  1. I use an N64 and older with a flat screen, so no.They have ports besides HDMI, you know. That said, I have a classic game store near me so this doesn't affect me a whole lot, I already have my hunting locations. On the other hand, it allows more locations to be searched for [insert old game here]. Except I don't have many more older games I need to find what with VC and all...

Yeah, due to VC, I would probaly be among the minority positively effected by this for something other than a collection standpoint. That said, I am glad to hear about this information.

  2. This is the GREATEST thing I've heard all day.

Out in the sticks where I live, Gamestop is the closest thing to a mom and pop retro game store I have, and after spending well over 200 dollars on Ebay to get cartrige variants of FE7, SD, and SS as well as POR on GC, only spending 50 for RD and getting it the same day was awesome.

I approve of this big time, if only so I won't have to take a 2 hour drive to Birmingham after this takes off.

  3. Amiibo are a bad method of unlocking DLC for a variety of reasons.

    1. It's fixed price DLC for an uncertain amount of content. If it's from a popular series like Mario or Zelda, you are certain to be making back your investment but for the more fringe titles like Fire Emblem, that's a big leap of faith.

    2. It's decentralized. I like Pokemon but I only play the main series titles. It won't matter to me if the Amiibo unlocks a TON of content over many games if I don't want to play those games. Let's talk about Fire Emblem. Say that I want get Robin in FE14? Okay, I will buy his Amiibo. $13. What if I want Lucina, Ike and Marth as well? That's 3 more Amiibos raising the total to $52...just to get 4 characters.

    3. There is poor availability. Nintendo has time and time again failed to reach the level of demand and a lot of people can't even get the ones they want. You know who has access to normal DLC? ANYONE with a internet connection, at any time.

As ckc22 mentioned, a lot of these things could be overcome by allowing a traditional DLC method for the same content.

I've already explained why Amiibos are a better way of distributing DLC at least where I live, and I stand by my claim that Amiibos and their content are cheaper overall here in the sticks, and due to limited usage, normal DLC is NOT always availible to dispite having a internet connection.

  4. Wow, honestly, I didn't realize Marth, Ike, Sonic, and Mega Man were so rare until after I bought them.

I honestly love the Amiibos, and I think for once, me, Anaclybele, and Glaceon ACTUALLY agree on something.

They are, in my humble opinion, the best way to handle DLC, and I will never regret buying Sonic, Mega Man, Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Samus, Sheik, Marth, Ike, Link, Toon Link, and Zelda amiibos.

    yes, I'm bragging

Why do I think they are the perfect DLC method tho, well, put yourself in my shoes for a bit.

You can only download X amount of gigabytes a month, so typical DLC is almost always out of the question.

Amiibos, on the other hand, allow me to have access to extra content in games, AND get figurines of my favorite characters.

So, yeah, I'm okay with this.

  5. Which path is canon anyway? Nohr? Hoshido? The "Third path"? All of them? None of them?

None i would assume. The third path would probably be canon, but we don't know what it is yet so....yea.

I personally think in FE, and RPGs in general, if there's a choice involved, there isn't a canon route to it.

IE, Lyn x Eliwood is just as canon as Ninian x Eliwood, despite only one being possible per playthrough

  6. If Hoshido is the 'typical FE' route then I'm willing to bet you'll be in the right the entire way save for having to possible strike down former allies/family/friends. I don't think Nohr will necessarily be evil, rather it will be a more ambitious nation led by an evil man (Garon.) I think it will be interesting to see how the moralities of those beneath him are affected, and if he is maybe a villain even on the Nohr path? I think that would be a good way to balance the moralities of the routes, because other than Garon, Nohr didn't seem so evil to me.

But I think Hoshido's going to be quite "good". Like Ylisse good.

Tho its barely mentioned, Ylisse was responsible for a attempt at genocide a few years prior to Awakening's story.

They aren't as goody-goody as you make them out to be.

  7. You know, if it was Future Elibe, we would be seeing more native-styled archers. But eh, change brings out completely new things. I say that IS just made another big bang and created another continent(s?)

As a man who doesn't belive in coincidences, I find it a bit interesting that we got the first trailer showing the yellow eyed Ninian clone, and half a month later FE7 hits the VC. That's not all either, both trailers hold a lot of parallels to FE7's opening, but in reverse. I would list these but there's a whole thread for that.

  8. Okay, I'm aware of the download link on FEShrine, but it doesn't seem to work for me.

in other words, Dropbox keeps saying download not found and doesn't download anything.

I would like to have a custom soundtrack for the project I'm working on so I was wondering if there was another way to download these?

If there is, could you please link to it?

  9. If they do go full Gaiden then I'd expect them to have very few weapons available and everyone have a default attacking weapon when nothing is equipped. I'm only on Chapter 3 in Gaiden right now, but so far it seems like the weapons are more like a power up item, like the rings in FE4.

Also the 1-5 range bows seems a bit much, but I'd totally be cool with having 2-3 range normally with a less accurate 2-5 bow availible.

Or maybe we're overthinking everything and you see durabillity by reading the item description or something.

Speaking of Gaiden can we please have the Gaiden version of the world map back for Hoshido?

Thats the thing tho, Gaiden DID have 1-5 range bows, heck the weakest bow in the game was 1-4 range. This is literally the only way archers have ever been amazing units bar Shinon.

That said, I would love having the world map system in Gaiden, enemies can actually persue you, JOY!!!, and Gaiden proved how it's possible to make a challenging FE with infinite weapon durability.

That said, my theroy is that the Sword Kamui wields and Bronze weapons have infinite durability, other wise the spot where WD should be just feels empty.

Also, 1-5 bows wern't overkill in Gaiden cause they did so little damage compared to other weapons, ala other FE bows, but suffered an accuracy penalty depending on how far your shooting.

Still, 1-5 bows here would likely hype me even more than it already has

  10. Yeah, true that.

But then how would we know when a weapon is about to break? I'd get pretty upset if I see that my character can two-shot a boss and complete the chapter, only to have his or her weapon break after just one hit...

It might work like Brave Weapons in FE 7, where one point of weapon durability is considered as two hits for the last durability point, or it could go full Fire Emblem Gaiden which lacked weapon durability.

PS IS, if you do forego weapon durability like Gaiden, bring back Gaiden 1-5 range bows too please

  11. Honestly, I'm amazed this topic is still alive.

In any case, these are all great points, but I've recentally reached the conclusion that there is a Nintendo Multiverse connectting every Nintendo game

    Proof:

Warning: really long list and potential spoliers coming from a guy who does not know how to spolier on the mobile version of Serenes. read at your own risk.

Hyrule Historia's Link dies timeline can only be explained by multiverse theroy

In Super Paper Mario, each stage takes place in a different dimension meaning Multiverse

    Smash Bros, obviously

    Outrealms, obviously

In Mario and Luigi Dream Team, Luigi's and other character's dreams actually become new worlds so...

    The Dragon's Gate, Obviously

    Termina from Majora's Mask

Labryyna and Holodrum from the Zelda Oracle Games

Lorule from Zelda Link between worlds

Sacred Realm from MULTIPLE Zelda games

even tho it's not Nintendo, he might as well be at this point, Sonic has an established multiverse as is.

There's probaly more but all I know of Nintendo's games are Mario, Zelda, and FE so...
