  1. Considering that people made other mods like Brawl Minus, I wouldn't be surprised that at some point in the future, somebody or some group of programmers would try to pick up from where PMDT left off.

But all the same, it's sad that PM's development got shut down though for the forseeable future, 3.6 is now the definitive version of PM.

  2. Lovely as this one won't transform as it'll do great with the + in Sp Attk and Speed that it has! Also, the natures Hasty, or Mild are recommended. Keep resetting your game if the delivery girl gives you one your wanted natured ones!

Huh? I thought you have to visit a Pokemart with Hoopa in the party to get the Prison Bottle needed to transform Hoopa (though the effect only lasts for 3 days).

  3. I think this is a pretty good PMD game to get into the series! The only thing I would really be wary about is that this PMD is a bit more difficult than the others so it might be a bit challenging to anyone who hasn't played a PMD game before but challenging yourself is fun and you can definitely do it!

The difficulty is pretty insane when compared to Red/Blue and Time/Darkness/Sky -- the game doesn't allow for much grinding because of enemy Pokemon giving very little experience and being prevented from going to dungeons due to plot reasons. There's also the fact that the enemy Pokemon can straight up OHKO/ORKO you in a single move later in the game so you can expect to use up a lot of Oran Berries and Reviver seeds and that super-effective attacks coming from your Pokemon don't necessarily lead to a OHKO even on non-boss Pokemon. Belly is also given more relevance as it is drained more quickly, the move Sweet Scent can actually lower the leader's current Belly if hit by it, and that non-Apple items are overall nerfed when it comes to providing Belly (ie. Elixirs give no Belly at all). I may be exaggerating, but the game feels like Fire Emblem Awakening on Hard/Lunatic mode.

The boss battles after the early game tend to rely heavily on a certain battle tactic that feels reminiscent to Fire Emblem's Triangle Attack mechanic.

However, the game is a bit forgiving should somebody faint in the dungeon and you don't have the Reviver seeds to use on them (should you choose not to).

  4. I like all 3 of them but my favorite would have to be Mudkip because of the Internet meme and that I like using it the most even if it's the slowest of the 3 -- it has solid attack power and Swampert is the bulkiest when compared to Blaziken and Sceptile (who are also badasses in their own right).

  5. Some tips to help prepare for it:

    1. Remember to prioritize training Robin during early game (Prologue to Chapter 4) -- Lunatic+ is NOT Frederick Emblem unlike vanilla Lunatic. Robin has a ranged attack, can walk on water as a Tactician (Chrom can also walk on water as a Lord), has excellent growths all around before Asset/Flaw are applied and gets increased experience gain while paired up thanks to the Veteran skill.

    2. Unless you're feeling very masochistic, don't have Flaw set to Speed, HP or Defense.

    3. Clear a save file with max Renown before starting a new file. This will allow you to have at least 109,999 gold for FREE if you sell off the large bullion and the Supreme Emblem rewards after clearing Chapter 3 (as well as getting quite a few other useful goodies like a Second Seal, statboosters, and Celica's Gale).

    4. If you intend to abuse DLC maps right after Chapter 4, it may be good to have several preferably maxed out units saved into your Logbook for breaking the game easily (such as by clearing Infinite Regalia or Golden Gaffe easily for the Silver Card and gold). Just keep in mind that you can only recruit up to 20 Logbook units.

    5. If you need an easy supply of weapons, you can always summon a Spotpass team to buy goods from, such as Fortify staff, Celica's Gale, etc., assuming that the unit in question will be able to use the weapon

  6. @Roflolxp54, oh, yep, the double Morgan thing is always cool. Also, Manakete Morgan is really fun; I got her during my last MaMU playthrough, and of course that's MaMU only. I decided to get Seliph maxed-out after seeing him about a million times while grinding for Paragons; I might end up going and training the other Galeforce guys too at some point. I've already got so many Logbook characters cluttering up my roster though...

    -----

Alright, so, I have a few really busy days ahead of me so I'm probably not going to get a new chapter up till later this week. Also, I'm not really sure how I'm going to handle the next chapter yet. There's only so much I can joke about before it gets tacky and insensitive with a chapter this serious. But I also don't want to make things boring. I'm sure I'll think of something, but it might take a few days.

Try training over 90 Logbook characters (getting them ALL skills, stat-cap them in all classes with Limit Break on, and give them Boots).

You can always joke before Emmeryn's death, though Emmeryn's death isn't that great in retrospect to a lot of players due to stuff like her paralogue.

  7. I went ahead and purchased some Japan Import amiibos from Amazon, under $20 but a bit higher than the store prices of $12.99 or whatever they typically sell for.

The only thing I think is weird is that they'll apparently arrive somewhere between the end of December to the beginning of January. I did select the cheapest shipping options but that's still a bit out of the norm, is it just because they're imports?

