  1. Oh wait, you're actually right. But If I remember correctly, the whole incident concerning his birth - along with other events - will be explained eventually. ;) (BTW, your member title is really cute :3)
  2. I assume that he's about Celice's age, which is around 16 or 17 years old. It'll also be explained later why he is that way, if it wasn't explained already. ;)
  3. And 18 votes later, Ayra recieved a surprisingly low rating - at least, from what I expected - of 5.81/10, making her fall just behind Alec. In short, she is just as polarizing as Azel, but still more appreciated than him. :P So, according to one of the regular posters here, it seems we'll go back a bit in Chapter 1 and talk about our first and only theif in the 1st generation, Mountain Dew! Class: Thief (Level 1) Holy Blood: None Personal Skills: Sol, Bargain Class Skills: Steal, Pursuit (After promotion) Stats: 28 HP (50%) 3 Strength (40%) 0 Magic (10%) 6 Skill (40%) 15 Speed (40%) 7 Defense (40%) 0 Resistance (10%) 12 Luck (40%) My thoughts: A part of me just doesn't know how to rate this guy. On one side, he has pretty solid availability, but on the other, his starting stats (excluding Speed and Luck) are pretty damn abysmal. On one side, his growth rates are fantastic (for Gen 1 standards), but he has no holy blood to support them. On one side, he's the first bearer of a badass skill (Sol), but initially can't do much with it because of his lousy strength. One one side, he has a pretty bad base class that is unmounted, but it can give gold and has very good promotion gains - and Pursuit - to compensate. On one side, he can stay in the village and attack the brigands for some EXP, but it's still possible that the Commander will one-shot him instead. See the pattern? You guessed it. For each thing that Dew has going for him, he also has one that kills said positive. He starts off pathetically weak, but does get better later. But, does he become good enough to be worth the pain to train him? For me, the answer is no, because I honestly still find him not that good because of his crappy base stats. Hell, I think that Nino from FE7 is a less-horrible example of this situation, because she can become an amazing glass cannon at the end. Sorry to say, but I'll give Dew a 4.5/10, because he's ultimately unmounted, and that is what makes him definitively bad in my book.
  4. Thanks to an average of 6.94/10, Midayle is now classed as the better/least horrible of all the Chalphy Knights. And thus, we are finally done with the Prologue chapter! :D Let's wander deeper into Verdanite/Verdanian territory and meet up with our first swordfighter, Ayra! Class: Myrmidon (Level 4) Holy Blood: Minor Odo Personal Skills: Astra, Nihil Class Skills: Pursuit, Continue (after promotion) Stats: 32 HP (70%) 11 Strength (30%) 0 Magic (5%) 16 Skill (60%) 17 Speed (30%) 7 Defense (20%) 0 Resistance (5%) 2 Luck (20%) My thoughts: Ahahahaha! This girl is amazing! So let's just cover quickly her weaknesses to get rid of them. Her first flaw is that she's a foot unit, which is obviously a very bad thing in this game, so she will probably have difficulties keeping up with your army. Second, her durability can be annoyingly low, because of her not that great HP and low Defence stat. But, those nitpicks barely matters unless the RNG is against you. Why? Simple: Ayra is a beast in one-on-one combat! I mean, she's got pretty much everything on her side: good base Strength with an okay growth, excellent Skill/Speed base with a great growth in skill, Pursuit (and eventually Continue) as a class skill, and even Nihil just for kicks! But, she most importantly introduced Astra to the franchise, which makes her able to strike five times at full damage! Really, what else can I say? Her survival may be hard on multiple enemies at once, but she's the bess bosskiller to be ever born, and that makes her instantly awesome: 8.5/10!
  5. Oh hey, that's really cool! :D My personal favourites of those franchises are Mega Man X (which is also one of my fav. games peiod) and Super Castlevania IV. Yeah, I'm a huge SNES fan if you couldn't have guessed. xD
  6. Oh hey, that's really cool! :D My personal favourites of those franchises are Mega Man X (which is also one of my fav. games peiod) and Super Castlevania IV. Yeah, I'm a huge SNES fan if you couldn't have guessed. xD
  7. I think I read your Gaiden review, but nothing more than that :P And yeah, I know that FE4 is sort of polarizing because of its differences (skills, gigantic maps, trading, etc.), but that's what makes a part of its charm for me tbh. Plus, I think I'd prefer the holy weapons to be that broken! xD Still, if you ever tackle FE4 again, let me know, and I'll be glad to fanboy talk about it! ^^
