  1. I'm not mad that Cloud's coming to Smash but I just don't care much for Cloud as a character. As I have never played any Final Fantasy game, let alone FF7, I pretty much perceive him as some stereotypical edgy, angst-ridden male protagonist from some standard-fare shonen manga.

Not to mention that there's a lot of sword fighters now in Smash...

  2. It's worth playing Infinite Regalia at least once so you can get the Silver Card (halves shop prices, including those from secret shops and Streetpass and Spotpass while the card is in convoy) and it is possible to 1-turn that map with the right units.

If you plan on using Rallybots, look no further than DLC Katarina and Palla as they can learn all Rally skills. And they can go flying staffbots as needed as a bonus.

  3. @Roflolxp54, shhhhh! Spoilers! Seriously, though; Golden Gaffe and a number of maxed-out logbook characters are indeed involved in my plans. I guess I could've gotten 20, but while playing around with Limit Breaker and Paragon I've only maxed out 11 actual logbook characters (a couple of my old avatars, a few Spotpass/DLC characters, and some peoples' avatars from Streetpass). Some of the builds are a bit gimmicky, but that's perfect for this playthrough, and there's a good selection of skills (of course). My renown... could be higher. I only recently started actually fighting Streetpass and Spotpass teams - usually I just use 'em for the shops; and unfortunately most of those battles were fought on my Streetpass team's file, since that's where I had all my maxed-out units. And... um... I got kinda tired of getting through the main story line with a male avatar without Galeforce, and... kinda haven't beaten the game properly yet on that file because I'm a bad gamer...

My bad about the spoiler stuff but it's not an uncommon tactic, especially among LTCers.

You can also amp up the Logbook shenanigans by making sure that all saved units got the Boots boost so they can be zooming around on the map at 7-10 tiles per turn (before Galeforce/Dance!) as a promoted or special class. Save before starting this! Use the Boots on your maxed out unit, save to a different file, then reload the first file (or any file other than the newly saved one) and rehire the boosted unit. Costs gold but that's easily fixed with Golden Gaffe. Easy way to get around the 2 Boots per file limit (only for Logbook characters though).

  4. The fun with Rescue staffbots with Galeforce leading to 1-turning kill-the-commander maps.

You can also break the game more easily by having a file cleared with Max Renown (get over 100K gold by selling certain rewards) and have at least 20 maxed out units saved into your Logbook before starting a file.

If you did that, you can beat Golden Gaffe while using Leif's Blade and hire Logbook units before beating Harvest Scramble repeatedly to get Master Seals easily -- with DLC, you can get Chrom to easily promote in Chapter 5.

Also, you can use those funds to buy equipment from Spotpass teams such as Mire, Waste, Brave weapons, Fortify, etc.

  5. Cordelia. Not just because that's the pairing I went with on both Lunatic Classic and Lunatic+ Classic but she can get Galeforce after promotion and reclassing her can get her Sol, Armsthift, Bowbreaker, Axebreaker, and Tomebreaker -- she makes an excellent combat lead as a Falcon Knight, Hero or maybe Dark Flier.

Plus, you get to spoil Severa by giving her a boatload of reclass options. :P

  6. I've been hearing that the special edition cart may be only compatible with the New 3DS systems (New 3DS, New 3DS XL) and is incompatible with the old/legacy 3DS systems (3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS). Is there any confirmation on this? I would really want to pick up the special edition cart should it be available in America next year but I only have the old 3DS system.

If the special edition cartridge is only compatible with the New 3DS system, that should be stated on the SF's FE Fates' Separate Versions page. Wouldn't want to buy the special edition pack only to see that the cartridge wouldn't work on the old 3DS system!

  7. Nah's Paralogue -- I had to replay that map several times to fill out her father+Nah supports for completion of the support log... and it so happens that her paralogue is the longest and most boring of them all.

Morgan's Paralogue is a close second just because of the number of replays I have to do for the support log but it isn't anywhere as long as Nah's paralogue is.

  8. As of 11/1/2015; only top 10 games are shown

    1. Fire Emblem Awakening (967:18)

    2. Kid Icarus Uprising (498:44)

    3. Pokemon Shuffle (382:42)

    4. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (242:14)

    5. Mario Kart 7 (214:03)

    6. Streetpass Mii Plaza (190:29)

    7. Pokemon Omega Ruby (118:37)

    8. Senran Kagura Burst (101:07)

    9. Cave Story (DSiWare version) (80:01)

    10. The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap (3DS Virtual Console version) (64:28)

  9. I'd have to say that advertising is what made Awakening's sales so strong. Even when I watched a lot of TV back in the day, I don't recall watching even a single Fire Emblem commercial (even if the TV channels I had watched were Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and occasionally, Fox). Heck, I know nothing of Fire Emblem from Smash Bros. until Super Smash Bros. Brawl as I wasn't really even aware of Super Smash Bros. 64/Melee even existing, though I have visited a few of my parents' friends' whose kids do own Smash Bros. though I don't know it by name, plus, at the time, Pokemon was the only Nintendo franchise I even know of.

The only video game commercials I remember from those days were video games based off of movies and TV shows, Pokemon, and Kingdom Hearts.

Nowadays, I don't watch TV anymore and spend a lot more time on the Internet and on my 3DS which allowed me to have greater exposure to Fire Emblem Awakening before its American release, even after I got turned off from trying FE8 on the 3DS Virtual Console (at the time, I knew nothing of Fire Emblem's gameplay and found it rather boring and slow).

  10. The thing about weapon breaker skills is that they are largely situational, and usually keeping Cordelia away from these units who put her in danger is relatively easy by utilizing Galeforce and Falcon Knights' large mobility range. Equipping Tome/Bowbreaker takes up two skill slots where Iote's Shield's one skill slot works just fine, with the only difference between the two being that Cordelia can avoid Bows and Tomes all the time. Also both are made useless when the enemy has hit increasing skills like Hit Rate +20 and Hawkeye. My Cordelia would be using Iote's if it weren't for the fact that I don't have the DLC...

Iote's Shield can be a waste of a skill slot by itself if the player always keep Cordelia out of range from bows/wind magic. Breaker skills are situational indeed but the Hit bonus can be very useful depending on the amount of certain enemy classes that show up on the map though most of Cordelia's physical classes have rather high Skill caps (not to mention that Cordelia does have a nice Skill growth rate) anyways so Cordelia shouldn't be having a problem landing hits.

  11. Perhaps Nintendo wouldn't have such a big piracy problem by making old titles more easily available and/or localizing region-exclusive Nintendo IP like old Fire Emblem games. Heck, for some odd reason, while Pokemon's willing to go onto mobile gaming via Pokemon Shuffle, it's not willing to put classics like Red, Blue and Yellow (or a combination of the 2 or 3) onto Virtual Console.
