  1. EDIT: In response to answer your questions: Light magic blinds people but since it's so sacred they become temporarily blind then see again :'D.

Have you been in cold weather? In a windy somewhat cold day it feels like knives are penetrating your skin. It especially feels bad when you bend over.

So they run into things because they cant see lol? Or maybe it works like the confuse status in pokemon where they attack themselves xD

As for cold weather, yes, that is true. But wind magic isn't ice magic, which that better fits. Plus I just said armored people. I can understand it hurting if you're not covered in heavy metal.

I like the way that you start talking about "real life", and in the very next sentence start talking about magic as thought it exists in real life...

I meant if it did. Wasnt saying it does....but it would be awesome. Picture the pope being able to use light magic lol.

How are units like Mist and Mia able to use Alondite? lol seriously. Ike still uses two hands on occasion to swing Ragnell around and he's fricking Ike. :P

...Alondite isn't exclusive to the Black Knight? Wow...

  2. This topic is for things that don't make sense when you think about them. Things that can be described as video game/FE logic, but if it was real life, it would make no sense. Like...

How does light magic do damage to anything but undead monsters? I can see dark magic being like poison or acid or something, but light? Similarly, how does wind magic hurt armored units? Their armor should protect them from the high speed gusts...fire would make them roast in the armor, and thunder...metal conducts electricity. But wind doesn't do anything to heavy metal.

How do javelins/hand axes come back to the thrower?

    Etc...

  3. I highly recommend using the palettes from the official mugs, it will make it look a heck of a lot better. Like...for her hair, you could use the colors from Kent's or Artur's hair. Just take the eyedropper tool and use it on the official mug, then use that same color on your mug. Rinse and repeat.

You'd be surprised what playing with palettes can do to a sprite in a good way :)

  4. I think the dark mages look more shaman/witch doctory than anything. What with the bone necklaces and headgear...which does fit. But yeah, Tharja doesn't need to be wearing that transparent cloak thing. I don't need to see her bra and undies.

Knights and generals are fine. So are cavaliers and their line.

The barbarians...dafuq is up with that cow skull hat? Looks kinda wierd...

  5. If we were to look at actual frequency of birthdays, though, we'd see that certain birthdays are more common than others. November birthdays are fairly frequent, for example. I may do more research into this later.

Yeah my brother was born in November. I think it's that way because...of Valentine's Day lol. Count 9 months from February and you get November...and we know how someone born in November's parents celebrated Valentine's Day. Course, this is just an assumption.

I share a birthday with Morgan. Makes for some interesting fic ideas since I also give my Avatar, Kelli, my birthday. Heh, heh.

Yeah it does! I was almost born on my dad's birthday, April 9.

  6. Not counting your avatar...everybody gives their avatar the same birthday they have, right? My Rene was born on April 11. Just like me.

EDIT- I just found out some people choose the next day so they can get boosts. That's fine too.

But yeah, self explanatory. Found out recently that a girl at work is birthday twins with Frederick. I just happened to have my 3ds with me that day...well lately I've been taking it EVERY day, but as I digress. Anyone know if spotpass characters were given birthdays or not?

  7. Recruitment: Together We Ride(Blazing Sword). It's just a classic FE song that's just as well known as the main theme itself.

Map: Change of Scenery(Path of Radiance), or Conquest(Awakening). The former because it managed to capture both a desert sound and a burned forest sound, which are the locations where it plays. The latter because...it has the main theme in it! Awesome.

Preparations: Rising Morale(Path of Radiance), it just fits well and is the most memorable for me.

Battle: Strike(Blazing Sword). Upbeat and memorable.

Arena: Not sure, I don't do much with arenas.

Final Map: Congregation of Ambition(Path of Radiance). Is it sad that that's the only one I've even gotten to the final map on? *hides in corner* Hope to change that...anyway this song is epic, really captures the moment.

Enemy: Stalking Menace(Radiant Dawn), A Mighty Foe(Path of Radiance). Not sure why but I really like those two.

    Event: Not sure.

  8. This reminds me of that FftF topic I made where Anon said the most hilarious thing.

Besides that, I'm pretty sure it's stylistic. I think it's kinda cool and I'm not really bothered so...

Of course, I've been driven up walls by FE genetics involving hair color so...

    /Genetics Nerd.