  8. Maybe it's necroposting at this point, but have you made any progress since the past month?
  9. If you're curious, I'm currently doing a project, which is of ranking the various units of FE4 into a tier list! You can find it in the NES/SNES section of the forest. Maybe it could help you find the motivation to replay one of my all-time favourite games by giving you pro tips on who to use and how to use them. ;) Also, although i'm not overly knowledgeable in that, I might help a little in pairings if you'd like... Anyway, enough advertising! Welcome to the forest (although maybe I've seen you before?) and enjoy your stay! ^^
  10. WOW. The magic stat of Fee is absolutely disgusting! Even when considering the gains from promotion (+7 magic) and Azel as her father, I am still amazed by this. O_O
  11. I have a very clear top 3 in my heart, and then a couple other favorites to share, so here I go. Oddly enough, all but one of them are on the SNES. :P 1- Mega Man X 2- Super Castlevania IV 3- Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War 4- Final Fantasy VI 5- Super Metroid 6- Zelda: A Link to the Past 7- Turrican II (an Amiga game)
  12. ARDEEEEEENNN! :D You might as well use him at this point honestly. But, enough about him! xD So, with a total of 17 votes, Finn will pull with an average of 8.44/10, which is honestly about what I expected for once! And thus, we'll finally wrap up the Prologue characters with the ''bow of no jokes'', Midayle! Class: Archer Knight (Level 2) Holy Blood: None Personal Skills: Pursuit, Accost Class Skills: None Stats: 32 HP (60%) 9 Strength (30%) 0 Magic (5%) 7 Skill (30%) 9 Speed (40%) 7 Defense (30%) 0 Resistance (5%) 3 Luck (10%) My thoughts: This cute girl kind guy reminds me quite a bit of Alec, but not quite. He has sligthly worse base stats and growth rates than our Turban master, but sort of makes up for it with Charge. I say sort of, because while it may help him to have more attacking opportunities, it may also f*ck him up in other instances, so it's not all positive. However, unlike Alec, Midayle chooses to wield bows instead, since he's, well, an Archer Knight! As you probably knew, bows are less accurate and heavier than swords (but not lances) but have the bonus of attacking at a distance, and that is what makes Midayle not worse than Alec: thanks to Canto, he can do some pretty cool hit and run combat to escape from enemies's range even better than Alec does, thanks to the extended range of bows. This is also good because his Strength stat is quite lacking, so he'll be good to do some chip damage and then run the hell away. With all that said, if you do his canon pairing (I think?) and marry him to Adean, he'll recieve the almighty Brave Bow as late as in chapter 4, but it's still a really cool gift that'll make him suddently able to kill things in one round! But like I said, you'll have to wait quite a bit to gain it. And let's not forget that he has one of the weakest promotion gains in the game, which only beat Arden and Atenna's promotion gains as far as I can remember. Still, he's cool enough for chip damage and some quick snipe action, and he actually works really well with Jamka's Killer Bow, but I personally have some bad experiences of bad level-ups and some disastrous enemy phases because of him, so instead of giving him a 7/10, I'll use some very rare negative bias and give him a 6.5/10.
  13. Nice! I'm glad this thread inspired some people into replaying this gem! :D I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun with God!Finn, along with... pretty much any pairing you did except Holyn!Sylvia and maybe DewxFury. ;)
  14. Whoa, I did not really thought about that! I really should have! ...Anyway, I think that we'll keep it first gen-only, and let him also have his own 2nd gen poll later. So edit your votes for Finn while you still have time! Again, sorry for the confusion! ^^
  15. LOL, a no stat level-up! xD But all of this does mean giving her some major investment, although not as bad as the one that you need to make Arden/Noish good, for example ;) --- Once again, Finn's time will have to wait until this evening, because i'm just super lazy. I swear, I'll try to be more productive in the future... or not. :) Still, stay tuned! ...Nah. Scratch that, I have time! ^^ After seeing Ethlyn recieving an surprising average of 8.75/10 (but with ''only'' 16 votes), it's time to complete the Lenster trio with our boy Finn! Class: Lance Knight (Level 1) Holy Blood: None Personal Skills: Pursuit, Miracle Class Skills: None Stats: 32 HP (70%) 9 Strength (30%) 0 Magic (5%) 8 Skill (40%) 10 Speed (30%) 7 Defense (30%) 0 Resistance (5%) 8 Luck (50%) My thoughts: Finn - at the start - is actually very similar to Alec: if you take Alec, swap Nihil with Prayer, removed him the ability to use swords, change his class, and give him a higher Luck base and growth, you've pretty much got Finn in the end! However, there's some differences that will probably make Finn into a better unit overall. First off, his class, while it cannot use swords, has much better promotions gains to offset this. Second, he's exactly like Alec stat-wise, but with better Luck. Three, many could argue that Prayer is much more useful than Nihil most of the time - and that's pretty much true -. Fourth, Finn has a ton of convos to help him out, including one in which he receives the almighty BRAVE LANCE, which can still be argued as the worst brave weapon, but it sure doesn't mean much. BUT, most importantly, he joins you at the Turn 3 in the Prologue, and while he quits at the start of Chapter 4 alongside with Cuan and Ethlyn, he's the only character who is playable in both generations, so even if he does fall off in the 2nd one - unless in a substitute run - he still makes a great Jeigan and, most importantly, is the grand champion of FE4 in availability. Even thought he seems only marginally better than Alec in the surface (although I still respect the turban much) this Cav is one hell of a guy! I give him a total ranking (with bias) of 8.5/10, because for all the pain he took, I think the man deserves it! :)
