  1. Looking for skills for Yukimura. In order of descending priority, anyone have Shurikenfaire, Lifetaker, Rend Heaven, Quixotic, Bowfaire, Aegis, or Pavise?
  2. I'm... honestly not sure whether this video is funny or kinda disturbing. Midori invents a new drug.
  3. Shotguner already covered Walhart, so I'll tackle Gangrel. While it is much more prominent in his recruitment paralogue and supports, his nihilistic, "Either this war will see my enemies crushed or me dead. Either way I win." tendency is still visible at a few parts. I don't have the script on me at the moment but I recall at one point he mocks Chrom's death threat and openly admits that he'd welcome it, but he has other stuff he wants to see done first (Like Emmeryn becoming street pizza). But yeah, Walhart's motivations are more prominent in-story while Gangrel you have to recruit to see most of his stuff. Also, I can't help but giggle at the "With it, I'll arouse Grima!" line because I am an immature idiot.
  4. - I'll have to disagree with that, but I don't know what you would consider adequate worldbuilding so I'll just leave it as a matter of opinion. - Iago, Hans, and Garon are infinitely worse than Gangrel and Walhart in that regard, though. Even Validar comes across as slightly more nuanced than all three of them and he's a mindless idiot obsessed with resurrecting Grima and calling it fate. - Yeah, Valm is filler, but I don't see what's wrong with that. It works perfectly fine as an isolated story, and provides some necessary downtime between the Gangrel and Grima arcs. My only real question is why Say'ri, Virion, and Cherche continue to be a part of your army afterward, but that's always a question with characters who join your cause for specific reasons. - Grima was trying to keep the past on track toward his resurrection, only interfering to counter Lucina's interference, presumably so he could return to his future once he secured his own past. He didn't directly revive himself and become an inseperable part of the past until he was desperate and had no choice.
  5. Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure Aether and Astra only count as one hit as far as WEXP goes. At least in Awakening, they only consumed one durability instead of 2/5, so I assume the same holds for WEXP.
  6. Niles gets nothing from Odin. In the second case, Niles would get Sky Knight from both Subaki and Azura, so it's redundant. Friendship Seals don't look at Partner Seals, and vice-versa. If Niles is married to Azura he should A+ with either Leo or Arthur. It's the only way he gets something new.
  7. I don't know how to gauge Elise and Sakura due to differences between the original and localization. Takumi, Leo: 17-19 Hinoka: 23 Camilla: 24 Ryoma, Xander: 27 Gunter: Mid-60's at least. I can't help but be amused by the posts suggesting 40's or even early 50's. Dude's wrinkly as a prune, most of his hair color has faded, and he never shuts up about how old he is. (Question: Does Kana inherit Gunter's greyed-lilac hair, or does he inherit a more colorful version? That would be cool if he did.) Reina: 39 Yukimura: 43 Shura: 46 Just about everybody else is in that weird 18-25 anime range, so it's hard to pick out exact ages.
  8. Beruka's my fav in terms of characterization. But as far as practicality goes it's really hard to beat Xander and his indestructibleness. Benny also was pretty much soloing Revelations' lategame maps for me. I don't know if he has naturally high Res or if he just got lucky with level-ups, but he was taking 0 damage even from enemy Onmyojis and Sorcerors.
  9. If we're doing Smash Bros. stuff... Falcon (S) A legendary racer from a distant land who hosts a great power. Skills - Lv. 1) Falcon Punch (Select as a command to attack with Crit +10 but Hit -5. Moves enemies back 1 space if it connects) Lv. 10) Falcon Kick (Select as a command to attack with Range 1-2, but -3 damage. Moves user forward 1 space if used at range) Lv. 25) All-Terrain Racer (This unit is unaffected by movement penalties on terrain) Lv. 35) Spirit of the Falcon (Allies within 2 spaces deal +2 damage, take -1 damage, and have an easier time making follow-up attacks (+3 effective speed)) Max Stats: HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Res Mov 60 35 22 34 40 30 27 24 8 - Falcon Power (E) Might: 14 / Hit: 70 / Crit: 10 / Avoid: 0 / Range: 1
  10. Maybe I'm just more accepting of death, but I never found Gangrel's ending all that sad. It's implied he's been wanting to die for a LONG time, even before you dethroned him. Now he can finally move on and leave his miserable life behind, AND he got to do some good in the world before kicking the bucket. Of course, a female Robin can marry him and give him reason to live, but... eech. :P
  11. I like both, but I think I'll have to give the edge to Awakening for a number of reasons. One of which is that it was my first foray into the series so it kinda holds a special place in my withered, blackened old heart. First let me sing Fates' praises. Fates has better map design, ESPECIALLY Conquest. Even Birthright and Revelations generally had more interesting maps than Awakening's, which only had a few particularly stand-out maps. Some of the aesthetic improvements, like the character models having feet and the camera whooshing down to the battlefield are nice, and My Castle is a lot of fun. It also has a more fair and balanced Hard and Lunatic difficulties (Mostly due to reinforcements), but I don't mess with those difficulties much anyway. Some quality-of-life improvements like being able to summon enemies on the map without Reeking Boxes or learning new skills more quickly after reclassing are also nice. Also less gender-locked classes, and the ability to adjust difficulty mid-file. But just about everything else I prefer Awakening. - The characters. I just find Awakening's cast more entertaining