  1. Also Azura's hair seemed REALLY stiff when she appeared in the Hoshido side, and I seem to remember people like Cordelia and Lucina having at least some jointing in their hair for animations. Will that also be addressed? It just seems awkward how stiff it was considering in the CGs her hair is extremely fluid. I'm not asking for anything ridiculous for how her hair should move aside from it would help for it to have a bit of sway in it.

When the player lost Elise in the second session, her hair went straight to the sky as well; I'd assume it's just an early build issue.

  2. If we were going by the pattern seen in Awakening, yes this would be true, but only for the official artwork for the character in general when there is no context given for who their variable parent is. The Shara shown in this in-game screenshot is explained to be the result of a Tsukuyomi x Orochi pairing, so the Shara in this particular file will have the variable parent (Orochi)'s hair color. If we ever get an official profile for her in a magazine, she'd probably have Tsukuyomi's hair color.

I'm not sure where the misunderstanding is coming from... I do understand why her hair is purple. I'm not really taking it at face value because I think this game will function the same as Awakening on that matter; as in, since the fathers bring in many different hair colors for every child, they went with the mother's on the art in most cases, since it never changes. And if anything, Luna, Lazwart and Odin's appearance heavily imply that the artworks really displayed these children's canonical appearance. I'm simply applying that same logic to Shara, and saying that assuming it works the same this time around, she'd have to be an exception to actually, officially have Tharja's hair color.

  3. Unfortunately... there are 53 pages in here... :\ so I am sifting through it to find anything new to translate that people may not know, though it is mostly recap information, and character profiles (for characters that appear on the website that I already translated)

Wait, I thought this was the entire magazine's length. There are 53 pages about Fire Emblem?

  4. I really don't mean to sound like a dick because I'm actually curious, but what's your point? That she can't be a Tharja expy because her default hair colour would be red-brown? Makes sense, given the Awakening-kid expies all have their default hair, but Kjelle didn't have her mother's hair, nor Inigo, so Shara's artwork hair could still be black.

That's pretty much exactly what I meant, yes. You're right, there were exceptions in Awakening, and we don't even know if that's how these children's "official' hair color will work. It's just a thing really.

Personally as I said before, I do think it's Tharja for a number of reasons, but we still don't know for sure at the moment, so I think it's a good idea to consider as many factors as possible.

I have to say though, if a few days ago, I had to select among the male characters from Hoshido, the most likely dad for a Tharja expy, Tsukuyomi would have been quite low on the list. I've accepted it as the truth for a while by now, and yet I still can't wrap my head around it.

  5. I think it was confirmed that the child is this time around dependent on the father, while the hair colour depends on the mother.

Shara has purple hair, because Orochi has purple hair;)

Yes, but as a result of that, their official/artwork hair color would be based on the father, the opposite of Awakening. So Shara's would be brown.

According to my one-day-old Tsukuyomi x Orochi headcanon, it makes perfect sense that their kid would be a little messed up in the head if she grew up knowing that her mother was banging all of the army's captured inmates.

This is all a misunderstanding, they actually have a PS3 in the cell, and Orochi's the only one who knows how to put it on. You know, this being an age of no technology and all.

  6. No, we haven't seen Ryoma's status yet. We have seen very few of those as a matter of fact. Definitely very curious about that...

I'd also wager to say that it's Oboro's class that is great, not her specifically. But we'll see.

Thanks for that, in any case.

  7. I need some persuading. Naturally I will be playing both, but I decided to play one path first then the second a little while later to avoid fatigue and to stretch out the experience. The problem is I still can't decide on which path to play first. (Yes I know, "first world problems".)

On one hand I usually like to go with easier or less interesting things first while saving the best for last. I'm the kind of person who saves the cherry on a sundae.

On the other hand I like some of the Nohr characters and the story premise better. Nohr seems more my style and It's definitely the path I'm looking forward to more, but I feel that after I finish it, the Hoshido path won't live up to the Nohr path.

Bolded: Exactly. That is why I, definitely, still don't know which one I'll start with either.

