Pedro
personally I am making Edelgard-Monk and then branching off to either priest or mage, mage because she gains a skill I think from reason, and priest because it's ironic seeing as she's all like the crests are to blame, and faith is her weakness, suboptimal, yes! ironic, maybe. Dimitri-Cavalier it just fits him like a glove he is good with riding and as far as I am concerned cavs rock Claude-some level of Archer and if given the option bow flier. Rose482
I believe they each might have a canon class of their own, but I will give this a try anyway ^_^ Edelgard: Hmmm....I think it would be funny to make her mage, just because she sorta looks like Micaiah. And I do love mage lords. Also looking at what Edelgard's canon weapons might be, making her a mage would be a total 180 turn, which would sorta be funny. Now WHAT type of mage to make her would be the question, I'm still not really sure how mage classes are split up in FE16 though :/ Dimitri: I would want him to keep using lances, I think they fit him well. Maybe a Griffon Rider? Although I think those use axes, I guess I'm not sure, but I would like for him to be a flier. Claude: I think he would make a cool looking swordmaster tbh, I'm not sure why....but like think about it, he would totally be a fun swordmaster. redtutel
Apparently, Eldegard is good with armor, and Demitri is good with riding, so I'll make them a General and a Paladin. There are rumors that Claud is good at flying, so I'll make him a wvyern rider or pegasus knight that uses bows.
Shrimpica
I think for first playthrough imma go with ''Canon'' classes
Ivy Wife Supremacy
Canon classes obviously feels right. after all 3 or possible 4 paths are done don't know yet atm. Edited May 20, 2019 by Dorothea Joestar Arnold
Maimishou
Depends on which class I think looks better on them. Might even leave them in their basic class if I don't like the way any of their promoted classes look.
Owain Dark
I make Edelgard sword locked, Dimitri, if possible, an helbardier. Claudes going to be my healer lord.

With gender-locked classes returning, I'm going to guess Pegasus Knight is going back to female-exclusive.
vanguard333
We don't really have a say on which classes are the lord classes, do we? I would think that the lord classes are unique classes: Empress for Edelgard, Prince for Dimitri, and Duke for Claude. …Oh; you mean what classes will we pick for the lord characters. Fuzzlekins
I don’t care much about Canon classes. Regardless of everyone’s preferences, I’m putting them on a flying mount. Alternatively with Dimitri I’m half tempted to make him a fist-fighting class since that seems funny. I like the idea of making the characters excel in things that go against their image. Druplesnubb
I'll make Byleth a Mercenary because of their backstory, at least until their unique class is unlocked. Edited May 21, 2019 by Druplesnubb
YingofDarkness
I'm going to go canon classes for the lords. I'll have my fun messing around with the classes of the other characters but it only feels right to have the three main lords be in the class they are meant to be in. Mirron
Honestly hard to say. Depends on how much diversity there is in general, but I'll probably just try messing around with Reason/Faith builds for them and see what I get.
Quiyonce
I really hope Wyvern!Claude is a thing. Especially if he keeps his bow cause I'd definitely go with that
NegativeExponents-
I think I’ll keep Edelgard with axes and make her either a barbarian, general, or wyvern lord. Swordmasters are inherently cool and Dimitri needs some of that coolness factor so swordmaster it is. Or maybe an assassin if those are in the game. I want Claude to keep his bow but I also want him to punch things so any class that can do both would be great. If there isn’t any then idk maybe I’ll make him a Pegasus Knight if it isn’t gender locked.
whase
For my first playthrough I'll just stick with what the game pushes me towards. Though if I see the chance I will give them all a little bit of magic, if that's even possible. I heard Edelgard might get pushed towards armor knight, not sure if I'll do that though. HappyHawlucha.
Given the game seems to be pushing towards Armoured Axe Edel; Cavalry Lance Dimitri and Bow Flying Claude that will most likely be their canon promotions so I'll just give them that. ArsSanctum
Edelgard: I'm fine with going down her unique class tree, which we saw a glimpse of in the last trailer oh so long ago, or a Wyvern Lord (she has the hair and the right eye color and even the right color scheme, may as well just make her Daenerys) Dimitri: Paladin or unique class tree. Alternatively some sort of infantry lance unit. Claude: Mounted/Flier bow, or unique class. Byleth: Unique class tree or Hero, like their dad (given how Mercenary looks, Jeralt seems to be in the Hero class)
Spectrum
Edelgard: Probably canon. Might make her a Wyvern Lord or a Berserker. Claude: Canon Dimitri: Paladin or Great Knight. Byleth: Mercenary
Azz
If the lords have their own unique promotions, I'll go with them on first playthroughs. If they don't have unique promos, I'll just make them go whatever class specialises in their weapons.
May
The first several times I would probably make them unique promotion classes and then probably make everyone fliers as my endgame file.
ElectiveToast
I’m going Blue Lions and making everyone swordsman in the first playthrough. Second will be a bandit-ish Golden Deer army.
CyberNinja
I'm half tempted to make Edelgard and her entire house some form of bandit army with her as the bandit queen. They're already an empire so with my leadership and teaching I'll have them a Fire Emblem cliche in no time.

This genuinely looks like a promoted version of her Noble outfit

It doesn't seem very armoured tho like many people thought Edelgard would be like considering her proficiency in heavy armour, so I'm assuming each of the main three will probably remain infantry in their unique classes
