  1. not enough tbh seriously too often, especially too many Love is Over's
  2. Sorry if I misunderstood your comment, but that's exactly what I did. Duma had 42 HP left and - after reading your comments - Alm should do the finisher 12 + 12 x 3 = 48 damage to him. (could do 12 damage to Duma) But as I said he didn't crit him in his second attack despite the crit would kill him. That's the point I don't understand, and why I still think it's luckbased. Anyways I've beaten Duma in my second attempt. The playstyle was pretty much the same. Four units trapped him and in two turns he could be brought down to 45 HP. However this time Alm decided to crit him with his second attack. (Clair support + Celica bond support) (12 + 3 x 12 > 45 HP) I still don't know the gimmick of this.
  3. Apparently I didn't delete the second part of my post in time. It's owed to the taken frustration. My post was way too drastic. Echoes wasn't my favorite FE game for sure regarding on the mechanics, but not as awful as I represented it in my previous post. The story and characters's presentation are great actually. Anyways I've beaten Duma... with the same strategy as in my first run.The only difference was that I beat the Medusa sorcerer. However this time Alm decided to crit Duma with his second attack. Still I have no idea if this fight is luckbased or not. I got plenty of explanations, but honestly I couldn't understand any of them yet.
  4. long story short And if further questions should come, yes, I can't handle frustration in VGs as well as most other people here. I'm honest Echoes was a mistake for me unfortunately. And I'm hoping for a Gamestop trade-in again for Persona 5 where I can give away Echoes. I sacrificed my beloved Devil Survivor for Echoes. :.(
  5. long story short And if further questions should come, yes, I can't handle frustration in VGs unlike most other people here.
  6. I got an isomnia and have a migraine now thanks to Echoes. It never has been my intention to play VGs with the target to get health issues, but this game did a great job in this. Honestly it never happened, if I didn't see the stupid Gamestop offer in my e-mails.
  7. More notes of my playthrough playing on normal Duma healed himself by 40 HP; it was definitely not the Medusa sorcerer gave Alm crit boost by Celica standing next to him and Clair support; Faye died unfortunately So I really have to count on my luck. lol What a retarded bossfight. I'm still thinking about if I forgot to do sth. elementary before the fight.
  8. Level: 12 HP: 44 attack: 22 skill: 21 speed: 21 luck: 19 defense: 15 resistance: 5 I totally forgot to mention one important thing which made it impossible for me: Duma heals 40 HP in enemy phase. Alm can 4RKO him and take at least one hit, but since he's healing every turn, it's not possible without a crit. I'll head off now so I'll reply later. I appreciate each post from you and all the further ones. Thanks!
  9. These explanations are nice but it doesn't really help me further. Crits are still required. Also I used Gradvius trading to bring him down. It needed two turns and one of my peggies, Faye, died in enemy phase. In the second turn I did it again till I saw that attacks were uneffective against him. (~42 HP) Then it was up to Alm...
  10. Thanks for your answers despite my main problem is still not solved yet. It seems to be really luckbased right here. Or did / do I have to do sth. with the Falchion?
  11. He didn't do it. I think Duma had 42 HP left. Alm could 2 x 12 damage => 48 damage with a crit. But he didn't crit, much less threw away a shield. Side question: Have Jedah and the other mini bosses to be killed? Jedah, one of the two witch bosses, and the Medusa sorcerer were alive when I fought Duma.
  12. What is shield drop? I did it actually till he started to move. Also that's not the point. I just would like to know how Alm can solo him? I even placed Celica next to him - heared it's an instant crit in FE2 - but it doesn't work here.
  13. I'm asking this because it's impossible for me to beat the final boss under normal conditions.
  14. FE5's capturing + FE10's game mechanics + Conquest's map design + FE4's story + Echoes's supports and deathquotes = The PERFECT Fire Emblem game
  15. The deathquotes show already how much effort and love IS invested in the plot and character cast. Thankfully no more empty lines like I'm finished or Alm, stay safe. When Catria died in my run and I heared her death cry, I really shrugged. Edit: A different theme is played when one of the lords died? Celica died twice, but only the standard jingle was played. Of course with the consequence Game Over.