Imports do take a while but it's not impossible for them to arrive earlier than ETA -- I've imported before and they ended up arriving between 1-2 weeks early than expected using the cheapest shipping methods (ie. free shipping on $35+ orders).

  8. Just alongside Male Robin? Those are my favorite skills to abuse on anyone who can get them in almost every situation. Actually, the reason I don't play Male Robin that often is because he can't get Galeforce and ends up being outshined by just about everyone who can. That's also the reason why the Logbook League has been all-female so far, though I do have DLC Seliph who I might use at some point. But yeah, those are awesome skills and I plan to abuse them thoroughly in this playthrough.

Yeah, I only use him out of preference, plus, double female Morgans by pairing him with Cordelia.

DLC Seliph, Jaffar, and Camus are the only dudes who can have Galeforce legitimately without inheritance or cheating, so have fun with that.

  9. This ballot is a mere suggestion box though, the number of votes has no bearing, its whether they can work in smash or not.

If it was by number, we'd get something like Goku...

Pretty much what I'm thinking: number of votes means nothing if they're dumped onto a non-video game character like Shrek or some shonen anime protagonist.

Then, there's the issue of whether Sakurai and his team could figure out a way to make the character work in a setting like Smash Bros. and to make that character at least somewhat unique, on top of whether they can get the rights to use the character in Smash Bros. -- alongside Nintendo and Namco Bandai, the dev team poked Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft (Rayman trophy), and Square Enix.

  10. Just wait a while before making your decision. There's no shame in getting the game well after release date. If you don't give a crap about spoilers, then, by all means, look at playthrough videos.

The Birthright path would certainly not be for you so you'd probably want to stick with Conquest if you still want to get the game. Revelations, from what I've heard, has Conquest's varied map objectives and map difficulty, but it has Birthright's allowance for grinding.

  11. Thanks! I got 8 blind boxes off Amazon, I knew I was going to have a duplicate or two so I was going to settle just for the six of them. As I was opening them I noticed that this one is different and then it dawned on me that this one is Ayra! I still can't believe it.

You certainly lucked out -- it's very difficult to find a full set of 7 available at a reasonable price -- I've poked around on the Internet and found a full set of 7 available for $300 on ebay whereas the full set minus Ayra can be found for like $35 on Amazon, not to mention that the condition of the figures isn't always going to be pristine.

  12. The Roy amiibo being a Gamestop exclusive just makes it a matter of being at the store on release day -- I do recall that Gamestop no longer does preorders for amiibo figures after the disaster that was Wave 4 last April and that Gamestop limits 1 amiibo figure (or set of figures) per customer (in a certain timeframe) during those release days to discourage scalpers.

  13. wait... does Revelation actually play well, I heard it was the worst of the three people calling it gimmick emblem or something...

Well, Revelations involves the player trying to bring the 2 sides together just to defeat some greater evil, which is known to be a cheesy storyline.

From what I've heard, the map difficulty is similar to Conquest's. However, you don't have the issue of having limited funds and experience outside of DLC, not to mention that you get almost the entire character roster of both paths, 1 exclusive supportable character, and both Hoshido and Nohr weapons. This makes Revelations harder than Birthright and easier than Conquest.

Of course, you can always choose not to grind at all.

Hopefully it is about the same price, is the SE only 10 bucks less right? but there that part of me that says if I end up the other parts down the line anyways I could have had a art book too ... but then there is part of me that says I will not like the other two parts and payed higher then console prices for a handheld game...

$40 for 1 path, and $20 each for the other 2 story paths as DLC for a total of $80 basically. Not to mention that you'd need some space on your SD card for those other 2 story paths (and for the first path if you don't intend to buy a retail cartridge of it).

Basically, the SE has better value than buying the full game (1 path) and the 2 other paths as DLC thanks to the artbook and 3DS pouch and that you can save a lot of SD card space.

  14. Unless they somehow hack in a move tutor or the ability to teach Pikachu Surf. That would be something.

Oh, thanks for reminding me about Move Tutors. In RGBY and FRLG, each move tutor can only teach 1 Pokemon and that's it. You cannot have that move tutor teach another Pokemon or reteach the move unless you restart the game (basically making move tutors more limited than TMs).

  15. No reason to get the SE pack if you're only interested in the Conquest storyline unless you absolutely MUST have to have the artbook and the N3DS XL pouch.

Birthright is basically Awakening in terms of gameplay and Revelations is basically Conquest but with Birthright's grinding allowed (and perhaps some Awakening story cheese).

I can't say anything for Xenoblade X or Undertale as I don't play those 2 games but I've heard that they're good so you may want to prioritize those over Fates since Fates doesn't come out until February 19th.