  8. Shara looks pretty clearly like Tharja to me. The hair color is a non-issue because it's supposed to be variable.

Well, I'd say that's debatable, since most of the children in Awakening had the hair color of the parent they were always tied to in their artwork; in that case, Tsukuyomi's hair doesn't match Tharja's. Plus you've got to wonder how she'd become like that, unless Tsukuyomi abandons her or something of that nature.

... but yeah, I agree it's likely Tharja. Even her japanese name(Sallia) is quite close.

Edit: Also, I won't rant, there's no point. But this is clearly getting on my nerves as well.

  9. I don't have scans, I simply bought the digital version. I'm sorry to say this, but it's an awful lot of trouble to take pictures of that because of the protection measures on the reader software, not to mention it's illegal, so I'd really prefer not to upload any pictures of it. (Apart from that tiny Shara portrait I already posted on another thread, that is :P)

I'll go over it once more to see if there are any other details people might want to know about. It's mostly just an overview of what we already know though, i.e. no big reveals outside of the marriage+children thing, but there's 40 pages in total, so I have to admit I skimmed over some parts (like screenshots and captions) the first time I read it.

Yes, that was a bit more direct than I meant it to be. I understand. Thanks for sharing the information:)

  10. So Corrin isn't his official name? I didn't follow the Treehouse so I'm not entirely sure on this.

Nah. It's just that Robin was changed to Daraen in the french version(in Europe in general apparently, baring UK), and I'm pretty sure they'll do the same thing this time around.

  11. I don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere, but today's Dengeki issue shows a screenshot of the description of the "Freeze" staff. It's not actually a traditional status staff, it simply renders an enemy unable to move for 1 turn and reduces their evasion by 20. It has a range of 1-7 and a hit rate of 80. It sounds like this could be really useful on higher difficulties. (Perhaps even a bit too useful.)

(Sorry if this isn't the right topic for this, but I didn't know where else to post it and I thought people might be interested.)

Do you have the scans? This issue is bound to interest a lot of people.

  12. Anyone else think it's strange that not!Tharja's name (Shara) doesn't sound Japanese at all, despite both of her parents coming from Hoshido?

Well better yet, dark mages are Nohr only...

Although the ring on her wrist kinda implies that she's a spellcaster.

  13. http://serenesforest.net/wp-content/gallery/april-2015-nintendo-direct/nohr5.jpg

The early screenshots showed that Yato(gami) actually boosted speed and defense, while lowering only resistance. In addition to the fact that Kamui's dragonstone seems to be locked to 1-range based on the footage, it's hard to spot any obvious contrasting qualities between the two.

Well I'll be. That's right. We got quite a few that show a lowered defense stat with it equipped though. Like in the most recent Famitsu issue for example.

... The Dragon Fang skill isn't there on any I can find. A side effect of it perhaps, since from what we know it's mainly a battle skill.

Edit: No that can't be right either. In the third treehouse towards the end, the player shows Kamui's stats before healing him:

    v9xJhP5.png

Also, his weapon ranks don't make sense.

  14. I feel like an idiot for not knowing this, but is it confirmed that Attack Stance gives 1/3 of the XP to the second unit (like Awakening)?

That would make both of us idiots, because I don't know either. It gives XP to the supporting unit, that's for sure, but how much is difficult to say. From what we've seen, I'd say a third is a decent bet though.

Note that this only happens if that unit actually attacks apparently. If the enemy dies before it doesn't get anything. Take that with a grain of salt, there may be counterexamples.

Also not sure we know for guard stance yet.

  15. I agree, with the seals only changing the class and not the level, the children will be reduced to ests who have to kill weakened enemies for exp.

Attack stance should make levelling any character that can wield a weapon fairly easy. So at least they should have little trouble catching up.

  16. I'm still wondering, if you meet your sibling's underlings/retainers for the first time at chapter 7, then who the heck are your units for the other 6 chapters before that? (Well, 5 chapters since we already saw chapter 1).

