  1. Except they didn't. She got more gimmicky voicelines, definitely-- but that was done plenty of times before, like, say, basically Awakening's entire cast. The rest of her dialogue and her supports are left pretty well intact. Henry goes from being an actor to an actor who believes his own act; for instance, people were turned off of pairing him with Olivia precisely due to his vastly different character. (Also, I see you overfocused on Saizo/Beruka. Not a fan of that; 1 out of nearly 2,000 support conversations, though). Nice strawman right off the bat. There's a difference between gimmicky voicelines and a few alterations here and there and having google translated text and awkward wording aplenty in your game. Fates has one or two typos; Persona 5 got an entire site built around that stuff. Atlus had been acquired by Sega for the purpose of their translation team, and Persona 5 ended up being a bit of a casualty. Would also like to mention that I know someone who's studied Japanese and hopes to be a localizer themselves (having been one of the main translators for the highly-regarded fan translation for Ace Attorney Investigations 2)... who finds the Fates' drama to be ridiculously overblown and believes Persona 5's is justly criticized. But no. Just write everyone off who doesn't share your opinion as idiots.
  2. I mean, it's what started the thread (though at this point it's become speculation central).
  3. Full info compilement + Famitsu interview translation: https://www.rpgsite.net/news/7041-etrian-odyssey-x-is-a-compilation-which-combines-all-good-aspects-of-past-series-games And on another somewhat related note, gamefaqs finds the discussion of buff classes inappropriately sexual:
  4. If I can take a stab at it: >Main theme >CSS Theme >Rebellion >Reach out to the Truth Arena mix >This'll be the Day/Red Like Roses II medley >Scraper Sky High >New vocal track/ending theme Basically the themes of the 4 poster characters + a few original tracks.
  5. And when you search "Masahiro Sakurai" you get an obese black man and when you search "Sanzang" you get Warriors Orochi's gender inverted female version. Google's algorithm is just freaking weird with what it prioritizes.
  6. Level 1 stats from a combination of the trailer and famitsu: Most notably is that Wisdom (V's new stat, which healing and magic defense is based off of) is the Harbinger's highest stat, leading many to think that it's mostly going to be Deathguard.
  7. Doesn't even include the character pass and is PS4 exclusive (meaning the Switch carrying case, the most interesting "extra", remains in Japan). They screwed up the Western LE hard.
  8. I personally love it, but it isn't really like Mega Man and that's the point. The devs wanted to make something similar, yet different with more accessible gameplay and that's what they did. It's more pure action with the challenge coming from getting higher scores/ranks rather than simply beating the level, with platforming aspects being super tame (especially with how much mobility the PCs have). Comparing it to Mega Man is more or less apples and oranges, IMO.
  9. http://www.siliconera.com/2018/04/11/etrian-odyssey-x-director-talks-series-first-world-map-new-hero-class/ Most interestingly, the Hero class is meant to be an all-rounder, with offense, defense, and healing in its kit. Subclassing with it could be super interesting, if that's true.
  10. I don't care much, I just want it localized rather than not. Also... apparently subclassing is back? ...With 19 classes...
  11. Apparently only 19 classes. As follows: EO1: Protector, Medic, Ronin, Survivalist EO2: Gunner, War Magus EO3: Sovereign, Zodiac, Ninja, Farmer, Shogun EO4: Land, Nightseeker, Arcanist, Imperial EO5: Harbinger, Pugalist Untold: Highlander Original: Hero Please please please let this game be localized.
  12. I don't think that's the case. They're already making the first pack of 3 free for the first two weeks of release, and the Persona character in it is Aigis. Persona's the only series of the 4 that even uses proper dates (we know BB's main plot takes place in late 2199 and that the first three volumes of RWBY during the fall semester, but not even that much for UNIB). Though we did find Labrys in the silhouettes, seemingly bumping out Teddie:
  13. Typical crossover fair. Dragged into an alternative dimension, mysterious voice charges them with protecting/gathering certain crystals of they want to return home, fights and misunderstandings happen, and an implied OC or two is pulling the strings. The Story Mode itself is set up with an arc for each series involved. Also, we've gotten a bunch of dubbed footage over the past 24 hours. Highlights include: What everybody expected. As well as the Uniel characters. Only clear voice from the footage we have is Kyle McCarely has Hyde, though people at the event have been saying Gordeau is Matt Mercer.
  14. From a guy with a rather hit-or-miss record that's been on a bit of a "hit" streak (predicted the most recent Direct and most of its contents). Doesn't sound surprising overall. The SSE was missed in Smash 4, and they really started to wedge the door open with 3rd parties in Smash 4 as they began to realize they got more hype than 1st party characters.
  15. Yeah, that's definitely Karen Strassman. Just higher pitched. Her grunts of pain sound identical to Anna's, even.
  16. It's probably less "who needs more supports" and more "who do we want to see these new characters support with". With so many characters and limited supports, some are going to get shafted; it's not worth overthinking, because they probably didn't put meticulous thought into who should support who and who "needs more" supports. Oh, man. What a blast from the past.
  17. The official abbreviation is XOne, and that version is only releasing in NA/EU. Anyways, the game is out in Japan. Scouts are apparently busted, as always. Pre-release confirmed that there are 18 chapters in the game. However, chapters now consist of 2 or 3 battles. Potentials seem to have been nerfed across the board, but don't deactivate (once you proc one, it stays until the end of a character's action). Anti-Tank turrets can intercept fire, albeit at greatly reduced damage. As for story:
  18. Yang wouldn't have had a sprite they could stick in, and officially was always meant to be free DLC. Plus, a lot of these sprites match up perfectly. I'm 90% on-board with it myself. Bang has never been popular in Japan, and Tao is the definition of just being there. By that rule of thumb, Mai is really popular in Japan (breaking into the top ten of the most recent poll-- granted, the top 3 were Ragna/Hazama/Hibiki). And apparently Izayoi Tsubaki was a major-ish player in CF. Only personal disappointment is the lack of Naoto Kurogane, if only for the jokes/confusion. The exclusion of Teddie for Labrys is what has a lot of people confused. EDIT: People have matched one of Merkava's sprites to what was previously thought to be Hilda.
  19. A gamefaqs thread has run sprite comparisons and found all the silhouettes teased: The animation Hilda's is taken from has a chair that isn't part of the sprite, but feasibly could've been included (Merkava has a sprite that kinda looks similar, but is too big). The two surprises are Labrys instead of Teddy and no Seth.
  20. It's a design that's been around for years, first seen on Kozaki's twitter.
  21. People have drawn comparisons to the similarity of the situations, thinking that WO4 was a planned back-up/stall game in case DW9 didn't go over well. And then there are those who are just sick of DW8 after 5 years already. I'm just glad that I'm not as exposed to the DW8 versions and haven't touched an SW game yet, meaning 4 will be pretty fresh to me.
  22. Hyrule Warriors' DLC packs all at least got spotlighted in Directs.
  23. But for a large chunk of development, both co-existed; Lucario didn't "replace" Mewtwo in any real fashion. There was no conceptual "re-work"; how many other ways would you animate charging up a ball of energy that goes straightforward? Again, Greninja has just as many similarities. They're humanoid Pokemon with a chargeable projectile as a neutral special... and that's more or less where the similarities end.
