  1. Niles, Odin, Peri, and Laslow join at too low a level to be immediately useful unless you're willing to grind them a bit. Beruka and Selena are great as always, though, and join pretty early. Gunter is a straight Jeigan so you should drop him as soon as you feel you don't need him anymore, sadly. If you want to use Hayato that's your call, but I find he underperforms. Even if she's frail as a wet tissue, Orochi's a better Diviner and has Capture to boot once you start doing the child paralogues with all their weird bosses. If you do use Hayato, I recommend promoting to Basara over Onmyoji. It makes him reasonably sturdy. I'd invest in either Effie or Benny. I used Benny in Revelations and by the endgame he was still taking 0 damage from most enemies, and even mages could barely dent him. He's great for luring in enemies close and weakening them for your more fragile units to then take out. And yeah, don't bother with Scarlet.
  2. But then she'd be stealing Ryoma's thunder.
  3. While it was serviceable, I felt like Birthright's plot was dull above all else. As much as we like to rag on Awakening's fairly vanilla plot, I feel like it at least managed to be pretty well-done if cliche. Birthright boils down to little more than leading a counter-invasion into Nohr and dethroning Garon. It was mostly just a linear trek from one filler fight to the next with the only real points of interest being inevitable confrontations with the Nohrian siblings. The only thing I think it did well narratively was build up Xander. Even moreso than Garon, the game hypes up your eventual confrontation with him; the first chapter of the game has you sparring with him and it's clear he's holding back. Then once you've sided against him you get Camilla and Leo pretty much telling you "You may have beaten me, but Xander will utterly wreck your shit", the Rainbow Sage mentioning that Xander was one of the few who completed his trial, and the demo he gives at the opera house when he shows up as an obstacle to be avoided at all costs. All of that builds up to a head; you've become stronger in your journey, and now you stand opposite of Xander once again; this time it's not him training you and letting you win, it's him fighting with all he has to KILL YOU while you try to overcome the last obstacle in your path before Garon. And suddenly... it cruelly subverts it and rips everything you AND Xander were fighting for apart by killing off Elise BECAUSE of your duel. Your duty to Hoshido and Xander's duty to Nohr cost the life of someone dear to you both who just wanted you to stop fighting. You still get your duel afterward, but it's just hollow and uncomfortable. THAT, I felt, it did correctly compared to Ryoma feeling like little more than a minor boss in Conquest.

  5. For Hisame I was gonna go with "Makes you insert pickles into his rectum", personally.
  6. Oh, another point in Setsuna's favor: The S-rank is hilarious.
  7. I'd like to recruit Kana now that I've beaten Revelation's story and tire of the adult generation, but I want to make sure she inherits skills she can't get otherwise. My avatar's secondary class is Ninja, and his spouse is Beruka, so Kana will have Nohr Princess, Ninja, and Wyvern Knight as her basic classes. Beruka's A+'d with Oboro, so it'd make sense to pass down a skill from the Spear Fighter classline, but I'm torn between Rend Heaven and Quixotic. From Corrin, she can inherit just about any class's skill provided I A-rank someone first. I guess I can just buy any skills I want from other people's Kana's, of course.
  8. I'd go with Setsuna. I chose her in my Birthright file.
  9. I actually had my own idea for a four horsemen of the apocalypse theme. May or may not have some absurdly OP skills. White Rider -A -B A horseman of legend who conquers lands and brings forth disease. 11. It's safe to buy. Only enemy-only skills like Dragonskin and Void Curse seem to cause shadowbans.
  12. If I recruit Yukimura from my logbook (The same Yukimura I used in Birthright) to use in Revelations, can he buy skills from other Yukimura in people's castles? I know you can't buy skills FROM logbook units, but can you buy them ONTO logbook units?
  13. They don't have cut-in portraits, so unlikely.
  14. What's Oboro's ideal option for a best friend? She's married to Niles, so Mozu's Archer class would be a bit redundant alongside Apothecary AND Outlaw, while Orochi overlaps with Basara, so that leaves Beruka and Rinkah.
  15. Candace and Nichol have some, I believe- they have cut-ins, at least -but I don't know if they keep them once captured and made to serve you. As far as Revelations spoilers go, also have cut-ins, so I presume there's quotes to go with those. Garon yells "DIE!" when he gets a crit. As if we needed more ways to compare him to Ganon... :P
  16. I thought Magic got hit with the nerf stick in Fates.
  17. On my Birthright run I chose Merc because it's otherwise unavailable, gives you Sol, and it's one of my favorite classes in general. Conquest I picked Oni Savage, not that I ever had a chance to use it with Conquest's limited experience gain. Revelations I picked Ninja. I'm using a male Corrin this run and can get every class but Oni Savage and Merchant through Buddy Seals anyway, so I picked a class that'd benefit my spouse, in this case Beruka. Her high Skill would benefit well from Lethality I think, plus it gives her Replicate via Mechanist.
  18. By comparing him to the Vaike, destroyer of worlds, teacher of everyone, and misplacer of axes? Hinata should be proud.
  19. In terms of both stats and personality, Hinata's basically Samurai Vaike. Gotta get back, back to Ylisse, Sam-ur-ai Vaike! (Vaike-Vaike-Vaike!)
  20. Voted for Garon. Hans is a total douche, but he's more like a force of nature than a person; Iago and Garon just set him loose somewhere and let him do damage, he doesn't have the mental capacity to really think much about the nature of his actions and just does as he's told. He's ultimately little more than a dumb pawn who knows and is perfectly content to be a dumb pawn. Iago's just a petty moron. Everything he does is just to get under Corrin's skin, which makes him an unpleasant person, but he's more or less laughable in his lack of ambition; does he even ACCOMPLISH anything besides tricking Corrin's army into injuring some Wind Tribesmen? He fails at everything else he does. When we vote for Garon, I assume you mean we're voting for the monster we meet during the game, not the man he used to be. Declaring war is obviously a pretty heinous thing already, but then there's stuff like slaughtering innocents, making his own children slaughter innocents or else he kills them, and generally being a fuckwad. Not only is he more evil on a grander scale than the other two, being the father of five of the game's characters makes things very personal. And then when we learn about Gooron, that arguably makes it even worse since this thing killed a once-benevolent ruler, took over as king, abused the king's children while pretending to be their father, and ruined the nation it had taken control of. Edit: I assume the poll meant worst as in "most evil", not worst as in "most wasted potential/most frustrating to see on screen". If the latter, it's Iago. Like I said, he doesn't have any master plan, he doesn't accomplish anything for the heroes or the villains, he just exists to stand around cackling evilly (Literally laughing "Muahaha" style. Nobody laughs like that except Saturday morning cartoon villains) and give you enemies to fight in filler chapters.
  21. I made him a Master of Arms, which worked out well for him.
  22. He's on my Birthright file, and he doesn't have any cool skills. I just registered him after clearing Birthright so that I could re-recruit him in Revelations. I was just wondering if a logbook-recruited Yukimura could learn skills from other people's Yukimura's.
  23. Hey, so, I know we can't buy skills FROM logbook units, but can we buy skills ONTO logbook units? Like, in Revelations I have a logbook Yukimura since he's unavailable, so could I buy skills onto him or would I need to boot up Birthright?