and engaging. Sure, there's a few gimmicks like Ricken's shortness, Cordelia's Chrom-obsession, and Kellam's... lack of presence, but I just personally find them more interesting characters than what Fates has to offer; It has a few standout characters like Arthur and Setsuna, but a lot of the other characters, especially the siblings, just feel rather bland and uninteresting. - The player avatar. I've written paragraphs about this before, but Robin is WAY better a player avatar than Corrin. Most of it is because Robin is a viewpoint character but they are NOT the main character, whereas Corrin tries to pull double duty and winds up failing at both. I wrote more here, if you want to read: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=61304&p=4316915 - The story. I think most people will agree with me that Awakening's story is superior to all three of Fates'. But honestly, I never understood why Awakening's story is considered so bad. It's fairly standard stuff but I don't see what makes it much worse than any of the other stories in the series, and I actually feel like they did a good job handling the three separate story arcs and keeping the characters' actions consistent and understandable. It works for me. - The villains. Another point that most people would agree with me on. Garon and Hans are just mindless thugs who kill for no reason and have no other defining traits, Iago's just Excellus but even more of a failure and doesn't even seem to have any actual goal, and Anankos is pretty mindless outside of the DLC. Awakening's main villains are better in my opinion. Gangrel and Walhart are a lot deeper than they appear at first glance (Even excluding their post-recruitment stuff), and a lot of the minor bosses like Cervantes, Pheros, Excellus, and Aversa have some interesting dialogue and motivations if you engage them with the right unit. Validar's the only human antagonist who comes across as pointlessly evil and stupid. Grima's also fairly bland since all we see of him is that he's gonna destroy the world, but he at least manages to be entertainingly sardonic every time he speaks. - Between Awakening's weapon durability and Fates' various properties, I think I have to give it to Awakening. Yeah, it means there's no reason not to just stock up on Brave weapons, Thoron, Hand Axes, and Javelins for everything, and legendary weapons having durability sucks, but Fates' weapon system is a bit too complex for my liking and I feel like there's pretty much never any reason to use any B- or A-rank weapons. It just feel like a jumbled mess of stat-ups and -downs. - Kids. I don't think I need to elaborate on why Awakening's child system is much better than Fates'. And then a lot of more minor points, some of which people have already stated in this thread; Awakening's UI is much more intuitive and useful, its map is much more interesting than Fates' "smears of colors with random points chosen as levels", the general color schemes and menus feel a lot nicer and more welcoming than Fates', the forging system is a lot less inconvenient, the dialogue and voiced lines are a lot wittier, the confession artworks are better than Fates' Live2D confessions, so on and so forth. To sum it up, I like both as games, but I can get lost in Awakening's world for eons, while Fates I just want to play the maps and move on. I can see myself returning to Awakening again some day despite doing 4.5 playthroughs of it, while Fates I don't see myself doing much beyond the remaining DLC and maybe another Conquest run.
  12. Not sure if this has been posted yet, but
  13. After a few Eternal Seals Corrin can easily solo the maps.
  14. It does kinda irk me that so many of the DLC maps stick us with pre-set units. Besides making it feel like there's no real incentive to keep using your actual army beyond endgame, it also makes it much harder to farm the skills and class items offered by the DLC. At least Vanguards, Ballisticians, and Witches are easy to farm, but again, there's not much to actually use those classes on since the hard DLC is all pre-set units.
  15. Ah, okay. Good to know. I really wish I could just buy skills for Yukimura on my Revelations file instead of having to do it in Birthright and then send him over. Same with Scarlet and Izana.
  16. Anybody gots a Yukimura with any combination of Rend Heaven, Sol, Shurikenfaire, Bowfaire, Lifetaker, Aegis, or Pavise? Want to load him up with skills before I buy him as an Einherjar in Revelations. When I register a unit to the logbook at the end of the game, does it save ALL of their skills or just the five they have on them at the moment? Want to know if I'm wasting my time here.
  17. I don't mind the enemy-exclusive weapons like nageyaris or kukris since they just exist to mitigate the stationary nature of bosses, but I'm not fond of Lunge chains at all. Hell, even when it's perfectly legal on a wyvern rider I hate being Lunged off of a fortress while trying to grind experience.
  18. Love how even Grima is screaming in anguish.
  19. All I have name-wise is a Frying Pan +2 named "Drying Pan" I intend to name a Subaki's Pike "Naginta", though, and since I'm going to make Gunter a Ballistician I'm going to give him a bow named "GUN-ter". Also maybe call an Iron Club "Dildon't".
  20. So I just need to do Conquest on Hard if I want to have the bosses with all possible skills. The only Lunatic-exclusive skill is Haitaka's Seal Defense, which he gets as a Spear Fighter anyway. As for Recollection of Foam, maps 1-6 give you, respectively: Skill and Luck Taker Magic Taker Strength Taker Defense Taker Speed and Resistance Taker Point Blank
  21. I think you're making a lot of assumptions here. Most of these are fairly common phrases. "Nohrian Inquisition" and "We should form our own league" are almost undoubtedly references, but the others seem fairly generic to me.