Care to share what the hilarious thing was?

*highfives* Yay! Someone shares my nerdiness.

  9. 1: trying to make an algorithm for isn't worth your time

2: In the case of heath, did you consider he possibly has a white forelock?

1: Just like a lot of things fans do isn't worth someone else's time...like, for example, people making pairs in Awakening so the kids will have the best possible stats. Isn't something I find worth my time, but others find it worth theirs...soooo it's up to the person. I for one enjoyed making that scientific dealeo.

2: Dunno what you mean by forelock, but it's either he just dyed that part or put fake hair in, right? My explanation makes more sense imo...markings are possible in nature. It's like a dog having one white paw.

  10. also shout-out to a Good effort-post OP, mods please sticky this thread

assuming the science is legit but i don't see why it'd not be

Haha thank you! May biology nerds rule the world!

Lastly, the term 'weeaboo', please don't use it. Seriously. Weeaboo's are people who wish to abandon their own culture due to an over-obsession with Japanese culture, not people who enjoy japanese-made games and the like. Loving to eat sushi does not make you Japanese. I don't think the FE developers could be weeaboo's anyways because they ARE Japanese.

True...but I wasn't exactly serious when I said that, just...throwing things out there.

  11. Zelda has it less than FE...Saria and Kafei are the only two examples we can think of. Whereas FE has it EVERYWHERE.

And yeah, I remember Doug...and The Simpsons.

I'm willing to bet the thing about the NES is it. Not hair dye being cheaper xD Lol. That's debunked by Lucina having blue hair as a newborn. I REALLY don't think Chrom's crazy enough to splash dye on her as soon as she emerges from her mom's womb "because she has to look like ME, damnit! I dyed my hair blue when I was 5 and it's been that way ever since!" Yes I am aware that was supposed to be a joke.

  12. So FE is...like your average medieval fantasy, only it does what a lot of anime does, and gives people hair/eye colors that are WAY unnatural. Blue, green, purple...the list goes on and on, blue and green only being unnatural for hair that is.

I was quite interested in biology and genetics in school, so awhile back I attempted to make some sense of this:

Unless stated otherwise, hair and eyes are coded the same. Black and white are not possible for eyes.

    Dominant Genes: BK(black), BN(brown), RD(red)
    Recessive Genes: we(white), yw(yellow), be(blue)

Modifier genes produce a different color when paired with certain genes. If the modifier is paired with a gene that isn't compatible, the color gene will be expressed by itself. White with the light or dark modifier will result in white, for example.

    Light Modifier: L
LBK = gray, LBN = tan/hazel, LRD = pink, Lbe = light blue

    Dark Modifier: D
DRD = maroon, Dbe = dark blue, Dyw = orange

    Metallic Modifier: M
Myw = gold, Mwe = silver, Mbe = steel blue, MBN = copper, MRD = purple

    Hair Streak Modifier: S
This is a special modifier. It is compatible with all colors except white, and can be by itself or with another gene. When this modifier is with another, both are passed down. The streak is always white. No other color is possible.

Codominance occurs when two genes of the same rank but with different results are paired, blending the results of the two.

Codominance(dominant): RDBK = maroon, RDBN = dark orange, BKBN = dark brown
    Codominance(recessive): beyw = green, bewe = light green, weyw = beige/blond

I even explained Heath's white streak xD There's a race section in there too that tells you like...if a laguz and a branded have a kid, what race it can be, but this topic is only about the colorations. I made this before Awakening came out...so don't try to apply it to it. Sumia would likely give Lucina light blue or black hair according to this...then again IS doesn't use it...and we can't do DNA tests on game characters. I'd assume Chrom might carry a white or yellow hair color gene. Emmeryn and Lissa are blond...my brain hurts already.

Anyway, why do you think IS decided to do this? To be different? Because theyre all anime weeaboos? I can't think of another franchise off the top of my head that does the unnatural colorations.

  13. untitled_by_rubydragoncat-d7yoo18.png

Saw something moving on that wall, thought it was a crack/sea breeze since it's a port town...when I looked closer, I squeed.

Stray cats in Valm apparently aren't bothered by human wars. They just chillax and sleep right through it xD Reminds me a bit of in Radiant Dawn how there were birds on the ground and they flew away when you put someone there, in one of the early parts of the game...

    Anyone else notice this?
