  1. [spoiler=Characters missing from Revelations path]

Izana (dies as part of the story; cannot be recruited; replaced by Fuga in terms of his recruitment method)

    Yukimura (doesn't join the party)

Scarlet (joins in Chapter 16; dies in Chapter 18; cannot be saved and is later seen as an enemy character)

    [spoiler=Some deaths I know of]

Kaze: dies in Birthright Ch. 15 if he doesn't have at least an A-support with Corrin.

    Ryoma: dies in Conquest

    Takumi: dies in Conquest

    Xander: dies in Birthright

    Elise: dies in Birthright

    Flora: dies in Birthright

  2. I don't really agree with this.

    -explanation-

You don't have to agree with me. It's just my view regarding gameplay and story in video games. Fire Emblem games aren't the only video games to have trouble with storytelling -- take a look at other games like the main series Pokemon games.

As for Fates, I've already preordered the Special edition bundle in full. Definitely planning on enjoying it should I have enough time to play through it.

  3. Here's something simple:

Video games are, well, games, first and foremost. It should be no surprise that gameplay tends to be at the forefront in development and in reviews. If a video game's story is bad, you can simply ignore it (ie. press the START button to skip story cutscenes) while playing.

If you absolutely MUST have to have a good story, and if a bad story absolutely ruins a video game to you, go visit your local library or something.

  4. Since this is Normal Casual, you should have no problems abusing Reeking Boxes -- in Normal difficulty, Reeking Boxes are a guaranteed profitable way to get money while also gaining experience and support points, depending on the location of the skirmish you spawned. Chrom isn't required to be deployed at all for skirmishes so you can simply focus on a single pair of units that you're trying to support and train.

Of course, skirmishes that are on later-game maps have higher-leveled/promoted Risen that give more experience (particularly Thieves and Tricksters) and better drops.

  5. As a Leo, my best matches (assuming that Corrin is to use my birthday) are with Aries, Gemini, Libra, and Sagittarius

    In terms of possible S-supports...

Aries: Hana, Rhajat (inb4 she uses the Zodiac as grounds for compatibility), Sakura

    Gemini: Anna, Orochi

    Libra: Velouria, Selkie

    Sagittarius: Oboro, Camilla

Fellow Leo: Kagero, Scarlet, Hinoka (who almost has the same birthday as me!)

... Dang, looks like I got a pretty nice mix.

And yay, Kana is an Aries so best father-daughter duo ever?

  6. Scored some FE loot while at Katsucon 2016:

-a pack of 25th Anniversary Fire Emblem Cipher Card sleeves (shows map sprites of major female FE characters like Caeda, Azura, Robin, Ninian, Lucina, etc.)

-3 Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War Exceed a Generation trading figures (Tailto, Sylvia, Ferry)

  7. Gen. I

Good: given: the start of Pokemon

Bad: 4Kids basically rewriting the entire first Pokemon movie

    Gen. II

Good: Has both Johto and Kanto available for exploring

Bad: unforgiving difficulty curve, especially as most Pokemon in Gen. II are largely terrible or feel like Dex filler.

    Gen. III

    Good: EVs and IVs system

Bad: Getting event Pokemon (especially Jirachi or Chansey/Blissey knowing Wish) legally

    Gen. IV

Good: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky

Bad: very slow gameplay speed in the main series games ("Saving a lot of data...")

    Gen. V

Good: fresh feel thanks to only new Pokemon in BW's story mode

Bad: Pokemon Best Wishes anime is terrible

    Gen. VI

    Good: Fairy-typing being added

    Bad: boring poststory

  8. Actually, we might get this game pretty recently, since it's being released in Japan next month I believe?

It practically came out today (timezones; Japan gets Great Detective Pikachu on February 3rd, 2016).

It looks to be a dialogue-heavy game though (especially since it contains fully voice-acted cinematic scenes), so I wouldn't get my hopes up for a quick localization and release.

  9. I probably don't have too much of a preference or specialty in terms of type/genre of video games:

RPGs: Pokemon (main series and Mystery Dungeon spinoffs), Fire Emblem

Shooters: Cave Story, Team Fortress 2, Kid Icarus Uprising

    Fighting: Super Smash Bros.

    Racing: Mario Kart

    Beat 'em Up: Senran Kagura

Rhythm: Rhythm Thief, Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX

    Visual Novels: Harvest December, ...

  10. I would like to see a DLC map in which you can face off against several famous Fire Emblem characters not unlike Rogues and Redeemers. Completion of it can be rewarded with a DLC character and the ability to view a CG gallery at your leisure rather than having to replay a map (or start a new save file) to see a CG again. Of course, to make the CG gallery worthwhile, it can include exclusive CGs like Cipher art, concept art, DLC character artwork, CGs made specifically as rewards for the DLC map(s) in addition to story CGs.

  11. Charlotte because when I first looked her up, I thought of her as being a blatant gold digger. It wasn't until I looked into her more when I saw that she wouldn't necessarily marry only for the money, and that she cares about her parents a lot for taking care of her even while poor (most likely the biggest reason that she wants to marry somebody wealthy since she gives money to her parents) when I like her more.

  12. Little irks, let's see.

The lack of chromatic diversity bothers me. Only one green haired character (you can't even get a green haired Midoriko without the Avatar) and a whole lot of whites and blondes. What am I playing, FF12?

I do recall that Yusuke Kozaki isn't exactly fond of green-colored hair -- naturally, that would be the color he uses the least often.

  13. One of the folks who posted in that thread mentioned that financial reasons could be the culprit for skinship being removed (since dubbing lines cost money). I can imagine subtitles or something popping up as you "pet" the characters (perhaps on like the bottom screen or something) if NoA is lazy/cheap.

EDIT: Of course -- Kotaku (and by extension, Polygon) is just being a complete attention whore; it did lose a lot of readers after that whole Gamergate debacle back in 2014, perhaps even earlier than that.

  14. As I'm an undergrad, some classes do not necessarily require attendance. However, I do plan on getting up early so I can take a bus to get to the Gamestop closest to campus (there was one within walking distance of campus, but it got closed down last September) and get to there before opening hours, pick it up, and go back to campus and grab lunch and get to class (first class of that day is at 12PM).