  16. Alm's party because more different classes are represented in the beginning (if I exclude the three trainees). In Celica's army I had to deal with lots of magic users in the beginning. Kinda boring tbh. Also I prefer the characters's personality in Alm's party a bit more (mainly Clair x Gray). ... On the other hand Celica's group has Saber.
  17. It's really sad honestly that IS never took any inspiration by romhacks because tons of them have fantastic gameplay or story ideas which really deserve a place in an official FE game.
  18. FE6 needs a remake the least since we have some good patches in SF which fixed the gameplay issues like weapon balance and units's bases and growths. Storywise it's fine already. Judgral defintiely needs rather a remake, espcially FE5's mechanics must be improved.
  19. If you play FE because of the story, definitely yes. It has a deep plot and very interesting supports. If you play FE because of the gameplay, no. Echoes is not a classic FE game, but rather a SRPG with FE elements to me. It has a very simplified battle system (no weapon triangle, infinite weapon durability). The map design is poor for the most part. (it's still a remake of FE2) Very most of the mechanics from FE2 were overtaken. Since I don't like them because they feel outdated to me, I have a very hard time to get into the gameplay. I never had the motivation to playthrough FE2, and after playing Echoes I even feel like less to do it.
  20. I noticed afterwards that adding weapon triangle would be pointless, simply because you don't have to deal with axes later on anymore. Apparently pirate is the only representing axe class in the game which doesn't have a promotion. After act 3 you don't have to fight any axe users anymore. It's similar to FE11 where you don't fight axe users in lategame so swordusers have a significant disadvantage. Still if axe classes were introduced in Echoes, a physical weapon triangle would make sense. I don't want to argue about the map design, but some maps are really borderline to me. An example is Jedah's map. He summons tons of these eyeballs (or whatever they are) which are fast and powerful. The awkward terrain with all the miasma makes it a bitch to fight them. Or chapters where you have to walk around of a building with the width of one space. It slows you down and makes it annyoing to fight enemies. Have told enough about terrain yet. However complaining about the map design is invalid since it's still a remake. Would be weird to change the map layout in a remake.
  21. Idk how the A.I. was in the original, but in Echoes the witches with teleport are targeting normally different opponents not to kill anyone. Of course no one can except for res. tanks. However it kinda kills the point of having the teleport stave. Then just let them appear somewhere else close to the starting team without teleport where they can attack someone in the first enemy phase. Or do it like in FE5 where they can't rewarp and attack in the same turn. The teleport stave is fake-difficulty to me. In general I still don't know how the exact targeting of the witches. In one chapter two witches teleported and attacked the same unit deadly. However in most cases they choose different targets.
  22. Jill is like the best unit in the game besides Haar for being in the best class in the game and having amazing caps (even better than Haar). Her start is shaky though. She definitely needs an angelic robe in the beginning and a few strength points to become much better in combat. In part 3 she's one of the best front units of the DB besides Sothe, Volug and Nolan. Speaking of Nolan he's amazing in the longrun due to his earth affinity and speed. Unlike most other fighters he has an excellent speed growth and can double most things through the entire game. He just needs the levels in part 3 to benefit from it. In the end he'll become a great dodgetank combined with lots of attackpower. Edward is a good contender for getting the second SS sword. Normally Mia is your first choice as trueblade, but Edward works as well, if you can give him enough levels. In part 3 he often tends to fall behind though.
  23. Idk how the A.I. works. I think they haven't gone all for the same unit yet. However having the knowledge that they can potentially kill any unit freaks me out. And a bad A.I. can't make up for it.
  24. It's nice for the players, but this merciful as bad A.I. makes no sense to me. It's nothing else than "fixing" a mistake (giving the enemy the chance to overrun you without being able to counterattack) by an other mistake (dumb A.I. behavior). It didn't make things better, but only worse.
  25. Things you have to keep in mind to rate an unit for HM: higher enemy stats the earlier someone joins, the better FE6's unbalanced weapon system: sword users > axes + lances mounted units can rescue, take + drop stave users are automatically useful in the beginning