  16. Maybe you should update the post to talk a little more of the hack, since I don't really know what it is. :/
  17. With the almost same amount of votes, the Cuanmaster got an impressive average of 8.15/10, which puts him as the 2nd best so far in this tier list! But now, let's talk about our second member of the Lenster crew, which just so happens to be Cuan's adorable wife and Sigurd's sister, Ethlyn! ------- Class: Troubadour (Level 1) Holy Blood: Minor Baldo Personal Skills: Critical Class Skills: None 28 HP (60%) 5 Strength (30%) 8 Magic (5%) 11 Skill (30%) 12 Speed (30%) 4 Defense (20%) 6 Resistance (10%) 8 Luck (20%) My thoughts: Let me just get this straight: Ethlyn is probably our first unit that is more about utility than combat. Sure, she can fight with swords if you want. but she won't do it super well. Why? She has some kinda poor growth rates (even in magic!?) all-around, especially in Power. So even if her base stats are pretty good, she won't be that much better in fighting. If you pair that up with not having any multi-attack skills - only Critical - it'll pretty much be obvious that her presence at the battlefield won't be for her *ahem* swordplay. Getting the Chapter 2 Light Brand might help to weaken well some enemies, but that's pretty much it. HOWEVER, here's where our cutie shines. She can heal. Sure, even if her Magic base is good enough, since her growth in that stat is pathetic, it won't help her much. But that's not really important. Why? Because she is mounted. In Horse Emblem. Even is she could be much better in those two areas - especially combat - it doesn't really matter for her to do her portable hospital job, because she will almost always keep up with your other units thanks to her high movement, so it'll be much easier for you to keep your army's health in check. Sadly, like Cuan and the next character in our tierlist, she'll leave your party at the start of Chapter 4, so her availability could be better. This alone makes it hard to promote her in time (for the sweet Leif stat bonuses) without Heal-spamming, but oh-well. Still, for all of these reasons, I'll give her a 6.5/10, BUT with a 0.5 bias - because she makes an adorable couple with her husband and makes a kickass Leif - my final score for her will be a 7/10, just like the love of her life. :3
  18. UGH. The inheritance section in the Calculations page is killing my brain!
  19. ...You still insist on bringing out Arden? xD That aside, it's kinda true that those skill descriptions are not spot-on, but maybe it was described like this in the original SFC version...?
  20. Well, Alec/Noish could arguably take the Steel one after promotion, especially Noish since he doesn't care about attack speed.
  21. Oh no. xD Yeah, pretty much this. I'm honestly kinda lazy with that stuff, so I'll only sort the list when we're done with all of this. From looking at people's comments, it seems that I'm underrating the hell outta Cuan (yeah, I'll change him name soon...) and overrating the hell outta Azel, which makes me kind of sad, but heh. I know I don't have the most unbiaised opinions around, so...
  22. With a new record of 20 votes, Azel received the low rating of 4.75/10, making him the 2nd worst unit so far. If only he got his horse earlier... For our 7th day, we'll kickoff the Lenster brigade with none other than Cuan! ------- Class: Duke Knight Holy Blood: Major Noba Personal Skills: Continue Class Skills: None 34 HP (110%) 16 Strength (50%) 0 Magic (5%) 10 Skill (30%) 10 Speed (40%) 10 Defense (50%) 3 Resistance (5%) 5 Luck (10%) My thoughts: Cuan is the first potential legendary weapon use of your team - excluding Sigurd -, so he has automatic access to every lances that isn't the enemy-only Gungnir, so that's an automatic plus. furthermore, he joins you with great availability (or so it seems...), solid base stats - especially his devilish Strength - and some actually decent growth for a prepromote, and he actually manages to break the 100% cap in HP. However, his combat potential is not as its best since he lacks Pursuit, but he does have at least Continue. Thus, because of lance's heavy weight and his not that great speed, he'll still rarely attack twice. On the flip side, this does give him a unique niche: he's great for weakening units that others can finish off, while recieving little damage thanks to his solid defense. And, to top it all off, he's on a horse! ^^ Like I said, he is one of the first heirs of a legendary weapon: the Gae Bolg. Even if it's arguably one of the weakest weapons, it's still fantastic, with +10 Power, Skill and Defense, which can result in a guaranteed 56 attack for him, no matter what. Sadly, this is where the problems start with him. He'll only be able to use it for the last part of the 3rd chapter. But most importantly, he'll leave permanently your army at the start of Chapter 4, which reduces considerably his availability, and that sucks. Still, he's an important member of your team and generally good in combat and will very rarely die. Plus, he and Ethlyn are very cute together. :3 So I'll give him a 7/10, and I know it will seem pretty low for some, but oh well...