If it's just your 4 siblings (flip-flopping between chapters) + Felicia, Gunter, and Joker, then that's going to be some underwhelming 6 chapters in terms of unit hype.

I think you mostly play with either Felicia or Jakob, plus SuzuKaze and Rinkah. Gunther is also there, at least for a while. Maybe Azura's there too.

... and what we saw was chapter 2:p

  17. "Yato" is the English name for her/his signature weapon, the Yatogami. Whether it has any stat modifications is unknown, as of yet.

It was deduced a while ago that it boosted speed and lowered defense and resistance. Considering the dragonstone seems to at least buff defense, maybe making Kamui fairly slow(and thus making any boost to his/her speed significant) was how they tried to make these two weapons each have their own use, since they're both 1-range and have infinite durability. The dragonstone apparently isn't available 100% of the time, but if using it exclusively when it's there is the only real option, there's not much of a point.

  18. I have many, many issues with children returning, but I'll just say, I disagree with the idea that them making this feature completely optional would really change anything. Missing out on completely new characters with their own supports, personal skills and likely more potential than the parents is not an option in my eyes. Not to mention, this means that we're probably not getting many more characters in... the first gen.

There's not much of a chance that it won't be a big part of this game.

  19. Here:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrin

I read about this. Apparently our avatar is the 'core' of vitamin B12.

That got a chuckle out of me.

I guess Corrin isn't that much worse than Robin really... plus his official name will be different as far as I'm concerned, not to mention that I'll give him yet another name either way.

Sadly it still matters though, since almost every decent Fire Emblem community will call him/her that

Corrin is no Hoshidan name though, that's for sure. Considering this and Jakob, I'm starting to feel like quite a few references will be lost in translation. Wonder what they'll name Odin, Lazward and Luna...

  20. No it isn't. It's clearly dark blue to me. Except on the ends, though.

Looking at the trailer again, there are shots like this:

    sw58q1m.png

(if you tell me that's not purple, I'm not sure there's anything to add. And not just the bottom part)

    ... and ones like this:

    vtz7imf.png

... which is closer to dark blue, although I still see purple.

It does look a bit inconsistent to me though, but I'm no artist. At this point, I'd like to see a portrait or something.

In any case, azure is light blue, so I'm not sure any of that matters.

That being said, it is to be noted that the sprite of her (mostly)white robe is light blue. Which is something. But unless she gets a name change along with the robe, I won't think that her color scheme was the main inspiration for that name... just like it was with Aqua, too.

  21. What? She has a dark blue outfit and her white outfit has some blue on it as well. Then there's all that blue hair, And of course, her tie to water. And water often appears blue (it's not really blue though, it only looks like it because it's reflecting the sky's color).

Come on, it's clearly purple, not dark blue. And well, the water she summons without any sky to reflect is blue, at least.

Was that watery effect on Renka's site always there, by the way? I just noticed it and it's pretty lovely.

... What? The topic? Oh, right. Hm... SuzuKaze's ninja disappearing act after he defeated that thief was great. Can't wait to see Kagerou do that.

  22. You do know that the name comes from the word azure, which means blue, right? And look at Aqua's colors. I used the name for similar reasons. My character is a red-head, but she wears blue armor. It's also a reference to the FE lords often having blue hair.

Azura is a great name for Aqua, imo.

I wasn't speaking from an etymological standpoint. I see it more as another nod to her ties to water, especially since we've seen her in an outfit that isn't blue. Actually for the most part her hair is the only part of her that's blue.

But yes I did know that. My issue is that I think it sounds bad, as well as a bit too... I don't know, mystical perhaps. It's obvious enough that Aqua is mysterious, you don't need her name to reflect that as well.

... but mostly I think it sounds bad.

  23. Oh god, Azura? That's even worse...

Please be called something else in the french version

Even ignoring the stats, that was a pathetic amount and layout of enemies for what, Ch6?

Well it was Hoshido normal(?), so I guess we're not supposed to expect any difficulty from that. I'm more surprised that they allowed so many units to be deployed. Felt really unnecessary considering the way the map was.
