Rules (adapted from Integrity's)

- Ratings are for Normal Mode.

- Votes need some explanation regarding their gameplay performance to be counted. If somebody else said what you want to already, quote them explicitly.

+/- ≤1 point extra regarding personality/appearance is encouraged, but no more. If you exercise your bias privileges, please do so explicitly.

- Votes are made out of 10. You cannot rate a unit above 10 or below 0.

- The rating topic will be updated whenever I feel like it, but I will try to allow at least 24 hours for each topic. They will generally be updated at around noon EST.

- A character being inferior relative to another character does not explicitly reduce their rating.

- Characters do not get credit for recruiting others or allowing access to side quests.

- Assume that the character in question is being recruited.

- Characters do not get credit for bringing items.

- I reserve the right to ignore any votes which are not well-supported.

- You may allow a character to use scrolls (and adjust their rating appropriately) so long as it is reasonable (you may debate what constitutes "reasonable" if you feel people may disagree with you). You cannot arbitrarily increase a unit's score by arguing that they may exclusively use half a dozen scrolls for themself. In general, scrolls will probably not add more than +1 to a character's overall rating.

- Warp skipping has an impact on scores in so far as "Safy has an high base staff rank". Nanna would score lower than Safy because of her lower rank, but no chapter is explicitly said to be skipped. You can't get Warp and then suddenly say every character after doesn't exist or requires turns to recruit. Something could be said of Xavier, or Conomore/Amalda who are in an escape chapter where Leaf starts next to the escape point.

A solid unit all around, but unfortunately there are lots of options for swordfighters who are rather similar and all want access to the ranged swords. Sunlight Sword is pretty nice, though, and makes him especially strong indoors and helps a bit with his fragility. 7.5/10

Despite being part of the rather common infantry swordsmen, Shiva offer a lot to make him superior to his competition. His offensive stats are great, his somewhat low 6 Strength being helped by a PCC of 4 and a solid 45% growth. Defensively, his low bases are patched up by the Sun Sword skill, which means he requires less healing than most, especially when his avoid is rather high. A few levels to get his good HP, Luck and Defense growths going and he shouldn't require much healing, if at all. After promotion, a movement of 7 allows him to be excellent indoors while still great outdoors, while the added Continue skill is just icing on his wondeful offense. A scroll with some Magic could be helpful, but isn't 100% required.

He has no weapon rank issues whatsoever. From the start, he competes with Fergus as one of best magic sword user, his PCC pretty much negating his low Magic. He can also use the Hero Sword or the Killer Sword he starts with. Promotion puts him to A if he wasn't there already.

A minor point I could note is that the combination of 4 PCC and Sun Sword makes him an excellent gladiator, which means he can be a great source of income throughout the game. He can even have Saphy around for support, while she either heals him at close range or uses one of the common Physic staves to heal frontliners. Again, minor point most people won't bother with, but since gold is scarce and it's free levels, it's something one should consider.

Excellent offensive unit indoors and outdoors, lower maintenance than most considering Sun Sword. Even good at getting cash.

9/10.

-Great PCC

-Great Defense growth. Especially for a Merc.

-Sun Hit makes him great in enemy phase when his skill is higher that he has a 50% chance to grow in.

-He can even support with Safy (another great unit) making this a wonderful support combination.

Someone to use. Definitely.

8.8/10

Me likey. But I like most of the swordmaster type characters. Hmm.

He makes a great unit for enemies to suicide on in EP, with a combination of high dodge and Sunlight. Usually caps important stats quite easily too. And he's a really good indoor unit.
