestly, I'm a good girl who doesn't visit naughty sites. Often (don't start, Mori). It just so happens that last night was the first night in months that I happened to get bored enough to visit one of "those" sites. And yes, only one (and not for long either, but w/e, almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades). So of course, she sees it at the top of my history. Who knows what thoughts went through her head? What's worse is that I'm part of a very religious family (though I don't consider myself religious), but luckily my mother seems to see me as a bit older than she used to and didn't get very angry (her reaction, or lack thereof, was actually quite surprising). She mostly disregarded it (mostly), continued the college stuff, and didn't mention it again (yet). Seriously, what kind of stupidly bad luck was that? One could say it was my fault, and I wouldn't argue against that, but my mother could go through 99% of the files on my machine and I wouldn't care. She'd find things she'd probably think are very strange for me to have and would be surprised to see but nothing I'd actually care whether or not she saw. Same with the rest of my internet browsing history for the past, like, 2 years (as far as the actual sites go. I wouldn't want her reading some of the things I've said on the internet...). It got me so worked up I needed to write these four paragraphs about it. And so, as the title implies, I open this topic for others to post about things they were caught with that they didn't want the other person to see/know/etc. It's in General because I want people to actually post semi-seriously, but if the mods want it in FftF I don't mind. After that, she yelled at me and made me cry. Then I found out I didn't make chamber choir the next day. ... So I assumed karma must have hated me. ... She hasn't discovered anything else since. Luckily, my parents don't know how to look up the browser history, and they really respecct my privacy. I got this friend that looks up those kind of things all the time he comes to my house. Never been caught myself and it doesn't look like it's going to happen since I'm the only one at my place with decent enough knowledge of computers and I lock my comp each and every time I'm not on it.. Then again, my parents probably wouldn't make too big of a deal about it - if they even bothered to check the browser history. Then again, I do have my own laptop, and I'm the only one on it. When I don't have my laptop (like now - it's currently broken), I just avoid suspicious sites. I'm still here, but I doubt they'll care about a fairly innocuous site like this. And, there's always the clear browsing history command. Short version: I really don't set myself up to have to worry about this sort of thing. However i know one of my olders brothers doesn't care (most likely the oldest) Because i have seen google history (He stopped though[thanks god because our computer was getting viruses ]). Most of the "research" is done on the wii, and you can't see history there :P. And i susually try to erase the websites i have been on without erasing the whole history, I don't know whether it erases the whole cookies or not, but when i type the website again it doesn't appear as if i had typed the Sere. Each time he'd sit down next to me and give me the token maturity lecture. After he was done speaking, he'd always say something like "I'm going now. I trust you to stay away from that stuff", and I'd respond "Okay, dad. I won't look at those websites again." I was lying, of course, and went right back to what I was doing as soon as I was sure he was safe distance away. Speaking of getting caught, I once "caught" my parents having sex. My mother did read over my shoulder when I was having an IM conversation with a friend and it was about a pretty attractive girl in school so...yeah...that was pretty annoying. The only time I remember doing it was...back when I was 12 or 13, I think? I had seen the word "hentai" on some website and wondered what it was, did a search and came upon the image of a monstrous penis. I was traumatized, but not caught. I mean, besides the fact my dad likes asking me completely random things I wouldn't know, nor care about, so that he can show he still knows a thing or two. As for the subject... My history is now set to automatically purge whenever I close out IE. After my mother told me snooped though my sister's IMs and whatnot once, I haven't exactly kept much evidence around just in case... They see my conversations I have on AIM/BBM. They just ask if the girl is cute. Hell, my brother recently linked me to a couple sites. As for my mom, I never got caught with anything.
